This is, hands down, the best Chinese take out food I've had in my 6+ years of living in DC. It's fast, it's hot off the grill, and it's DELICIOUS! I love ordering from Golden House when I'm at the BF's in Bethesda. We always try to see just how spicy we can get our meals by ordering them "extra spicy" or "Extra extra spicy." I think ultimately, it comes out about the same - always tasty. My favorite choices are the Garlic Shrimp (spicy) and the Szechwan green beans. Oh and the egg drop soup is really fantastic. The BF usually gets the Mo Po Tofu, which is quite yummy. He's also been known to get the Garlic Stir fried Broccoli. While we do tend to stick with the same few dishes, I have ventured out many times with other choices and they are all just as good. I really don't think there's anything bad on this menu. Add to all the delicious food the fact that they deliver, and it's never been more than 10-15 minutes from order time to meals on the table. The prices are reasonable and they take credit cards. If you're hankering for good Chinese takeout, give Golden House a try.

Solid Chinese take out food. They're open relatively late on Sunday evenings (10pm) and deliver to the Residence Inn hotel nearby. So if anyone's hungry and on the road, they're definitely a good option! Food is nothing special but not too salty or greasy which can sometimes be the case with Chinese take out. Check out their website, there are coupons and you can order online! I wish we knew the menu was up there when we ordered, since we just thought up common Chinese dishes and they happened to have them.

I made a mistake by placing on online order from this crappy place. It took over 1 HOUR for the food to be delivered. I had to call twice to query about my order. After the food was finally delivered, it tested awful. It looked like the food was sitting there for a while before they delivered. The employees in that place are rude! I called back to demand my money back because the order was delivered late and because the food was not fresh. They did not care at all and said the food was prepared fresh every day and that they have a lot of customers to deliver to and that's why it's taking so long. Maybe it is prepared fresh, but on this particular occasion it wasn't. I told them that I will never order from them again and they did not care. Well guess what, if they treat everyone this way, they will be out of customers. I hope they will run out of customers, so maybe they will learn some manners.

This place gets negative stars. The first time I ordered and picked up and they gave me the wrong food. Next time I ordered from their website because it seemed convenient. Do not order on their web site because it's not reliable, and then the owner will tell you it's not his fault that the website charged you for your order even though they didn't deliver your food. After I spent 30 minutes plus on the phone convincing them that I did order (despite my having a time stamped email reciept) and that they owe me food, they finally delivered my dinner (more than 2 hours late). Accepting NO responsibility, they refuse to refund me and were really rude about it. After all of the negotiating i did just to get what i paid for, i think they would have been wise and hospitable to not charge me. This is so sad and disappointing because it's the only Chinese delivery place with so much vegetarian meat. Two strikes is enough for me. Golden house is OUT.

Golden House is EXACTLY what I'm looking for in some good Chinese food. I am talking good Chinese food in terms of the greasy, Americanized, Chinese food that I am so accustomed to. Golden House is quick in making their meals and they have so many choices. I love their egg drop soup and their sweet and sour chicken. The prices are insanely cheap for what you get, especially for the lunch specials. I recommend this place to anyone who appreciates Chinese food (which doesn't count people who only like PF Changs).

Visited in March 2013, just now figured this thing out. No greeting when u enter. Not friendly at ALL. You pay they don't even say thank you or smile! Is it that bad...never again, I do NOT spend money where it is not appreciated,

At Golden House, you know what you're getting when you walk in the front door... or back door, since they're right next to each other. If you're looking for greasy, fast, DELICIOUS Chinese food, you've come to the right place; all others need not apply. This is the only joint I get my Chinese from, and genuinely lamented the fact that Golden House couldn't deliver to my out of state college. Wonton soup, steak on a stick, and chicken and broccoli are some of my favorites, and every other Chinese restaurant should base their General Tso's Chicken off G.H.'s recipe. I'm honestly surprised by some of the bad reviews on here. The counter and delivery staff have always been prompt and friendly, despite the numerous lingual and socio-economic differences we may have. For a neighborhood, hole-in-the-wall Chinese delivery place, Golden House is as good as they come, and will continue to be the only supplier for my Chinese food fix.

