Really good, chop steak and eggs one of the best I love the home made jellys.

Very slow for breakfast...took 40 minutes to get our food. Not much to choose from on the menu. Food quality not that good. I would go to the omelette house or Sophia's before I go here again.

loved jelly! had the delicious spartan omelet and an even better build your own bloody. I don't understand all the negative reviews. maybe I got lucky? my server was super sweet and attentive. will definitely be back!

My family loves going here for the gluten-free pancakes! They are big and fluffy and so tasty. We like to spread their wonderful jam over the pancakes. It gives it a nice flavor. My favorite dish here is the Gypsy Skillet with eggs over-medium. The service is always great and friendly!

This should defiantly be a option for breakfast. I like how the have homemade jellies. The place is clean and fresh looking on the inside. Sometimes there is a wait but they flip the tables fast here. I think that the food is above average and the service is fast. Keep this one on your list.

I won't make this a lengthy review, just get straight to the point....The food was delicious, the prices good, the waiter was great, however...there is some guy that's always there, not sure if he's the greeter or the owner, but LOOSE THE ATTITUDE. The place isn't as great as to have a shitty attitude towards people both coming in and going out. This has happened to us every time we come into the place, it's your customers that make your business, not your looks or snob appeal.

The BF & I came here last Saturday around noon and enjoyed our brunch. I had the Eggs Florentine & the BF had a skillet. They definitely didn't skimp on the hollandaise sauce on my dish, and I ended up dipping all my potatoes in it too - yum! The BF's skillet came with pancakes which he raved about. The decor was nice and reminded us of a place that would be in Chicago. There wasn't a wait and the total for 2 dishes + a chocolate milk was $19 without tip. Maybe I'm just used to Chicago prices, but SO reasonable! I'll be back when I'm in the area!

I came in to jelly on news year day. It was busy. This place is always busy which is good because that means the food must becthat good. I had pancakes and bacon. Glass of freshed squeezed OJ. The pancakes were soo good. They were melt in your mouth good. They give you a huge plate of moist and sweet tasting pancakes and the bacon was crispy and tasty. You cant get any better that fresh squeezed OJ it was awesome. Thats the best part of the meal. And although my waitress Paige ( tall girl with long hair )was busy she was very nice and did a great job answering our questions and taking care of us. She has exceptional customer service skills. So if you go here ask for her. Cant wait to go back and try the greek omelot.

The other review mentioning lighting was right - it's really dark in here for breakfast. My vegetable skillet came with a few pieces of steak in it, which some folks might consider a bonus. I'm a vegetarian, though, so I was pretty annoyed. The pancakes were mediocre. The waitresses are all young, pretty, and very nice. Service was good. Coffee was decent in strength and quality. My father in law comes here all the time and loves it, but said it can get very crowded. Portion sizes are very large.

Greek fries and build your own bloody Mary's.... That's all you need to know. What are you waiting for?! Put your shoes on!

This review only gets three stars because Brenda is awesome. Sadly, she had to leave and transfer us to another server. We started with the waffle flight which was good. I had an omelette with bacon, Swiss and spinach and I'm not exaggerating when I say I almost threw up on the table. You know when you shop for bacon and you check the back to look at how much fat it has? Yeah they must not do that because a ball of I unchewable and probably undigestible piece of fat in my omelette left me unable to finish the rest of my food. Now, by no means is this our servers fault. And I would never take that out on her. However, the server, Briana, just said "ohhh" and walked away. I never expect to receive anything free, however, the least she could have done was either take off the $2 bacon charge from my bill, or at LEAST have been apologetic, even if she didn't mean it. I am a server, and it sucks to have to apologize on behalf of the kitchen, but it's part of the job. It's part of the job to TRY to make the guest happy after something goes wrong. Briana made us feel awkward and like we were wasting her time. She asked us more than once for the signed copies of the bill which I found very rude. Never thanked us or wished us a good day. Just said "try not to throw up on any tables." Yeah. I'm in no rush to return, but when I do I'll make sure I'm waited on by Brenda and not to get anything with bacon in it...

