Benn here many times as mutual fund wholesalers take us here for lunch from work. Have to admit that everything is "ok".... The bar is fine, although I'm not a fan of my gin & tonic with a single HUGE ice cube. I like it like it's normally made, with a lot of single cubes! The portions are generous, but meh? Nothing is spectacular, but nothing is horrible either. The burgers are good, the chicken is so-so, the pasta "tries too hard" to be special, but again....meh? Good location, right next to the Bethesda Metro station, but parking is somewhat of a challenge as you'll have to park in the Hilton Hotel parking garage.

The service (Randy) was epic. The food was pretty awful. Worst Manhattan clam chowder I've ever had. Couldn't finish a cup of it. Worst Ahi tacos ever. The IPA was good. For that (two appetizers and a draft beer) I left $35 poorer. Yeah, I should have heeded the couple demanding to see the manager when I walked in...

Went there for lunch few weeks ago. Service was great and the food was excellent. The place is a little pricy but the price is justified by quality and portions are quite big. I had salmon and it was the best salmon I've ever had. Absolutely delish! I'll will be back.

Do NOT go here. The service sucks! Thirty minutes to get a drink at the bar. Outside service was even worse. Flat drinks, and the food is not worth it at all. Worst experience ever

Had a dinner and attended a wedding reception here, the food is good-ok and service is ok. Some of the food is better than other. Their hummus is very very good.

I was surprised to see this Daily Grill with such a low rating- i went to the one in Georgetown and had fantastic service and a delicious bagel and lox. My SO was craving some B&L so I suggested Daily Grill and went to the one closer to our home. While in the car, we were reading the yelp reviews and we initially dismissed it as pretentious people who want perfection because Bethesda attracts that kind of crowd. The longer we were at this restaurant, the more apparent it became to us exactly why no one likes this restaurant. First of all, we came in around 11am during "brunch"- anyone who's lived in the area long enough knows that every semi-decent brunch place is PACKED during said brunch. This place was dead empty. The SO ordered the aforementioned bagel and lox, I had the grilled lime chicken salad, along with two coffees. I asked for my dressing on the side. The brunch item comes with complimentary monkey bread, we obliged. That was the highlight of our meal- this 1000 or so calorie slice of monkey bread was bomb-diggity. Perfectly warm, moist, and a good bit of salt to balance out the sweetness. Our coffee was pretty good too so at that point, I was thinking "The food is good, this is at least 4 stars!" So when our entrees came out along with the subsequent service thereafter is why my 4-star opinion slid down to a two. My salad was a hot mess. To preface this rant against the salad the description of this salad reads "mixed greens with lime chicken, asparagus, chopped vegetables, tomatoes, avocado, fennel and corn with citrus vinaigrette". Whatever I received was definitely not that. My dressing was not on the side as I requested. I received a slimy, wilty, over-dressed lukewarm salad which is exactly why I hate pre-dressed salads. This was made with cruddy yellow romaine lettuce, not mixed greens. No asparagus in sight. And whatever "citrus" element there was supposed to be is non-existent, I forgot what type of salad I ordered until I googled it again. Sad, greasy, rubbery, pieces of sauteed vegetables in this beige color characteristic of something just sadly pushed around a sautee pan in too much oil and not enough heat. My "healthy" little salad left a nice yellow grease slick on the bottom of the plate. The flavors were just underwhelming and I am ashamed that I paid 14 dollars for a salad. I ended up picking out all the little veg bits because they were so unappetizing (and I tend to eat anything!) The SO's B&L was as good as I remembered (not AS good but still good) but jesus, that salad was so terrible. We kind of felt like we were pulling teeth here with the lackluster service. We had to request just about everything that would have automatically came to the table at any other semi-decent restaurant (water, creamer for the coffee, more coffee, etc.) If it was busy, I understand, but we were one of two tables in our server's section. This place just had this sad, apathetic climate that is just incredibly unappealing and despite fantastic monkey bread and bagel and lox, I am hard-pressed to return. Long story short, stick to the Georgetown location.

I was heading to another establishment for a late night meal & couldn't locate it due to name changes I guess, so back tracked to a place next to the Metro. I'm glad I didn't let the 4 people sitting at the bar detour me from going in as the kitchen & bar was still open for another 1.5 hours, last call at 12:55AM. The Bartender Shelton was on point, from the time I walked in. He greeted me with a very sociable approach, not thirsty for a tip, yet genuinely cool. He asked my seating preference & took my drink order right way, of course a glass of Malbec (will expound on that later). I was surprised that the menu had the variations of food it did & wasn't the typical late night hotel bar food of wings & fries. I was hesitant of the calamari in which proved me right as the seasoning was very bland & tasted like water & flour. After my modifications I had a few pieces but it wasn't tasty enough to finish. I ordered the Seared Ahi Tuna Sashimi, that really made up for the bland appetizer. It was perfectly seared & seasoned & the presentation was done masterfully. I wanted the Ahi Tuna Tacos yet the Chef stated they would not have been as good with the larger flour tortillas oppose to the corn ones he uses, I opted for the seared option. It's always a nice benefit when the Chef takes the time out to speak customers, especially late in the evening. The dish didn't disappoint & was very delicious. As usual, I had my glass of Malbec & due to the nice portions of my entree, another glass was required. I opted for the bottle since its basically 4 glasses of a great pour. I asked for the price knowing it would be high due to the setting...but didn't expect it to be that much. Understood the mark up being a restaurant adjacent to the Hyatt & sharing location with another restaurant (Morton's Steakhouse is in the front), but a triple mark up? STOP THAT...LOL! It was a bottle of Massimo that you can get for $11-13 a bottle. They do offer a $15 Cork Fee, which isn't too bad for the area. It really was a decent price for dining & drinking close to midnight & perfect convenience, as its literally a few steps from the Bethesda Metro. I'll definitely be back to try something else on the menu, darn sure won't be the calamari again...& will debate on glass vs bottle. Or just bring a bottle from home :-) Shelton's customer service & friendly interaction was excellent & worth every dollar spent. Kudos to Shelton!!!