Golden House is an excellent Chinese delivery service and take-out restaurant. It is also great for lunch as their menu includes egg rolls, unlike the Bethesda competition for a lower price. In their delivery, they always arrive very quickly and the food is consistent. They also always bring napkins. :) There is always plenty of parking right off of Rockville Pike. I like the house look of the restaurant, but it is too bad there is no dining area. A table or so would work pretty well in there. The restaurant is actually green, but I suppose calling it, "Green House" just wouldn't have that special ring to it. It gives the customer a feel of get-in, get-out. I think the cashiers could be a little more engaging, but I think that's industry standard for Chinese restaurants to prioritize an effective product and timely service. In so doing, they more often seem to minimize the customer interaction. I always feel rushed, for example, when ordering. This is different, for instance, than a Thai restaurant, so perhaps it is cultural rather than just being a language barrier.

Great lunch special! $6 and some change and you get a huge meal. Today, I deviated from packing a healthy lunch and decided to treat myself before a brutal work week. I got the General Tso's chicken and it came with a generous portion of rice and an eggroll. The chicken consisted of moist white meat and was not too heavy on the sauce or breading. Being an eggroll connoisseur, I knew what I was expecting from the eggroll and I took a bite and tossed it. Also, service is typical of Chinese carry-outs you call in and your food is done in 10 mins. There is no seating inside or outside and I am pretty sure they don't have AC or heat. Golden house gets my seal of approval as it seems to churn out above average Chinese food the Bethesda area. Food - B+ Service - B Atmosphere - C

The food was terrible. I threw it away, so did the other two people I was eating with. I had the lunch special the broccoli in garlic sauce, there was too many vegetables other than broccoli and the sauce was so so, extremely unflavourful. the fried rice was nasty. Spring roll was p good. My brother had the chicken in garlic sauce and my dad the chicken chowmein, both didn't like it. Whole place smells weird too like raw meat???

This is the best Chinese take out food in the area. The prices are reasonable, portions quite good, and the delivery fast. You may not want to visit the little "restaurant" (take out only) because it's underwhelming but you can choose delivery instead. I'm not sure how healthy the food is but it's delicious!

  • Thomas W.

Cheap Chinese carry-out says it all. I had the wonton soup, and the spicy beef lo mein. I have never had spicy lo mein before? I doubt I will order it again. There was nothing wrong with it, but the combination of spice and the mein noodles just did not work. Spices need to complement a dish, and not overtake it. There are other better alternatives to this Chinese carry-out, but this place is a bargain, and the food is acceptable. I think it is hilarious the other reviewers are so concerned about the friendliness of the staff here? After all it is Chinese carry-out in Philadelphia no less!

  • Erin K.

I pretty much only order from this place after a late night out where greasy Chinese is the best fix. And - for that purpose - it certainly does the trick. The General Tso's lunch special is solid. I enjoy the pork fried rice and the chicken is good, though a bit dry. I've tried a few of the soups - wonton & hot and sour. Neither is worth writing home about and I prefer the wonton since it's far less salty. Egg rolls are also solid. I've never had an issue with delivery - prompt enough and pleasant enough. I have no idea how this place stacks up when I'm feeling 100%, but it's a great choice for lunch after a late night.

What a terrible place. I was staying at Double Tree so I ordered from the hotel. They delivered the food quickly but my, the quality was just horrible. The reviews were right. No meat, just lots of veggies which cover a little portion of meat on the bottom. Mongolian beef was just okay but way too much veggies, too little meat. I took a risk although I read all the warning reviews because this place was the closest to Double Tree. Big mistake. The "chicken" fried rice was a joke. I could hardly see any chicken in there, and if you do see any it was tiny pieces. Just ridiculous. DO NOT TAKE A RISK as I did. Do not trust some good reviews here. Probably the owners' cousins and friends. This place is a total JOKE.