All homemade food. Tastes delicious good service friendly wait staff. I've been there more then once. It is reasonably priced and hand squeezed orange juice. Foods great!

I don't like this location as much as the Merrillville one. Fore some reason I feel that this one is a bit too crowded, it's probably just some of the table spacing but, it feels like close quarters in some areas. The food here is just as delicious as the other restaurant, same great pancakes, same fluffy eggs and unfortunately the same sausage patties - like I said in the review of their Merrillville loc. the patties tasted a wee bit too herby for me... you may like em though. I never said they were "BAD", just not for me. There IS an outdoor seating area which is cool in the summer, not much of a view out there though. It faces the parking lot and a pet store. The outdoor seating is also more spaced out too, nice place to hang out and have a family breakfast on a nice summer morning. SYOY

Great food and customer service! There's a great waitress named Alexandria who serviced my family and I so nicely. If it's your first time their she can give you great recommendations! Definitely going back

Came here to have a nice family breakfast, but ended up overhearing the manager screaming at a waitress because she wasn't selling enough drinks. We were waiting at our table when we heard all the yelling, then when our waitress comes well what do you know she is trying to get us to buy drinks like mimosas and bloody marys. What the hell is this a breakfast place or a bar? What if I was a recovering alcoholic lol? (I'm not but i'm just sayin!!) If this place wants to make money off of selling drinks they are in the wrong business. Just stick to good food and FRIENDLY attitudes! Oh might I mention the manager, some guy, gives off such a douchey attitude I can't believe that's who is running the place. I have been to the other location and it's such a different atmosphere. If I really want Jelly's I'll go to the Merrillville location. But for now I won't be returning here. That manager ruined our breakfast, we should've went to Round the Clock I would have never dealt with that there!

I was not impressed with this place. The lighting is more for dinner not breakfast. It was dark, crowded, and cold. I was constantly getting bumped into and I could smell the women next me. Ugh! And it was freezing! The food was decent but I will not be returning. Can't wait until Sophia's reopens.

I have tried a few items so far and will def keep coming back to try more. The corned beef has great flavor, but it is finely shredded with hash browns, onions and green peppers. That's all fine, but it is kinda mushy. It seems like they make it, then heat it on the griddle by pressing it down like hash browns, then flipping it over and doing it again. The middle stays soft and mushy but there is a slight crunch to the part that was pressed. I like a more uniform texture. I had a.skillet which was very tasty, but I had taken it to go and they don't package their heavy food to go well. I had 4 breakfasts from the one skillet, maybe could have had more, but the food was all on one side and the container bent, causing some to fall out. :/ The pancakes are delicious, light, fluffy, stick to the roof of your.mouth good. The syrup is not pure maple, but that's alright. Not many places have the pure stuff. I tried the jelly and ill be honest, I wasn't impressed at all. It was more jello textured than jelly. The strawberry was really light in color, which makes me think there wasn't much fruit to it. I make strawberry jelly at home and it is always much darker than that. And even thought I like more preserves type jelly with chunks of fruit, I still like smoother jelly, but I really didn't like this. I could barely taste strawberry. It tasted like fruit, but more like a red gummy bear, not an actual distinguishable flavor. I would definitely keep trying more. I'd like to try the chicken and waffles and crepes, as well as the cinnamon toast crunch French toast, just to name a few. But I'll avoid getting anything heavy to go and avoid toast and jelly.

this is my favorite breakfast place. fresh squeezed oj, gluten free options and designer specials that change often!

  • Margaret A.

Worst breakfast ever!!!!! If I could give NO STARS I would!!! Took way to long for food to come, when it came it was so cold the butter wouldn't even melt on the pancakes. There was a weird spice on the potatoes that works better for chicken not breakfast potatoes. I was never offered more coffee until I complained about cold food and no coffee. All I was offered was to have the pancakes taken off of a bill for a meal that the pancakes were included!! $25 breakfast for inedible food. I will NEVER go back!!!

  • Toni T.

I have never had a bad meal at Jelly. My favorite thing to get is the cinnamon toast crunch french toast. They give you a lot and you can ask for a half order if you prefer. Their tea is fabulous!! They serve loose tea in your own tea pot and after it steeps you put the tea pot on top of your mug and the tea comes out the bottom. My favorite is peppermint. Usually a pretty long wait on Sundays, not so bad other days.

