Just finished our lunch from Timbrook and it was very good. That would be our third trip here since our first visit a week ago! Today we had Crab Nixon Pie, turkey meatloaf panini, spinach and Kerry gold cheddar croissant (with ham), chicken artichoke pie, and corn chowder. We have also tried the bacon cheddar hash brown pie, salmon dill havarti pie, mushroom feta pie, croissant-wrapped kielbasa, spinach feta pie, potato soup, strawberry cream cheese pie, and key lime pie. Everything has tasted incredible. Savory and sweet, there are no misses so far on the menu -- all hits. If we were to nitpick, we like our soup thicker, but the flavors were bold and tasty. And we have at least half the menu to try yet, with new items to look forward to. Customer service is outstanding. Pay by credit or debit card and get your receipt via email. Fill up your loyalty card and get free items! It won't take long if you are like us!
Timbrook was a delightful gem to stumble upon on route to St. Joseph MI from Chicago. My boyfriend and I were looking for a quick lunch, and decided to come here after seeing the good reviews. We walked in and had a warm greeting from the shop owner, Chris, who walked us through his entire menu. We both got the $10 lunch deal (which included a main item, a side, a dessert and a drink!)--so for both us us paying only $20 total, we ended up with two pieces of savory pie (chicken artichoke, and feta spinach!), two pieces of sweet pie (strawberry cream, and chocolate peanut butter--mmm!), one HUGE turkey panini, a cup of soup (with all kinds of yummy things in it), a hearty portion of asian slaw, and two drinks. The portions were super generous, but most importantly, DELICIOUS! We talked with Chris about about his pies and other items, and it's clear he has a passion for food--keeping up on trends and experimenting with ingredients that you'd find in big cities. My boyfriend and I are from DC, and travel to other cities often, so that sets a high bar with food!
We found our go to place for pies in Northwest, IN!!!! We met the owner, Chris, and had a fantastic time chatting it up, drinking gourmet coffee and enjoying chocolate pecan pie!! They also have salads, sandwiches, breakfast pies and savory pies, like Crab Nixon! This place is a must visit if you are within 30 minutes of Munster! Call before hand to make sure they have what you want. When it is gone, it is gone!

Omg!! I have lived in Dyer Indiana for 20 years and I just had my first Munster Donut(s) about two weeks ago and I'm still pondering why in the heck it took me so long to go there. I have tried the chocolate glazed, the pumpkin, the sour cream, and the maple glaze (so far). If you eat a DD after trying a Munster donut you'll never ever go back to DD again. People told me this for years, but I didn't believe it until I tried it for myself. I'm not going to write and long drawn out review, all I'm gonna say is go try this place out...like Yesterday!!!
I get a sweet tooth sometimes(all the time) and I am really surprised that I haven't been to Munster Donuts before 2 weeks ago. You know how there's that saying: "Fast, Good or Cheap... Pick two."???I don't know HOW they did it, but they managed to give us all Three. When pulling in off of Calumet Ave. there is an old, unremarkable sign that simply says "Munster Donut", I walk up to an old, unremarkable building... I'll be honest, I wasn't expecting much. The inside is simple, there are some stools and a bar area to sit at, a newspaper and periodical stand by the door, and if you look to the left and there's a good sized window into the production area. This isn't a fancy little place, it's a Form follows Function place. And the function is AMAZAZING! I bought 6 donuts, 30 donut holes, a small coffee and a Vanilla Icing donut for (this isn't a typo) just a bit over $8.00! Bow Ties, (Vanilla) Long John, Apple Fritters, Maple Pecan, Cake Donut with Vanilla Icing, Plain and Powdered Donut Holes and of course their Coffee. I tried at least a bit of each, after which I was one milligram of glucose away from having a sugar induced Rager. I swear on my Yelpy little heart that these are THE BEST friggin' donuts and coffee I've had in my life! Ever. Seriously.
Alright, the donuts are now $0.86 but it's still a good price. If you get a half dozen you'll only end up paying $4.00, it is AWESOME. The donuts are delicious, just as they were before. Love the angel creams and jelly-filled

Yummy! Great fresh food. The falafel and eggplant pita wrap is awesome.
Really enjoyed this place, it is perfect for pick up or for dinning in. It has several vegan and vegetarian options and is very affordable.
Great place went to for the first time today. Waitress was super friendly and helpful in choosing what to order. Apple/cranberry/walnut salad was HUGE, with very tasty house dressing. Chicken kabob was moist and flavorful. My favorite was the nicely seasoned and textured beef shawarma. Looks like a family-run place which makes it even better. I highly recommend Mishkenut!

Munster Gyros

8307 Calumet Ave
Munster, 46321
Reviews:
This is our absolute favorite gyros place ever. They have a bbq gyros sandwich that is so amazing I crave it quite often and try to convince my hubby to eat here every time we're in the neighborhood. The hot dogs, fries, and regular gyros sandwiches are also delicious. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. You can't go wrong with anything you order from here. Watch out, they're closed on Sundays (which is super sad because we tend to be back in Munster on a lot of Sundays).
My favorite gyro anywhere! This place is a hole in the wall that hasn't updated their decor for probably 30 years since I've been coming here, but their food is terribly addictive. They give you so much meat on your gyro that I suggest getting the gyro plate and ordering an extra pita to make 2. Also, the pizza pocket is ridiculously good albeit ridiculously greasy!
Best gyros I've ever had hands down. The owners that work there are the best and always very friendly. I've been going there for over 25 years now and the place has not changed a bit. Keep it that way because it works.

