Bland food and below par service. Asked for more salsa 3 times and never received it. Cheese dip was watery and had no taste to it. Carne Asada, chorizo, and taco meat had no seasoning to them.

I've been to Cancun Mexican Restaurant several times because it is convenient. Their food is good and predictable and their prices are moderate. The best part about Cancun is that you can almost always find a coupon or discount somewhere. My favorite dish is their carne asada tacos.

I have eaten at Cancun on numerous occasions; though I have to question my OWN taste in this case. I cannot believe I go back ever- at all, but the last time we had it, two weeks ago, I was beyond offended. We ordered simple dishes, including chicken fajitas and beef CRUNCHY tacos. Both came out soggy, taste-less and absolutely disgusting. UNACCEPTABLE. In addition, our chips were two days old (I mean, obviously I don't KNOW this) and were so stale, my dog wouldn't eat that crap. I rarely hand out the 1 star, b/c ...well, I think it takes a LOT to irritate me that badly but what a waste of Mexican food! It's not that hard...so many other choices and so many BETTER options. Spend your money elsewhere.

This is a solid, go-to margaritas, beer, and Mexican food place. The daily drink and food specials are great, the prices are spot-on, and they pass the first test of eating out at a Mexican restaurant: spicy fresh salsa and warm chips! We always have good service, the food comes out fast, and the location is great with plenty of parking.

Cancun is one of those places I find myself at fairly often, although there's not one single thing I can say draws me back there....other than it's convenient. The food is good. Best Mexican in Indy/Carmel? No, probably not. The service is good....actually the service there is well above what I've come to expect from restaurants in the Indy area. The price is reasonable, and, as one reviewer noted, you do get a LOT of food for the money. It's not an over the top outstanding experience, but it IS good food and good service for a reasonable price, and for that reason, I'm a regular. :)

On my quest for the best Mexican this tops my list so far! Great chips and salsa! Margarita was a bit stale tasting. I got the carnitas! Very authentic and loved the beans! My husband got a combo and was pleased but wished he had gotten something more authentic! Parking a bit complicated but worth it! We will return Great specials Great Price Great service!

Cancun in Carmel is solid. I think I would probably give the food 3 stars, but I always get really good, friendly service when I go, so I bumped it up to 4 stars. Most of the menu items are fairly typical of what you would find in a fairly authentic Mexican (Tex-Mex) restaurant trying to appeal to American (particularly Midwestern Americans.) Portion sizes are generous (I usually get 2-3 meals out of one order of fajitas), and the prices are reasonable. The prices are really great if you order one of the daily specials. There are even daily specials on the weekend, which is nice.

The chips and salsa were hot and plentiful. Queso was a bit thin but tasted good. The enchiladas were good. Service was fast and friendly. However, the pitcher of strawberry margaritas was awful. The next table ordered a margarita that looked amazing. Frozen margaritas are one of those things that really can't be improved. But steer clear unless you like a syrupy, sweet, mess.

My favorite Mexican joint in Carmel. Prompt service. Good food. No worries. The Unknown Diner digs it.

The chipotle shrimp tacos are awesome. My son loves the wet burrito. The rice is great and the other items we have tried were pretty good. I tried the chile relleno last time and it needs help. The margaritas are insanely way too expensive though so I havent tried one. I will never pay $9 for a margarita! I give it 4 stars because the food ranges from average to great, but will keep me coming back! Probably the best place for mexican food in the Carmel area. The staff is very nice.

My Favorite one of this Chain. Out of all the Cancuns I have been to this one is my favorite. They aren't perfect but they are helpful, the food is delicious, the drinks are yummy, and the service is pretty decent. The reason they get only 3 stars and not 5: The silverware sometimes doesn't look clean and it's bent, I have been there once during normal business hours and they turned us away because there was no other customers and they wanted to go home early (we were there an full hour before they closed too, not like we came in 10 minutes before closing), and one time they were having some sort of staff birthday party and our waiter was more interested in the party than us -- in fact the entire staff was more interested in the party than anybody in the restaurant -- so I wonder why they didn't have the employee party after closing?? Anyways, I go about once a month and USUALLY the serve is fine, so don't this deter you. The food is always impeccable and made to order, I have NEVER had a mistake in my order, EVER!!! I have had most things on the menu and they are DELICIOUS, but my fave is the wet burrito, MMMMMM. The queso is amazing and the chips & salsa are always being refilled and always tastes yummy and fresh. Thumbs Up!!