Watch your silverware had a dirty spoon with food on it. It was in my ice tea glass drank the whole thing and didn't notice until I was leaving. Food was good until I saw the spoon. They only thing she did was take the glass of ice tea off the bill.... Will not come back I'm sick to my stomach.

Okay, before I start, let me just say that I've been here at least 4 times, so this review is based on the overall general experience. There are a few things that they do really well here. Jelly's has good homemade jellies served with your meal and available for purchase. They serve fresh squeezed orange juice that is really good. Service here is VERY friendly and helpful. I've never had a bad experience with any of the wait staff. The food, though, isn't all that memorable but it's still pretty good, for a breakfast place. Definitely better than, say, a Denny's or Baker's Square or Cracker Barrel or any of the icky dive diners on Indianapolis Blvd. The country fried steak is good but the eggs and red potatoes are pretty bland. I know I've had the pancakes before but nothing sticks out in my mind about them. Same with the crepes and I definitely didn't like the blintzes. The coffee is really terrible, but that's not at all unusual in Indiana. Most of the coffee I've been served in this state tastes like tar. In general, though, I like this place. Friendly staff, roomy tables, nice decor, a couple good highlights like the jelly and orange juice.

Haven't had a bad meal yet at Jelly. The service is always friendly and helpful. If you like pancakes, the oatmeal cookie pancakes are delicious. If you like French toast, the crunchy French toast is really inventive and satisfying. I love how inventive the menu is. They also have chicken and waffles and biscuits and gravy which I would also recommend. Love this place!

We moved to the area a few months ago and have tried this restaurant several times. We have had a great experience, every time! Food is delicious and service is great. Of course there will be a wait on weekends, it's an awesome place! We went on Mother's Day and received wonderful service even though it was packed. I will continue recommending this restaurant.

WARNING! My mom paid for our breakfast / lunch with a credit card. When she received her statement there was an extra charge for a tip even though a tip was left on the table. Check your credit card statements if you use a credit card at this place. Okay, now that that is out of the way! My mother took me to lunch here last week. I ordered breakfast, country fried steak, eggs, biscuits and gravy. Everything was very good. Definitely better-than-average food here. She had lunch, which she enjoyed. My dad came here earlier and loves their breakfast too! He is very picky on breakfast, so that is high praise coming from him! They have TVs inside if you like places with TVs. The inside is nice and you're not sitting on top of others - a lot of space between tables. Overall, it's a nice restaurant with above-average breakfast. The only downside was that extra charge on the credit card.

Went here for breakfast last week. I ordered a breakfast sandwich which was good and it came with well seasoned red potatoes. My husband ordered pancakes. I tried his pancakes and they just weren't good. He didn't enjoy them either. For a pancake house, I'd expect phenomenal pancakes. Coffee wasn't all that great either.

My husband and I visited Jelly for the first time on a Saturday after 11am. I always like to see some ingenuity in a restaurant, especially in Northwest Indiana among the cookie cutter eateries you'll find. Jelly was a great experience and I will be back, perhaps to try the Merrillville location also. The atmosphere had a casual, somewhat whimsical flair with the cute Jelly artwork on the walls. A lofty feel with ductwork exposed at the ceiling in a black background. I think that's cool when shops do that...feels airy and utilitarian. Fresh-squeezed orange juice was definitely fresh and worth the purchase of a carafe. The coffee was very good and I was so glad that that this restaurant cares as much about a cup of java as they do about the menu. The machine had "Douwe Egberts" displayed on it. That's some good stuff! Some of those cookie cutter breakfast spots have bland, nasty coffee. I ordered the Mediterranean Frittata with Buttermilk Pancakes. Enormous portions! My husband ordered the Country Skillet with the Pancakes. His egg was cooked perfectly for over medium well. Dishes were very good. Pancakes were thick and fluffy with good flavor. They brought a side of strawberry jam and mimosa preserve to the table, which I tried. They were both good and I even sampled it on the pancakes. The menu is creative, but serves palates both traditional and experimental. Lunch selections looked tasty too. Another feature of this restaurant is a country-style display case near the door that houses packaged jams, coffees, loose tea and apparently you can buy their juice in a milk jug. Stuff would make a nice gift in a basket for a Jelly fan. Our bill was about $30, but worth the treat.