  • Kriss S.

After reading the reviews I took a break from work and came here for a quick bite. The moment I walked in the lady at the cash register was so rude. I smiled and said "hello how are you?", and she just stared at me! No response! I was like "ok...". As I am PLACING my order she then tells me my total and I had to tell her that I wasn't finished. Her attitude was HORRIBLE. I will never again come to this company for food not spend my dollars or horrible customer service. YOU SHOULD CONSIDER DOING THE SAME.

I ordered 4 egg rolls because I love egg rolls... this place made me throw away 4 egg rolls into the trash, they were old and absolutely terrible inedible. Go here if you want: Typical cheap frozen to fried Chinese food

Kung Pao Fail - Nothing says low quality Chinese Food than a dish loaded with celery. Celery sends a message that the restaurant wants to make a more profitable dish by using less protein and cheap vegetables. My Kung Pao was terrible and perhaps the worst in all of Bethesda.

This is thee best Chinese food carry-out in Bethesda! Great food, and service. The additional treat is the homemade lemonade and iced-tea!!!! It's a must have!!

The pros: Food to satisfy my Chinese-American cravings is nearby and at a decent price! Fast for take-out. Cute little green house. The staff/owners/managers (?) seem friendly enough. The egg drop soup and spring roll were good. Cons: Not a sit down place. Apparently delivery is slow. The food wasn't as good as I expected. The egg roll had a weird ingredients in it that made it seem a little off. The combination lo mein that I got was a bit bland. In addition, the noodles were a bit soggy... they taste better after they were refrigerated so as to harden them a bit. I usually love love mein, but for theirs to taste good, I had to add in extra soy sauce, A LOT of it. I will give this place another chance. It's really close to my house, so I placed my order over the phone~15 minutes before I got to the restaurant.... the green house (exterior) is really adorable and I like being greeted by nice, friendly staff. It's a cheap option... for a quick fixing... so I'll come back, but in terms of quality of food, they could make it a little better.

The Golden House is a reliable take out chinese restaurant that I've purchased from regularly over the last 6 or 7 years. The food is consistent and the delivery is courteous. My favorites are the steamed vegetarian dumplings, the tofu with vegetables and egg drop soup. (Actually, their egg drop soup is my favorite from any asian restaurant - ever.) I've also enjoyed their General Tsao's chicken and their crispy eggplant dish. I have not been as impressed with their noodle dishes in that the noodles all seem to be over cooked (nearly mushy) which is not appetizing.

Their food is alright and defiantly edible. Thats what i thought at least until i saw the place where they make food. its a disgusting looking hut on the side of the road. They screwed up my order as well! I'm usually understanding about that- mistakes happen, we're all human. but when i called and asked to correct my order, i was dragged into a long ridiculous argument with the owner. Whatever happened to the customer is always right? I didn't ask for a refund or anything, just for them to correct my order! Never ordering from this piece of garbage again!!!

I gave a star only cause that's what I'm forced to give after clicking submit previously without adding any stars. Here's the crazy thing: chicken lo mein & boneless spare rib tips were really good. The reality: the delivery man was 100% rude. No amount of rude can be tolerated for good food. He yelled at me in the lobby of my work place and told me, "NEXT TIME PUT THAT YOU ARE IN THE BANK". I blinked at him and showed with my index finger where I have written as additional instructions with my grubhub ordering profile: "I am in M********** Bank, Suite ***--thank you!" He SNATCHED the paper and said "OK-SIGN". No apology, no sincere or genuine guilt over yelling at me in a business setting in front of co-workers. Sorry, your food is decent but not enough to subject myself to that. Luckily I don't have to do much to convince my whole company how mean and rude the man was to me, the story is spreading already.

