My crew loves karaoke but won't be going back... sister and I were actually cut off by the DJ in midsong... here's the story: Husband and I scoped the place out weeks in advance of our group's big weekend visit to Carmel. Cheap prices on food and drink. Big servings of food we didn't want to finish. Nice staff, good DJ. Good mixed-age crowd not into the karaoke that night. Even the Mayor of Valparaiso was there with his entourage gearing up for some karaoke. So, we gave it a try the next week. Remember: great drink prices. Dragged the crew in sober. Needed drinks to endure a different DJ. A DJ who thought he was Slim Shady and rapped after every patron's turn, sometimes twice. He hogged the stage and led his 2 girl groupies with him to wiggle and swoon at his moves. Tragic. So Sis and I... did I mention she's a community theater actress who specializes in musicals? Sis and I get on stage singing spot-on... with altered lyrics and a dance routine. Nothing skanky. Just, well, making fun of the lyrics ol' Slim Wannabe had been singing. The regulars got the joke and were getting a good laugh. But Slim didn't like that and actually shut off the music into the third verse. The crowd was great, one guy chastised the DJ, but damage was done.... Nothing fancy, just dive bar without the dregs. There's smoking, but it's not so heavy non-smokers can't endure it for some good drinks. My crew loves karaoke, but we still haven't found what we're looking for...

Really fun dive bar. The karaoke is always a blast, the drinks are cheap, and the employees are friendly. You really can't go wrong here for a laid-back night out, especially with a group. They DO allow smoking though so be prepared.

A completely hidden-in-plain-sight bar with a diverse, friendly crowd of patrons. On a whim, we headed to poker night on a random Sunday...not only were the usuals extremely welcoming and laid back, but the beer selection was decent and we had a fun time. Yes, my feet were sticking to the thinly carpeted floor, and I felt like I could smell cigarette on my hair for the next 2 days, but it was still worth it. Bartenders were great. Didn't eat any food, but it looked good. You can tell that there are definitely some regulars which frequent this place, a pretty big crowd of different ages and backgrounds. Nippers - where America gathers! I don't know how often I'll be back, but it is right near where I work and an at times welcome change from the majority of the trendy, more expensive bars that are the norm in Carmel.

I've gotten used to the smoking ban in Indianapolis so I was surprised to see folks smoking in this Carmel area bar. Menu was kinda average to crappy. Nothing sounded appealing and I'm glad I had dinner before I went there. I've also gotten used to better bars in Indianapolis with much tastier menu options for foodies and more local and craft beers. We won't be going back because there are plenty of better options not too far from their. As a place to drink beer, smoke, and party with friends it probably would fit the bill, but not the scene I'm into.

Don't go here unless you want to leave smelling like a dirty ashtray. Absolutely horrible experience because of the smoke.

PLEASE!!!! Double check your credit card after going here! On my first and absolutely LAST time coming here, I gave the bartender a credit card to start a tab. After one pitcher, I cashed out using cash (a ten dollar bill). Four days later I also had a charge to my credit card!?! Honest mistake? Don't make me laugh! My $7.00 pitcher is now $14.00 since " I" generously added a $7.00 tip. Doesn't everyone tip 100%?? To the bar's credit, they did give me a copy of the receipt that showed I had magically signed it 2 hours after I left the bar. BTW, my new signature looks completely different than it has for the past 49 years. What are the Odds???

One of my favorite regular places to go. The staff are ultra friendly and so are the patrons. The feature a nightly poker tournament except on Fridays and Saturdays which are karaoke nights. The kitchen is full service and has pretty good food. I usually get their chicken wings because they are some of the meatiest in town. Drink and dinner specials are featured every night. One thing to mention, if you don't like smoking then don't go here because it gets very smokey when the place fills up with people. They also have several pool tables some video games and darts. Trivia is featured on Friday night which is a good chance to win some prizes.

