First of all, if I was only rating the taste and quality of the food, it would get 5 stars hands down. The reason for the 4 stars is three-fold; it's just getting up and running, and it's just getting up and running in truly typical Indian fashion. I say this with great affection, having been born in India and spending the better part of my first 11 years there, and having returned twice since my folks left the mission field. For those in the know...jai hind! The third fold is the rather negative review which preceded this one, and made me realize I couldn't really give it the 5 stars I wanted to...at least not yet. India runs on a different time frame and with different emphases on what's important. (the punch line of one of my favorite jokes was an Indian fellow responding to the concept of Mexico's "manyana"..."we have something like that, but nothing that conveys the same sense of urgency".) So when things didn't go right (I was one of those at the "table next to us" of the bad review), and the wrong food was brought, it just felt like "jai hind" (loosely, "Glory to India, Victory to India"), which was something we'd say facetiously/sarcastically when something typically Indian (and wrong) happened (something broke, or was patched together in Rube Goldberg or duct tape fashion, or something arrived 2 days later than promised, or the electricity went out [again], etc.). There is no doubt that the gentleman at the next table was correct in his observations, but after pushing the opening back for approximately 2-3 months, in 2-3 week increments---("When are you opening?" "Oh, 2-3 weeks." "Oh, OK." Jai hind!)---I think the owners just sucked it up and opened, even if they didn't feel quite ready. (Seems they didn't realize they were opening on a First Friday. Oops. Jai hind!) So yes, there are definitely things that need to be addressed, and are, and will be. Things like getting dishes to ALL the tables in a timely (and American) fashion. Things like not enough serving spoons, and none in the condiment dishes on the tables (I think the musical condiments aspect will be addressed, although in India no one would bat an eye at such sharing). A baby in the kitchen...no one would notice in India, as businesses are generally family affairs. Cartilage in the chicken...how 'bout a neck or foot or head (all things you might find in Chicken Curry over there.) Then again, this is the US. They definitely needed more servers, and the hostess was actually a wait person in training, who was not yet familiar enough with the dishes to be used as a server (her words, not verbatim). Both times we've been there, the waitress (who's also an owner), seemed pretty frazzled, and needed more help than she either anticipated or had. . I'm almost positive these are growing pains, and will smooth out over the course of the next few months, and a better rhythm will be established, resulting in hotter food and fuller water and soft drink glasses, and a spoon for every pot. (On the plus side, pictures are going up, and the ambiance is slowly improving!) Until then, go in with a Jai hind attitude, and enjoy the taste of the food, which for me was the be-all and end-all, and which wildly exceeded my expectations. No "one sauce into which we put various vegetables and/or meats and call them different curries" here; each dish had its own character and spicing, the chef was obviously good at what he did and liked doing it, and the variety, especially when ordering from the menu, is excellent. When all the "bugs" are worked out (no, no puns there), this is going to be a restaurant that people talk about and travel distances to come to...a restaurant worthy of the vibrant downtown in which it's ensconced. Goshen ki Jai! Jai Hind! And that one is said with full conviction and no facetiousness...and definitely no sarcasm..

I love Indian food, and I was very happy with the buffet here. I tried everything-- it was all so good! I definitely recommend trying the chai tea. The only suggestion would be to cook the chicken a little bit longer... I got a big piece in one of the dishes and I'm not sure it was tender enough. Excellent service, and the next time I'm in town I will be stopping by!

We had been to this restaurant for buffet before. They had more veggie options and very average tasting chicken dishes. Disappointed we returned back. Today we returned for dinner hoping it will be better. Unfortunately it was worse than last time. I ordered chicken 65 appetizer and butter chicken with garlic naan for main course. The chicken 65 was the worst dish ever. They took some stale tandoori chicken from lunch and poured some sauce over it. It was so stale that i lost my appetite after tasting it. This dish is supposed to be fried and dry. They didn't even know how to make this dish and I guess they hoped the customers don't know either. In addition this dish was $9 with only 8-9 tiny pieces which was ludicrous. Coming to think of it it's a good thing it only had 9 pieces. No one could have eaten any more of that. Then I got my garlic naan but the butter chicken didn't come with it. And my naan was sitting on the table getting cold and dry. 10 mins later the butter chicken arrived. By this time the naan was super cold that I had to break it like bricks. The butter chicken was alright. Not bad. But it wasn't outstanding either. Overall I will not be visiting this restaurant again. Very disappointed with it. If you don't know what Indian food should taste like, you can venture here, although I wouldn't recommend it for your health.

Had the lunch buffet. Was very impressed. The buffet was very good, and the spice level high enough compared to other places where they tone it down for the general population during lunch. They included full samosas on the buffet, and the vegetarian selections were good as that's what I eat in Indian restaurants. A great addition to already lovely downtown Goshen. I wish my town had the choices, and Electric Brew is a great place to go afterwards, which I did.