I came here for lunch twice while I was attending a meeting nearby. I had the Cobb salad on one occasion and the blackened ahi tuna salad on another visit. The Cobb salad was good, but I wish that the chicken had more flavor. The cheese, avocado and bacon that were in the salad were good. The next time I visited I had the blackened ahi tuna salad and that was outstanding! The salad came with fresh ahi tuna that had a nice pepper seasoning, green beans, toasted almonds and a ginger dressing. I will definitely return for the ahi tuna salad. I sat at the bar both times and the service was quick and attentive. No complaints here. This place is frequently visited since it's in the Hyatt which has tons of visitors.

I can't say that I was thrilled with Daily Grill because this was my first visit, and my server Erick was not very attentive he came over and took my order then disappeared. He never came back to see if I needed anything, I had to flag down another worker to get a refill on iced tea. I had noticed a lady had asked him to set up some tables outside because she was meeting some people for happy hour, I mean I understand that you have other tables but I just felt like he forgot about me. He did not do a very good job, I got a burger cooked well done and it was very pink he did not listen when I told him well done. The only good thing about the meal were the fries and the brownie dessert. I left him a $2 tip and I will not be coming back here again. I was observing the staff @ the bar and they seemed to be socializing and not doing their job. :(

Came for lunch because of the location and because of the fact they take reservations. The service was pretty bad-- still waiting for that glass of water but the kitchen made up for the lackluster service-- the seared ahi tuna salad is incredible and I would absolutely go back for that.

Gave it another chance and have officially proclaimed never again. I went for brunch at 11 a.m. with my son and two grandchildren, ages 5 and 2. We were greeted at the door of an empty restaurant with the question of whether we wanted to sit in the bar. With two youngsters, we wanted to sit in one of about 50 booths that were empty. After being seated, the server took our order and then the very bad service commenced. My son ordered a Coke, which after two reminders appeared. I ordered rye toast with my eggs and when the order came, the server told me they were out of rye...so she suggested multi-grain. That was fine with me but it never came. After finishing the meal, my son had to find anyone, who turned out to be the original greeter, to order the hot fudge sundaes that came with the kids' meals because the server never came back. When I asked if the table could be cleared of the dirty dishes by our server, I was told she was in the bathroom. Eventually, one dish of ice cream, no fudge, came but we had two kids' meals. By then, we gave up and got out. It's a shame that a restaurant with no customers could have no service for the one table that showed up. I repeat, NEVER AGAIN.

Solid breakfast spot in the Hyatt with very good omelettes, egg dishes, and healthier options including granola and yogurt. Decent draft list also and a couple good beers in bottles as well for happy hour. Appetizers are also good.

After a long day I just wanted a beer and a bite to eat without having to leave the hotel on a rainy night. I wasn't feeling picky but whatever I was looking for I didn't find it here. The staff was dismissive and rude. I'll admit that I'm transgender so maybe they are more polite and helpful to others but reading the other reviews I'm beginning to doubt it. The beers on the menu offered few options but that didn't matter because they were out of almost all of them. The menu is terribly overpriced and the selections were uninspired. The next time I'm in town I'll bite the bullet and get a cab to eat anywhere else.

It has a nice interior. And so ends the positive portion of this review. I don't normally eat at restaurants like The Daily Grill, because they cater to a transitory business clientele and generally serve lackluster food. Somehow, despite an enormous menu, the majority of the items are bog-standard unappealing American dishes (Tuna Melt! Hamburger!), interspersed with ethnic-sounding foods (Hummus! Tacos!). Being turned off by the majority of the menu, I deigned to try the "Moroccan Spiced Chicken". The chicken was "okay", though dry. The brown rice was slightly under-cooked and had no seasoning. The grilled vegetables had no seasoning. The tzatziki, which was somewhat flavorful though perhaps a tad under-garliced, was served in such a tiny quantity that it was gone within the first few bites. That was a shame, as it was the only (barely) positive note of the dish. Tzatziki can save almost any meal, and I wish they'd served more. The service was remarkably bad, too, but I was present at the lunch rush and I don't like to gripe about poor service. The best I can say about the Daily Grill is that it's inoffensive. If you want to take someone on a business lunch to a vaguely upscale restaurant, but you don't want to spend too much money (The Daily Grill is spendy, especially for what they serve, but it's not a Morton's, etc.) and you don't care about the quality of the food, then The Daily Grill is probably a good bet.

