It has been a long time since I ate here but this continues to be the best place in this city. All the main dishes have lots of flavor & I like the fact there is actually a lot of healthy choices on the buffet. I loaded up with 5-6 vegetables and did the salad bar. The potato salad was excellent. Having said that, splurge on two desserts which are homemade. Great meal for the price.

This place is awesome! It's has a huge buffet and all kinds of delicious desserts. The staff was friendly and helpful. My waitress kept my drink full. The fried chicken was very tasty. The mashed taters were made from real taters, none of the fake stuff, with real gravy. The cooked apples were so buttery and sweet! Very reasonably priced as well.

Blue plate special: fried chicken, bread, two vegetables, coffee and pie. $5.99. Service was wonderful (I got a free piece of pie!) and they take credit cards.

Got lunch on a weekday. Good selection of southern food and a variety of desserts. As far as buffets go, the fried chicken was good. Still moist but not crispy (I expected that though). I prefer mine fresh out of the fryers still hot and crispy. Keeping in mind that this is a country cooking place, I was still a bit disappointed that I didn't see any other salad green options aside from the usual tossed iceberg lettuce. There were pasta salad options if you prefer non green leafy salads. Overall, the best parts were the cooked veggies (I tried the collard greens, sweet yellow corn kernels, mashed potatoes, and carrots) and desserts.

We had dinner here while visiting family last week. The place was very clean and neat which made me a happy diner! Someone's granny is in the back...I swear! Fried chicken and pork chops...yes. I know I'm sounding pretty bad here with this review but I wish I could make you see that this place has some amazing meat. I love meat...sigh. Anyway, the mashed potatoes, baked spaghetti, cheesy potatoes and veggies were good too. The salad bar consisted of the regular selection of items and included pasta salads which were pretty tasty. My only con was the lack of seasoning on the greens and the savory cornbread but that's me...the sweet cornbread lover. Unlike most veggies, just adding salt after cooking doesn't do much for greens. They need to be seasoned early on so they absorb it. Other than that, the homemade mile long table of desserts were amazing and the sweet tea...good lawwd! The meal was also very CHEAP! I must mention the service...which was on point during our entire visit. The server was so observant, she noticed my daughter didn't eat much so she only charged half for her. That really blew me away. Who pays attention like that in any other restaurant let alone offer to do something about it. I was soooo impressed. Lastly, I love how the owner is not ashamed of her faith and its obvious throughout the restaurant. In a world where many want to hide their belief, I love when a business owner just doesn't care...and that's exactly how it should be. I hope there are many many good years to come for this place!

This place rocks! The buffet was packed with classic country fare. Everything was fresh and delicious. The place was full on a Sunday morning, it's obviously the place to be after church. We were seated promptly and the server was available to take our order right away. We both wanted breakfast, but neither of us could pass up the amazing looking food on the buffet. If you want to fill up on some great country eats, and just about every kinda pie known to man, this is the place to do it!

The decor here is unassuming, reminding me of a church's fellowship hall. All of the food tasted homemade, and while there were a few misses here and there (some overcooked liver, for example) the vast majority was delicious. It would be difficult to come here and not find something worth coming back for. On top of the delicious food, the service was polite, speedy and always kept my glass full. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone, from large groups and families to those having a quiet dinner by themselves.

If you have a big appetite, you'll certainly get your fill here. Dinner buffet, including drink & tax, came to 14.82 per person. The salad bar was fully stocked, and there was a multitude of good southern staples. The mashed potatoes definitely tasted like instant mashed potatoes, but were still good. For dessert, there were about 10 types of pies & 4 types of cake.

Country Coupboard is a local gem. Here you will find down home cooking at its finest! Nothing is canned, everything is fresh and hot. I went in with the lowest expectations but I was blown away by their hospitality and wowed by their delicious food. Their dessert are simply lip smackingly good! If you leave here unsatisfied then you must not be from planet earth. But even Martians know better! I rarely give 4 stars and yet this place sincerely earns 5 stars. This big city boy gets his country on, when ever I stop in to see the wonderful folks over at Country Cupboard. Great food, beautiful people and a truly unique Kentuckian experince.

This is what southern cookin' is all about. It's a little pricey (9.58 including tax for lunch without a drink), but damn is it good. I ate wayyy too much, but it was just so good! Real mashed taters, unlike KFC. And the deserts are all freshly made, and there's lots to choose from. I'd come back next time I'm in town. The food that was on the buffet was always hot, and always being restocked. I went around 1, and the parking lot was full, which in my book, is a good sign. I think they do a breakfast buffet on Saturday and Sunday. Although, from what I hear, the church crowd fills up the place pretty quick on Sundays.

Love this place. I usually go with my large family and the staff is always friendly and accommodating. The sweet tea is the best in town. Great buffet if you're willing to pay. Great desserts also. The chocolate eclair dessert is a local favorite. Gotta try it when in town.

Yeah, its good ole country cooking. I ate wayyyyyy too much, and then I had some pie. Its a little more expensive than other buffets, but much better. Its an ok place once a month er so.

Don't know what all the hype is about. This buffet is just OK at best. The food has no seasoning which means no taste. The selection is limited and the salad was full of brown, wilted lettuce. The only thing that was good besides the service was the home made pie. I do not recommend this place if you like food that has flavor.

The buffet is actually good if you are in the mood for country cooking. The selection is quite amazing. They will typically have 4+ meats and a nice selection of sides on their buffet at any given time. The food can sometimes be "heavy" but I guess you expect that from country cooking. Nice selection of desserts and if all else fails a soft serve machine. Service is good and the price is fair.

I'm actually very impressed with this place! Most buffets are a wide selection of mediocre foods. But if you like good down-home, southern cooking, this is the place to go! Great chicken and sides, a wide varitey of desserts. I always leave this place too full! It's kind of an 'older' folk's place, but still a good choice if you want fried food.

If you like buffets this is a good place to go. It's the old-folks spot of Madisonville, but you will see families there too. Good home cooked food, excellent desserts.