After spending all day moving boxes and putting together furniture, my mom and I were craving some Chinese food. Golden House is close to my apartment. They deliver, but I decided to run over instead. The storefront is more of a stand with walls and doors and a handful of chairs for seating. They took about 5 minutes longer than they told me on the phone, but it wasn't a huge deal. The staff seemed to be working efficiently. We ordered an egg roll ($1.15), crab rangoons ($3.95), pork fried rice ($5.45 for a pint, $8.75 for a quart), and kung pao shrimp ($6.65 for a pint, $10.65 for a quart). Everything was good enough to cure our Chinese food craving. The egg roll was decent (filling wasn't very exciting), but they served us sweet and sour sauce with the egg roll- hopefully that was a mistake! The pork fried rice and kung pao shrimp were also pretty good, but again, not the best I've ever had. The crab rangoons were really good and probably the highlight of the meal for me. Next time I am craving Chinese food and want take-out from somewhere near my house, I'll be ordering from Golden House. Was it the best Chinese I've ever had? No. But it was definitely good enough!

For cheap and fast Chinese food you can't go wrong. I always get it delivered. They are consistent, fast and good! So far I've ordered egg drop soup, shrimp and broccoli combo, and orange chicken combo. The egg drop soup is a little too salty for me otherwise it tastes good.

After a long travel day, all we wanted was something quick and good a.k.a. Thai food. But we couldn't find any close to the hotel so we settled for the local Chinese place around the corner. We settled on the crab rangoon, hot & sour soup and the Hunan chicken. The crab rangoon and hot & sour soup (not very spicy BTW) were average contrary to the rave reviews posted. However, the Hunan chicken was a hit. Tender chicken combined with yummy veggies and white rice. This would be the only dish I would order again. Much to our chagrin, we discovered a Thai place around the corner :( Should have checked with Yelp first.

What a dump. The food is mediocre and the place is gross. The red fabric chairs where you sit and wait for your take-out are dark with grime. The owner (I think) kept staring at me while I waited for my order. There were other people in there but he was staring at me. It wasn't that he was day dreaming; he was Jeepers Creepers staring at just me. There were about 5-6 people in there too. It was unnerving but oddly entertaining. This place is so weird and so bad, you have to try it.

I called for a delivery order and the person was rude and behaved as if was interrupting her day. She gave the phone to someone else when she couldn't understand me and he was equally . I cancelled the order due to poor customer service

The hot and sour soup was neither, and honestly tasted quite old. The mu shu did not come with pancakes or hoisin sauce. The rice was stale. I do not trust the soft plastic to-go containers not to leach chemicals into the food. The eggrolls, however, were probably the best I have ever eaten anywhere.

Saturday night, I had a very important date with my couch and DVR but before I could get to business, I had a major itch to scratch. That itch involved Chinese food. Obviously I wasn't going to go sit down in restaurant and eat by myself when I had more pressing issues (such as catching up on Breaking Bad) so I ask Yelp where to get some awesome Chinese carry out and walla...hello Golden House! First thing to know about Golden House is it is strictly carry out. Don't expect to get sit down service because that's not happening. Second, it's a bit divey. They obviously didn't spend too much money on decor, which is how I like my Chinese restaurants. I have a serious love for any sort of Chow Foon, so as soon as I saw that on the menu, I was sold. My beef chow foon certainly did not let down either. Not too oily, with tons of beef, green onions, mushrooms and carrots. I could not have asked for a better dish to start off my TV watching marathon. This was the only dish I tried so I can't give it 5 stars YET. But I can promise you I will return and it will be glorious.

Considering the glowing reviews for this place, my experience can be explained in one of two ways: A) The real cook was out that day, his backup was sick and the cook in training was on vacation. Or... B) (With my Morpheus from The Matrix sunglasses and leather coat on) "You've been living in a dream world, Neo. This place isn't that great." I ordered Beef and Broccoli and Lo Mein. I got Broccoli and Beef Shavings. The beef was thin, dry and took a lot of chewing to get down. The sauce on it was just okay. The Lo Mein was bland and because it was combination Lo Mein, my wife and I had a short spat over who was being inconsiderate by eating all of the meat. We reconstructed the crime scene and realized that there were maybe two chunks of chicken, one shrimp and possibly a beef shaving in there. The egg rolls were okay. Not great. Just okay. If you eat Chinese Food sparingly, then you'll probably like it. If you grew up in the city and ate it at least once or twice a week...you've had better somewhere else.