My husband and I have a tradition of visiting Indian buffets so I can learn to appreciate the cuisine of his homeland. We've been to quite a few, and this one was... Interesting. The first thing I noticed was that they had all of my favorites, but none of his. They very clearly cater to the American pallet. This was even more obvious when we noticed he was the only Indian in the restaurant. They had chicken tikka, chicken makhani, paneer makhani, and goat curry. They also had some type of dish with hot dogs in it... Hot dogs. At an Indian restaurant. My husband was a little grossed out. The interesting thing about all these dishes was that none of them were done well. One or two were okay, and some (like the makhani... Also known as butter chicken) were down right disappointing and ruined by salt. They had a good dessert selection that was better than I've seen at most places (three options), but that was the only really good thing aside from the reasonable price. I love that Goshen has an Indian restaurant, but I think it would be better if it was a little more Indian. I would recommend it mostly because people should try different cuisines... Even if it is Americanized.

Had the lunch buffet. Service was inattentive and the food was okay. Nothing too exciting. Fair price.

So many vegetarian options for dinner, just had the Bhindi (fresh okra w onions) it was the best okra I've had, crunchy and very fresh. And they can make it actually spicy, if that's your thing.

Disclaimer: I have not tried the buffet which seems to be what everyone is raving about, so my rating is only based on one visit during the evening hours. I understand that after one visit, it is really hard to truly judge a place...but not sure I even want to give this place a second chance. I might have been able to look past one of the worst service I have ever experience had the food been amazing..but since the food my wife and I had was less than mediocre and overpriced, I have no choice but to give it a one star. I hate when people give places bad reviews, but give no reasons...so here are my reasons for a one star review: Service: They had two people in the restaurant. One hostess, and one "server". The server seemed distracted and was not paying attention to her tables. I understand that there were more tables than what she could handle, but that reflect more on the restaurants lack of preparation. She came to our table to take our order, and while I was telling her what I wanted, she was looking at another table not paying attention to me at all. She then finally realized I was ordering and then it took her a couple of seconds to flip her pad to a blank page and asked me to repeat my order so she could write it down. Then she did the exact same thing when my wife ordered. After about 40 minutes of waiting, she showed back up to our table with the wrong order. She then took the plates to another table and we proceeded to wait again. This happened to the table next to us a well, they were given the wrong food. I counted at least 6 tables who had arrived after us who got their food ahead of us. My guess is that she forgot to put our order in. I also asked for a refill on my soft drink towards the end of my meal which I never received. Food: In my opinion, it is very overpriced. The $14-$16 per plate is not unreasonable for Indian food, but for what we got, way overpriced. I got the Butter Chicken and my wife got the Lamb Kebab. Once our food finally arrived after waiting about 45 minutes to an hour, my bowl of butter chicken was semi-cold and the rice was extremely cold. My wife's lamb kebab was dry, cold, and the onions were not cooked. The menu also said all entrees are served with rice, but I guess that doesn't include the kebab since we only received one bowl of cold rice for our two entrees. The portions were smaller than what I expected for the price. My chicken had pieces of cartilage in it. The flavor of the chicken was very good, but too many other things that took away from the overall taste of the food. Other: There was a kid running around the kitchen. At one point in time the server left right in the middle of taking another table's order when she was brought what I am guessing was her son. Didn't happen to me, but kind of rude in my opinion. Also, there are these dipping sauces that are served with some flat bread at the beginning of the meal. There are no spoons or plates to put this sauce on the bread, so one must dip their "bread" into these sauces. Little did I know until after we ate the sauces that they just rotates these between tables which really grossed me out to think about how many people "double-dipped" their bread or whatever else they were eating before it got to us. I had assumed that they gave fresh sauces to each table, but was sadly mistaken when the server took our sauces and set them on a table next to us that had just arrived. Overall: One out of two entrees was tasty, but in my opinion, not worth the $40 we spent on this "experience". I left this place not only still hungry, but not happy with the evening my wife and I had. We were hopping for a nice time together, but instead we both left Maple Indian Cuisine with a bad taste in our mouths. I really hope this place improves since Goshen needs more than just Mexican and American restaurants, but I don't think we will be returning to eat here anytime soon...

This was one of my first visits to an Indian restaurant and anywhere I go after this will have a hard time beating it. I had Tandoori Chicken, Saag paneer, and garlic naan. The meal was excellent and the service was equal to the meal. If you are in the Goshen area you have got to try this place out.

JAE, from Goshen. the first day they opened I went, the food was good, service ok. 2nd time I went. was busy, 1 server, she was seemingly overwhelmed. no silver ware, had to ask, no drink refills. had to ask for the bread. she also acted like she didn't care and didn't want to be there, poor thing, she ended up in a bad situation, although why the owner didn't get proper help , alludes me, the food was good 2nd time as well. As well 2nd time we managed to walk in at some busy point, got quite loud. that was very unpleasant. irritating when guys are so loud like that, seriously! shut up. its a restaurant. not a football game or a bar. owner is nice, sweats too much over on counters while working that was sorta gross. letting it drip every where. but a nice guy ! the restrooms of womans clean. yeay . lov that ! the food is good though.

