The Brockway Public House seems out of place for the surrounding neighborhood, but we liked it enough to go twice on successive visits to the Indianapolis area. It probably helped that it was within walking distance of our hotel both times. It looks like a classic Irish pub on the inside with a few modern touches. Prices were reasonable. The good: One of the best Guinness pours in the U.S. If you don't want Guinness, a good selection of local beers on tap Fish and chips are amazing The not so good...but in all honesty, they are nitpicky: Service can be slow but we would classify it as relaxed and unhurried. The view from the windows and/or outdoor seating leaves something to be desired, as you find yourself staring at Meijer across the street. Why did they have the windows open in 90-degree weather??? We definitely hope to pay a return visit...for the Guinness if nothing else.

My favorite bar/pub in Indy. Outstanding overseas beer and whiskey menu and the mug freezing technique is a show in itself. The bartenders pour the best Black & Tan's in town. Try the fish sandwich or fish and chips. Chips are homemade and perfect. A fun bunch of people work there and the patrons are the same. It was THE place to watch the World Cup. Cozy, authentic British pub atmosphere. Best of all, it's a non-smoking environment. This British pub knows how to do it right. p.s. local ownership...not a chain.

I'm only giving this two stars instead of one because I had a great time here with the people I went with, and everyone else liked their food more than I did. This is traditional pub food, but they could do better with their options for vegetarians and non-beer drinkers. The grilled cheese was the most pathetic one I've had in my life, with fake american cheese and boring bread. When I asked for their wine list, the waitress brought me a bit of receipt paper with 3 wines handwritten on it. I don't plan on going back - I'm not the demographic they're going for.

A disgrace to Irish Pubs! For one the oldest person on the staff might be 21, I guess they would have to be to tend bar but it's obvious no one has a lot of restaurant experience if any. The food is nothing special and the service is totally weird. Anyone can take your order so Its really disorganized. Ive been to Ireland, and I can tell you if you want an Irish Pub experience this is not it! TGIF Fridays is more of an Irish experience then this place. Some of there staff were wearing kilts? What's Irish about that? No one in Ireland wears kilts period. Typical ignorant Carmel Establishment.

Far and away the best pub experience in Carmel by a mile. The staff are knowledgable and treat pouring pints of beer as an art form. The food is great and it's open late. Great atmosphere, great crowd and the place is clean. As a former server and bartender i really appreciate all the details. I'm new to Carmel and will definitely be a regular here...ps the music is awesome

Must try the Danny Boy beer at The Brockway.

the Brockway is forcing people to make a donation before you can get a drink! Used to come here often, will never return.

Cozy place for a pint and quality pub food. My husband and I enjoy a pub atmosphere - this one's an upscale Dublin mode. Love the roomy booths for groups, but seating isn't comfy: think wooden church pews. Maybe it's so we won't nap after our Perfect Pints. We've eaten more pub food than a person should and it's clear that Brockway has a chef on staff, not a linecook. Pub food tends to be limited in variety, but we choose Brockway's because it's high quality pub food done perfectly. The Shepherd's Pie is "done up proper" with lamb. The Fish & Chips (steak fries to non-Dubliners) are the best because the breading to fish ratio is balanced. No sogginess, no extra breading to toss, just crunch into flaky whitefish. Celtic rings are a mountain of crispy, featherweight breaded onions. Homemade potato soup's tasty, not pasty like other places. Haven't made it here for a late evening or game day with the crew, yet. Did enjoy ogling the high-end motorcycle show with my Harp in hand, though.

Walked in, sat at the bar for 10 minutes without anybody saying as much as hello. Place wasn't even 20% full. Won't be back.

Order a Fish and Chips with a Black and Tan (Guinnes and Harp). No one does that combination better this side of the pond. If you can swing by on one of their bike nights you will be in for a visual treat. Not a lot of Harley posers; you'll see a lot of serious cafe racer types just enjoying the evening. Its a great spot to hang out.

Great pub atmosphere. A lot of thought went in to making it fell like English public house.

We have visited several times but unfortunately our last visit was less desirable. The restaurant was understaffed and we suffered for it. The food took a ridiculously long time to come out and was served warm instead of hot. Forget about getting drinks refilled or an additional pint. The table beside ours left after being seated for over 40 minutes without anyone taking their order. I had to chase down our server to get our check to settle out. It was very disappointing because we love their fish and chips and Irish stew and it is the only place you can get Guinness served at the proper temp in Indy. We will try again and I hope to improve my rating then, I'm just sorry I didn't review them previously when we did get excellent service.