It literally took an hour to get my food I was not pleased at all. The food was ok but definitely not worth the long wait. Fu Shing Cafe is much better, they are a lot faster and better quality.

The food here is tolerable, roughly what you might expect from a cheap, mediocre carry-out. I've ordered from here many times, not expecting much more than that. However, as of today, I'm not going back. I usually pay $2.00 extra for extra chicken. Today I ordered the same thing, paying $2.00 extra for extra chicken in a chicken and broccoli dish. Tonight they failed to add the extra chicken. I called to let them know. The person I spoke with refused to accept my statement that the cook had failed to add the extra chicken. She just refused to acknowledge that is what happened. I asked whether next time I could get the extra chicken without having to pay the $2. I thought that was reasonable. But she said absolutely not - it is the responsibility of the customer to look at each dish when picking it up to make sure the extra chicken was added. I thought this was ridiculous, and told her I would henceforth patronize one of the other many Chinese restaurants in Bethesda. A better business would acknowledge that the customer might just be right on occasion.

Just got delivery from here... There was HAIR, 4 long strands, in my chicken fried rice. I called and they seemed to be very used to this. They simply told me to order something else. I hesitated but agreed. What I picked costs a dollar more, so I was told that I have to pay the difference. At that point I was so disgusted by how un-phased by my phone call they were I told them I wanted a refund. They insisted I order more food. I hung up and called "allmenus.com", the website I ordered the food from, and asked them to get the refund for me. Which they did. Creepy side note. When they were asking me to order something new, they asked me to keep the food with the hair and return it to them. Is this standard protocol for them? Never again.

I ordered delivery online from Golden House on a Monday night. Generally when I order from restaurants with 3.5 stars, I have pretty mediocre standards, but still expect to get what I ordered and for the food to be edible. Unfortunately, Golden House doesn't even deserve mediocre. First off, we ordered 4 items and only got 3... super annoying when the combination fried rice is what makes the meal complete and it's missing. On top of that, the food was just not good. Period. The crab rangoons were cold and tasted like plain cream cheese. The broccoli in garlic sauce was overcooked and just sopped in greasy sauce. The general tso's chicken was just okay (potentially the highlight of the meal?), but again, I wanted my fried rice to accompany it! When I called to ask about the fried rice, the woman told me that she needed to wait until the driver returned. When the driver returned, he insisted he had sent me lo mein instead. Not true? And not what I ordered.. Poor quality, poor customer service... just not worth it. Honestly, I'd advise against ordering from these guys. Disappointing given they have decent reviews. Bottom line: If you want delivery in Bethesda, stick with Mei Wah or Foong Lin. And if you want take out, look no further than Shanghai Village. Best Chinese I've had in a LONG time.

  • Hayes W.

This place is okay if you're looking for something close, but from my experience do not expect it to arrive quickly. The wait was approx. 1 hour. I ordered the General Tso's and 2 egg rolls. It's your typical Chinese food, nothing to write home about. I was a little bummed that they didn't include chop sticks in my bag, but I had some sitting around. I'll call them again if I'm in a pinch, but maybe try something with a better rating.

    (3)
  • Leon B.

I think their lunch specials are a great deal, especially their general tso's chicken, which is some of the best I've even had. I will deduct points, however, because they make terrible chicken lo-mein (very soggy and lacks flavor). Definitely wish I didn't try their chicken lo-mein twice!

This a no frills take out/delivery place that should be a staple on every Bethesda resident's list. Deliciously crispy General Tso's. Brown rice options for $1 extra. There's a huge vegetarian section also. Oh, and their chicken rice soup (light and invigorating, and not too harsh on one's stomach) was the only thing that sustained me through a lengthy illness. They'd deliver to my apartment and were always friendly. Great service, short delivery times.

