Excellent coffee and loose tea choices....all coffee is organic. We had coffee and tea drinkers so good choices for all. The espresso drinks were great without a nasty amount of sugar. One in our group had a smoothie and was impressed it was no sugar added-just fruit. Will definitely return to spend time on the patio.

Worst coffee I've had in Carmel. And that was after the broken egg cafe. I went in on Saturday, the 20th, at 10 am, after going to the farmers market with my husband. He stood outside with our dog while I went in to get us frappucinos. I get inside, and place my order with Lindsey. Lindsey, with denim overalls, a fedora, and disturbingly greasy hair, proceeded to try and put my order into the system multiple times, finally getting it in after two failed attempts. She then proceeded to deliver someone else's food, which k thought meant she was multitasking. I was proved wrong however, when she and the other two girls working the counter began to stand around while one made iced tea FOR THEMSELVES, and talk about how lucky they were that they had a slow morning. I stood around, looking at trinkets, and tacky "art" that was ridiculously overpriced, until finally, i guess I look annoyed enough that miss overalls finally starts making my drinks. When we finally get them out, I'm annoyed to find that the price I would pay for two ventis at Starbucks equals two grandes here. It doesn't help that the lid was not put on properly on my husbands, and as soon as he started drinking, some fell onto his shirt. It was also irritating to realize that his salted caramel frozen coffee tasted nothing like caramel, and simply like crushed frozen milk. My mocha, well, I'm still picking the stale chocolate chunks out of my teeth. Best use your car and go to the Starbucks at the Kroger down the street. At least they can keep their hair clean.

I've generally been very happy with Soho. Great menu, every coffee I've tried has been wonderful, and the service is friendly and helpful. I would just make a suggestion that the lounge area strive for a "warmer" atmosphere. The artwork is a nice touch, but there is still a great deal of potential to dress up the space. Enlist some of the local talent and make this spot shine!

Stayed in the area with my husband while on a trip up north. Their cold brew was weak and so was the service. We got our cold brew after we got our breakfast, but 10 people got their lattes before us. Breakfast sandwiches were pretty good but would have been better if the bread were toasted. Layout of the bar and seating was weird and we didn't know if we should wait for our food or sit down in the other room or what. Don't ever see a point in coming back here.

I always wonder if a coffee shop is on its way out when they start closing before their posted time. This is a sure way to lose customers who cannot count on your posted hours. I'd suggest just changing your hours to shorter times instead of disappointing and teaching customers that you're unreliable. There are things I really like about this shop, but I cannot be loyal to a place that I cannot count on.

My WiFi at home went down and my preference is to support local instead of chain, so off I ran to SoHo. Glad I did. The Sweetheart latte I had was THE best I'd ever had and they kindly obliged (once lunch rolled around) by making the sandwich I ordered a wrap instead. And it was really good too. Lots of artists painting while I was working. Great vibe.

Being the coffee crazed addict that I am, i delight at trying out coffee shops around the city and testing the waters with creative concoctions at each establishment. Thought I am not usually in Carmel, I have found myself being called up there more frequently of late for business and desperately needed a coffee hangout. I have happily found it! The atmosphere here is of peppy, local artsy fun. Decorating the walls and amid the cushy chairs are displayed pieces created by artistic Hoosiers from the area. It makes for not only a tasty haven for the palate, but also the eyes! My personal favorite? Soho has managed to create an absolutely deadly little bombshell called the almond joy latte. Yep, I said almond joy as in the candy! A mixture of coconut oil, almond extract, dark chocolate, and espresso, this little baby is shear bliss on your tongue! The staff has always been incredibly gracious and helpful on each of my visits and is quick to update me on their latest specials. I am most definitely a fan!

Excellent flat white coffee just like home (New Zealand). Also a fantastic healthy and delicious salad. Topped by friendly staff. The complete package.

This is my new go-to coffee shop. It's got a cute little entrance along the Monon. I found it while wondering north from the Farmer's Market one Saturday morning. I was low on caffeine and this place did not disappoint. I've been back a few times since and the coffee is sufficient. To be honest, on coffee alone, I'd have given in a 4 star, but the ambiance more than overcomes the un-specialness of the brew. It's totally fine, don't get me wrong, just not amazing. But, the general feel of the place is super fun and the people are all very nice. The "front" room is pretty small but there is a huge space in the "back" with unique art. I have to put quotes around front vs back because I always enter from the Monon. If you enter from the parking area there's a long funny hallway to walk down to get to the "front" room. This is a great space to meet with friends or get some work done.