What happened to happy hour at this place? (This review is for HH only - not dinner). Daily Grill used to be a go-to destination for happy hour for my work place - no longer, (and clearly, they have new management). Happy hour specials used to be exactly that... awesome apps for $3-$4 - and plenty of them. I admit, management surely needed to raise prices to make any money but please, if you go as a group and order any apps that are now $8-$9, forget it. You might as well pay for dinner somewhere else! The portions are TINY - and I'm from Europe where we're used to tiny portions, but these so-called happy hour apps are a rip-off. I left HH with co workers and went elsewhere for dinner. I was starving. Talk about mean portions. Do NOT order the pizza on HH... it was three bites of micro thin cut up pizza... What a cruel disappointment. You can go elsewhere and get a real, full pizza for a just a few dollars more. Also, their drink specials are nothing 'special' either - 4 cocktails and a build your own margarita at $9... with a waitress who knew nothing about margaritas. The version I received was mediocre. Excuse my American vernacular, but there ain't nothing special about that. I will say that their outdoor patio makes up for a lot of the negatives if you manage to catch a lovely 80-degree, no-humidity day and don't mind 'island pace' service. And if you just are after that wine-sipping ambience, it's not a bad place. Maybe this is a deliberate policy by management to discourage the happy hour crowd - and I have nothing against having dinner here, as the food quality itself is decent. But now, they don't comp parking and it's just not a deal like it used to be. For anyone who wants decent HH that's less fancy - head to the Tyber Bierhaus, just across the street (down Old Georgetown).

I will make it a point to put the Daily Grill on my schedule even though it's a really long walk from my office. It's worth the walk for the Seared Ahi Tuna Appetizer alone. Always perfectly done and you gotta love the the fried spinach and cucumbers that come with it. Truly a perfect pairing!

While they say they are open until midnight on weekends, I was there tonight when last call was given at 11:30 and when my food arrived at 11:45 and I asked for a second glass of wine they said "sorry" we already gave last call. I talked to the manager who said the same thing....they serve food until midnight but apparently, if you don't order a drink when they give last call at 11:30 you are out of luck. The place was packed and they couldn't seem to handle it. So, its not a place to go late at night.....too bad...I've been going there for years but apparently management has changed and they don't need the late night business. Otherwise if you get there early in the evening and they have enough help, the food and service is generally fine.

We went to the Daily Grill for breakfast last weekend. The menu is standard hotel fare. But what was really disappointing was the terrible coffee that is served. It is bitter, watery and in a town that likes to drink lots of Joe this sloppy feature makes it unlikely I would ever return. No excuse. Wash your coffee urns and use good quality brew.

Went for dinner tonight and the food and drinks where fairly decent. I think it was a bit over priced for what you got and think the money would be better served at a place like Cyldes Tower Oaks. The service was a bit spotty at first taking longer then you would think to get drinks and we had to catch our waitress's attention when we wanted to order. That said once food started coming out they seemed to be taking care of the group well refilling drinks, clearing plates, act. In all good place and did not need a reservation for 8 more then a few days out (frankly probably could have got one that same day) but would say take your money elsewhere if you are not in a pinch.

4 stars only due to convenience and variety of very decent food. Otherwise, if reviewing only for food, it would probably be a solid 3. Came here for a lunch with colleagues. I had the entre Lime Chicken salad-- large serving, very flavorful and price points were reasonable. Others had grilled vegtable plate and other entre salads. Everyone was thoroughly pleased with their choices and they certainly looked good. I was a little leary about this place given the reviews are all over the board but I think this is a solid 3 and leans into being a 4. I'm not convinced this would be a favorite for dinner but certainly perfect for groups and happy hours.

So, I am unsure as to why The Daily Grill gets knocked. I get that it's in a hotel lobby (something I found helpful as a traveler) and it was occasionally quite busy, but I found the food and the service consistently pleasant and above what was expected (perhaps because of all the reviews). Over a four day stay, I was in the DG three times, and was only disappointed by service once...but it was lunch rush and I got was I asked for. Experience 1: Sunday afternoon arrival. This was a success. Not only did they have wonderful deals on modified menu items for Sunday branch, but they had great drink deals that I took advantage of. Nothing special, but a few beers, a few different drinks, and plenty that was palatable for any one. It was ok. The peppercorn burger was a brilliant success. Loved it along with the sweet potato fries. The bartender even dug up some honey mustard, a staple for me with SP fries. Experience 2: dinner for two One my dearest friends lives in the DC metro area and suggested versus searching around for a place to meet, we just stay there. It was an inspired idea. The formal dining side had a lovely decor and attentive service. As always, I asked for the servers recommendation and was not let down. The delicious pork chops that I received were meaty, perfectly cooked, and paired with a delicious fruit chutney that brought so much flavor to the game. I wouldn't have ordered that, as I'm rarely happy with pork chops, but am so glad I did! As this was a catch up dinner, we were happy to have time to eat, we were not interrupted or rushed, and really enjoyed ourselves. It's location right over a garage and metro station didn't hurt! Experience 3: lunch rush This one was not so positive, but I asked for it. The greeter said it was a 30-45 wait, and it was busy. Spotting an empty seat at the bar and knowing that I had to leave for the airport in 30 minutes didn't stop me...so, I ordered and I sat. Was I disappointed that it took 15 minutes to get my drink and another 20 for the food that I ate in the car to the airport...yes, but I was not surprised. I tried to cheat the system and it laughed at me. This is a good place with solid food and plenty of options. The service was as or better than expected and when at its peak, it was great.

