This place is amazing! The staff there are super friendly, energetic and know SO much about their product. It is super fun to hang out there and sample teas, chat with friends and learn about the products. We went to a tea tasting there and they couldn't have been more fun and helpful - best experience ever! Shout out to Elliot, who is awesome!

Bad Service. Walked in and wanted to buy some tea as a gift. Picked out 5 bags (~$35 worth) and I could not get anyone to check me out. Frustrating, cash in hand, wanting to buy the tea and no one wants to take my money.

I wanted to get out of the snowy weather and decided to pop into Adagio on a whim. So glad that I did! They have a huge variety of teas - almost overwhelming. The guys working there were really friendly and helpful, though - explaining the various products and offering me samples to try. I'm not a tea expert by far, but I walked out with several new varieties and a lot more knowledge. Highly recommended!

The fact that this is a family owned business is enough to make me support them. Add the excellent selection of tea, friendly and knowledgeable staff, and excellent prices. I'll be coming back!!

We just had a tea tasting at Adagio Teas. It is a little hard to find if you are looking for it. If you park in the "red" garage, it's to the right of the professional building down a walkway (past Sur La Table, Papyrus, etc). The store itself is light and bright, which is a contrast to its competitor Teavana. It's also less imposing. Instead of having to ask to smell the teas, you can walk to any of the teas and open the glass jars to smell and feel the teas for yourself. Ok, back to the tea tasting. We purchased a deal where it comes with a free "personaliTEA" teapot for each person. You and your guest(s) can choose a collective 3 teas to taste. With so many options in the store, it was hard to choose just 3! While the tea is brewing, our tea consultant Theresa talks to you about the different types of tea, history of tea, answers any questions you have about tea. While we already knew a lot about teas, we learned even more. Theresa was very knowledgeable about teas! It was an interesting and fun experience. I recommend doing this tasting if you are at all interested in teas or want to know more about teas or if you just want to try new teas. One thing to note - do not do this tea tasting if you are pressed for time. They estimate 30 minutes, but it's closer to an hour when you count selection of the teas and choosing your teapot colors.

Great friendly staff (without the pushiness of teavana). Great store layout. I like how they offer loose leaf and teabags of the same flavors so you can choose your favorite form. I also like the "fandom" aspects. I'm a huge sf&f buff and didn't expect "fandom" blends being offered in a tea store. I also enjoyed being able to sample a tea I was worried might trigger a mild but allergy I have. I was indeed allergic to it after trying but because they let me try it first I didn't buy a whole tin of it before determining I was allergic. (For reference I think its the hazelnut flavor in the Aquarius blend I'm allergic to.) I've been to teavana, David's tea, and TeaGschwendner in person and so far I like this tea shop best.

I went in for the first time today and fell in love. The people were incredibly helpful when it came to picking out the perfect tea for myself. My boyfriend picked out 2 and I picked out 2 making the 4th one free! They also gave us free samples with our purchases and let us try whatever tea we wanted. Definitely a great place and I will be returning.

I will not be coming back. I'd give zero stars if I could. Went here today because I was walking around the mall & it was hot, like 90 degrees and humid, so I got thirsty. I remembered I really liked Adagio Teas & chose to come here over Teavana (even though I used to work there & we walked by them first!). It started off well....... The first girl that was helping me was nice. She recommended a few teas & I decided on a blood orange hibiscus tea iced large sweetened. She started steeping it & chatted with us a bit. She was super helpful & she specifically said the hibiscus tea is deep red, like the one at starbucks, which I already knew :) Well, me and my cousin noticed a flyer saying to yelp them so I went on yelp to check in just because I always check in to places & saw that if I do, my drink would be free! That was a pleasant surprise for something I was going to buy anyway. The girl that was helping us, left at that time... idk, her shift was over or something & she handed us over to this other dark haired girl. The girl told the dark haired girl what I got, blood orange large iced sweetened. I heard her. I was told by multiple people that the dark haired girl kept glaring at me more than once, but when I talked to her she was so sweet. Not sure if it was all fake or that's just how she looks at people??? Anyway, she proceeds to tell me that there's something in my tea, like a paper or sticker or something and she could make me a new one. I say ok, and she asks me if I'd like to use this as a chance to add another tea to my blood orange hibiscus, so per her recommendation, I chose some orange rooibos tea. So she dumps the old tea out, starts steeping the new one. I finally get my tea (after 5 min, because I know those rooibos and herbals take that long). She gives me a small, when I know I ordered a large. The tea is watered down like crazy, very, very faint flavor. There is zero taste of any sweetener. It isn't even deep red like a hibiscus tea, it's literally a light orange color. Did she even make the right one?? I barely drank it. Everyone I was with tried it & agreed it was not good. I basically waited over 10 min for watered down tea. I threw it out minutes after I got it because it was that bad. I'm not sure if she did that on purpose or if she just doesn't know how to make tea or what?? Like seriously though? I really feel like she did it on purpose because it happened literally right after she found out I was getting it for free. Plus she was glaring at me the whole time so..... I work in retail & I would never do that to a customer even though it was a free drink. I used to buy teas here whenever I got out to old orchard, but sorry, never again.

My daughter and I shopped here for a birthday gift. The sales clerk could not have been more amazing. He was friendly and helpful and the tea package we bought smells wonderful! Now maybe I need to get some for myself!

There is literally nothing bad you can say about Adagio! I loved the entire experience. I think the assistant manager was working the day I visited and she brewed up a bunch of great samples for the store, but also eagerly offered to brew up a sample of anything else that we felt like trying! All the teas smell/look all natural and fresh, they come packaged in airtight tins or resealable bags, and the prices are not outrageous either. I love that you can order online, but I will really miss the store experience. Adagio, please move to Houston!

