Great lunch stop. Had the haminator - best ham and witch I have had in a long time. Prices for lunch are reasonable, staff very friendly. Found it because of yelp - glad we stopped. If I lived nearby this would be a regular lunch stop.
I reserve my 5 star reviews for a place that has great Customer Service along with a superb product. Most places end up with a 3 or a 4 because they miss the mark on something, but Foodies is definitely fitting of the 5 star rating. I read a review raving about Foodies yesterday and since I was going to be in the area to stop at Dessert Menu, I knew I had to check it out. I wasn't sure what to expect from the outside, but this place is so retro chic inside. I absolutely loved everything about it and almost felt like I was not cool enough to be here. When you walk in, there's a small little market that carries different kinds of cocoa, homemade candy/snacks, coffee, rubs, dips, and they even have a section with craft beer. I ended up buying a bag of Labriola Pretzel rolls because I absolutely love pretzel rolls and they'll make for great sandwiches to bring to work. I was considering buying a few other things, but I decided to opt for a quick lunch instead. I ordered the 1/2 soup or salad plus a 1/2 sandwich. I went with the Diner style Tuna Melt and the Chili. They had a huge selection of soups and it was near impossible to pick. The other ones that I considered were: Steak and Ale, Broccoli Cheddar and Loaded Potato. I should have just ordered a cup of all of them being the huge soup lover that I am. It only took a few minutes and then my meal was being brought out to me. The chili was a little thicker than how I like my chili--I normally like a lot more broth--but this was some of the best chili I've had in awhile. It had just the right amount of spice, tomatoes, beans and meat to make it fantastic. The tuna sandwich was really good too, but I should have ordered something more unique for my experience. You can never go wrong with a tuna melt, but I can also make a pretty mean one at home so next time I will go with a Reuben or one of their paninis. My favorite part about the whole dining experience though was the amazing customer service. Everyone here that I encountered was overly friendly--not in that fake sort of way--but in the "we really care about what you think and we'll go out of our way to make sure you're happy." They were absolutely fantastic. The lady taking orders told me I could try anything I wanted, so I should have taken her up on that offer to try all of those soups. She was so sweet and I'm not sure if she was the owner or just a really good employee but she made my whole lunch A+.
Hello Illinois-ians! Foodies is a Super place to stop for lunch that's juuuuuuuuust over the border! Super cute, kinda diner feel, friendly staff and great daily specials. You order at the counter and take a table. Service was fast.....the Adult Grilled Cheese is AMAZING and I've never had a soup I didn't love. A little tough to spot, it's tucked behind another restaurant on Route 30, but do find it and stop next time you cross the border!!

Love this restaurant! Nothing like it in the area. I love anything with the carne asada (especially the fajitas), and my husband is beyond obsessed with the shrimp tacos. Excellent margaritas and guacamole as well! The owners, Hilda and Ruben, are wonderful. We live in Cedar Lake and make the trip often because the food is that great :)
well i been back to this place a couple of times already and i must say im impressed. though their menu does not include many dishes the ones i had where pretty good although i tend to stick with the fajitas cause they are awesome! i only give it 4 stars due to the lack of their menu variety
My husband and I loved this place! The salsa is delicious, the margaritas are strong and inexpensive, the food is authentic and high quality. I loved the Hilda's margarita. Who puts Grand Marnier in a $6 margarita?? Ruben's does! My husband had a strawberry margarita that was made with REAL strawberries! I had the shrimp fajitas and my husband had the carne asada. Both were inexpensive and very flavorful. The clincher? Homemade tortillas! We are definitely returning!