I went there for lunch a few days ago. I ordered Grilled lime chicken salad lunch size. It was one of the best salads that I've had. I really liked it. Service was great. The interior design was also nice and price was reasonable for the size and quality of food.

Went here for Sunday brunch. Despite the fact that their portions are a bit small, they have a quality atmosphere for breakfast and it's reasonably priced. Although it's in the Hyatt, it doesn't seem as touristy as some downtown DC hotel restaurants are.

Wife and I went for an anniversary. From the moment we walked in, we felt welcome. Every person we came in contact with, were great. The food was excellent and the prices were right on par. There was so many options to make sure you would be covered no matter what you wanted. We will be back very soon.

While staying in the attached Hyatt, my wife and I tried this place for a late lunch. It was absolutely empty at lunch time on a Sat. I had not been back since my mediocre experience in 2012. I ordered a vodka martini and my wife ordered some sort of sweet cocktail. I could see the bartender and full bar from where I sat. The bartender was prepping for dinner service and not busy at all. It took him a full 15 min to make our drinks and bring them. When my martini arrived, it was literally half empty. I do not mean a half inch from the top of the rim, I mean HALF empty. I complained and I was told "that is how he makes them". Well, then this is "how I send it back". I told her it was unacceptable and I would appreciate a full glass for the $14 they were charging for Grey Goose. I watched closely as she went back to the bartender. He took a tumbler, filled it with ice, poured my drink back in and shook... a lot. He tried to pour the watered down mixture back into my glass and it still wasn't much fuller. I then watched him repeat this about 2-3 more times!! Seriously!?! Is there a worldwide shortage on Grey Goose? Eventually the drink came back, but I was already very aware of the "hey just fill it up with water for the complainer" method that occurred. I asked for the manager. He listened to my problem and said he would remake my drink himself. I watched him go to the bartender and talk. The bartender was now looking across the restaurant and scowling at me. It wasn't hard to know who complained, because we were the only people in the restaurant!! Then they bartender had to go to the back kitchen 3x during our meal. 2 of those times he walked right past our table, rolled his eye and shook his head as he passed. Really? So this is the level of customer service that Daily Grill accepts as okay? The service was horrible, the food was just okay, and I didn't dare order another martini! The manager took the martini off the bill which was nice of him. I didn't bother telling him about the attitude I witnessed from the bartender. My wife's cocktail was all ice and 2 sips later was empty. $13 for a glass of ice and 2 sips... what a bargain. This experience sealed it for me. I will never go back to Daily Grill again. If I were at the corp office, I would fire the management and start over. You have some real problems here.

One of the more mediocre dining experiences in Bethesda. Walking in disappointed. Walking out frustrated. Every dish was very unoriginal and uninspiring. I thought at least I'd get the Hyatt points for eating there this time and was later informed that since the restaurant is separate from the Hyatt Regency, I wouldn't get any points eating this crap. Definitely not up to Bethesda's par.

You know it's going to be a bad experience at a restaurant when you are already talking about doing a Yelp review and you haven't even gotten the drinks yet. But alas, that's where me and a few of my friends found ourselves this morning at brunch. Here's a somewhat short breakdown of the problems I (we) experienced, and why I will not be returning: Service: lackluster. Took forever to get drinks, and we had to ask for every little thing. Something to stir the coffee, plates so we could enjoy the pastries, water refills, you name it. The restaurant was empty, so I don't understand what the hold up was. The food itself did not take as long, although one order was clearly forgotten and did take extra time to come out. Food: Not the worst I've ever had, but as someone who loves eggs benedict, I was shocked and disgusted by what I was served (picture is included on this page). Instead of cutting open the egg and having it spill out over my plate, the egg was SOLID and clearly not cooked the way it should have been. Four people at the table ordered this item, only one had it cooked the right way. As an establishment that boasts a Sunday brunch, they should learn Cooking 101. The fact that it came out to my table is shocking. Other than that, again, not terrible. But also not good enough to outweigh the other problems. So, in short, I will not be returning. The Daily Grill seems to think of itself as a high class establishment, but it has a ways to go before I will ever consider it close. *On a side note, after using the restroom I observed a waitress who did NOT wash her hands. Other than being just plain lazy, it's disgusting and gross. Grow up!

The Daily Grill...a nice spot for breakfast. This was my first time here for breakfast and it was quite good. I had the steak & eggs which was tasty. The staff was friendly and attentive. I'd put the Daily Grill in rotation for breakfast.

Absolutely delicious. Really, to state otherwise would sell the quality of the product short. I visited on a late Saturday afternoon. The Daily Grill was so quiet that upon initially approaching, I thought it may have been closed. As I sat the bar, however, patrons began filing in. Most indicated reservations, so I assume this can be a busy place. The service of the wait staff was excellent. Other visitors to the bar seemed to be locals and on friendly terms with the tenders. However, the staff treated me just the same and made me very welcome. I began my meal with a salad with the house dressing. It may have been a bit overdressed but, nevertheless, tasted excellent, so I find it difficult to complain. Based on the bartender's recommendation, I ordered Tuscan Chicken, which was excellent. The meat was blackened to perfection, large in quantity, and sufficiently juicy that my mouth waters now recalling it. I order grilled vegetables with my main course and these, too, were superb. Large mushrooms and zucchini stood out as particularly tasty. I would highly recommend choosing the grilled vegetables as the partner to whatever entrée you pick. But, on that note, I would also recommend the Brick Chicken that I so greatly enjoyed. Yelp indicates that attire at the Daily Grille is "casual." I think "business casual" may be a more accurate description. A great experience; I definitely recommend the Daily Grill in Bethesda.