I pass this Chinese shack every day on my walk from NIH to Fitness First. One day on my way back to NIH, I decided to stop and grab a bite to eat. It was still pretty early, almost noon or so. As this is when I normally take lunch, I figured it wasn't too early for Chinese food (Never too early for chinese food!). This is not your eat-in Chinese place. A few chairs for waiting; you order, you pick up, you leave. They will deliver within a 3 mile radius, but if you're local, you might as well just go pick it up. Great menu of food, a lot of vegetarian dishes (I think the whole back of the menu is vegetarian). Reasonably priced. I'm a fan of spicy, so for my first excursion into Golden House, I opted for the General Tso's chicken with white rice instead of fried (I personally don't eat fried rice). There was a lunch special that came with an egg roll, and including tax, it was a little over $6. Not bad at all! Food was ready very quickly. Brought it back to my office, and I love the way they include a fork, napkins, packet sauces, and fortune cookie inside a little rice paper wrapper! The food came LOADED in a styrofoam clamshell box. The broccoli that comes with the chicken was fresh, the chicken was just slightly crunchy on the outside (I love that!), and while I would have preferred more heat in the sauce, it was definitely flavorful. It definitely won't be my last time going there. I've got a few other favorite dishes I need to try out before calling them the best in Bethesda.

I was very impressed with this place. Of all the chinese restaurants I have eaten in Bethesda, Golden house stands alone! The delivery guy was awesome and the food was pretty delicious, given the fact its a tiny little shack. This is def a hole in the wall!

They have the best eggrolls in Montgomery County hands down (although sometimes they are greasier than others, but a paper towel and a little squeeze can get rid of excess oil)... GREAT Lunch specials and they will make food with little oil if asked. Shrimp and Brocolli is my go-to for lunches and it is right near my work so that makes me happy!

I like to think of Golden House as "the meal that got away." Not because the place was closed or anything but rather because I had an amazing lunch there followed immediately by a tragic reaction to some painkillers I was on (so, you know, goodbye fabulous meal). But I returned well and hungry for a second round, hoping that the place could stand up to the pedestal that my root-canal addled brain had placed it on. And boy howdy could it ever! I ordered delivery via allmenus.com and it arrived freakishly fast. The hot and sour soup was amazing, the wonton soup was tasty (though not great) and the chicken in garlic sauce was really spot-on. I like their rice well enough; it's not very sticky but it reheats fine. Everything was great the next day, too. Except the hot and sour soup which I demolished in under 2 minutes (yes, that good). This is my go-to takeout and delivery place in Bethesda!

Speedy delivery of very good Chinese food. The Kung Pao bean curd is perfection with crispy tofu, a light and flavorful sauce, peanuts and water chestnuts. The veggie fried rice is excellent too, and the spring rolls are above average. This place is not breaking any new ground but it does what it does very well.

For Chinese carry-out, Golden House is great. It always looked a little sketchy when I use to drive by it. But now that I live around here, I tried it one night and I was sold. It's crazy too because of all the restaurants and food options in Bethesda, this one gets a few more visits than expected. This is a carry-out/delivery only place, and they got the operation down. We've had fast delivery twice, but usually we pick up. We call, make our order, and it's ready in about 10minutes. Favorite Appetizers: *Spring rolls are good *Bean Curd w/ Vegetable soup was a good portion and hearty *Dumplings, typical and good Favorite Entrees: *Vegetable fried rice *General Tso's chicken *Sesame chicken *Seafood delight *Singapore Rice Noodle (awesome) *Vegetable Chow Foon (fat noodles w/ veg, great) it's fast, it's good, it's classic Chinese carry-out.

I've ordered take out from Golden House a few times. The quality of food is decidedly worse than the typical Chinese take out joint (and that is often iffy at best). There isn't anything I ordered that I would get again. Fried rice is tasteless. Meat and other ingredients just taste poor quality. In its defense, my very picky daughter loves their chicken teriyaki on a stick appetizer. Unfortunately, I can't bring myself to order anything else when I decide to get her a treat!

