Today's service SUCKED. Beans in the white queso dip were ice cold. Sent it back and when the waitress returned with a new one, it was the same way. Despite her saying "this one's very hot" and wiping the dripping queso off the sides of the bowl with her fingers. Gross. Her shirt had food stains all over it, also very unappealing. Could not get napkins as she'd disappeared and didn't come back... I had to go the bar and grab a stack myself. Not a good visit here.

I can't let the lone 5-star review of Hacienda stand. No sir. This is not good Mexican food. It's barely good food. Let me put it this way: Given the choice between Hacienda and starving, I would eat it. I have eaten here several times, in fact, mostly under duress or politeness. But Mexican? I guess this is some middle-of-nowhere whitebread Midwesterner's version of Mexican food. Which is highly ironic in a town like Goshen, that boasts a 20% Hispanic population. The food is bland, bland, bland. There's no authenticity, no spice to speak of, not much flavor. Service is fine, but who cares if the food is just boring? There are a dozen better places -- not all of them holes in the wall! -- in Goshen and the surrounding area. Save yourself and your tastebuds. (PS Aren't chips and salsa free at nearly every Mexican restaurant? And the salsa isn't like chunky ketchup at most of them!)

I grew up in Indiana and Hacienda was the THE Mexican restaurant to go to growing up. Then I moved to New Mexico and my taste evolved to the point where I place the food at the same level as Taco Bell.. But that isn't my issue with this restaurant. I have not had a 100% complete, decent, meal since moving back here a few years ago.. Either the service sucks, or the food sucks.. Sometimes both.. But mostly the food.. Last night was yet another example.. Our daughter was in town and shoe loves the place so we went there.. I ordered my meal without beans.. Guess what, beans.. Lots of beans.. That wouldn't have been so bad except that they were only in half of my burrito.. Since I started at the other end I didn't notice them until I got to the half way point.. So, not only did they put beans in a meal that wasn't supposed to have them, they didn't even make the burrito right/wrong because they only put beans in half it.. I'm done.. Never again..

In a city inundated with Mexicans it is safe to bet Goshen has some amazing Mexican places. Oddly enough this Americanized Mexican chain somehow manages to work in this town of people afraid to try new things. Went back to visit this last Christmas and found myself here having a wet burrito! I love wet burritos with their juicy chicken, lettuce, beans, cheese and sour cream with ranchero sauce poured over top! After the meal we decided dessert was in order (the only reason my friend wanted to go here). We ordered the Rocky Mountain Mudslide. This was a dream. A hot skillet cookie with Ice cream and drizzled with chocolate and caramel! OH MAMMA I'M COMING HOME! It was delicious! Now I just wish I lived closer!

While this isn't the best Mexican restaurant around, it has the best chips and salsa in the area. Their chicken is very good as well.

Decent Mexican restaurant. The chips are quite good. Their signature wet burrito was good. The peanut butter pie was fantastic!

Pretty good place to eat out, not a 5 star place but a good place to just lounge and and eat.

Bland salsa. Gravy on burritos. The frozen margaritas were the only saving grace. With so many terrific Mexican restaurants in Goshen (I'm not kidding), there's no reason to visit Hacienda.

I have a different perspective from many people that look at reviews. I have food allergies. Several of them. Serious enough that I have to carry an epipen. It's really hard for me to dine out because of the variety of things I am allergic to. I checked out their website shortly after my diagnosis, and found that they had a listing of the different allergens, and what foods I could safely eat. Before visiting the Goshen location, I called and spoke to the manager on duty, to make sure that they would be able to fully accommodate my allergies, as I'd need a few small changes to my meal to make sure it was safe. The manager (Alex) was very helpful when I spoke to him on the phone and again when I arrived. For the first time since my diagnosis, I was able to dine out with my friends and family, not have a reaction while eating, and then leave the restaurant feeling FULL. I didn't have a reaction at all, not even a delayed reaction. For that reason alone, my family will now frequent the Goshen location when we want to dine out. We all get a meal that leaves us feeling satisfied, and I don't have to go to the hospital. It's a win all around!

Hard to beat their chips and salsa. I suggest their ground beef wet burrito. Also a great place to stop in for a beer or margarita.

Ok food. Service was good, but should be with only 4 groups in restaurant. Complimentary chips and salsa are always tasty. We all ordered shredded beef burritos, each ordered a different way. All arrived the way we ordered. The bottom of my tortilla was wet and soggy, like the lettuce wasn't drained. Beef filling was moist and sauce on outside was flavorful, with a good amount of cheese. I ordered Mexican rice and it was somewhat overcooked and sticky. Overall a good meal, but not great.

Since my boyfriend still considers me to be new in town, he thought a nice date night would be to go to Hacienda. For a Saturday night, I thought it would be banging. It really wasn't.(not a complaint) We were seated instantly. Our waitress asked for our drinks, they apparently only have one drink special a night. My boyfriend got the frozen Long Island special $3.50!!! I was trying to order a margarita, however this place likes to make it difficult by having you choose mix-ins and there's no "house" tequila. Anyway. I ended up ordering the Long Island special. DELICIOUS!! I have NEVER had a Long Island this good!! Chips and salsa come courtesy. Chips are great. The salsa was alright. Not my style. It's thick with no chunks. Rather odd. Flavor was lost somewhere in the making. I ordered the spinach and chicken quesadillas. No bang for your buck, but something I could guess the calories on. The quesadilla was pretty good. The chicken was flavorless though. The only thing that saved it was my boyfriend's avocado ranch. Let me get back to that cup of heaven. He ordered the traditional combo, burrito, chimmichanga(sp), and taco salad(with side of avocado ranch). His whole meal, not a complaint. Flavorful, delicious. But this avocado ranch!!! Oh. My. God!!!! I could have thrown that on the rocks and drank it!! House made, chucks of avocado, creamy, smooth, well balanced flavor of ranch and avocado. Mmmm mmmm!! Our waitress was friendly. Nothing special. She gave us the check without my boyfriend being finished with his meal, and hovered around the table for a few minutes waiting for us to cash out. Overall it was good, clean, friendly.