This review is for Happy Hour only. After non-stop happy hour raving from my friend, she finally trapped me into joining a bunch of friends at Daily Grill last night. Off of the Happy Hour menu, we ordered: 6 Chicken Pot Pies- Mixed Reviews. Just a bowl of goodness with a layer of philo over it. Tasty, but I wish I had more chicken. 2 Mac'n'Cheeses- Good in moderation. I love how it had bacon and mushrooms in it. 2 Seared Ahi Tuna- All around fave. 1 Spinach Artichoke Dip- Really good, but wish it came with more crostinis. Mini Burgers- Didn't try them. Crabcake Sliders- Tasted like ocean water. Least fave out of everything. Chicken Quesadillas- Okay. Would've been better with guac'n'sour cream instead of just salsa. Popcorn Shrimp- Second fave, but the breadding had gotten somewhat limp by the time it reached our table. Like it had been sitting out for awhile. Calamari- Decent. It has really heavy batter that makes it seem more like fried chicken than calamari. It was a little overpowering, but the sauce it came with was great. I didn't get drinks, but all the food for the six of us came out to $10 a person. Our waitress, Marlee, was awesome (she works Tuesdays and Thursdays apparently). She was fast and accomodating without being overbearing. I prefer this HH to Clyde's in Rockville and would gladly make the trip into Bethesda any day.

I work close-by so frequent this Daily Grill for the occasional lunch but usually I'm there for the Happy Hour. The food is very cheap, tastes good and there's lots of it. Hmm, spinach and artichoke dip... yum! And the bar staff are very helpful and friendly!

Two stars really? Dang. Well, I can't say I've ever had a real meal there. Since I work the area, my colleagues and I often end up here for happy hour. Two dollars off of glasses of wines, really cheap appetizers -- why not? A lot of the other happy hours in town end at 6:30 p.m. -- but this one goes till 7 p.m. We usually get decent service, and we've had good experience bringing clients over. I'm not sure I'd ever get a full meal here, but as far as Bethesda happy hours go, it is A-OK.

My boss took us there for a holiday lunch. Which is the only way I could afford the place. It gives off a high class power lunch vibe, not my usual place but hey, I wasn't paying. We had a party of 15, and I don't think the waiter could handle us. He made at least 3 mistakes with entrees and drinks (mixed up orders, 1 missing order) and I had to ask for my drink 3 times before I got it. I had the blackened steak quesadilla... Not bad, but the dish had way too much guac and sour cream, and pico de gallo instead of salsa. The black beans and rice was very mediocre, and there was this mass of white cabbage that didn't seem to serve any purpose other than to support the pico de gallo and other garnishes. The other dishes my party had looked pretty decent, though it seemed that the portions were just a bit too big. No one was able to finish their meal, which seemed to be a waste. My food was decent, but I really wasn't impressed with the place. For such a fancy looking place, I expected a bit more.

We ate here with a large group from work. 4 tables of 8. Service was terrible, some people got drinks, some people didn't even get water after 30 minutes.... Food was sub-par, skip this place, too many good options otherwise. The manager did try to make things better after we complained....

So I feel kind of bad writing this review since I didn't pay for this lunch myself, but I gotta call them like I see them. Daily Grill looks like it should be a good restaurant, but they just don't measure up. It's like a second rate McCormack and Schmicks and believe me... that was not a compliment to McCormack and Schmick's. So... like I said, a business associate treated me to lunch here last week. Hopefully he doesn't read this review since I told him lunch was fantastic. I had the Gazpacho for a starter. Possibly the lamest excuse for Gazpacho I have ever eaten. Cold tomato juice with cucumber that had been grated on a box grater. I guess they couldn't be bothered with actually chopping the vegetables. For my entree I ordered the Grilled Salmon with Salsa Fresca. The salmon was not fresh, it was undercooked and unseasoned. The salsa was fine but not inspiring. It came with boiled new potatoes. Completely undressed, unsalted and unadorned new potatoes with a piece of broccoli so large it literally dwarfed everything else on the plate. It was utterly ridiculous. I couldn't finish it. Service was good, if not a little inexperienced, but affable enough. We both passed on dessert. Four hours after this meal I was still burping up the fishy salmon. A meal I truly did not want to remember. I can tell you it will be a long long time before I set foot in their doors again.

We got seared salmon with spinach and penne with pesto and chicken. The salmon was poor. It lacked flavor, and was drenched in butter and lemon juice; the spinace has been cooked with garlic, which was overdone and bitter. The pasta was also overcooked and mushy. My tea was served with no milk and with no teaspoon. Nevertheless we returned the next day for breakfast. We were staying in the adjacent hotel and needed to get food quickly. This time the food was better. I got strip steak and eggs, which was just fine. we also had a fruit plate, which was also fine. The coffee was good. Unfortunately, it took longer than I wished it had to get the food; the kids got impatient. My wife also points out that they made three mistakes with our order. Prices were a little high, but not excessively so. If I were staying in the hotel again, I would probably eat here again, if there was not time to go elsewhere. But I would make an effort to stick to easy stuff like steak and fruit.