  • Olivia L.

This is Americanized Cantonese-style cooking in a take-out shack. I ordered 4 dishes and they were all basically the same, with very small differences: Szechuan string beans: String beans in a brownish sauce Hunan chicken: Chix, broccoli, carrots, baby corn in a brownish sauce Sichuan chicken: Chix, broccoli, carrots, baby corn in a reddish sauce Broccoli with garlic sauce: broccoli, carrots, baby corn + canned mushrooms (Are you sensing a pattern??) Basically, all the dishes (except the string beans) were the same! Same broccoli, same carrots, same baby corn, stir fried with different sauces (which were mostly corn starch....mmmm). You will not find Szechuan peppercorns in any of the Szechuan dishes, or the flaming Hunan fire in any of the Hunan dishes. Everything is pretty tame, even at the "extra spicy setting". So it's good (lots of meat + fresh broccoli), but you have to set your expectations appropriately.

A good ten-minute hike from the subway in Bethesda, but worth those steps. I'd been meaning to stop in here for over a year; something about that tiny, out-of-place building building gave me the idea that Golden House had great food. They don't, but it's as good or better than any alternative that I've found (I welcome suggestions, though). Walked in, placed an order for beef egg foo young combo. It was ready in maybe 5 or 6 minutes (which I appreciated, since I'd already killed a bunch of time waiting in line at the Burger Joint). Like $6.25, they took plastic, and I was out the door. Food was exactly on par with City Lights, but was better than City Lights in that it was prepared much faster, was less expensive, and came with as part of a combo (which City Lights claims not to offer for take-out orders). Fried rice was actually pretty bad: frozen carrots and peas, pretty dried out, bad flavor. Nothing spicy mustard can't cure. Love the fact that they rush orders out during the lunch hour (speed is rare in these parts), and the character of the seat-less building (character is even more rare in these parts) is worth at least a portion of a star. This'll be my go-to Chinese in Bethesda until they slip me a hair in my food or start imposing arbitrary purchase minimums on credit card orders or some other nonsense. Good stuff.

Little Chinese place right below the double tree! The food was hot and plentiful. Coming from Florida, the bar was already low, but even then it was delicious. Not blow-yours-socks-off delicious, but great for a late-night meal after a grueling day of grant review. Service was also friendly. You're A-OK, Golden House 2!!

Don't be fooled by the small exterior. At first I was skeptical, and thought it looked mad sketchy. But I was wrong! This place rocks! If you're craving a last minute late-night Chinese meal, this is the place to go! They also have fast delivery. Basically, you will get all the classic fast-food Chinese dishes freshly made. And everything tastes good, and they give nice sized portions. Can't go wrong with this place. Apparently they've been around for around 12 years!

I have gone to Golden House 2 several times now and each time I have had a great experience. I especially liked the chow mein! They offer coupons on their website as well.

I will say, I was skeptical when I saw the tiny building that housed the kitchen, but upon going in, I realized what a well run operation it was. This place gets very, very busy during lunch time, but still it takes only about 5 minutes for your order to come up. While my first few experiences here were quite good, as of late, the food has suffered. Each time I go, I like to try something different, wrong thing to do I guess. Each time I go back, I'm surprised they screw up traditional american-ized chinese again, and again. It's not that it will make you sick or anything like that, but rather, it's just bland. Very, very bland.

this place is a dime for chinese food! most people don't know about it, but they do a great job of producing quality food at a great cost. They have a great lunch special, and meal special! You can not eat here though, only delivery and carry out

I wanted to like this place so badly - the building is so cute! But, for a variety of reasons - NO NO NO NO NO! First - when my husband and his friend were picking up our food, they saw a mouse scurry across the floor. No lie. They chose not to tell me when they got home because they were so hungry (typical guys) so we ate the food anyways. Second - most of the food honestly wasn't good. The sweet and sour chicken was actually so cardboard-esque that our friend couldn't finish it... and he's an Army dude used to eating less than phenomenal foods! My chicken and broccoli didn't taste bad, but that's because it had no taste at all. The veggie lo mein was the same. On the good side, the steamed rice was actually quite good and an appropriate stickyness. My husband said the General Tso's chicken was quite good as well. I still wouldn't go back, though. Mouse + mostly tasteless food outranks good rice. There are other places around here where we don't have to worry about rodents.