I had a pretty good time at the Brockaway Public House. Although, it was a bit surreal. There were some high points, and some low points, but overall I had a good time. But wait, maybe I should 'splain... If you check out my review for the Stacked Pickle, you'll see that I was there with a drinking buddy who was looking to score. Well, he ditched me at Stacked Pickle for a ladyfriend, and so I wandered down to Brockaway Public House for a pint. It wasn't early when I got there, but it wasn't way late, either. Upon entering the establishment, there was a large group of folks in the 40-60 age range sitting at a big table and they had obviously been partying for a while. One of them, a rather portly guy, was wearing a small crown on his head. No one else at the table had any sort of costume or regalia on, and no one was shouting "Happy Birthday!" or "Long Live the King!" - he just had a cheap, plastic crown on his head. I noted this, but having lived for six years in Athens, GA, this was nothing. I made my way to the bar, and sat about one seat away from another guy, and more or less in front of the taps. There were two or three bartenders (mostly female if I recall) and I got the impression that one or both of the bartenders were a bit hammered. One young lady spied me, asked what I wanted to drink, and I ordered a Guinness. She rang it up, but then she disappeared - I mean, was gone for a while. I watched the other bartender make the Guinness, and then my beer sat there. For a while. Finally the guy who made it said, "who's Guinness is this?" and I said "I reckon that's mine, but the young lady who took my order is gone." He nodded and slid it to me. I drank three pints of Guinness while surveying my surroundings. Drunken older crowd up front with crown; table of six women and two men in back, all hammered, and guys obviously looking like they macked on a "girls' night out" crew. The guy that was one seat away from me also seemed to know a guy who was one seat away from him, at the end of the bar. Suddenly, one of the women from the "girls' night" table stalks up to the guy near me, and starts whispering fiercely in his ear. I get this vague sense that they are a couple, and it is clear from their fevered whispering that they are more than friends -- there is some jealousy on the wind, it seems. Angry girls' night out girl wanders off, and I kind of glance at the guy next to me, because I've just heard a healthy dose of his business. He smiles and shrugs, and introduces himself, and we chat for a second. He finds out I'm a college instructor, and he reveals he's a Ph.D. in Microbiology (or something very scientific) and I guess he works for one of the large pharmaceutical firms and he confirms he does but won't name which one, etc. We talk geeky academic stuff for a few minutes, and then my phone rings. Remember the drinking buddy who left me at Stacked Pickle with a ladyfriend? Yeah, he's calling. Ladyfriend is psycho - is hot for him, but won't go to her place (her ex is watching the house, she claims) and won't go to a hotel room (she knows all the front desk people and they'll tell her co-workers, or maybe her mom...), and so after making out in the car with her, he tells her this is ridiculous, and kicks her to the curb. So now he's calling me to see if I'm still out and drinking. So, he joins me at the bar. Before he joins me, there is this other guy about three seats down to my right, and he is clearly friends with the bar staff and good buddies with one of the female bartenders. I quietly drink more Guinness while waiting on my friend. He arrives. We switch to liquor. Microscientist dude has started talking in earnest with the guy at the end of the bar, and I more or less figure out that girls' night out crew got crashed by some or all of their boyfriends, and these dudes at the table sort of moved in on the drama trying to pick up some angry chicks, and the guys at the bar were trying to act like they didn't care. Yeah, I thought I was in a grown-up bar, too, but apparently it was "act like you're in high school night." Did I mention that these people had to be in their 30s? Did I mention the plastic crown? Yeah, okay, just checking. Anyhow, me and my buddy are drinking liquor and he's telling me about crazy, paranoid ladyfriend. We are officially drunk at this point. The guy who is three stools down and knows the bar staff kind of chimes in on our conversation, and begins to chat with us. All I can recall at this point is that this guy cannot be for real. If I remember correctly, and I'm not sure I do, he was ex-military special forces, a medical doctor, had been blown up or shot on his tour of duty, and maybe saved a bus load of orphans from a meteor strike, one-handed. At this point, my drinking buddy and I look at each other, bust out laughing, pay our tab and just leave. The Brockaway Public House? Like a trip down the rabbit hole, my friend, and my name ain't even Alice.

One of my favorite spots in Carmel, IN, they have cold drinks and good food. The service is sometimes a bit spotty depending on the time and day, I always have good luck though on Wednesday evenings.

I absolutely love it here. I've drank my fair share (tried over 350 kinds of beer in a plethora of pubs) and I've yet to find a better Guinness outside of Ireland. Additionally, I've quickly established rapport with the bartenders as they are quite welcoming. So come in, grab a plate of fish and chips and settle in for some great Irish fare.

One of my new favorite spots in Carmel. This place knows how to pour a proper Guinness, and the atmosphere is spot on.

I'm really in between a 3 and a 4 stars on Brockway. Brockway has great beer on tap including some local breweries. The fish and chips area really good and the burgers are great. I have never had bad food at Brockway. The menu is a bit limited, but I think that is ok. It has what you would expect from a pub. On busy nights Brockway is incredibly loud, like hard to have a conversation loud. I'm not knocking it for that, more just letting you know. I guess though that what really brings the rating down to a 3 rather than a 4 is that the service is really spotty. While the servers have always been pleasant and never rude, sometimes they are incredibly slow. I can understand that when it is really busy, but I actually think I have had better service when it is really busy, than during slower times. I was surprised at how long it took someone to come take our orders on a slow Sunday evening.