I've only gone to this place for Happy Hour, but can't complain at all. They have these perfect little plates of appetizers for between $1.94 and $2.99, with excellent drink specials as well. I recall discounted wines (about $2 off), well priced liquors (not rail, ex. Jack Daniels $6) and standard beer specials ($3.50 for a tall glass). Overall it's a decent classy crowd with attentive bar tenders. They are located in the Hyatt hotel on Wisconsin Ave., so parking is available with the hotel or a garage about 1 block away.

I wanted to give the Daily Grill props for seating myself (and my three companions) at 8:15pm on a Valentine's Day Saturday night (without a reservation) after having the WORST experience at Bice (where we got up and left before even being greeted by a server after 10 minutes of sitting and staring into space.) Props to the friendly, well-dressed, hostess for laughing along with us as we sheepishly asked for a table without a reservation. She saved the evening. The food at the DG was ok. Overpriced? Slightly (for what is was.) Our crabcakes were not dry as another yelper mentioned - but did come with an oversized side salad (can I have fries instead please?) - which seemed a little out of place (esp for the price.) The ribeye steak was cooked perfectly - but the mashed potatoes on the side could feed a small nation. Drinks were delicious - and as we were not in a rush, the slow(er) service on a busy, Valentine's Day Saturday wasn't too much of a drag. I think my review might be slightly more harsh had we not already gotten a sh*tstick at another restaurant. Just saying.

Two stars represents, "meh, I've experienced better." That sums it up. Here are the details. The caesar salad appetizer was unremarkable. Didn't taste bad, didn't taste good. The herb chicken did not taste of any herbs. Rather, it was simply a slightly rubbery, salty piece of chicken breast. The breast sat on top of an oversteamed wad of spinach which lacked any seasoning at all. The grilled veggies had nice char; but oddly, they were bland. Not sure how you can make grilled onions taste like nothing, but they made it happen. The fruit cobbler was bordering on gross. It was way too big, about the size of an entire serving of pasta. The crumb topping was OK, but the apples were very monotonous and mushy. I took about 3 bites and left the rest. And they forgot my glass of water. I wish I had consulted Yelp before deciding to eat here.

I went there with coworkers and my manager for a holiday treat dinner. We made reservations: they said we never did--but nonetheless they seated us immediately and were very accommodating. To me the whole place is a bit confusing---dim lights, semi-fancy dinner ware and decor, but there's a bustling bar filled with happy hour patrons and very relaxed-casual waiters, waitresses and hostess'. Very casual-fancy, if that's real? I had the crab cakes---heavenly. Didn't quite fill me up, but did make me want to go back! The bar wasn't all that great, very light-handed with the alcohol. Anyone who gets trippy or tipsy there, is a really good actor.

AWESOME crab cakes. I feel really bad for everyone else who had a bad experience because I loved mine. Those babies were all crab. ALL CRAB. So amazing. I also had a side of spinach mashed potatoes. What a great, fresh, and healthy idea. Definitely gonna make some for Thanksgiving this year. They also have an excellent lemonade that is squeezed in-house. Service was friendly, prompt, and professional. Overall, a nice, convenient choice for anyone staying at the Hyatt Bethesda.

Good Food, kid friendly. The Manager Jamey is a champ. Had a couple small errors in our meal and he more then took care of us. He's a True pro. Worth the trip for a quick meal.

Unprofessional, dirty silverware, bad smell throughout lingered for about 10 minutes before they realized someone had spilled clorox. The manager kept coming to our table with nonsense conversation. This was our last visit to this Daily Disappointment.

Nice place, friendly staff, food is pretty good, nice apps and salads, haven't really gotten any deeper into the menu. Was there recently, during one of our cold snaps, and could not take our coats off during the meal. The waitress explained something about how the heat isn't really working and it had something to do with the hotel and I dunno. Just about froze to death. Was there with a client who had selected Daily Grill for our meeting so a bit of an awkward situation. So I do like this place but you might want to call ahead and make sure the HVAC is working.

We went there for a company lunch and I really enjoyed my meal. I got a chicken Ceasar salad and it was pretty delicious. Around the table, everyone got very different things and everyone seemed to enjoy their meals. The atmosphere was very fancy; a lot of suits and professionals going out to lunch. It was very expensive though.

Better than I thought it would be given that it is part of the hotel and next to Morton's. The hummus is crazy delicious and is the reason I go and why it got 4 stars! The rest of the food is more expensive than many places deeper in Bethesda, but much cheaper than Morton's. Good service both times we were there. It's conveniently located next to the Metro.

I am a Daily Grill fan...never had a bad experience at one before. But I had two lousy meals at this restaurant. I asked for eggs over medium and bacon light, not crispy for breakfast...instead, I got runny eggs and charred bacon. For dinner, I got a loaf of break with my wilted salad that I could have used as a baseball bat. Hard to believe this is part of the same chain that operates the Daily Grill in Studio City, CA, one of my favorite lunch spots

I do not understand my friends' love of this restaurant. I think it has to do with the good location, and the fact that you never have to wait for a table. As for the food, you can get a better meal at Booeymonger's or any restaurant close by. I have been here many times hoping for a good meal, but have each time been very disappointed. The portions are large, but my Osso buco was hopelessly overcooked. The egg noodles tasted like they had been sitting in a buffet pan all day. If you order a complete meal go right to the dessert which is the best part of the meal. I would love to have Chef Ramsay completely redo this restaurant starting with all new chefs.

