Came here and after eating got sick real bad diarrhea and that is like a sure sign for me that the food was bad I normally do not get that way unless I have eaten bad food will not be back.

My friends love this place so I went with them. Years ago I had gotten food poisoning after eating here but I thought I would give it another try. I ended up just drinking iced tea, eating green beans and fruit because that is the only thing that looked safe. I'm sure the food was good when it was first out out but the customers make a hot mess out if it. Tons of cross contamination. If you have a shellfish allergy beware.... They have dishes with shrimp everywhere instead of all in the same buffet area.

Allow me to begin by saying that I believe the three reviewers who previously appraised this place to be quite unfair. One of them is a blatant jibe against fat people, which (while certainly being "harr harr I can talk shit about people" funny) has nothing to do with the actual restaurant. Similarly, the other two are just kind of slanderous without giving any real information. If the name of this restaurant didn't make it painfully obvious, this is a buffet of Chinese food. It is all-you-can-eat, it costs about $10 per person, and it is located in painfully bland Northwest Indiana. If you come to this place expecting mindblowing quality, authentic Cantonese/Szechuan cooking (like apparently the other reviewers did), you will be sorely disappointed and you are probably also pretty stupid. It is buffet food. It is frozen bulk meat cooked in various thick, sugary sauces or fried. It has an "American" component that has standard fare like pizza sitting next to cheese/crab stuffed mushrooms and an odd spinach/cheese type dish that I enjoy. I expect a good deal of the stuff was frozen at some point. And that's okay. I'll be the first to admit that I love a well-prepared gourmet dish. I adore new and exotic flavors and I admire the work that a skilled chef will put into making something to please the eyes and palate. However, I also am not averse to slumming it restaurant-wise once in a while. Sometimes I don't want to go drop $40 or $50 to buy Gorgonzola and watercress and a craft beer; on occasion, I just want to plunk down ten bucks and smash on some salty, spicy pseudo-Chinese chow, refill my own soda, and bail the fuck out at the end without waiting for Oh Waiter My Waiter to come grab the check. If you are similarly inclined, this place is great for that.

OMG...this is my first review and I was so disappointed with this place I felt I had to leave my 2 cents worth. I'm new in town and my daughter and I were hoping to enjoy a really good chinese buffet like we're used to back home. I am giving this place 1 star and that goes to the vanilla soft serve dessert. The food is very bland and dried out. I felt like I was eating chicken jerky when I tried the different chicken options. She was excited to see the dumplings but after 1 bite, it ended up in a napkin. This is the first place I've gone to where you pay before you eat! That should have been our first clue. Definitely not worth your time or money!

Ok...I hate buffets, but what I hate even more is the substandard quality of food. For really excellent Chinese food....head for Chinatown.

I'm not sure if China Buffet is a chain or people just like naming their buffets China Buffet. I will have to look into that later. Now if you lost your sense of taste in some horrible fireworks accident this restaurant wouldn't be so bad. But for the rest of us who know how to operate fireworks properly and still have a sense of taste this restaurant is bad. If you've been to one restaurant named China Buffet this is just like any of those. So maybe it is a chain. It's food that tastes bad, and it''s like ten bucks to get in, and all you can eat. I can see myself giving this restaurant five stars one day when I'm old and I don't have regular bowel movements. Because for some reason if I do eat here I always have to make a BM (bowel movement) about an hour (give or take) after I eat here. I'm not sure why that always happens. But it does. So to recap, if you lost your sense of taste, or you don't have regular BM's this restaurant is awesome. But for the rest of the tasting pooping world this restaurant is bad.

HORRIBLE worst Chinese restaurant I have ever been too ..food was hard like it had been out for hours just deserves a 0 star.....and they forsure do not know how to clean a plate seemed to have old cheese stuck on too the plate.....DO NOT RECOMMEND YOU COMMING TO THIS PLACE

My son loves to come to this play. Have to say... It's a China Buffet. What do you really expect. The food is hot. They have a large selection for a buffet place. They offer California rolls. Which my kids love because they believe they are eating sushi. Gotta keep 'em cultured ya know. It could be cleaner, the food is good but not great. They do offer chop sticks at the front if you ask for them. Table service is pretty decent. I do get enough to eat when I go. Would I eat here often...probably not. But when we do go, we like it.

Last time was "ok". But this time was regretting. The food was a little cold, chicken was kinda hard, and sushi rolls were definitely not so fresh tasting (As if they been sitting there all day!) I only enjoyed the apple pie and my unlimited pink lemonade refreshment. Try not to go to a buffet on weekends or when school lets out. (To avoid kids and crowds.)

I was right. I went here on Saturday October 26, and it's much better, $11.00 and you get a great additional seafood variety. Cheese-filled shrimp and scallops, hahaha...after the lunch disappointment two days prior that's what I ate about 80% of the time because it's SO GOOD! I might probably go here for dinner rather than lunch. And Tony G.'s comment is actually right, half of these people on here don't know a shit or two about rating a restaurant - having of them are just pure insults and the others are expecting a $10 authentic Schezuan or Hunan-style out of this-world food buffet...yeah keep dreaming especially in a wonderful dwindling economy.

I used to really like this place,but my latest visit kinda makes me a little less likely to return. I used to read some of the negative reviews on it and think "are you nuts"? me n the nephew stopped in for lunch,around 2pm. although its about $8. a person....its a toss up. this place is HUGE in seating capacity,quiet n friendly staff,they take your plate pretty fast so you don't have a cluttery table. the food selection was ok,but what really ruined the whole experience was the fact that the food wasn't even hot....not even warm!! to me,that was the ultimate turn off right there.