Let me start by saying that I am not a drinker, so this review is only of the food and service I received. I just moved to this area of town and decided to try this place out on Saturday. Every time I drive by, the place is packed so it must be good right? My boyfriend and I showed for dinner around 6:30. There were only a few people inside and more than enough employees. We were greeted promptly and told to have a seat anywhere. Our waitress greeted us within a few minutes of sitting down. She was very quiet and almost timid which I though was sort of odd. It's a loud Irish pub, and being quiet and shy doesn't seem to fit well with that atmosphere. Anyways, I ordered the fish and chips and Dan ordered an open-faced chicken sandwich. My fish and chips were good but a little to greasy for me. The batter on the fish was pretty good but the chips were just your typical 'out of the bag and thrown in the fryer' steak fries. There was a pool of grease at the bottom of my plate after I finished eating. Dan's chicken sandwich was amazing. I only had one bite and almost asked him to trade entrees with me. The rest of our time here was a bit odd as well or maybe the employees were just bored. Dan had ordered a beer and finished it. We were then asked by three different employees if he would like a refill but none of them offered to refill our water glasses. The check was finally delivered by a yet another employee. Our meal plus one beer was around $27. I would be willing to give this place another try. Their menu looked pretty good.

This was the first and last time I will come here . Sat at a table for 15 and NOONE waited on me! Service sucks!

I only live a few miles from here so it makes for an easy stop or takeout. The menu is small and I must say I really haven't tried anything other than the fish and chips. My wife always gets the salmon which she says is good. The Beer Battered Fried Cod is outstanding and so is the Guinness! I recommend these to anyone who longs for real Fish and Chips at Less than $10.00. Used to drive out downtown then to 96th street to go to The Claddagh for good Fish & Chips, which they have but at more than twice the price for pretty much the same portion! Took the kids a couple of times but really isn't set up for children

Oh, heyyyyyyy Carmel! Brockway's got a great vibe going! I love good service, and it's definitely here. The night I was in, all draft beers were $4. Flat12 and Ranger IPA, Fat Tire, Stella, and of course Guiness just to name a select few. Parking was free and easy with a full lot, and it was nice to walk out of a place not smelling like moldy cigarette. Good music that wasn't too loud, and even though there were lots of people there, it didn't feel crowded. Fun.

Ups: -Located beneath a row of new condos rather than a strip mall. Not an easy task outside of downtown Carmel. -Un-generic interior. Marketed as the 1st Industrial Irish pub in the US. While I'm not sure what that means exactly, the fact that they make such a statement has to be worth something. Downs: -Generic menu -Draft beer choices...good imports, but need to work on the local beer selection.

This place is definitely solid. I have seen some people give this place a mediocre review and I have no idea why. The atmosphere is great and the tables, chairs, and bar are all made of a beautiful dark wood. The servers are attentive and the beer selection is pretty good for an Irish bar. They had several seasonal beers on tap and also some from local breweries. The food is also great. If you are looking for something Irish they have fantastic stew and several stew like variations that were absolutely delicious. Late at night around 8:30 they sometimes have a small acoustic band playing Irish tunes.

Loved this place! Locally owned and yummy. Service was prompt and friendly. I ordered a frosty glass of Stella Artois which was as cold as can be without being frozen. Ordered the fish and chips for dinner and it was perfect! I am picky about my fish and chips and this was some of the best I've had. Onion ring like batter made the fish crispy and light. Service was good all around. Great atmosphere. Ice cold beer and great fish and chips. I'll be back!

The Ranger IPA is not as hoppy as the ones at Red Rock restaurant in SLC. The menu has very limited food selections and does not feature a vegetarian options. The Shepherds pie, which I ordered, was too salty, but otherwise would have been good. The bartenders were busy in conversation with other patrons or trying to find a channel requested by someone else, so I sat for about 3-4 minutes before getting any attention. The service was adequate after that first delay. It was Wednesday evening around 7:30pm, and the place was not crowded and though I was by myself and didn't need to talk to anyone, the ambiance was quiet enough that I could hear other peoples conversation at the bar. Probably would not return, since nothing stood out, though it wasn't offensive either.

They have changed the menu a good bit and I must say its a good thing, all the meals come with a side now and they have expanded what they offer including steaks on friday. I think all of these things will help.

This place gets five stars from me simply for being independently owned and looking like a professional and well decorated chain restaurant. That and they have the best draft beer I have ever had in my life. Do yourself a favor if you like beer, go get a pint of Belhaven Scottish Ale from Brockway. The bartenders were cool cats that were very talkative and politely answered all my questions, and trust me, when I go someplace new, I have a ton of them. I can't speak to the food as of yet but I certainly will be stopping in for some grub soon. Oh and the have WiFi which makes me even happier, I can go there to relax and get some work done with a pint of Belhaven!