I've never had to walk out off a restaurant before until Sunday. I tried to take my parents to breakfast and went to jelly. After sitting at a table for 15 minutes a who's decided to talk to us. Brought 2 glass for water even though there were four of us. She went and got two more glass and all four were filthy. I tried getting more glasses and this time there things floating in the water. Terrible service and there is never an excuse to leave people sitting at a table for that long.

Pork chop breakfast is wonderful. Pork chops are wonderfully seasoned, little disappointed with potatoes...too little and a little dried out but the homemade jelly is excellent.

We had driven past this place many times before we finally tried it. The service was good, the food was very good. The only issue we had was when my fiancee and I got the bill and found it was $30 for the two of us to eat breakfast. Even having very good food, we thought the bill was too high for two people to eat breakfast. Outside of that, everything with this place was very good.

How can you mess up breakfast? Well just ask Jelly. I was so excited that a breakfast restaurant would be in walking distance from me, well so much for that thought after eating there. What a disappointment. They were over priced, the hash brown tasted liked they had been sitting in the refrigerator and they warmed them up. The Bacon was very hard and the pancakes were not that good. I hoped that this would be a nice place as I anxiously awaited their opening. Don't bother just drive down the road to the Omelette house and enjoy a good breakfast that does not cost $12.00 for one person!

very good food, very busy, service was slow and had to ask for refills on ice tea, coffee refills can around frequently.

First off I have to give a separate 5 stars to their fresh squeezed orange juice! It's so good and seriously one of the reasons I always what to come here for breakfast. $3.50 a glass but totally worth it (sign up for their text club and get a free glass!) The food is always good. I usually get pancakes and bacon which is simple but very good. My husband is in love with the chicken and waffles and get it every time we go there. We even tried the jelly last time we went there even though we didn't have toast and it is EXCELLENT! We bought two hard to take home. The coffee is meh...the servers are great at keeping it coming but it's just not that good. The only other thing I can say is I never get a good table in this restaurant! I wish they would figure out a better set up on the patio so I don't have to sit in the middle of all the tables (I swear I always end up in the center table with trays whizzing past my head)...when I go out to breakfast I like a nice, cozy table away from children but I alway end up right in the middle. We went on Mother's Day weekend and they were super busy (which is totally understandable) but the table they gave us was so awful that we ended up moving (after sitting there for 15 mins with a cup of coffee with no cream, sugar or a spoon and a carafe of water with no glasses)...hint-don't put a table next to the Bloody Mary bar so you have servers butts in your face and a mess next to you...I never ask to move but when a server walked up (which I thought was to take our order) and instead picked up our drink menu to see what was in a drink she was making) I about had it. I asked to move and the hostess was very snotty about it (but we ended up on the patio of course). Let me say though this was my only bad experience at Jelly in Dyer. Good food, good service (the girls are very nice but the bussers can be a little more quiet when cleaning dishes off tables)...we really like Jelly and we will be back!

I give this place a "meh", on a scale of "Ughhhh" to "Huzzah!". The service is fairly nonchalant about the fact that you're choosing their establishment to eat. They seem like they could take or leave the fact that you are there. The food is just "okay". I had bacon, eggs, and potatoes and it was fairly bland and unremarkable. The person I was with had a chicken pita that was really dry and lacked any kind of sauce or anything. Given the unremarkable nature of, well, everything the menu is somewhat pricey. Try Benedict's across the street, you'll be happier.

As I'm always looking for a place to get a breakfast/brunchy kind of meal, I've heard and seen this place but have never stopped. I finally had an opportunity recently to stop and am glad I did. I got there and noticed a very cozy atmosphere. There were others there dining, but it wasn't overly crowded. I ordered a gypsy skillet which came with pancakes. The coffee was with free refills so it all made for a great brunch. I'll gladly come back here as the food is good and isn't overly expensive.