Don't be fooled by the exterior appearance of this place - it's a shack, but the food is delicious. I have been here several times now, and have really enjoyed almost everything I've ordered. I didn't like the egg rolls much, but tonight we had the steamed dumplings for an appetizer and they were awesome. We also had the kung pao chicken, which was not greasy at all, and was loaded with fresh vegetables and peanuts. The bean curd homestyle was also excellent. The prices are very reasonable, and they offer coupons for free food (fried rice, egg rolls, etc.) if you order over a certain amount. The lunch specials are really cheap and the portions are huge - definitely enough for more than one meal. There's also free parking behind the building (not that there's room to sit and eat inside the building, but you can park there while you pick up your food). I will definitely keep coming back here!

Since moving to Bethesda, it's been a challenge finding out all of the eateries nearby who will deliver when I'm too lazy to walk there myself. After having their menu appear in my mailbox, I decided to give them a try. I actually ordered from them online at allmenus.com . I had low expectations due to the disastrous food I had from North Sea a few months back but ordered anyway. This was seriously some of the fastest delivery I've ever experienced. And the food was piping hot and delicious. On my first order, I had sesame chicken and dumplings. On a different day, I had the beef chow foon and spring rolls. No complaints on any dish - all were very good! Not even really that greasy which is always a plus. Their steamed white rice barely passes my "sticky rice" test but as long as everything else is good, I can just make my own in my rice cooker that plugs in and you don't have to put in a microwave. (Apparently, some "Asians" use "rice cookers" you use in a microwave.) Despite their so-so sticky rice, Golden House 2 has officially become my new go-to delivery Chinese spot in Bethesda. Bonus that I can order from them online!

wow, it's pretty tasty. I ordered the twice cooked pork medium spicy- it was delicious! the veggies were cooked perfectly and the flavor was great. Next, shrimp lo mein, it was pretty good but I had to add a soy sauce pack to it. The best part: they delivery and fast! and even better part: you can order online! yep! I didn't even have to pick up a phone to call them, and they were here with nice hot food faster than I would have ever expected! this is my new delivery place!

I owe my love of this place 100% to Yelp. We were having a major Chinese craving one night while visiting in Bethesda and we stumbled upon the previous review of this place. Seeing 5 stars for a take out Chinese place we knew we just had to try it. It did not disappoint one bit. In fact it even went above what I could possibly have anticipated (I had just gotten back from a trip to Beijing and had REAL Chinese food). For the first time in America I had Chinese food that wasn't greasy! Since then we have ordered from this place at least 5 more times and not once have we gotten something we didn't love. My absolute standby dish for a good quality Chinese place is Hot & Sour Soup, and this is easily one of the best. I'm not sure how they make their eggrolls, but they come out crisp yet not overly fried, almost like they press them instead of deep-frying. The portions are very generous, and they recently started putting them in these great new plastic containers that store so much better in the fridge than the typical white paper boxes. Also when we used to get delivery they were very fast, however they have a very small radius, so make sure you're within 3 miles if you don't want to pick it up. But if you have to drive it's worth it! If you're wondering how I can love it even more than I thought and still gave it only 4 stars it comes down to the simple fact it's still a Chinese take out place. While the food is GREAT for what you're getting, it's nearly impossible to give this a perfect score after experiencing Peking Duck in Beijing and Szechuan Beef in the heart of the mainland. If Yelp ever does a Carryout Championship this place would definitely take the crown.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