I often ride my motorcycle to this pub when they have european bike night. Great selection of beer and scotch. Cool decor. Big windows that open to the street. They pour a great pint and the pub food is more than solid. Fish and Chips rank high among reviewers for a reason. The have a special tap system that keep beer at a certain temp all the way to the glass so they are serious about their beer and the quality of the drink they are serving. They often have live music as well. A very popular spot in Carmel.

    (5)
  • Devin R.

This is easily one of my most favorite haunts in the greater Indianapolis area. The beer selection is great, the decor is appropriate, modern, changing, and fun. The Guinness pour is incredible (the right temp and they let it sit the right amount of time prior to serving). If you are budget-conscience it has great specials and healthy portions. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is that lately their food service has been mediocre- not bad- but not GREAT like it was only a few months ago. Overall this a a great place to sit down by yourself or with a group of friends.

Stopped in for dinner earlier this week. As I travel quite a bit, I tend to look for the non-traditional, and avoid the cookie-cutter corporate restaurants. Fun atmosphere, plenty of TV screens for sports. It was Monday, and I had the special, Fish and chips, and was well pleased with the portion and quality. The fish was prepared better than most places, and the chips were tasty and not just to soak up the grease as others have tried. Service was excellent and the black&tan was spot-on. I will definitely return.

Good food, drinks, atmosphere, & staff. Close to home for me, but if you're not, watch out for the Carmel cops. Worth making this a regular stop if you live close or, if you don't, worth the drive for an early evening stop. Locally owned and not part of any chain makes the Brockway even better.

Less than mediocre food and horrible service! Very disappointing because I live so close.....

This is a great place, period. When you walk into this pub, the first thing you will notice is the atmosphere. Dark wood, pool table, darts, and TVs all over the place. I love my beer, so when i was told that i would get the best Guinness pint in the city, i was a bit skeptical. Before I could think on this any longer, the friendly bar tender had my pint ready. WOW! This had to be one of the coldest beers i have ever had. Impressed, I decided to try one of the items on the menu. I ordered the sampler platter and everything was cooked to perfection. I have to say after enjoying another frosty pint of Guinness, I will be back for sure with friends.

Nice local pub that is independently owned and a bit different from the other northside options. Great place to drink a pint. Staff is friendly and food, though limited in options, is solid. It is loud, so be ready to raise your voice

Good selection of beers at reasonable prices. Food is greasy if you order anything fried, OK, but not that spectacular otherwise. For riders of European motorcycles, there is a Euro Bike Night during riding months on the second Thursday and last Saturday of each month.

  • Kyle K.

Great place to go for a pint, with a very nice atmosphere and ambiance. Great selection of beers as well as a full bar. There are a couple of dart boards tucked away in the corner and they sometimes have live music on the weekends. They also have food, which is pretty much limited to your normal bar foods. My friends and I have spent many a nights (not all of which we remember) at this bar. If you're ever over by Providence on Old Meridian, definately check it out.

Fun place! Great summer hangout! All of my friends love their pub chips and beers. I'm GF so I stick with their grilled chicken and wine. Head's up: service is slow, but most of the servers are nice.

Nice atmosphere & a good place spend a leisurely evening. We've never really had any problem with service but we go to The Brockway to relax & have a good conversation; not to grab a quick bite & rush off. When a band's playing it's difficult to hear but we usually go mid-week. The Dublin Crisps & Garbage Fries are pretty good appetizers. Their fish & chips are quite good & so are a few of the burgers (I like the Double Bogey). I'm more partial to lighter beers with a slightly fruity taste & they have a great pear beer which fits the bill, There is not a ton of seating which establishes it as a pub & not a bar (like BWWs). It's colder near door & window areas so bring a jacket or sweater in cooler weather.

    (5)
  • J K.

Shepherds pie excellent, Guinness was $4, 15 or so decent beer selection from $5 a pint. Worth a go for your typical Irish pub, but cleaner!

Such a cute Irish pub! Honestly, Carmel would usually be the last place I looked for a chill pub to grab a drink and "just hang out." A good friend of mine took me here to celebrate St. Patty's Day and I must say, I was very pleased. The drink menu was spot on and their fish and chips -- um, they just might be the best. SO GOOD. And I mean - so good. The pub is laid out in a way that most of the seating can be intimate. They have several tables tucked away in nooks and crannies. I loved the layout. Our service was great and the pricing made sense. All in all, a great pub experience in Carmel. I probably would have not gone here unless my friend suggested it, so it's a good thing she did the other day. Very impressed.

My Yellow Rickshaw made the last visit worthwhile. Service is never very fast there, but last night was even worse. We had to ask for our Guinness twice before they even started them. I know it should take a tick over 2 minutes to get a properly poured Guiness and they do it right there, but at least start them when they are ordered. I noticed one of the servers just kind of pushing people out of his way without so much as an "excuse me" and he never smiled.. the quality of their beer and whiskey selection keeps me going back. I just go less often because of the service.