I've lived in downtown Indy since I moved to central Indiana in 2008. I found a couple of great coffee shops downtown that I have really loved frequenting. One being Calvin Fletcher's. Since I have moved to the North side of Indy I have been searching for a decent coffee house and this is it. I ate the Cuban sandwich and had a blended mocha. I'm a huge Cuban sandwich person and wish that it would have had a ground mustard instead of a yellow mustard but it was still good. Are there other options for sides other than chips? Ambiance is great. Nice and quiet patrons that are respectful. Employees were nice but when I said it was my first time here they said welcome and that was all. A brief description of "different" layout would have been appreciated. And "we will bring everything out to you" also would have been appreciated. Outdoor seating is a huge plus! Quality product, friendly staff, nice atmosphere, and free wifi. I will be back!!!

One absolute I've learned from Yelp (and sites of its ilk) is that places with such mixed reviews should be heeded. These places don't usually earn the benefit of the doubt. Soho gets the doubt, in this case. It's well-earned. The service is rude and atrocious. The staff is angry teens and 20-somethings. They act entitled and irritated when having to do any work. I'm not sure they even know how to perform a day's work, because they certainly dislike their jobs. They have a quiet room in which customers are (supposedly) welcome to sit, yet the staff will give you dirty looks while they are bored if they see you in there, and make rude comments when you try to study peacefully. The owner is nice, but she doesn't influence the staff's awful attitude. I used to be a regular patron, but I refuse to enter the establishment ever again, especially after the poor way I've been treated and the awful and negative attitudes. I've encountered. I was surprised to see their high rating after delving into the reviews. This has been going on at least since 2012, according to this site's members. So again, beware of places with mixed reviews. I would tend to beloeve the worst of them. They are the honest ones. The glowing reviews are probably fakes! Stay away from here if you value good service/food and decent treatment!

Egg and havarti sandwich on a cold untoasted English muffin is not acceptable. Really? Not allowed to toast the muffin??

This place is the perfect pit stop for Monon Trail regulars. They serve great pour-over coffee, have bike parking, and provide ample outdoor seating. Support your local independent coffee shops!

I went to SoHo Cafe last week in search of a change of pace from Starbucks. The staff were friendly and patient, and I like that they bring your order to you. I had a Fireside Latte (cinnamon and caramel, if I remember correctly) and a cheddar & apple butter panini. The latte was mild but good (nice presentation too - loved the big white mug!), and the sandwich was excellent. The bread had plenty of seeds, which was a delicious change for a panini. My couch was comfortable, but something about the layout of the room kept it from feeling really cozy. Next time I'd like to grab a seat by the fireplace! I also saw a bookshelf stacked with board games on my way out, so I would probably plan to bring a friend when I went back.

Great place to meet, chill & just relax. Wonderful atmosphere with amazing coffee...and even more amazing staff to help & assist. A must stop for the coffee snob to the coffee rookie.

First time here the other day for lunch, and the "pick two" essentially: curry chicken salad and pumpkin swiss soup. The curry chicken salad was certainly one of the best I've had.

Nice place. Only got coffee this time (french press). Food selection looked good. Plenty of space to work. Probably not bad for a small group meeting. Outdoor seating area next to the Mono is a bonus. Lots of parking.

Nice gallery/coffee shop in the carmel arts district. I was there with a group of friends for a food truck event that they were having and thought the staff was friendly and the options were plenty for coffee lovers. They had an open mike night and it was cute i guess. they had a few performers do music, dance, poetry etc. Overall, a small establishment that can also serve as an environment where you can work if you do have the work from home kind of job. They have a patio and several craft beers in bottles. Always enjoyed these places in and around indy

  • C A.

I used to really love this place. The coffee and espresso drinks were awesome and the service was friendly and helpful. I'm not sure if they are focusing more on alcohol sales or what, but the past two times for coffee after the Carmel Farmers Market have been awful - to the point where my not-picky-at-all husband was really annoyed at the lack of organization and completely cluelessness of the employees. My mocha this weekend was on par with McDonald's, but the price certainly was not in line. Hubbard and Cravens across the street will be the new stomping grounds when wanting coffee in Carmel. The H&C in BR is better, but Soho has fallen so far in quality that we will not be back.