Good pizza from a great business family. Their crust is always crispy and their ingredients always fresh. They've been in the business a long time and certainly know how to do things correctly. Try the double crust or the super thin crust (both well done). You can't go wrong.
Had it for the first time yesterday! Thoroughly enjoyed it! Will definitely be ordering it again. My only complaint would be with a lady at the counter. I asked her for the daily special (which was a free 2 liter of pop). (My wife wanted it, I don't care much for pop). I asked for it and she said that I had to order it when i called in my order. I was sad, so I asked another waitress and she fixed the confusion and let me have the pop. Not a big deal, just remember to mention any specials when you order. Love it! Will be back!
When you travel for work a lot, sometimes all you want for a meal is to grab something and take it back to the room instead of eating out. A take-out pizza fills the bill nicely, but too often the pizza is too big to finish. Yes; you are on the company dime, but you hate to throw out two thirds of a pizza. Even with a refrigerator in the room, you might not appreciate cold pizza, which I don't care for. Why all this talk of pizza size? Doreen's offers a small pizza with four slices, just enough for a meal. I have only had their pizza once but would go back again. The sausage pizza had spicy sausage underneath the cheese and made for a good meal back in the hotel room. Doreen's has a more extensive menu that I would want to try in the future. The place is pretty small, but that was a non-issue because I had no plans to eat on site.

We stopped in on a Saturday to order a basic cake and Renee came out to talk to us. She told us that they were booked for the Saturday (2 weeks away) in question - which was fine. Then she asked what I was looking for and told us that she could only take the order if I spent at least $150 and also followed up with the comment "I don't mean to sound rude" Sorry Renee that was rude and a horrible business move from a small business owner! If you are booked, you are booked. No big deal. But don't dangle a price tag over someone's head who has frequented your shop since you opened. Your creations may be wonderful, but that is only one part of a successful business model.
I am so sad I didn't know about this place before now! I had always wished that there was a wonderful little dessert place near me and am so happy there is! I took my 2 sons today and we got a sampling of some of the items. The red velvet cupcake was delicious, not chemically like some and the cream cheese frosting was amazing! I also tried the Napoleon and really really wish I had bought another one. The only thing I didn't care that much for was the cream puff, it wasn't sweet enough for me :) This place could be dangerous for me, I'm glad that they are not too close to my house and that they close at 6 or I would be there way too much!
Macaroons have been haunting me for weeks. I originally saw a picture of some on Facebook from a blogger I follow, but they were all the way in downtown Chicago. Then they started advertising them around Valentine's Day on Sirius XM. One of those, give us $100 and we'll send you a box of them. I felt like it was sort of my dessert destiny to try one of these things, so I searched for them and actually found that Dessert Menu was the closest macaroon shop that wouldn't require braving the traffic of Chicago. It only took one day off of work, sitting around with nothing to do to decide that I would make the drive and finally fulfill my destiny. I ordered a Key Lime tart ($4) and a box of assorted macaroons ($1 each). The Key Lime tart tasted exactly like a mini- key lime pie. The crust was flaky, the custard had the perfect amount of lime, and the whipped cream on top gave it the perfect final touch. The macaroons were also just as delicious. The cherry ones were my favorite but they were all really good. I liked how the shell was crunchy but the middle of it was soft and light. It's safe to say I'm now a macaroon addict! The customer service was also really great. It's always nice to feel appreciated at a business and the girl at the counter did a great job of making me feel welcomed. Dessert Menu had tons and tons of desserts that all looked equally phenomenal and it wasn't easy to decide. I know I'll be coming back within the next few weeks to try a few more desserts: I'm hooked!

For being in a bowling alley the pizza is actually very good. Better than your regular chain pizzas but obviously not to the higher end tastes of others in the area. If you can stomach the awful staff of the bowling alley and want a quick affordable tasty semi greasy pie this is for you.

The food here keeps getting better and better. The chorizo and eggs are fantastic. Be sure to try the homemade black beans in place of retried beans, you won't be disappointed.
Nice little spot to grab a few tacos and some good salsa. I always get the spicy salsa with three steak tacos. The guacamole isn't my favorite, so it's up to you to try. Just a bit too bland for me. The burrito is also very good. My cousin has told me that the chimichanga leaves something to be desired, so I have to give this place 4 stars. Great service and decent chips that are made in store.
Came here for a late lunch. Place was small. Kind of felt like you were in someone's house. Service was good. Salsa was good. I ordered carne asada and it was a tad salty and over cooked. My wife had chicken fajitas and it was good. Would come here again, but will skip the carne asada.