  • Lauren L.

Brockway is outstanding! I can walk from my apartment and it is usually bumping some sort of fun atmosphere. The food is excellent, staff is friendly, AND they have my favorite cider... on tap, Strongbow! My husband and I have attended their St. Patty's day celebrations in the past, love them! They have great cover bands, including our favorite My Yellow Rickshaw. This pub is hard to beat and we haven't tried yet :)

I love a good fish and chips being British by birth. I read great reviews of their fish and chips so ordered it. The food came fast. The waitress was nice and helpful. The fish itself was excellent but ruined by far too much batter so that between the lovely fish and a great crunchy outside was a thick layer of floury slime. I find that I am not the first to feel this way. My waitress did offer me a different meal if I wanted but I didn't have time. But full marks for that. It was 3 pm ish so the restaurant was almost empty

Nice atmosphere. Nice bartender (Jen), good Guinness pour, had the chili, extremely tasty and for me, extremely hot but I could not stop eating it. Also had the Cobb salad, solid. Decent TVs. All around winner.

A hole in a wall kind of place in a very non-descriptive part of Carmel. There's a lot of regulars and the drinks are pretty darn huge and priced oh-so-right (compared to what I'm used to back in LA). They have a very interesting menu selection and even the menu and how's it's printed is interesting. You have to come visit on Friday nights for great local bands. Overall, great pub..laid back ambiance.

Very comfortable bar and restaurant. I didn't eat but rather stopped to get a fix of Alpha King. They have an excellent variety of craft beers on tap. The bartenders were very friendly and attentive to service. I absolutely LOVED that they checked carefully with one of the bar patrons who had already had a few to make sure she wasn't driving before they served her more. Thank you from the rest of us on the road.

I've been to this place in Carmel a few times, usually with my buddies for lunch. The place never disappoints. They have a great beer selection, and their food is wonderful. On my latest visit I tried their chili for the first time. I'm not kidding, some of the best chili I have ever had, and I've eaten a lot of chili in my 49 years. Huge chunks of meat and cooked in jalapeños - great flavor. If you're in Carmel and want to grab great lunch with some good beer, you can't go wrong here.

Let me start by saying that I have never given a restaurant a 1-star rating, and I would have given this place a 0-star, if that were possible. I chose Brockway because of the ratings on Yelp... My friends were coming to Indy for a visit, so I wanted to pick a new place. I was terribly disappointed. To start, my friends got there first and ordered a round, and an order of the nachos. When the waitress brought their appetizer, we had no silverware or small plates. She said that all of the little plates "had broken" and they only had " 6 left"... so she brought one big plate for everyone to share. It took another trip to get the silverware. She then took our food orders....in the interim, we ordered another round. After bringing my friends' drinks, she told me that the beer I had ordered wasn't available as a half pint (the nightly special), so I selected another beer. 10 minutes later, a different waitress came and said that the beer I had ordered was no longer on tap-- when I showed her the beer list, she said that I had an old list- and she brought another. In the meantime, the first waitress delivered our meals. I had ordered the Chicken Salad wrap, and my friend ordered the Chicken Bacon Ranch wrap. Mine looked exactly like his, and because I cannot eat ranch dressing, I waited for the waitress to return. She went to check the screen, and sure enough, she placed 2 orders for the ranch wrap. She apologized, and said she would comp my meal...and place an order for the correct wrap. Back to the beer- the 2nd waitress comes back and says that the 3rd beer that I've attempted to order is not available in a half pint! Are you kidding me!?!? Does anyone that works here know what's available? And, does it take 15 minutes (each time) to figure it out!? After watching my 3 friends completely finish their meals, the waitress returns and tells me that they are out of tortillas. This is the final straw. Being as patient as I can be, I tell her that I'm done. Without any dinner, I left. My friend, who picked up the tab, was still charged for my 2 half pints, which I thought was ridiculous. I wouldn't have even left a tip, but because they felt that their meals were decent, they did. Needless to say, I would NEVER go back. So disappointed to say that this establishment is in my neighborhood. Also, it ruined the evening with my friends. Thanks, Brockway, for nothing!

The staff is very cool, knowledgeable, and friendly. The food selection is limited, but very tasty! The crowd is good and friendly on the whole.

One of the only solid bars in Carmel. Good food, drinks, and occasional entrainment. They even have/pour a better than average quality Guiness on tap. On this occasion (St. Patty's weekend), I have a wee bit of an issue with the $7 Green Coors Light. That's just a straight up rip off. Take s little better care of your customers and stop acting so.....Carmel. Overall solid place though.

