I find the name Memories of China apropos, because it seems to be what the faint memory of actual Chinese food tastes like. Although I actually do have fond memories of eating here with my Grandma as a teenager. If you keep in mind that you are in Goshen, Indiana, in a strip mall, you will have the appropriate expectations. It is by no means the worst Chinese food I have ever had. It's very, very average. I came here with 13 assorted relatives who were gathered for both Father's Day and my grandpa being in the hospital and not doing very well. One thing my family has always done well is eat. Food equals love. Everyone except grandma got the buffet, which also came with our choice of egg drop or hot and sour soup. I'd never had their hot and sour soup, so I thought I'd try it. It was neither hot nor sour, and contained lots of bits of mushrooms and stringy egg-like things. We also got a few pots of tea that turned out to be lukewarm. But the buffet was all right. The veggie lo mein was pretty good, and I enjoyed the sauteed green beans. The rest of the food was average, it was crowded, the staff was trying to keep up but not doing a great job. Remember: strip mall. Goshen. There IS good ethnic food to be found in Goshen, but Chinese is not going to be it.

Had a delicious Cashew Chicken lunch with fried rice and an egg roll as well as the traditional egg drop soup and tea. The veggies are fresh and not too crunchy - just right. Plus, the price is right. I didn't have any for lunch, but they do carry a nice selection of beers and wines, too.

Memories of China boasts one of the 100 healthiest Chinese menus in America, but that doesn't make the food taste any better. Don't get me wrong: It's not BAD food. I just wasn't blown away. The sesame chicken tastes like KFC drizzled in generic Asian sauce. The house special lo mein was terrifically boring. The shrimp pad thai was too wet and pink. If you're in Goshen and must have Chinese, you could do worse. Avoid the Thai dishes altogether.

Memories of China is by no means the best Chinese I have ever had but, for Goshen it's pretty decent. The quality of the food has been deteriorating for a while now but, if you know what to order you can have an enjoyable meal. The Thai selections are disappointing and many of the Chinese selections that are fried should be left alone. The pot stickers are still homemade and the egg foo yung is still very delicious. The lo mein has suffered in quality due the fact they no longer use homemade noodles. Not a bad place for Chinese in the area.

After being a loyal customer for over 10 years, the restaurant decided they will not deliver to us anymore because we are 6 miles away, and their new delivery limit is 5 miles. Nice.

Had Sunday buffet here. Authentic and very home-style food. Fresh and taste! Seems everything is handmade, which is way healthier than other places use food from factory.

In this small town of Indiana, I find this restaurant to be surprisingly delicious! All the foods are hand made by the cook, you can taste the authenticity from all the dishes. Drove past this town going to Chicago, will come back if I'm nearby again!

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
