Excellent authentic mexican food. Being from Arizona, finding good mexican food on the east coast isn't an east task. Luckily yelp came to the rescue. Eat here, you won't be disappointed! I had#115 Enchilada supreme. So good. Soooo effin good.

This place is delish. I've been here a few times and came last night for dinner. We ordered the fresh guac and the waiter made it right in front of us at the table. You can order it with different mix ins (onions, tomatoes, jalapeños). For my entree, I had the lime chicken with rice, black beans with mozzarella cheese, guacamole salad and 2 tortillas. The chicken was extremely flavorful. Portions are big so definitely come hungry. As far as the drinks go, their beer specials are pretty good. We got a pitcher of frozen raspberry margaritas. The flavor was super sweet, too sweet for my liking but it got the job done. On Friday nights they have a mariachi band play around the restaurant which made it super fun, but was a little loud.

I really love Mexican food and this place is wonderful. If you ever go to the bar ask for Lily she is the best!!!

This is our go-to restaurant. Food is the best in Harford County. The service is usually very good, but it can get busy, especially on Thursday-Saturday evenings.

Wasn't pleased at all. Chili rellenos resembled slop, could only eat the cheese off the top. The veggie fajitas were below average. I ended up eating mostly tortilla chips

Great good and service! Very accommodating to a large group and only charged me for 2 Coronas when I drank 4!!! LOL!!

I love this place! Always friendly and accommodating. I can't get enough of the chillie rellano! And can't forget the tequila bloody Mary

The food and the drinks were great, but I had to only give three stars because of the ambiance. They had satellite radio on for the entire place to hear, and you know it is unedited. There are only so many times I could hear the F word before it made me uncomfortable to see the kids in there with their families. :(

Best Mexican food in the area, hands down. Huge portions, great prices, flavorful food, great service, and the margaritas are to die for. If you love Mexican food, you have to try it out.

Found this place for lunch one day and decided to try it for dinner. Unfortunately although the food was good the atmosphere was awful. The Ravens game was on and there was a large group of very obnoxious and drunk fans yelling and screaming obscenities I felt as if I was in some corner pub listening to the F bomb being used with regularity by both the males and females. At one point they began trying to pick a fight with the family at the table next to them and the wait staff and management did nothing but continue to serve them alcohol . The food was good but I will never go back and certainly will not recommend it to anyone especially those with children.

So I had La Tolteca in downtown Baltimore by the Harbor and it was wonderful. The cheese perfectly melted and distributed throughout my quesadilla, although the rice was some crap. Now here in Aberdeen, because I work here the pickings are slim as to lunchtime meals and I was hoping for another amazing meal but that is not what I got. The quesadilla, thoughout not disgusting, was very bland, dry and oddly put together. When I opened the quesadilla, the meat was on the right side ONLY, the beans in the middle, and the cheese (yes a lump of cheese) on the left side. I attempted to mix everything together but it seemed as though my plate had been sitting awhile because that cheese was immovable (real word, look it up lol). Ironically, the rice from this restaurant was delish so if only I oculd somehow get the two restaurants to work together, we may be in business. Anyways, with a lack of options in Aberdeen, this is restaurant is an "eh...ok" type of place in which I am less than likely to return.

I've eaten at all three locations in Harford Co and always had a good meal. My only disappointment was the rib eye steak I got. It was small and very thin for the price.

I will eat here again. My husband and I love Mexican food. We came to love it while living in Atlanta, where there is a lot of Mexican, Peruvian, Salvadorian, etc food. This food is okay, and to be honest, each entree is priced about 10-20% too high for what it is (and we are from a big city, so it isn't like we are unaware of city mark up). The fish tacos *need* an acid element. A lime sauce, something. It is too much fish for too little taste. I'll be trying the street tacos next time.

As a rule the Havre de Grace/Aberdeen area is a wasteland when it comes to good casual dining or any kind of dining for that matter. La Tolteca Aberdeen is the exception. I'm so glad they're here!

Below average for Mexican places. Gets overrated since it started in the bel air area and was the only really local Mexican restaurant. The food (especially the ground beef) is not grade A. Once ordered a chicken taco and the bones were in the taco. Yes bones plural. The ground beef tastes like dog food and the chips taste like they are made once in the morning than stale by lunch time.

Run by Mexicans so that's a good start! Our party of 8 was seated quickly but service with drinks was a little slow. No problems there. I enjoyed the complimentary chips and salsa, and ordered a mango margarita. It was a large one, but seemed a bit weak in the alcohol area, and although large, I still consider pricey for it's $8 price tag. I ordered the enchiladas...which was fairly salty and lackluster, but still an acceptable meal. Just not much wow factor. For the Aberdeen area, I'm just glad there is some ethnic diversity for food and its fine for what it is. Would I eat there given the chance of something in California or where there is a heavy Mexican population with more choices? Probably not. But hey for Aberdeen, this is A-ok. As a big city girl temporarily in a small town...this will do.

Not a mexican food fan but my daughters are so decided to try it out. Loved it!! The decor is cheerful. The waiter was new but so funny which made it so nice. They make the guacamole right in front if you. I got the taco salad and would certainly order again. Definitely will go again.

Food was ok here, its not authentic mexican like they say. The staff here is kind of rude, they dont speak much English here so took a while to get our order right. Desert is on point though.

Wait staff are not trained to handle English speaking people and they are very rude. My wife was not happy with the taste of a dish she ordered and asked for something else. She said the dish tastes like it had a chemical taste to it. She was asked if she would like to see a menu because the waiter did not want to take the dish back again. Very very rude!!!! UPDATE: my wife got sick shortly after leaving. Needless to say, a tip was not left because of the rudeness of the waiter. What he said should never be said to a paying customer.

Love the fresh made guacamole. Never was a guacamole fan til I had it here! I always get shrimp quesadillas which are A+. I've tried street tacos and stuffed shrimp mozzarella which were just okay. Love the salsa!!! Highly recommend!

I want to update that I've gone here since and have ordered their crunchy tacos.. The review stands for the burrito, but the tacos were fine and I'd definitely go back to order them again.

Not a good night at La Tolteca. So we are seated pretty quickly and it went downhill from there. My wife orders a virgin margarita. It took some going back an fourth to get that right. The waiter didn't understand English. My wife asked him about the Fajitas, what's on them, he kept saying "yea, yea". We finish ordering dinner. It arrives and the waiter quickly disappears - no utensils; and no shells for my Carne Asada. Have to ask for things that should be there, again. Our waiter was nowhere to be found. The carne looks like the loser at Delaware Park. I was ready for some Flan, waiting, waiting, waiting, finally our waiter appears. I order Flan. This dude took forever. Maybe I'm watching way too much Mystery Diners or Kitchen Impossible but, with the worst waiter and marginal food, next time I'm going to Taco Bell.

This is my FAVORITE Mexican restaurant! The white salsa served with chips is out of this world! I consistently have propmpt, attentive, and courteous service. The portion sizes are large, and the prices are very reasonable. The bar area is separated from the dining area which is a plus! If you love Mexican food you should definitely stop in!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
