Mondays and Wednesdays are $1 taco nights (tacos normally are $1.50). You get your choice of meat (fish, chicken, beef, tongue, pork, vegetarian and more). Cilantro and onion are free toppings, and you can choose between flour and corn tacos. I particularly liked the fish and tongue (hold your jokes) and wound up downing five tacos. The taqueria also has an assortment of fresh-baked goods, though I would avoid the churros. They're pretty stale and bland.

Authentic Mexican food. Well lit clean dinning experience and pleasant service. Started with salsa and dip which was not free but worth the price bc the salsa was very good with just the right amount of spice, lime, and lots of flavor. Made just right. I ordered the lengue (cow tongue) taco's succulent meat soft and very flavorful served Mexican style with onions and cilantro. I also tried the chicken burrito, charred chicken cooked well done with beans and rice and lettuce, tomato, and sour cream on the side. I was pleased with the taste and amount of food I received. I also had the horchata drink which was very good. Hints of cinnamon, rice, coconut. Very very authentic and refreshing.

We went for an authentic Mexican lunch during the week. Service was very fast, got our meals super quick. I ordered the burrito. It was "just OK." There wasn't much seasoning and I had to really dissect it to find any cheese at all. They are known for their tacos and that's what I should have gotten. My taste of a beef taco was very good. It was then "food envy" for the rest of the meal. Chips and salsa aren't free but were good and I would get those again. Staff was smiling and friendly.

Great authentic restaurant in Goshen. Living in California I have my share of authentic Mexican Restaurants at my finger tips, so I was hesitant on Taqueria San Jose. My concerns were unwarranted. The tacos (lengua and pastor) had so much meat on them that I was stuffed. The place is clean and the staff very friendly. I will surely have to return.

Very fresh and authentic Mexican food, in a cute and clean diner. The food was very good, including the menudo. Also very affordable prices and friendly service. Would come again!

I had high expectations for Taqueria San Jose. With the plethora of choices to eat Mexican in Goshen and around Elkhart County I guess there has to be a real dog in the bunch. The restaurant itself was very clean and service decent but those are the only notable high points. The food is where the real issues lie here. I hadn't ever seen pink chorizo in my life(nor do I ever want to see it again) until I had my plate sat in front of me. The al pastor was gamey and very chewy and the asada was incredibly dry and comparable to chewing cork board. My tortillas were either stale before they got put on the grill or were left on for a ridiculous amount of time but I'm guessing it was probably both. The sauces for the tacos were rather bland and didn't add anything to the meat. With so many wonderful taquerias around the area that do things right it is wrong to frequent this one.

I ate at this place when I was visiting my family back in February. Granted, there aren't a lot of local places to dine in the Goshen area. My dad and brothers had been here before, so we all piled in the car and went to Taqueria San Jose for the $1 tacos. I ended up getting 3 or 4 tacos (chicken and beef - I couldn't decide on one type of meat), plus a side of refried beans, which I shared with my brothers. These tacos are delicious! They pile on all of the meat and toppings you could possibly want/ask for. I was stuffed and would have been ok with two tacos. I didn't try any of the pastries. I'm not a big fan of Mexican pastries - they look pretty, but rarely taste good. I would highly recommend going for the $1 tacos. I think they are $1 all day on Monday and Wednesday.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