I have tried and tried and tried to like this place....seeing that I said tried 3 times means Texas roadhouse has struck out...1st I enjoyed the bread and butter however my green beans and country fried steak with gravy was extremely SALTY! Like high blood pressure salty The second time they couldn't get my steak was chewy and my drinks were watered down. Geesh. But the 3rd time made me say to hell with this place. Now I tried my best to deter my husband not to go here but nooo he wanted to give it a try. He had been warned but said because the lot was packed it couldn't be bad. Yeah ok hubby.. so things were coming along smoothly because we were just eating the bread and butter...lol but when his mash potatoes came there was a big ball of black crap in them...ewww...eeek...so we complained and they offered a free mash and a free meal but after just looking at that our appetites were ruined....now it could have been the bottom of the pot that they scraped and potatoes burned but we were not taking any chances. Needless to say I did say I told you so to my husband...lol Like I said the bread and butter is good but you can get that in jail
Just had a great time at Texas Roadhouse. It reminded me of a simple sports bar. The food was great along with the service the staff friendly and courteous. Some of the best steaks around. I can't wait ti return and try the ribs!
Love, love, love the food here. The fresh baked bread with cinnamon butter is delicious and the Prime Rib is the absolute best. Our server, Billy was awesome. Can't wait to go back!

Tacos & Burritos Rancho Grande

714 Joliet St

Reviews:
Tacos and Burritos has been my go to Mexican place for years. The workers know us and are always friendly. The steak tastes great and is much better than nearby competitors (cough cough El Amigo). I have no complaints and will continue to be frequent customer. I highly recommend it as a quick stop for Mexican food craving.
Came here expecting authentic Mexican food, but left with a disappointed belly and shattered hopes. Steak burrito was a little on the small side in comparison to other places (Burrito Station, El Burrito Loco). It was sub-par: they loaded the sour cream, the tortilla left a puddle of oil from the meat when I bit into it, and no rice inside. Also, no complementary chips and salsa here, although they do have rojo and salsa verde in squirt bottles on the table. Ordered 2 pork tamales to go (since they ran out of Barbacoa) and they were very small. The pork was good, few chunks dispersed throughout, but the 2 were slim enough to make 1 tamale! They also had a chest fridge near the counter that contained fruit Popsicles, but one could tell they have been sitting there awhile. The pros, on the other hand, is that it's next to a Speedway where you can gas up for cheap, and it really is clean inside of the restaurant. Bathrooms are presentable as well. Service was on point and friendly. I would give this place another chance if I were to get gas there, but might opt for another Mex place in the area.
Food is mediocre at best--except for the chips and pico which are my favorite around. Unfortunately, the other stuff just isn't very good. In addition, the real reason behind my giving them such a low rating is the fact that they close before their hours indicate and have done so multiple times. I showed up at 11:15 to this place, which supposedly closes at midnight only to see the doors locked and chairs up on the tables. When I knocked because they were inside cleaning, the man gestured they were closed by shaking his hand no and pointing to his watch (which should have been reset if it showed him midnight a full 45 minutes before). Honestly, the food and service are typically around a 3.5 to maybe even 4, but this was such an agitating experience that I'd rather not go back and simply make the drive to another nearby Mexican restaurant.

We just moved from the city and were worried about finding a new thai place. So glad we stumbled across this one! I like that they use quality ingredients (angus beef, antibiotic free chicken, etc) We got take out and it was great! We got the crab wontons, pad thai, and peapods and chicken. All were great. I noticed the prices were a bit high, but that is because the portions are huge, so my husband and I split a pad thai. Cheaper than the city! :)
Never have been disappointed every visit of a order for carry out or dining in. Excellent !!!!
Maybe I am unique, but my experiences here have always been good. Although the calamari leaves something to be desired and the lobster ragoons and egg rolls weren't the greatest, the governor's chicken and Singapore street noodles were some of the best I have ever had. In addition, the portions are enormous. As such, yes, the price is a bit higher, but it is easily worth it.

I absolutely LOVE this Starbucks! They always remember their customers when they come in. And the staff is extremely friendly and willing to go the extra mile for you to leave with a smile on your face. I'll always continue to keep coming here.
Very disappointed. My first time here. Girl taking my order screwed it up. Had to tell her 4 times. Barista screwed up my order by leaving out the soy milk! No apologies or even a 'thank you'. Poor customer service. Staff needs to be retrained or replaced!
It's Starbucks and this one is no different than any other. The drive thru is slow, however it has improved recently.