Meh, is exactly right. This place is just fine...but barely. bartenders super rude and more in a hurry to close out your check and get out of there than to give you a drink or even smile. I mean, of course we're all ready to get out of work but come on. food is fine but nothing amazing. have had lunch here a couple of times (conferences at the hotel) and service is always slow, which is bizarre because they know they are catering to a business crowd with pretty short lunch breaks. I would never go here of my own volition; I only ever go because the large groups I'm with at these meetings often don't want to leave hotel. but bethesda has so many wonderful places that if you can sway your co-workers or friends, walk 5 minutes and have an infinitely better meal and experience for about the same price.

I have to upgrade this place after having lunch here today. I thought the service was better -- and the food was better than my last visit. I went to lunch saying I would have something light -- and limited myself to salad options. I was very happy to see a steak salad, that included skirt steak, blue cheese and topped with 2 onion rings -- so I was able to keep my commitment to only ordering a salad, but also able to be a pig -- and that helps fight the feelings of guilty pleasure.

As far as hotel brunches go, this was pretty fabulous. For one price, I got a beverage collection of coffee, water, and a mimosa. I also got blueberry pancakes that were pretty tasty and huge. There also was a really good croissant and an okay bran muffin. This was not an earth shattering brunch, but it was a pretty good one!

the place was empty at dinner time and the service was still terrible. we used to always go to the tysons corner location and missed some of our favorite entrees; so we thought 'next time we are in bethesda lets go to daily grill'. probably won't again. still have delicious sourdough bread but in tysons it was sliced nicely with an ample portion of butter, here it looked like someone had hacked at it and just sent it out anyway looking like a complete mess with not enough butter. drinks were smallish and not well made - not 'dry' and no garnish.

I stayed at the adjoining Hyatt for two nights this week and got a takeout meal from the Daily Grill on both nights. I had the same thing both times because it was very healthy and tasty: the veggie plate with (brown) rice. It was $12.95 plus tax, which is certainly reasonable for that area. While I was waiting for my food on the first night, I sat outside the restaurant - but I got tired of having to keep going inside to find out if it was ready (no one ever let me know in the end), so on the second night I decided to sit inside. It was early on a Friday evening and there weren't many patrons; just several people sitting at the bar and a few people at a table. I sat at a small table behind the host(ess) stand and across from the bar. In contrast to the nice guy who I dealt with on Thursday evening, the young woman on Friday evening was very unpleasant (she was one of the servers). Among other things, she nastily (no exaggeration) told me I couldn't sit at that table - and when I asked why not, she said "The people at the next table reserved this table and the one next to it!" (the next one was also a two-person table). I thought that was bizarre since they were sitting at a *larger* table, but I reluctantly moved - and then they told me they had in fact chosen to all sit together at the large table instead of at the two (adjoining) tables. I was really peeved after leaving the restaurant, so I spoke to the hotel manager. She then spoke to the restaurant manager and he gave me a voucher for a free breakfast - but I ended up not using it because it was very restrictive in terms of choices and therefore the continental breakfast was more to my liking.

My family and I ate here on a Friday night. Depending on your perspective, the service was leisurely or slow. The waitress was disinterested and may have been overworked. It took an hour from the time we sat down to get our entrees. We weren't in a hurry so we didn't mind. The Ceasar Salad was inundated with cheese. My son and I had the prime rib. It was very good despite being too fatty. My wife's pasta dish was bland and not worth the money. My other son's pasta dish was excellent. Overall, the meal was good but far from memorable.

I've only been here for lunch and happy hour. Lunch was ok -- $16.95 for an ahi tuna salad is a fair price in Bethesda (I guess) but it wasn't exactly making my taste buds sing. On the other hand, the little plates served at happy hour are great! For $2.95-$3.95, you can get hummus and pita, little crabcakes, and other yummy stuff. I def recommend the happy hour.

Well yuck! I wanted something metro accessible for a large group in Bethesda with kids and settled on Daily Grill. I've been to other DC locations, but this was totally disappointing. When they served our table, they forgot one entree and it didn't come out for 15 minutes while everyone else's got cold. I ordered the crab cakes. GROSS!!! Never do this. They were gritty and nearly inedible. By far the worst crab cakes I've ever had inside or outside of Maryland. DG in Bethesda is giving MD crab a bad name.

the place looked pretty fancy the day i walked in, but its pretty casual. the service was really good and the food doesnt take very long to dish out. i ordered the new york strip steak which was ok. didnt really look like it was worth $30 for a 12 oz. strip steak. aside that, everything else was alright. a little on the pricier side but not too much to complain about