I have been coming here since their first year of opening and i still love everything about it. Booze: I'll start by saying that it has won best pint by Guinness in Indy for the past 4 years and trust me you cant find a better one anywhere in town. To top that off their chilling system for their beers is impeccable. You get the perfect temperature on every beer, its amazing. Recently they have expanded their beer selections to microbrews and have even been working on their own "Danny Boy", which is excellent. To top off the amazing beer they have one of the finest selections of Irish Whiskey, Scotch and Bourbon in the city with by far the most reasonable prices. Food: The food is also a must try here. They have been voted best fish and chips in the city (a very true statement) and have a wide range of selections on the menu. I recommend the original chicken sandwich (grilled chicken sandwich covered in a sweet bbq sauce with cheddar cheeses and bacon on top), the burger and they do also have the BEST PUB CHIPS IN INDY. Events: The Brockway have bands ranging from nationally renown artists to a local group of friends that play irish fold music once a week. They have tastings for multiple Irish Whiskey makers and once a year celebrate the Guinness award (that they always get). Also "of corse" at an Irish pub, they have an OUTSTANDING party for St. Patricks Day. This includes great live music, awesome volunteering and participation from most all the surrounding fire houses. There is a pumper pull competition, KEG toss competition and all around fun times all day long. It is a must stop for any St. Patricks Day party goer. Service: Awesome!! Unlike most pubs one great thing about Brockway is that you can sit wherever you want and go where ever you want. If you start at the bar, and then some friends show up and you want to move to a table, no problem. All the servers and bar tenders share the same tips so they work together as a team. If it gets busy and staff is light just run up to the bar and place your order (thats how its done in Ireland). You will always be greeted with a "welcome to the Brockway, sit where ever you like" when entering the establishment. All in all if you don't know The Brockway Pub, give it a shot you'll come back!

I've been wanting to check this place out on one of my Indy trips for a while! Our friends' band had a gig here, so we came out for an over night the weekend of my birthday for a party! The overall atmosphere of the place is great! There isn't a stage of bands, but the corner of the bar isn't completely terrible for them to use. We started out with the Mozzarella Cakes... This was a nice change to the normal sticks. The outside breading was great and crispy! Nicely seasoned as well! There is a lot more cheese in a cake rather than a stick! There were 3 cakes in an order. The boy ordered the Brockway Burger... He loved the cheddar and BACON! He's a huge burger fan and this one did not disappoint. It came with steak fries which he enjoyed as well. I had the Shepherd's Pie... Though it was a little salty it was very good! This could have been from the cheesy goodness and just adding salt to the dish. Keep the cheese add a lot less salt. It was a great dish other than that. We had some issues with the servers getting our drink orders correct. It was unfortunate that when we told the bartenders and management we were only given a drink to fix it. They may have some work to do with the staff to get up to par.

Great food burgers and fish and chips ; and great Danny Boy beer;) excellent atmosphere with plenty of activities weekly from live local music to Irish themes and cards. Owners care about you and I can't wait for Danny Boy brewery coming to Village of West Clay in Carmel to open this week.

Service was friendly and prompt. I ordered mozzarella cakes as app. At first I thought they were cooked in the same oil as fish but then I realized the oil was just old and /or burnt. Large cakes of mozzarella but greasy. Crust would have been nice sans the greasiness. Left me belching and mouth feeling greasy. Side note- my view from a small table near the bar provided entertainment and dismay as the bartender served 2 _very_ obviously intoxicated females and their companions more alcohol. Oy ve! Get a room or go home! I liked my server a lot. She was friendly but not overbearing. Ordered shepherds pie for dinner...not the best. A layer of lamb grease on the bottom of the plate and so much cheese on top I could hardly find the mashed potatoes. Great for a drink, but eat somewhere else.

Nice quant Irish pub, had cozy little booths that are 1/2 circles. Servers wear kilts, which adds to fun environment. Typical bar fare, steak fries, burgers, chips, wraps.

Been here a few times, great food, nice selection of beer and friendly staff. Had the fish and chips, they were very good.

I kept reading that the service here is slow, and was therefore a bit hesitant to try it, but it was actually pretty good the few times I've been. The food is a little expensive for decent fried food, and we ordered some custom four-liqueur shots and they were $8 each! But it's hardly the first time I've been shocked by the price of a shot and I think most Irish pubs are overpriced. The atmosphere is good, the bleu cheese Irish nachos and fish & chips are delicious...I'd say it's a solid choice for casual date or group night out if you're in Carmel.

Nice authentically themed Irish pub place right off of the Main St.-Meridian intersection in Carmel. Great atmosphere for just hanging out (a family member and I met here for lunch to catch up) or watching sports -- there are a good number of TVs. I could see stopping by here on a Sunday afternoon to watch some NFL action. Good selection of beers and hard ciders, including Harp (my old Irish standby) and Guinness, of course. The food is your typical Irish pub fare but I went with a cheddar cheeseburger and streak fries, which was very satisfying. My sister had the fish and chips, which looked good enough that I think I'll try it the next time I visit. The menu also offers dishes such as Shepherd's Pie and Boxty. Plenty of outdoor seating for the warmer months, too, and parking is plentiful behind the building. Great place with good service.... highly recommended and I'll be back.