Excellent coffee...lousy service. A few weeks back I ordered a vacuum/siphon brewed coffee and sat down for a meeting. After 10 minutes an employee approached and said "Sorry for the delay we are working on an issue." Another 10 minutes go by and they bring me a cup of their brew of the day. Could have brought me something to eat but oh well. 15 more minutes go by and another apology. Finally! After waiting a grand total of 50 minutes they bring out the coffee... right at the end of the meeting. But this isn't all! Today I ordered a pour over coffee and sat down for a meeting. After 20 minutes, nothing. So I walk up to the counter and they tell me it's not ready (come on people I have a pour over at home and it takes roughly 5 minutes). 10 more minutes, 30 total, they bring me my coffee. So, lesson learned. IF you want fast coffee just get the brew of the day, it doesn't taste as good, it is cheaper, and you won't have to wait more than 5 minutes.

If I worked from home, I would move in and make this my office. The coffee shop is differently laid out. Don't get scared off that you have to walk down a long hallway before you actually hit the coffee shop. I love a good French press and they let you choose everything from the grind, beans, and length of time steeped. The chairs and were very comfortable and unlike some over commercialized coffee shop that have terribly slow internet connection SoHo's connection was strong. Loved the shop and would love to grab some ice-cream in the summer. Great location right on the Monon as well.

I just found out you can't use the Yelp coupons now if you want your membership points. Not sure I'm a fan of that policy when most other coffee shops allow both.

  • Scott N.

There are very few independent coffee shops on the Monon, and I have to say that SoHo is about on par with most average coffee shops. In terms of decor and location, it really can't be beat. There isn't much better than jumping just of the trail to drink coffee with great art. However, the drinks are average, with generally weak and expensive coffee and espresso drinks that are way too sweet. I usually go for the location and the company of friends, not the drinks themselves.

  • Aninda S.

At least now they ask whether one wants a cup or mug. The cuppa is pretty good though a shade behind milktooth. Please avoid the super dry and somewhat weird textured raspberry scone. As usual the atmosphere is awesome, lots of space and great for an evening meet up with friends.

It's simple. It's a cool coffee shop that makes anything starbucks can but a little bit better. It's got great local flair and an awesome patio that will be great when it's not covered in 7 inches of snow. Lots of room to sit and hang out while drinking your drink and great for groups. If you are a coffee snob and obsess over the gadgets and the temperature of brewing and the time etc. then you may be okay here. If starbucks is a C grade, this place gets a B+ Good drinks and normal prices, in a convenient location with great staff.

Top Five Reasons Why You Should Check Out SoHo Cafe & Gallery: (01) It's right on the Monon Trail. (02) SoHo brews coffee from quality purveyors such as Liberation Roasting and Counter Culture Coffee. (03) The space is HUGE both indoors and outdoors (Psst: there is another room behind the counter for additional seating.) (04) In addition to coffee and hand-crafted beverages, you can purchase baked goods from Rene's, cake balls from Faith's Cake Ball Factory, ice cream from LICK, and gelato from Palazzolo's (a company from West Michigan). (05) Not only can you get your caffeine fix, but also you can browse and/or purchase artwork and goods for sale from local artisans throughout the shop. In short, SoHo Cafe and Gallery is the spot where you can eat, drink, and shop!

This spot has a really great vibe. I wasn't sure how snooty it'd be considering it's a fancy coffee shop in Carmel... but it wasn't snooty at all! The baristas are all really nice, and their espresso skills are on point. My favorite so far is the dark chocolate mocha. Ohh yahhh. It was tasty. Stop by if you need a fix but don't wanna go to Starbucks. It's an awesome surprise for Hamilton County.

Feels like we are back in San Francisco. Nice vibe to this little gallery and cafe. Eclectic furniture, board games laying around if you get bored, and art on the wall for sale give this place a nice feel that I didn't expect to find in the Midwest. Great place to hang out and relax on a rainy day. The coffee is good, and so is the menu, which includes pastries (from Rene's Bakery!) and sandwiches. I had a curry chicken salad sandwich, which was very good, and my wife had oatmeal, which apparently was good too. The staff is friendly and laid back, complementing the vibe of the cafe. This is the kind of place grad students in my day would hang out at all day, pretending to work on their thesis and kicking back.