  • Andrew T.

Always great food and service, my coffee is always full, and servers are on top of everything. Orange juice is fresh. We are now dedicated to here, especially since there are lots of tables where there is little to no wait when we come on the weekends for breakfast.

This place is pretty good. Nothing spectacular in terms of food, but good service and a solid breakfast. Their coffee is good and hot and they came around frequently even today, on a very busy day-before-mother's-day Saturday morning. They have a number system for waiting. There's not really any place to sit inside though if it is rainy and cold outside and very crowded. I did like the system they had, though. You get a number and they have a bright red digital sign on the wall, so if you don't hear your number, you can look up on the wall to see who they're seating now. It's pretty efficient. My booth seat was a little dirty, but the waitress was friendly and promptly wiped it down. It was totally excusable. They were packed! This is a good place to bring small children to as well. BOOTHS... Booths are great for kids as are the highchairs they provide, not to mention the paper and crayons. The bathrooms are clean and roomy. Portions seemed perfect to me. Prices are great. Something they could improve on is the freshness of the food. The vegetables in my veggie omelet were limp and sad. They didn't taste fresh at all, and maybe were previously frozen then cooked? It was alright, though. Good hashbrowns. They were very accommodating to my dairy allergy as well. I'd go back, but I'd rather be at The Scrambled. ;)

I went to Jelly Pancake House for brunch on New Years Day with a few friends, and I was pleasantly surprised! The restaurant itself is very spacious with lots of seating. Even though it was crowded, we did not have to wait very long to be seated. If you do find yourself waiting, there is a bench to sit on, as well as a full bar with plenty of stools to sit on around it. They have a nice variety of seasonal mixed drinks (a few "adult" hot chocolates, apple ciders, and irish coffee), as well as a build-your-own margarita menu (you can choose all ingredients, even what vodka to use!). I only had a coffee, and their coffee was very good! All of their breakfast entrees come with sides (potatoes, pancakes, toast), and you have the option of ordering multi-grain pancakes or gluten-free sweet potato pancakes instead of buttermilk. It is well worth the trip out and you certainly get a good "bang for your buck!" My friend ordered the hobo skillet, and absolutely loved it. Another ordered the french toast, and he finished his plate as well. I had eggs and multi-grain pancakes. The eggs were cooked perfectly, and the pancakes were fluffy and easy to cut with a fork (qualities I expect in my pancakes). I have been recommending Jelly Pancake House since my first visit, and I am looking forward to returning in the near future.

Decent breakfast and brunch location. I suppose they are known for their pancakes but I had an omelette. It was good, not great, but satisfying. The potatoes that were served with my omelette had some kind of all spice seasoning on them that was different - nice change to regular potatoes or hash browns. Really good coffee, too.

Just a average guy review....... The waitress was awesome and the people associate with the restaurant are very inviting . The food on the other hand was not to the level of the service at Jelly's . I ordered a stack of buttermilk pancakes with blueberry toppling as well as sausage links. A very basic order but the topping was missing till the waitress brought it to the table but honestly that's just being a complete jerk if that was the only thing . From the first bite the pancakes was just too dry . The topping I thought might help but it tasted as though it came from a can. Plus Running a knife through the stack had a crumbling moment not one layer stayed in place and the pancake could have been used as sprinkles on a desert.

I'm not much of a breakfast person...but this place is EVERYTHING! I've never been disappointed here. The red velvet french toast is my favorite. So yummy! And the freshly squeezed orange juice is wonderful. This place gets me excited to wake up on a Sunday morning!

So disappointed in this place.. Went here last Saturday with some family after a work out.. First of all they only gave us one glass of ice water for our entire table and didn't even bother giving us another until we asked. They served my brother his green tea with lipstick all over the mug, then preceded to give him another one with dust inside (she even charged him for it still!!!!) Then we got our food which was pretty mediocre, nothing special tasting.. Our bill was outrageous for the small amount of food we each had. Im no cheapskate or anything but i paid $12 for an omlette and fruit. Had it been good would of have been okay. Needless to say we wont be returning.