Try the scotch eggs. Fantastic app! Chill Irish bar with good service and good people. I will be around often. Bonus!

Let's start with my biggest problem: this place is too far from my house. I'd love to spend more time here. It has a great Irish public house vibe. The food is both pub and Irish. Of course, the beer selection is great if you like the Irish classics. I was lucky enough to be part of an event using the Guinness Perfect Pint Pouring table in the back room. This room includes a table that seats 6-8 with a tap for Guinness and a tap for Bass. It's fun to practice pouring a great pint of Guinness, and you never even have to leave your seat.

Awful!!! We showed up and finally found 4 seats at a small shared table. There was quite a delay for the waiter to even acknowledge us, longer to take our drink order, and we waited so long after that we ended up leaving before they ever came. They were out of hamburgers, which is one of the few main course options. Police cars showed up as we were leaving.

We've been here a few times and usually it's ok...but last time we went in, there were definitely some issues. They didn't have a beer that we ordered, then didn't have some menu item we ordered, after that--they had no forks. The place was probably at 50% capacity. The server never offered an apology--or even a spoon. She couldn't have cared less and seemed annoyed to be there. I get that it's not her fault the restaurant is missing items on their menu and can't control the fork washing, but a pleasant smile and apology would have been gracious.

They have a draft table where you pour your own beer. In Indiana, that is rare. This may, in fact, be unique to the state. Not sure, but they did tell me that. In Ireland, this concept is ubiquitous. I remember enjoying this at Clancy's in downtown Cork after the barman let me pour my own pint of Beamish (Cork's very own stout, better than Guinness) and keep the glass! Coming here reminds me of my pub crawl in Cork, for it was a fantastic time with pubs that often looked like this, though a bit less "Industrial Dublin." The draft system is not hyped enough. This is SERIOUSLY some of the BEST beer poured in the state. The Guinness is a marshmallow cloud that takes you on a journey over the rolling, verdant hills making one content as a lamb on a high meadow. Oh, check out their awards atop the shelving. Voted the best pint of the black stuff in North America by Guinness the company itself. Guinness actually cancelled future contests due to the domination of this pub in Indy's own backyard. Other awards include best pint in Indy, best burger by ESPN and Indy's only 5 star rated fish and chips. (Right up there with 9 Irish Brothers in Lafayette, IN) They rock the local beer and craft beer and the owner has his own brew venture called Danny Boy Beer Works that is sometimes available. It is tasty and I can't wait to try more from this once it is in full swing. Nice Irish whiskey selection as well. Midleton Irish Whiskey will ravage you with its perfection. Service has been great at times and meh at times. Don't go on St. Paddy's Day for it is chaos and getting a drink can be a chore. Irish sessions and other live music is to be had.

Sat at the bar on a very snowy Friday. The bartender was attentive, allowed us samples of their excellent house Danny Boy selections and was otherwise friendly with conversation and Ocean Cocktails. The Scotch Ale was especially unique and tasty. Will definitely revisit!

First off the Brockway has a great beer list. Tons of local options as well as some solid national craft brews. The food is traditional pub food with a few more interesting twists. I love their loaded pub chips. Service can be a little bit slow, but its never been terrible. I love the live band option on the weekends. All in this is a great spot to hang out and have some apps or sit down for drinks and a late dinner.

Friends had their pre-wedding welcoming party here last Friday and what a great time we all had. The staff made sure our glasses were never empty and appetites were great as well (fish sliders...YUMMY). The outdoor seating was great since it was a warm night. I had the ultimate ny-er moment when I bought a round of drinks and it was only $24, I was like that's it...a friend had to remind me...Hi...we are in Indiana...I was like yeah...duh!

I have been coming here on Fridays after work with friends who work nearby. We always have a great time. The beer selection rotates, which is nice. They offer Hendrick's gin, which is the best gin I have ever tasted. It makes one smooth G & T. Recently, we noticed their was a Menage A Trois bottle wine special on Friday nights. A bottle of decent red wine for $10 at a bar? We'll take it! Food-wise, they have very tasty food that helps sop up some of that booze. Some of my favorites are the chicken fingers, THE PUB CHIPS, and a new favorite is their spinach dip. Order it with the pita chips, they make the dip soooooo good. St. Patty's day they have an awesome block style party.

Loooooove Brockway. My fiancée & I lived on the apartments by Brockway so we went ALOT, they have StrongBow on tap & a delicious spinach dip. The atmosphere is really cool and chill. Service has gotten a ton better so it's hard to keep us away from there. Brockway has certainly become one of our favorites!

I'm a big fan! I was in town for business and stopped for supper on a recommendation. The staff was great and instantly made me feel like a local. Had a great conversation at the bar to go with my Killians. The fish and chips were top notch. I love the interior. I can honestly say that after an hour of soccer, I still don't get it.

The black & tan was excellent but I should have remembered I was at a pub and not a Mexican restaurant the fish tacos at $10.25 we're not that great I should have gone for the bangers and mash or fish & chips. I had a great time as I always do here but I just need to remember, when in Rome.....