I have eaten here twice. One time was about two years ago and the most recent was July 13 2012. Both times the food was okay, but not anything to get up and tell all your friends about. A major deal killer on this restaurant is that the dining room on both occasions was too warm. I thought the first time that the air conditioning must be broken. Which is forgivable in my book. But 2 years later it was the same. So I don't think it is broken air conditioning. The margaritas were tasty and refreshing. Based on the hot dining room I don't think we'll be going back anytime soon. There are others like El Jaripeo in Westfield.

I haven't been to this one for a long time. I remember it being much better. The best thing I ate was the salsa. Very good. The chips were cold, flavorless and had no salt. The sauces were decent, but the pork was over cooked. The service was horrible. We had to wave to the waiter several times to get drink refills. Not good when eating spicy food. The plates were never cleared and he disappeared when we needed the check. I won't be back.

This was the 1st true Tex Mex place around after I moved here from Texas in 1993. Oh we had Taco Bell ( the Mexican Telephone Co) and Che Che's, but no real deal Mexican place. As time moved on and more people from Mexico into the Indianapolis area more Mom and Pop joint opened. This is great if you love Mexican food (Tex Mex) and wanted the real thing! The food of Mexico if not all the same as here in the U.S., each regain of the country has it's own style. Some more sea food, some more beef, and some more pork or chicken. I like them all and Cancun does cover all. I have been to some of the new Cancun's as they seem to be opening all over the area. The problem is some are better then others, but this is the 1st and is still the best! Remember to eat well and live well! And please no chain's!

My coworkers picked up lunch from there today and I thought I would give it a try. I ordered the poblano pepper lunch special since it is one of my favorite dishes. Really who could mess up a pepper and cheese? Cancun can; I think it may have killed my love for the dish. It had the consistency of rubber and had no flavor at all. The chips tasted like cardboard and the rice like sand, I am glad the beans were there to mix in the rice so I could eat something.

This is one of our favorite lunk spots for us at Silver Square. It's down the road from our office, fast and inexpensive. The food is above average and they have the best veggie burrito in town...

We had not been there in awhile, always trying to find a better Mexican restaurant. Seems to be as good as the others around Carmel. Fajitas not bad at all, service was fine.

Are you like me and prefer the Mexican Restaurants that offer 'real' Mexican food and not the fluffed up stuff, well then, this is your place. I've only been there a few times and I've always gotten the chili verde chimichanga. YUmmmmmY. We have to stop ourselves from finishing the 2nd basket of chips & salsa so that we have room for what we ordered. As soon as we get over there again, and I order something different I'll come back and post some more.

It's decent Mexican fare. The only other comparable Mexican restaurant in Carmel is La Hacienda by Meijer on US 31. I like the salsa here and the lunch specials are good. Worth a try if you're feeling Mexicany.

Cancun is our second "El Jaripeo back up" Mexican Restaurant. We have always had pretty good service here - sometimes a little slower and less proactive than we'd like - but pretty good. We really like the salsa, enchiladas, chalupas and vegetarian fajitas here, among other things. The location is convenient, but if you go on a busy night you might have a little trouble finding a parking space as the lot is a bit on the small side. I do like the Cancun on Keystone a little better, but this location is much closer for us so that usually wins out.

I will give it points for being extremely clean when I was there. We ordered the Huevos Rancheros and Enchiladas Suizas. Both came out looking to be more on the "fake American" side of Mexican food. That would've been fine, not my favorite, but fine...if the food had any taste at all. I'm not sure I have ever had such bland food, nevertheless, bland mexican food. We won't be going back. The quest continues for delicious Mexican food in Indy.

If you want Mexican for lunch this is your place. The lunch specials are really reasonable and all include a soda. Best of all the service is FAST. As soon as you sit down, chips and salsa are on the table, drinks are over shortly, and your food is out within 5 minutes after you order which is important if you are trying to get back to work. I can't speak to the dinner service but lunch is excellent.

I had ordered out Cancun awhile back and was not at all impressed. Decided to give it another try with my fiancé a few nights ago. Upon walking in, I was surprised out how nice and clean it was inside. I know it's been there forever, and judging by the outside you wouldn't think it'd be nice at all inside. But hey, don't judge a book by it's cover right? We were greeted and seated promptly. Chips and salsa were on our table in moments as our server took our drink order. I'd rate the salsa as just ok, but not bad by any means. Once our drinks arrived we went ahead and ordered. I went with the wet burrito which was one of the specials for the evening. It came with chicken and shrimp, smothered in a cheese sauce. Hot food, hot plate, tasty dish. Not bad, Cancun! After that visit, I will definitely go back for another try! 4 stars for exceptional food and service.

Absolutely fantastic drinks! Food portions are enormous. Great place to grab a quick lunch since they have a decently priced lunch menu. You must order their desserts. Their fried ice cream is awesome and so is their flan!!!!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