As previously mentioned, I have lived in Carmel for over 3 years and unfortunately have driven past Nippers countless times without stopping. In a mild debate about where to go for a friend's 26th birthday celebration, we were coerced into trying Nippers via another friends passion for Dive Bars. An that my friends, is EXACTLY what it is! D-I-V-E! Although, I was extremely skeptical as we walked in the doors and were greeted by the smell of smoke and some of Indianapolis' *finest* people; I left at 1 am impressed. The drinks were extremely affordable, but not too cheap to make you wonder. The service was excellent! We had a team of two friendly men waiting on us the entire night, even as the bar became more and more busy. At one point, I think my friends started just putting their hands in the air, similar to that of a school aged child, and the bar tenders appeared in a jiffy! The DJ, was an interesting character to say the least, but was efficient at getting the crowd dancing and karaoke-ing! He played decent music, although too much country in my personal opinion! Needless to say, it was a great time, and I think our tab for 6 people was $100! And that included 6 rounds of shots! :) Go have yourself a $3.25 well drink and a fine time at Nippers!

Went there this last Monday night, for my 30 something b'day with a co-worker and his wife. HAD A BLAST! Beer, beer, pool, jager shot, beer, beer, jager bomb. For the non-smokers & smokers it was pretty decent. Even though Hamilton County is non-smoking they still allowed smoking and it didn't seem like it was a typical smokey bar. Tuesday night they have free pool and if you check out their website nippers2.com you can see their specials.

Holy dive dive dive bar. A couple of summers ago, I got massively smashed here and haven't been back. However, I decided to give it a shot recently when Erich and I just wanted to have a beer and appetizer in Carmel. First off - it is still f-ing smokey. YUCK. Smoke makes everything super dirty. You don't realize how NICE having a nonsmoking bar community is until you step into this hole. Once you get through the haze, order a beer and get your food, it's not like you can leave and go somewhere b/c you really are covered in smoke residue. The crowd is a little rundown (no real surprise) but that's not a huge deal. Everyone seemed nice enough, especially the woman who gave a man a little "treat" in the back room while we were having our meal. Speaking of food, I had the BLT which was fine. Definitely not healthy and a salad in this place really isn't fancy, since it comes out of a bag. Sorry - Nippers.....it is just not another go. YUCKO.

If you are looking for a good value for your drinking dollar this is the place to go! Service is really good, food is mediocre but they always play the music too loud and people play some strange stuff there. Anywhere from The wheels on the bus go round and round, Wizard of Oz to country to Techno.

Sing it Okay here we go: Yes Nippers is still a smoking bar Yes it is a crazy dive Yes there are some questionable patrons belting Celine Dion via karaoke Yes there are pool tables Yes there is friendly, quick service And yes it's awesome! Aside from the smoke (which is why I can't go higher than 3 stars) I was really diggin' the old RCA happy hour hotspot. Cheap strong drinks and bonus: Mozz sticks.

1 star for customer service our pool team comes in for first time and the manager gives us a hard time cause one of us wants to smoke a cigar it not a smoke free bar BTW says you can smoke on sign. After the night went on our team Captain tries to give feedback to the person in a friendly manner and the manager says nothing and walks away like practically saying fuck you. Pretty sure we won't be coming to nippers again.

It's a dive for sure. Very smoky. Karaoke night is hilarious for people watching, and you can get a bucket of beer for $12. If you're a SERIOUS karaoke person, you might want to skip this place---the DJ when I was there played videos in between every song performed, and sometimes sang himself. I didn't eat anything, but friends did and said it was typical, tasty, greasy bar food.

Best dive bar in Carmel - not sure the term dive bar and Carmel belong in the same sentence?! Staff is great, food is good, service is typically great - even on busy nights. If you are looking for pretentious assholes this isn't the place to go, if you are looking for a layed back good time then check it out!

Wanted to try this place, and won't be coming back. Went for dinner and drinks. We ordered a cheeseburger and salad. Seemed simple enough to me, but after an hour and a half I had to ask the waitress where the food was. She proceeded to tell us, our order was up next. I went back and waited and after 3 more tables (who ordered 10-15 min after us) food came out we payed for the drinks and left. Two hours for a burger and salad is ridiculous .

You could probably classify this as a "dive" bar, but the patrons & staff are friendly as anyone you'd ever meet & the food (pizza) is pretty good. Very typical smokey Indiana bar, but you can avoid the worst of it if you try. As usual, watch out for the Carmel cops.
