The last time I ate downtown, I ate at The Big Cheese, probably when I was working for Elder-Beerman, or perhaps at Tony's Italian Sausage cart during Rose Festival. I'd been gone a while. The few times I'd been downtown, the place was closed (they aren't open past 3 on weekdays) or I had already eaten, but today, I made an effort to try it. I could barely read the menu on the wall, perhaps because it's black and white and the characters are rather thin. They have quite a few options, though. I decided on the stuffed green peppers and potato salad for the side item, though they had pasta salad and pineapple available, also. Fountain Coca-Cola products are available and other items are in the case prior to the line. Yes, there is a cafeteria-style line. The food was good but could have used more flavor. The potato salad was not as bland as the worst I've had, but they could add some paprika and celery salt to give it a bit more. For around $7.00, it wasn't bad for lunch.

The hash browns are frozen, cube shaped, and from the dollar store. The staff is very friendly though.

Very friendly service. Food decently prepared. Interesting photos on the walls. This food won't change your life but it was a reasonable alternative to some of the other food in Richmond.

I frequent this cozy little restaurant since it is conveniently located next door to my office. I was sad to learn that Tom was turning his business over, but glad to see the menu was basically staying the same. A few signature items have been added that I have tried and I'm a big fan of their mac 'n cheese. The Tin Lizzie Cafe has probably close to the cheapest lunch in town, yet the food is still pretty good quality. You'll definitely get your money's worth. I look forward to seeing how this business develops in the near future.

Stopped in here for a quick lunch. You grab a lunch tray and walk down the aisle. There's a great selection of basic lunch sandwiches, salads, soups, casseroles, and sides- cottage cheese, fruit salad w/ marshmallows, etc. It's a cute little local lunch place. They also do breakfast. Only open Monday-Friday 8-3pm. Check out the murals and ceiling. I got a tuna melt, bowl of chili, and large soda for $8.