We went there tonight for take out on our way to the comedy show in the same hotel. We were greeted promptly by the hostess and directed to the bar for take out. The bartender didn't greet us immediatley but he seemed pretty busy. Just about when we decided what we were getting, the batender greeted us and asked what we were having. After we placed our order, he mentioned that it was going to be "at least 15 minutes" and offered us a drink. I got a yuengling draft for $4.75 (cheaper than a lot of places in Bethesda) and hunkered in for our wait. It took over half an hour to get our medium "Classic burger" and medium "strip steak salad". The manager (Andrew) delivered our food with a smile and we were on our way. He was really cheery and mentioned that he made sure there was silverware, ketchup and mayo for us. :) Once we sat down at the show, we realized that some things were missing. 1- the cheeseburger was missing the onion rings as described on the menu 2) there were no french fries or coleslaw (also mentioned on the menu for the burger) Basically we payed almost $14 for a burger. A good burger, but still not what we were told we were getting. The steak sald was pretty good. A big salad with grilled tomatoes, roma tomoatoes, romaine lettuce, 2 onion rings, and a healthy portion of skirt steak. The steak was little rare for medium but still really yummy! We wanted to go back to the restaurant to complain about the burger and lack of sides, but the show was about to start and we didn't want to miss it. So about 2 and 1/2 hours later (after the show) we went back upstairs to talk to the manager. Andrew was courteous and remembered us. Before I really described what was wrong with the meal he mentioned the fact that the fries and coleslaw were missing. He ended up giving us a business card with a handwritten note on it for a free entree. Overall we'd go back. Seemed like good food, good location, and a great feel. Thanks Andrew.

Daily Grill is a solid choice for a hearty meal--if you know what to choose. Their ribeye steak is one of the best I've ever had, including Morton's, and the sides are generous. Their drink menu has a lot of variety, and always made well. They are also very accommodating for large groups. This location isn't very busy so it's a good place to go to on the fly.

  • Jeffrey A.

Apparently this is an appetizer, happy hour type of stop, otherwise it is an extremely overpriced, frozen food type of place. The cheapest meal on the list will probably cost you at least $15. They have a special thing where you can get a salad, entree and the choice of a glass of wine or dessert for like $25, which is fair, but otherwise it's a rip off. I had the fish and chips, and I'm pretty sure the Gorton's fisherman played a roll in my meal. My girlfriend went with the dinner special of Salmon in a butter cream sauce, that was essentially drowned in the sauce....but the creme brulee was good? I dunno, in this city, there are plenty of better eats around, for cheaper or as much. Oh and the service........let's just say it took the waitress the entire meal to notice that our glasses were empty. Lame.

We went to this restaurant for the first time last night and had a fantastic meal. My daughter ordered angel hair pasta with marinara sauce from the kids menu and it came with a drink and dessert, all for $5. The pasta with sauce wasn't the typical that looks like tomato paste and water. She ate the whole bowl full. I had the chicken pot pie and it was excellent, I would go back just for that. The crust was like a popover, light and flaky. The filling was great with lots of chicken, fresh carrots, real mushrooms and peas with a yummy sauce. My husband got the shrimp with angel hair pasta. He said the shrimp were grilled first and had a nice flavor. The shrimp were large too. They were served on the outside of the pasta so they didn't lose their flavor. He said the pasta and sauce were good as well. Service was good too, we will be back.

3/25/2012. I stood there for 30 seconds, and the lady at the door still wouldn't look up and seat me. The whole place was so empty and they still have attitude. When I walked over to the other breakfast place 2 minutes away, it was packed with a long line. It's always a good idea to follow where do local people go. I had such a wonderful breakfast at the other place, that I gave a 30% tip. When I got back to the Hyatt hotel, where Daily grill is located, it was still very quite and empty. Their business model is to only make money from the hotel guests, because they are trapped and don't know anything better.

Staying at attached Hyatt hotel and popped in for a quick bite after a long day. I got the Calamari, Hamburger and fries...yeah I know not exactly your normal pairing. I also ordered the mash potatoes with spinach mixed in and it was really tasty but quite frankly I was stuffed like a big fat tick so only got a few bites of that down. The food was a solid 3 star, although the burger didn't hold a candle to the one at the Park Hyatt in Georgetown.... but seriously no other burger really does! Sorry, I digress... oh yeah my server Joel was fabulous! I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here, but for a solo business traveler looking for good eats it was enjoyable and only a short waddle back to the room. I think it cost me about $35 bucks so might be better choices around this area for those less lazy than I!

Good food, but nightmarish, amateurish service. Our waiter jumps into his script on the specials (interrupting our conversation in the process), then comes back 30 seconds later to ask us if we've made up our minds. When we ask for a few minutes he disappears (I'm not making this up) for 30 MINUTES. When he finally does come back, he actually asks "do you need a few more minutes?" No, friend, we've been sitting here starving for half an hour and we never bothered to look at the menu. Then the food takes another 30 minutes, and I have to wolf it down to avoid being only a few minutes late for my next meeting.

Daily Grill is a great place to eat and drink! I typically go to the bar for their friendly staff!, not to mention the food is excellent!! The staff consistently takes care of me and the food is always out in a reasonable amount of time. The bartenders are a great staff, especially the tall handsome one. He is awesome and hooks me up! Daily Grill is just a great place to go anytime of day!

  • Herschel S.

Given a three-star rating on Yelp, I wasn't expecting much from the food and service. So, as what other people have mentioned, I have also encountered the not so great service staff. However, I was pretty impressed with the food I ordered. I had the cajun fish dish. Immediately after tasting it, I started planning on how to make it at home. Usually, when I order seafood in a restaurant, I would be disappointed and would think that I can make something better or equivalent at home for less. But this place really impressed me with their seafood, hence even with the poor service, I'm giving it a 4-star review.