I first stopped here last summer during a bike ride on the Mono Trail. The location has a couple of unique and potentially spectacular features and a lot to like. It's: + on the Monon and has outdoor Adirondack seating + in Carmel about a stone's throw from the getting-hipper-by-the-day downtown (picture huge public works, a second-to-none music auditorium, art galleries, etc.) + roomy with a cafe side and an art gallery side - see picture + serving coffee, tea and wine :) + two sided: 1 the cafe side and 2 the art gallery (local artists - nice) side with lots of open space + got good ambient tunes not overpowering. Friendly staff too. I feel like the location is still finding its groove a bit and this will improve. I desperately want this place to survive. It has the potential of becoming the premier internet cafe in Indy. However in order for this to happen, one thing must be done and done soon - WIRE THE ART SIDE WITH MANY, MANY ELECTRICAL OUTLETS. This is your key to success SoHo - serious about this. Do this, and my review goes automatic 5 stars.

After having driven about 10 miles three times in a row for SoHo, I can say it's definitely a five-star establishment. Any coffee place that has almond milk gets bonus points from me, so when they told me they could make me an almond milk latte I started falling in love immediately. I have spent several afternoons at SoHo meeting friends or studying and the space is quiet during the day, several outlets along the walls, and nice outdoor seating. The artwork inside the main seating area is a nice touch of ambiance. One night that I was there I started seeing multiple people carrying guitars in. Apparently it was an open mic night. I only got to catch the first one, an overweight balding guy in his 50s. He was phenomenal. Make SoHo a regular stop on your cafe circuit. You won't be sorry.

Lets just say I have been in all sorts of Cafes all over the world, and SoHO, well SoHO is one of them. SoHo has a truly groovy vibe. Surrounded by Art, sipping some of the best coffee available in Carmel is a great experience. I am pretty sure my espresso featured art based on the venerable trilobite and not a fancy monkey face, but I am not complaining. Go to SoHo today, or your friends will think less of you. Cheers!

  • Adam B.

Great coffee, are really nice. I love that it's right off the Monon Trail, just a short walk or bike ride from the heart of the Carmel Art & Design District. The reason I give this 4 stars instead if 5 is the vibe. Very knick-knacky and grandma-ish. If vibe isn't your number one concern, or if you're just looking for coffee to go, check this place out. I recommend the siphon-brewed coffee.

I had been wanting to go to SoHo Cafe and Gallery for quite a long time, and my expectations have more or less been met. It was typical cafe fare overall. The restaurant itself was sort of cluttered. The "gallery" itself was just an culmination of some gorgeous abstracts and landscapes and quite frankly arresting paintings of terrifying children. The wait staff seemed bored and only attentive enough to serve us (barely). The food was pretty good, but the plating was grotesque. My companion's egg and cheese croissant came on a plastic plate with a lone orange while my apple butter and cheese panini was also on a tacky plastic square. My panini had little to no cheese that was glued on to the bread, making it essentially a glorified jam sandwich. The bread on the panini was some kind of delicious grain bread and the apple butter with pecans was smooth and warm. The chips it came with were pretty good (greasy and light). My latte was way too sugary and bland, despite it being toted as a special with white chocolate and brown sugar. My partner's croissant sandwich was pretty average. Overall, it was okay, but I won't be going back anytime soon unless I'm in the mood for some glorified breakfast sandwiches and terribly boring lattes.

What a relief to find an independently owned shop in the white wash of chain shops. Staff is courteous and professional, drinks are consistent and tasty, food is above average and worth the wait. The gallery is large and comfortable, this joint also sports a separate study room for closed meetings or some quite time. There's a great patio that leads to the Monon with occasional musical guests in the summer.

  • Zs B.

Soho is one of those independently owned little art coffee shops I really hope will make it...I will certainly do my part to come back and support them. The coffee (cappuccino) was wonderful, and we tried the cake things - the pistachio one was great, it tasted like marzipan. If you are in Carmel looking for a Starbucks alternative, it's definitely the place to go.

  • Michael G.