In town on business. FYI, appears Tuesday is the day for restaurants in Goshen to close. So we were actually headed somewhere else but ended up here. Glad we did. Buffet was one of the best Indian buffets I have had and it was not the largest. Just enough variety so that everything was done well. A large bowl of salad, cold and fresh. Other typical indian faves done well. I think thei chicken dish was tikka masala but it didn't have the red food coloring. Awesome! Good stuff.

Amazing food. I would have been happy with any edible Indian food but this far exceeded that! It's the best I've ever had. I highly recommend the chicken tikka masala. It's delicious! I also love the saag paneer. Yum! The atmosphere is clean and friendly. The owners are very approachable. Be prepared for a bit of a wait, they are always very busy! Don't worry though it's more than worth it!

Went for the lunch buffet and it was very crowded but we got a table right away. The buffet was kept full the entire time we were there, got plenty of naan and water refills, so it appears they've figured out any server issues. Everything I had was so tasty, namely the lentils and the rice pudding!! I will definitely be back.

We really wanted to like this place more because we love good Indian food...their selection is diverse and the atmosphere is nice but the food has too much sodium in it. We did the buffet twice and told our waitresses that it was good but a little too salty so maybe they will adjust. Some of the chicken was too gristly as well. We will check back in again later so hopefully they will fix that part.

Although I really appreciate the presence of an Indian restaurant in Goshen and the food was a-okay, I thought the menu was over priced. I haven't visited the restaurant during lunch hours which seems to be the go-to time for meals, but I visited during the evening hours. The server seemed friendly enough but I thought paying $14 for butter chicken, $2 for naan, as well as $4 for samosas. I hope that the prices level down to fit people's wallet sizes in the future.

Not impressed. Food was sparse on buffet and not fresh even on a weekend for lunch. Only one server who argued with me about a soft drink order. Overpriced for what you get. Won't be going back.

I'm here to edit my review with some positive changes. The buffet seems to have improved a lot -- more spice, less salty. I was blown away at how good it was. A lady in a pretty sari is usually around now to explain what the food is. - Dinner here was fantastic, albeit on the pricy side. I have mixed feelings towards the buffet. I've found it too salty and with too much chicken. The staff is so-so. Often the waitresses are not acquatined with what's on the menu, or overwhelmed, but it's still fairly new and I hope things improve. The naan has been hit or miss -- sometimes it's burnt.

I have been to Maple Indian Cuisine a handful of times. I have been with my spouse, parents and friends. Everything I've had I liked. My table mates also enjoyed their meals. You can get your dish mild, medium or hot so everyone can get the food tailored to their own palate. Unless someone your with will only eat a burger and fries there should be something for everyone. There are many vegetarian choices. The lunch buffet is a good deal and let's you try a variety of dishes so you can find out if you like Indian food. We have never had bad service but it has never been crowded. I did notice one of the servers taking a break today at lunch time and having a plate of food so I think that is a good sign as to the quality. I like to support locally owned mom and pop restaurants and I like this one and hope they can stay around a while.

Came here for dinner a few months ago. The food was delish but not enough! Everything was tasty we ate every grain of rice, morsel of chicken, and was sopping up the gravy with the naan because the portion was just TOO SMALL. We are not big eaters. Plus I was told I could easily share my dish with my 2.5 year old - chaaa I don't think so! Wish I would have order his own plate like I was going to do based on the info I got from other yelpers. And I know some of you are wondering why we didn't order more food?? Well we had our 4 month old with us too and those of you with little ones know the window of time when dining with dem babies is short.

Far exceeded all my expectations. The food was delicious. Navratan Korma is my favorite Indian dish and theirs was the best I've ever had. The buffet and menu have many vegetarian options. The decor is nice, and the wait staff are all very friendly. I'm so glad Goshen finally has an Indian restaurant. It totally beats the India Garden in Mishawaka which I also love.

Went to the Maple City Cuisine for the first time several days ago for dinner and was pleasantly surprised to say the least. The food was as good as any that I've had, including international cities like Chicago. The tikka masala was as good as any I've had, and my girlfriend's vindaloo was superb as well. The naan was also on point. Disregard reviews bashing the buffet; if you're a food snob, then you usually don't judge a formal sit-down restaurant based on the buffet. Great place.

We went on a Friday evening. The menu is HUGE!! Our waitress didn't have a lot of knowledge about the food she was serving, wasn't really able to recommend anything other than what she was primed to. When the vegetable platter appetizer came out, I asked her what each thing was and she didn't know! She definitely needs to educate herself on what she is serving. This is the reason for 4 stars vs 5. The food, however, was excellent. The vegetable appetizer platter we had was very very tasty and just enough for two people. I had the tikki masala which was really good. We had roti which was also good. We had a complimentary portion when we sat down and then ordered more because it was so good. One of the owners was out visiting tables and was very personable and the host when we cashed out was very friendly and asked specific things about our meal which showed interest on her part, more so then you see at a lot of restaurants. My husband and I decided we need to come back and do the buffet so we can try more dishes and know better what to order next time. The restaurant was very clean. Definitely a visit to repeat.