Good margaritas, good for birthdays. Avoid if u like authentic Mexican food or have high blood pressure. A fun place!

I love Hacienda with all my heart. I think the Warsaw location has a better atmosphere, but I'd stop at the Goshen Hacienda any time. I don't care if it's authentic, it's tasty! And easy on the wallet.

Typical Hacienda - I don't really care for their food. It always comes out extra greasy and with an odd, almost metallic off taste. Bland too. If you want more authentic Mexican food, go to San Jose, San Marcos, Los Primos, Duranguenze, Universal Tamal or El Camino in town. The one redeeming factor (and the reason for three stars): Free chips and salsa and awesome margaritas. I'm here about once every one or two months just for those items.

I always stop in here when I'm in town. What's not to like...a whole Liter of Margarita on Friday for around $10! Genius! Their chips & salsa are great (they're FREE too) and their Mexican food is also great. It's not a hole in the wall "real" Mexican place with Spanglish written in the menus. It's a mini-chain restaurant in Indiana that serves "American" Mexican food if that makes sense. This place has really expanded since they moved into their spot in Linway Plaza. Great addition to the Goshen nightlife... If you come back to town...you'll run into someone here you know. That is why I love this place. Good times!

A surprising gem. We were traveling home from a soccer game in Goshen and googled "restaurants near me" and found this place. Seated in 1 minute, served in 15, food great, and servers were just as delightful. The manager found out it was our first time and came to visit our table upon our arrival AND just as we were about to get the check. She even gave us directions to get back to the highway. My husband had the wet burrito, which he loved and had for lunch the next day bc it was massive. I had fish tacos which were great. They brought us a gluten free menu as well bc I made a comment about ordering a corn tortilla and needing GF. Mind you I didnt ask, our waitress just picked up on it and brought it to me. Service oriented, friendly and great atmosphere! NOTE: American-Mexican, which they pointed out to us - which I am assuming they didn't want us to be disappointed. Great they pointed it out but I don't think it would have made a difference. Too bad we don't live closer than a 3 hour drive.

Hacienda delivers tasty frozen margaritas and decent chips and salsa. Aside from that, it's a miss. There are far better Mexican places to try. If you want to be social, stay close to home and drink some frozen libations- this is your place. Otherwise, check out El Camino. Alison is my go to server here- she's great and has been here for 10 years or so. Nice to have a friendly face when I'm drinking!

I've eaten here many times! And it's not for the food....which I just find salty and not much more than that. It's the atmosphere and the cheap drinks, while enjoying the time with friends that does it for me. A place where great memories can be made. Yes the avocado ranch is the best thing there on the menu for me. lol The complimentary chips and dip are a good touch.

I love this place! I used to live in Elkhart, IN and would go all the time. Now that I am in Denver, I go every time I visit family, sometimes twice a trip! The management may change but they all have been great and very accommodating to a party of 2 or 25! LOVE LOVE LOVE

Found myself up in the Goshen area a few weeks ago visiting some friends. They took me to Hacienda, which they described as their favorite Mexican place and a local favorite as well. "So what's the signature dish here? I mean what can I NOT get somewhere else?" I asked them, as well as the waitress. I have to say, choosing to call a food item a "wet burrito" is pretty unappetizing in my book. Putting aside the visions of a soggy flour tortilla, I ordered the chicken burrito with poblano cream sauce. As this experience was a couple weeks ago, I want to say that the burrito was not all that memorable besides the fact that it was called 'wet.' However, I recall not being able to stop eating it until it was embarrassingly all gone. (This after my host raved about the burritos being as big as your head, and my head is in fact rather large, and I found his claim to be close to true.) Thus I must conclude that the burrito was pretty decent, although the poblano cream sauce was nothing too special. Hacienda is not bad as Mexican places go, but it is nothing too special if you've eaten lots of Mexican before. I should also mention that there was a "Happy Birthday" pinata hanging above our table for some reason, which made me pretty happy. (Nobody in our party was celebrating a birthday.)

I love Hacienda and grew up on this stuff. It is an Indiana chain, so this is not the place to go for authentic Mexican food. (I'm not sure there's anything "authentic" in Linway Plaza.) In fact, I don't come here for the "Mexican" food. The last time I was here was around Christmas. I went with a friend during the late afternoon so it was pretty empty. You start off with a basket of homemade tortilla chips (which they will refill) and individual bowls of salsa (which I don't eat). I always order the homemade ranch dip to go with the chips. They have changed the menu a bit since I was there around Thanksgiving. I used to order the Mesquite Grilled Chicken Breast, but that is no longer on the menu. So I went with the Mesquite Grilled Chicken sandwich and took off the bun, cheese, and bacon. (I probably could have ordered it that way, but I didn't want to be annoying.) The fries could have been better, but you don't come here to eat fries and I only use them as something else to dip in the ranch dip. This was the first time in a long time I went for dessert since I was there with someone who wasn't on a restricted carb diet. We went with the Chocolate Mountain Mudslide. A freshly cooked chocolate chip cookie covered in ice cream, chocolate, and caramel sauce. (This was the one of the reasons I was here, the other being the chips.) So yummy and too much for one person to eat after a meal. The service is generally decent and everything can be ordered for take out. They will also make party platters. Most of the time that I go back home and almost every time my parents come to visit me, I get the chips and ranch to go.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