Forget Starbucks! I was instantly a fan of SoHo. The caramel latte I had was well crafted, and the barista was friendly and relaxed. I love the atmosphere of the place, and the gallery/cafe concept is intriguing. So happy that there's FINALLY a locally owned coffee shop in Carmel. I also appreciate their commitment to greener operations: The barista asks if the drink order is "for here or to go" so they can reduce landfill impact. I always forget to get a "for here" cup at Starbucks, so the reminder was great. And if you are on the go, their disposable cups, lids, and sleeves are compostable and made from 100% post consumer fibers. The staff mentioned they were searching for a better location (they're currently located off of the Monon in the old Mohawk shopping center). Hopefully they will move somewhere with more exposure, such as Main St. or the new City Center. Either way, I want this place to stick around! Other perks include evening poetry readings, live music, and gallery viewings throughout the month.

Went there for a lunch date about a week ago and enjoyed a generous and delicious curried chicken salad on a croissant with a tiny portion of BBQ and regular chips. Another date today. Tiny amount of chicken salad. One tiny portion of BBQ chips, one tiny portion of regular chips. Apparently the portion control freaks have taken over. For $7.50, a niggling smear of chicken salad and a few chips seems a bit light. $4 for a beer, too. What happened? Will not go back. One more eatery succumbs to the short-term bottom line. Sad.

While biking on the Monon, I stopped for a drink. I asked the server about iced tea, and received a generic 'We have X flavors.' Any further information concerning the tea itself was meant with bland indifference bordering on hostility that I didn't just stop asking simple questions. I could understand that were the place buzzing with activity, but this was two in the afternoon and I was the only customer at the moment. The tea was perfectly adequate (...and earning at least the second star), but the service was atrocious. I honestly felt as if I were intruding. I will not return. There are plenty of alternatives on the Monon for refreshment, and I'll definitely look to those from now on.

I have been looking for a small town coffee shop that breaks the mold of the traditional Starbucks! This is the perfect little coffee shop set back off the main road that you wouldn't expect. My wife and I discovered it biking on the Monon! It's the perfect little cafe to stop at for mid morning snack. The art culture is has strong as the coffee they brew. Great selection of teas and small organic snacks! The buffalo jerky is wonderful! They are stocked full of fun merchandise. They also have brilliant coffee creations! They recently drew a ghost in a latte's foam for Halloween! Small sandwiches and soups are available for lunch as well! I direct all my guests here!

Come for the coffee, stay for the company. This place has easily turned into my crackhouse - it is a gateway drug of sorts, sucking you in and convincing you of the wonders of locally-owned cafes with its delicious devil magic. It's not just the coffee or my own caffeine addiction that keeps me returning, their baristas are some of the best people in the world. If things are hectic, cut them a break - they give a damn about what you're drinking, and the coffee you get as a result is worth the wait. The food is hit or miss at times, as they bring it in from local businesses, but the drinks are almost always spot-on. Come in between meal times for a calm, peaceful atmosphere where you can read or do work in relative quietude or check out some of their weekly events such as an open mic night on Thursdays (a classier version of a local dive's karaoke - Actual music! Actual singing!) or their movie nights on Friday.

Ever sitting in your office cube and thinking to yourself, "If I don't get out of here in the next 5 minutes, I might punch someone in the face?" I am very lucky to say that Soho is my escape in these moments. Great spot with free wi-fi (look for the wireless password on your receipt), relaxing atmosphere, and quick bites. They have a small menu which changes daily including some soups and salads (with veg options) and then a spread of bagels, pastries, and the like. I've tried the smoothies, which are okay-ish. What's really great is the coffee! They use one of the top independent growers in the country (Conscious Coffee). More than a couple times I've been there they were out of coffee (?), so I'm thinking that the staff needs to find the routines and methods that work best for them since they are pretty new and just getting into the swing of things. Accessible from the Monon as well with outdoor seating which is a nice touch. Check in on your smartphones - Mayors (and hopefully Dukes/Duchesses from Yelp's app if you are reading this SoHo!!) can get $1.00 coffee!

Welcome to Carmel SOHO. So happy to have a great place like this in town. Fair trade coffee, organic milk, take away coffee cups are made from recycled products AND the coffee tastes good. Also, the prices are pretty reasonable. They are less expensive than the chain coffee shops. Not to mention, the location is very nice and there is beautiful artwork to view while drinking your coffee or while waiting to obtain your to go coffee. .The artwork is for sale, so you could even buy art. I'm sure they'd be happy to sell it. I didn't happen to be in the market for art to go with my coffee today. They also appear to have some delectable looking dessert options, but I am going to have to wait until after the holidays to partake of those. Additionally, the service was very friendly.