Went solo on a Saturday evening - big stretch limo double parked in front, passel of formally dressed early twenty-somethings having a brew inside before heading off somewhere for more fun. More waitstaff than customers when I got there, took a seat in the bar area and was greeted immediately by a kilt wearing young male server, who very efficiently took my drink order (had a Ranger IPA, which was just dandy). I ordered the fish and chips based on other Yelp reviews. It was about the best fish/coating combo I have had here in the Indy area; three very nice perfectly cooked whitefish fillets, just the right amount of greasy. The chips were plentiful, if not distinguished, also properly cooked. As others have said, the place was quite loud, even with the small-to-moderate sized crowd present. I think the noise and the other negative, the lack of any cushioned seating, have a positive correlation (my butt is still sore - this is not a place I could sit for a lot of drinks without being pretty blitzed already). In the end, I would say the personnel at the restaurant were quite efficient, and also very friendly to regulars or those of the proper demographic - old farts such as myself are treated fine, but still feel like outsiders.

Saw some good reviews and was working close by. Place was busy and noise level about normal for a pub/bar! Mostly beer drinkers not as many diners. Ordered Scotch eggs appetizer. Fish and chips for meal. Server was nice and attentive but she was swamped with several tables to tend. Drinks right away, food much later! Appetizers came same time as meals. That's OK by me. Scotch eggs very interesting! Hard boiled egg covered in pork sausage thin layer and then fried deep fat til sausage browned. Not bad at all! Fish was decent breading little greasy, fries very greasy! All over if you are beer aficionado this pub is good for you. They have a good selection of craft ales, but I'm not a drinker so I might return but might not. Good place to socialize with friends and drink ale or beer.

This is probably a good place for those into all the trendy beer snob stuff. But their euro bike night should be a good event. The nonexistent service on the patio keeps it at a minimum. You almost always have track down your server. Has to be an absentee owner or very weak manager. This is based on more than one Thursday night bike night. Yes I go back but eat somewhere else first. The only worst service is Rick's Dockside.

Solid Fish and Chips. Nice dinner with family. It is a pub and offers nice international sports for visiting family to catch a match :)

Service is very very poor. The first server came by, we asked for menus and a beer list. She came by with a menu. She never came back. Another server came by after a while so we asked her if she could help. She said yes, but then looked confused where our server was. Wife and I ordered food and drinks. After a while, our friends met us, our fish and chips came out. No beer yet. We had to keep going to the bar for drinks. After a while it got so unacceptable we left went to a nearby bar off Meridian, where we got friendly service.

Fish and chips were great and so was the beer. Was here on a business trip and was recommended that I check this place out for dinner and it did not disappoint. It's a pub environment (duh, public house) so expect that when you come in. They've got a decent selection of beer but let's face it you're there for the Irish beer. Everyone there was friendly and I've got absolutely no complaints. Would go back again.

OK, Summary first. Do you like pubs? Pub food? OK, this is the place to go! Now for the adventure. It was a long day. I won't go into how bad work went... Just in case the boss reads this. He doesn't need to know. Anyway, I got it all fixed, about 3 hours after my planned stop time. Get to the hotel and hit up Yelp for close places to eat. I'm tired, it's late. I found a place close by. New to the area so I'm looking for close. Seems the roads were closed at the roundabout. Bummer. So a U-turn later I finally find the spot I picked. Oops. It's a hotel restaurant. OK, probably fine, but not what I'm looking for. So I turn around and head back down the road. I see this place on the corner that looks good and pull into the next road. WAIT!! Here's an Irish Pub. Hmmm... Sounds right. No point in going back to the place I saw. So I park and walk in. Not too busy. Seat yourself kind of place. That's cool. I grab the bar. Now for the meat of it. Good pub menu. Burgers, salads, good appetizers. I had the Fish and Chips and a pint of their Mac Daddy Ale (I think that's right). The food was hot, and great. The brew was excellent. Now there's more. I hear some music. Turns out there's a group of Irish guys drop by and play tunes in exchange for food and/or beer. Real Irish feel to the place. The barkeep Michael was super. Attentive, good attitude. Good conversation when appropriate. So all in all, I look for a place that makes me feel at home when I'm out of town. This is that kind of place. You need to drop by when you get a chance. It's a good choice!

I live only a couple miles from this place but somehow have never seen it?? It wasn't bad- I ate my food, but it just wasn't as good as I expected it to be. I ordered the Chicken and Ranch Salad and it was iceberg lettuce with okay dressing. My friend ordered the Margarita Flatbread and said it was alright. We were starving at the time but don't think we'd choose to go here for dinner again. That being said, it definitely has the pub vibe and would be better for drinks later in the evening probably. The main selling point is the great, open-air location. The place opens up onto Old Meridian in the building connected to Yats and Stacked Pickle. The whole front half is open to the outside and there's a great patio with a lot of seating.