The Original John’s Pizzeria

247 Ridge Rd
Munster, 46321
Reviews:
What is not to love! Was in the Saturday before Easter and was filled with a wait for tables. Sat at the bar and was served by Melvina. Absolutely wonderful service. Not just good for the busy time or the region but honest to goodness wonderful service. Had the calamari, very good and sausage and cheese pizza. Pizza was every bit as good as my memory of John's pizza! Nice size bar with dining area and family friendly! I love locally owned places and great service - thank you!
Everyone usually gets the crumbled sausage topping here. Like most meat toppings, that can be hit or miss, but here it's a bit of a miss. The crumbled sausage at Langel's and Barton's is simply more flavorful. They DO load the pizza up here, but instead of getting a complex italian sausage flavor, more of a roasted pork flavor comes through. Definitely an acquired taste. Best thing they do here is biiig pizza slices for three bucks each. Usually just sausage or plain cheese, but the cheese is delightful.
The angles cry, as you devour their garlic bread! Their garlic bread is the bread- piping hot. Their pizza pretty good, and my hubby loves their Angel hair pasta. Ah again my minds goes for the garlic bread-looking forward to trying their new dining room. We ate the original location, just before they closed, and we cursed ourselves for not knowing about this jewel sooner. Their Nona pot roast is a nice sandwich, which most places do not offer.

Froyo

8207 Calumet Ave

Reviews:
A MUST in the town of Munster. Definitely recommend a Shake It if you like milkshakes packed with an entire candy bar or cookie of your choice. Have great deals during the week, like .99 cent milkshakes from 11-2PM. Also love the iced coffee deal (buy the cup for $3.50 and get .99 refills). During the summer it will be packed and the one major downfall is the tiny parking lot at their new location. Considering that is my only complaint, I think they're doing a great job!
Quite simply the best frozen yogurt in town for the following reasons: 1. The quality is as good as any yogurt place (except for TCBY) 2. It is half the cost of any yogurt place (especially TCBY) 3. They have a nice variety of flavors that are updated regularly.
Froyo served me up a delicious orange sherbert/vanilla soft-service swirl in a cone on a hot summer day. (On a side note, why doesn't everyone have dreamsicle swirls? Orange and vanilla is such a winning combination.) I was a little overwhelmed by the many options, but once I zeroed in on my frozen treat, I was all set. Thanks to the sweet girls working there for their patience! Note: Out of towners, this to/from the 3 Floyds brewery (how we stumbled on to it in the first place). Worth a stop if you're in the mood for something sweet and cold. Walk-up counter set-up in a strip mall.

I love this place and cannot wait to go again! The pizza was really good!
Good pizza, great service and very tasty calamari. The family loves going there and their home delivery is usually zippy. It's nice having a tasty local pizzeria in the neighborhood.
WHOA?! I thought that I wrote a review for this place already!! Well, I absolutely looooove their pizza and their wings. The pizza is burnt and crisp in terms of crust and just perfect up top. The wings are large with very good sauce on them. Take this as a warning, though, I have had their Chicken Saltimbocca, and I wish that I had just stuck with the pizza. It was absolutely disgusting. It was a bit later in the evening, but man, that was gross. I do not know how this place stays open because I have gone a number of time and they are always empty. I, nonetheless, am happy they are in business as I love their pizza. Support this great place!

Penn Station East Coast Subs

Forget what you know, the artichoke sandwich is to die for. Add fresh mushrooms & it'll change your life. Sandwich on.
This restaurant is the best place I know to get a hot sub sandwich. It is clean and has great staff. It is a wonderful place to go with a great atmosphere. Their monthly specials make for a good meal. My favorite is the club sandwich grilled with their freshly made french fries. The meal is not complete without dessert. A made fresh daily chocolate chunk cookie. It's about the size of a CD case. On cold days you can ask them to run the cookie through the toster oven. No matter if you are by yourself or with family and friends, Penn Station it the best place for the money.
My sandwich was really good. I was on my lunch didn't have to wait long for it. Love it .

Canton House

8000 Calumet Ave
Munster, 46321
Reviews:
Canton House is a great Chinese restaurant, one of the best in the area. As a matter of fact, I've been ordering from here for years. My family generally gets an assortment of stuff from here, but we ALWAYS get the General Tso's Chicken, that stuff is great. The egg rolls have never failed us, and all the different styles of fried rice that we have tried here have been great. The sweet and sour chicken - amazing. I only remember my family eating AT the restaurant once or twice a few years ago, but it was a pleasant experience as I recall. We generally call in for pickup ahead of time, and our food is generally ready in about 20 minutes, which is great because that's approximately the amount of time it takes to drive from work to the restaurant. If you're not able to dine in or stop by for pickup, Canton House also offers a delivery service. I've never done this before, so you'd have to call in for more information on that service. The restaurant itself is always clean, and the staff members are always friendly, although not all of them speak English. I've never had a problem with this though. In the end, this is a not-so-hidden gem of a Chinese Restaurant over in Munster. The food is great, the service is fast, and the prices are reasonable. I recommend this restaurant to all my friends, and I do the same to you. Enjoy!
Good. Solid food, quick and friendly. I eat here at least weekly. Main reason is its proximity to my work. It's hard to mess up Chinese food and they do fine. Cleanliness is a major issue and don't even think of using the toilet. It's not even one step above outhouse!
I have been ordering from here for over 10 years. Simple eat and go, good food and you could see your food being made. Best in the area.