The first time I went they had just opened and had only been open for a few days. My service was SLOW unfriendly and cold, however the coffee was good. I decided I could find friendlier places for coffee. This morning I was driving by and decided to stop in since I've heard other people really had enjoyed their experience ( maybe it was a fluke bad first week experience) so I went in. AGAIN! No "good morning" but I certainly was greeted and with the rudest of looks which clearly sub-titled would read "what do YOU want?" No smiles, no greeting, just a "wha do ya want?" Out of a bad diner film. Again- good coffee... But NOT WORTH IT!!!

My girlfriend and I were looking for an independent, non-chain place to eat lunch. We had a recommendation for this place from a friend, so we though we would try it out. My girlfriend ordered simply a bagel and water and I ordered a sandwich and a coke. After waiting ~15 minutes I went to see what was taking so long with our order. Apparently there was a large group in another room who had quite the order to prepare, so our order was lost in the cracks. The cook apologized and quickly toasted a bagel for my girlfriend. My girlfriend, being polite, refused to eat her bagel until I had something to eat. It wasn't until a few more moments passed that someone finally, unceremoniously brought out my sandwich. By that time her bagel was cold. I had yet to receive my can of coke I ordered, so I went to the counter to ask for it. By this time the staff knew me by face. I was greeted by a teenage girl whose body language said, "What do you want NOW?" This was the final straw for me. We finished out meal and left. I wouldn't have bothered to write a review if that teenage girl hadn't given me such attitude about something that wasn't my fault. I won't be back soon. So, to sum up my experience: - Long wait for food (hey, it happens) - Apathetic wait staff (I don't really care, as long as the food is good) - Rude snotty teenage employees (I don't know why this rubs me the wrong way in SUCH a wrong way)

I have enjoyed the coffee at Soho several times. I find the staff to be very friendly and the atmosphere to be very nice, too. I hope that when warmer temps arrive the place is hopping with people from the nearby Monon Trail. With all of the good things having been said, I do hope that Soho improves on two items. First, I have found very little consistency in the product. On my 5 visits, I have had 3 perfectly sweet mochas and 2 almost bitter mochas. Second, the service times could be improved. On one visit, it took nearly 20 minutes for my wife and I to get our coffees and there was only one person who ordered ahead of us. Overall, I have enjoyed my experiences at Soho and I hope that they will be able to thrive in their location. Best of luck!!

Only good things to say about SoHo. Great service, and delicious cake bites. They workers are always friendly, and help out in deciding on one of their many delightful options. And just to clear up a post I had read from earlier, Megan C. Must have not noticed the entire room full of tables on the other side of the establishment. Great place for a lunch or snack with friends or a quick stop off the monon. I would definitely recommend trying this place out if you haven't yet, it is worth the trip.

My husband and I love this place! We frequent it several times a week. Atmosphere is very cool and comfortable. They are now serving beer and wine and have outdoor seating on the Monon for the summer! Definitely a great addition to Carmel. Welcome!

I expected more after reading such good reviews. The set-up is great for coffee drinkers, but not great for those looking to eat lunch. There's one small table, or else you're balancing plates on your lap. The menu in the restaurant doesn't match what's available online, plus they were out of the sandwiches we wanted to order. Our meals were OK, but definitely nothing that would bring us back. I'll stick with Bazbeaux for a great, affordable lunch in downtown Carmel.

It's the perfect place for a meeting with a client or a friend. I was there last Thursday night with a group of friends for their "open mike night". I ordered decaf, they ground the beans fresh and brewed my cup of coffee while I waited. It was truly the best cup of decaf I've ever had. I've also had their Cafe Au Lait, herbivore sandwich, and an orange scone- all were great. I love the artwork for sale and the prices are very reasonable.

Came to SoHo for Monday night jazz and was pleasantly surprised. Fell in love with the chicken salad and the strawberry/banana fruit smoothie's daughter enjoyed their gelato as well as cheesecake balls. Some of these jazz kids are AMAZING. Thursday night open mic is pretty entertaining too. Great place to go for great atmosphere and nice entertainment.

Nice place. Only got coffee this time (french press). Food selection looked good. Plenty of space to work. Probably not bad for a small group meeting. Outdoor seating area next to the Mono is a bonus. Lots of parking.

Cheers!

This little gem of a coffee shop is located in Carmel just south of the new City Center off the Monon. You'll find unique art and decor from local artists and great pastries and treats from local shops. But first and foremost, as with any coffee shop, we must ask, how is the coffee? Fortunately this cafe decided to compliment it's cool decor with great coffee from Conscious Coffee, a micro-roaster in Colorado that was named the 2011 Roaster of the Year by ROAST magazine. Grab a cup of coffee in one of their colorful ceramic mugs, find a comfortable seat and enjoy this new cafe in Carmel that is sure to become a great hang-out place for people in the area.

Update Dec 2011: Stopped here for lunch, the food is FANTASTIC!! Had the turkey avacado sandwich and the chicken noodle soup. Both were top notch with fast service and great atmosphere. Getting to this place from the east might be a little tricky, so my advice is to WALK or BIKE here. There is an entrance right off of the Monon just north of City Center Drive, takes you right in. The gallery is worth the stop, they have lots and lots of room to sit and enjoy their coffee and other food.. stuff. Wifi password is on your receipt so if you are "surfing" be sure to buy SOMETHING !!

This cafe and art gallery is unique. They have different events scheduled like (free) old movie on Sat. nights. They sell ice cream, pastries, and of course lots of drinks. Also, they have art to sell. I think it is definitely a hospitable, generous place. Check out the restroom while you are there.

If I could live in a cafe, this is where I'd move in. Great coffee, breakfast options, salads, sandwiches, wine and craft beers. Since I can't drag my mattress into a corner of SoHo's room of local art, at least I can hang out here every day of the week. Short, paved walk on the Monon Trail south from Main Street or north from City Center. Sandwich board on the trail announces specials, brightly painted bicycles on the fence announce this place has the art flair that a Starbucks lacks. From the road, it might seem like SoHo's hiding right out in the open... don't pass up that unassuming Mohawk Shopping Center parking lot. SoHo is in the northwest corner & there's loads of parking. Strawberry Feta Spinach Salad gets a nice crunch from slivered almonds. This is THE place to get an excellent Curry Chicken Salad on croissant. Just a touch of mango chutney and raisins add flavor. Egg salad's a winner, too. Looking forward to trying the Herbivore next with cucumber, sprouts and more on focaccia. Palazzolo's brand gelatos and sorbets satisfy my sweet tooth. Perfect place to relax on the patio with some craft beers and SoHo's delicious Southwest Dip and tortilla chips. Crowd flexes with the days or special events: Monon joggers/cyclists, families on weekends, Jazz on Monday nights, Art/Craft & Book Clubs on Wednesdays, Open Mic on Thursday nights, Live Concerts on some Fridays and Saturdays. Plenty of table space in the gallery for studying or writing as you enjoy the menu's variety. Good range of local artist styles includes framed & unframed oils, watercolors, sketches, plus jewelry, table and wall sculptures.

Somewhat disappointed....heard such great things. Came for lunch, Slow service is an understatement. (Especially considering we were the only customers....) Turkey avocado was pretty delicious, however. My husband had veg wrap, he said it was very good. Might come back for coffee....

This has just about everything I would want in a coffee shop. The coffee's great, they offer an assortment of locally made pastries, it's on the Monon, right by downtown Carmel (though a bit of a walk, compared to some other cafes), and a really cool art gallery with local art. It's like several rooms put together, so there's lots of open space, and a different feel in each room. The room with the coffee bar is like a cozy living room, with a fireplace. The galleries are much more open and quiet. I really like this place, and I'll be sure to stop by every time I'm in Carmel.

Sad.

I've been to the SoHo several times. It's an above average experience every time, but they don't hit it out of the park. The pros: 1)Food is excellent 2)Ditto, the drinks 3)Location, location, location. The cons: 1)The service seems to be less than friendly. 2)Pretty long wait for a simply sandwich 3)How hard is it to get an order correct? I ordered EXTRA horseradish, so they gave me a sandwich with NO horseradish. But, they DID correct it. If I'm riding by and Thirsty or hungry, I'll stop in. But I'll not make a special trip.

I had a client consultation Saturday morning and wanted something different than the usual Starbucks. Happy I found this spot! It's a bit odd walking in, there are lots of small spaces to sit and hold meetings but I eventually found the counter. The selection of drinks is fabulous, hot, cold, smoothies (you can add protein!) and frozen coffees. I opted for a caramel macchiato, my fav. Initially I was a bit put off by the counter girl's attitude, but the coffee made up for it. Not scalding hot, a hint of sweet and more buzz then I get from Starbucks! If you stay to enjoy your beverage, they bring it out to you which took me a minute to figure out. As the name suggests, they also have a variety of artwork available to purchase. Will definitely be back, it proved a great place to meet clients and at a similar price point but with better coffee!

I am still a big fan of the coffee at Soho. I love it served in a real mug 10 minutes after it's ordered b/c they took their time to make the heart in my foam. I seriously DIG THAT!! I frequent Soho for so many reasons. Sometimes, I just need a place to hang out and get some work done. Sometimes, I am meeting friends -- it is perfect for that! They have free wi-fi which I truly love and appreciate. Sometimes, I get out of my car and go in JUST for a coffee to go. I really crave their roast beef sandwich too. Despite the overpriced cost, I love it! But within the last three months, I have received super lackluster service...like I'm annoying them. This usually occurs during my once a month networking meetings, which I have been doing there for a year. Once a month on a Wednesday to be exact. We always all order -- there are usually 4-12 women there and independently we have each had our own crappy experiences. Sometimes, it's totally fine and normal and others it is downright rude and dickish. Recently I was in there to confirm a reservation for our normal table that was made over two weeks ago, and of course, it was NOT in the system. I don't get it. We have in the past not made reservations and been told we "have" to ...then we try and it doesn't get put in the system. Somehow this is ALWAYS our fault. It is insanely annoying. We are going on Wednesday and I have yet to set a date for the September meeting b/c I am thinking that Soho doesn't want our business each month anymore. We shall see how it goes. I am hoping we can come up with some alternative local places that would work out better for us while still building up a cool local biz. Suggestions welcome for northside!

I used to like this place more. Came here to get some work done (was down here from Chicago for my sons surgery). Tried to work - wifi password on card near barista doesnt work. Fortunately i'd only paid $2 for a stupid pelegrino so i could use the wifi, it woud be nice if someone could take the time to update the card. I had a small window of time to get this work in and it really messed up my schedule. Thanks a lot. Many thanks also to people bringing in their kids screaming bloody murder to what should be a calming art gallery and letting them run wild like its a romper room. This is what i get for trying to support local indie coffee houses and local artists. Grr Next time need to do some work, i guess it will be corporate starbucks argh

I might as well write the review while I'm sitting here right? This is my third visit to SoHo in the past few months. I've recently made it my mission to pour more love on Carmel businesses and getting to know the ins and outs of this land of roundabouts. SoHo offers both eats and drinks including gelatto, Rene's Bakery sweets (yes, please), soups like Vegan Thai Lentil (eating now - yum) and corn sausage, creative coffee beverages, smoothies and so on. If you're looking to fly light on the syrups they offer sugar free options. As for Rene's, the ginger molasses cookie is always a treat! To start off, this place is HUGE! Between the patio overlooking the Monon and three rooms inside, there is probably enough seating for 60 - 75 people easily. I would also add that they offer large tables that are perfect for meetings and group projects. The only thing that I'm not head-over-heels in love with at Soho is the vibe/decor - there's nothing wrong with it - just not my taste. I'm a big fan of having as much natural light/window work spaces as possible. To close, this obviously isn't stopping me from returning ;)

Excellent coffee. Nice people. Good meeting spot. Hard to find, though, if you do not know the area. Use your GPS if going for the first time!

Right on/off the trail. Not a "chain", you can sit outside or inside. Love the FLAT WHITE coffee.

Great vibe.

Favorite coffee shop in town. Great selection of coffees and teas. Decent array of fruit smoothies. Quaint gift shop. Spacious chill lounge.

At least now they ask whether one wants a cup or mug. The cuppa is pretty good though a shade behind milktooth. Please avoid the super dry and somewhat weird textured raspberry scone. As usual the atmosphere is awesome, lots of space and great for an evening meet up with friends.