Just did the tea tasting for 2 today and it was such a pleasant way to spend an hour of the day! Shane did an awesome job of entertaining us with some tea history and helped us choose which teas were best suited for our tastebuds. The store is well organized and everyone makes you feel welcomed. We walked out with a free gift set and samples. It is also located right around a great play for the kids to enjoy, as the weather permits.

Was en route to pick up some tea. Had gone to Teavana previously, and while pleased withe tea, price was steep, store felt a bit cramped and the sell was knowledgeable, but aggressive. Got to Old Orchard and saw another option was now available in Adagio Teas and decided to check it out. I liked everything about it. The layout of the store, the ability to peruse at my leisure, the quality of the product, the disposition of the staff and the value. So please to have found them. If you drink tea, I highly recommend it.

We did their Tea Tasting for Two with Carla yesterday, and it was such a great time! If you're someone who likes to learn about the history behind tea while tasting fresh and awesome blends, try this spot out. How many times can you go into a store where every person there (Elliot, Carla and Shane) are so much fun that you remember all of their names? If you get the chance, do the Tea Tasting! You get to take taste any 3 blends that they have in the store. There are also many air-pots with hot tea around the store to try as well. As you go along, and as you interact with the awesome associates in the store, you may end up trying 5 or 6 teas before you leave! Our favorites were the Silverneedle, Rooibos Vanilla Chai and the Dr. Who blend. Great experience with great fun to take home, too!

Walked in feeling super dehydrated from the night before & Quinn had just the cure. His quick attention, his recommendation & the service I received from him & the rest of the staff was just what I needed. Thanks Quinn for a great cup of iced strawberry pineapple tea.

Amazing customer service, they are knowledgable and extremely friendly. I got a white chai tea and a chamomile blend, I thought it would be overwhelming and confusing but the teas are already packaged and priced and it is very easy to find what you love. Great prices also.

I am by no means a tea connoisseur. I drink it and enjoy it but I don't know the difference between an oolong and a black tea. I only brew loose tea because I happened on the cutest little teapot a few years ago. But I want to know more, so I was mildly excited about checking out Adagio. I had no expectations except the great reviews on Yelp and they proved to be completely accurate. This place was awesome! When we walked in we were cheerfully greeted and after a few minutes to breath and take everything in the lovely person behind the counter determined we were first time visitors and gave us a pleasant and non-pushy explanation of why Adagio is so wonderful. Like we couldn't already tell by the well laid out inventory, canisters of loose tea just inviting you to open and smell and touch and pots of fresh brewed tea steaming all over the store begging you to sample. We sampled everything that was out, ordered a Matcha latte with soy milk and a cup of Mocha Nut Mate, both recommended based on our taste descriptions and both delicious. We ended up purchasing several bags of loose tea (buy four get one free!) and they even made us a custom blend. I told the salesperson we enjoyed a certain name brand "cold care" herbal tea, she looked it up online, made some notes on ingredients, consulted Adagio's own book of herbs and conversed with me about the medicinal properties of each item. We agreed on a combination of items and I watched her measure and mix my blend right in front of me. Can't wait to try it the next time I'm feeling under the weather! All in all a terrific experience. They may just make a tea connoisseur of me!

I LOOOOOVVVEEE THIS STORE! The service is always fantastic, especially Quinn he's my favorite. They have most anything a tea lover could dream of and the tea tastings are an awesome way to have a great experience, learn cool things and bond with friends!

I decided to give this place another try because the owner reached out to me and that is very much appreciated in my book. Compared to my previous visit, customer service was like night and day. The associate that helped me out (I think her name was Linda) was very informative and knowledgeable about teas. She took the time to explained how the teas are packaged and the quality you receive when you purchase in small batches. I really appreciated the explanation and have a better understanding of what Adagio Teas is all about.

  • Jesus L.

This place really provides a nice tea shopping experience. They have their teas organized very nicely and they have spots set up so you can have a sample before you commit to buying! The associate "Teresa" was so helpful to me in making my choice of tea to buy. I'm a really really indecisive person and I wanted caffeine but I love bursting flavor so I had to choose between mate and black and I got to sample a couple mate but went with the black sampler AND I got a bonus sample tea to take an try at home which was awesome because it was one I was really interested in getting too but wasn't included in the sample pack! I highly recommend coming here if you're new to tea and want I try it out. Also the prices are very reasonable so no reason not to try it out if you haven't already been here.

I walked in and was instantly greeted. Everyone smiled and the worker helped me find the tea I was looking for. Great customer service!

  • Jen Z.

This place is amazing! Not only are the teas delicious and worth every penny but the customer service is impeccable. Shane and Carla, the two workers who took care of me, were exceptionally nice, knowledgeable, and really took my preferences into consideration. I walked out w a to go tea made for my upcoming cold, I was looking for a tea place to soothe my throat, and an extra boost of caffeine for my sleep deprivation. That tea was absolutely amazing I felt soothed instantly and that caffeine kicked in very nicely plus it was a special blend made by Shane the employee there. Very creative and very good I will definitely be going back and often! So next time you have an inkling for tea forget starbucks, forget teavana (stale tea is stale), and go straight to Adiago Teas you won't regret it. The only thing you'll regret is not having found this place sooner!

  • Kimberly J.

I'm still loving this store. If you like tea, this is the place for you. The tea is sold pre-packaged, either as loose tea or tea bags. This means there is no waiting around for your turn to choose and smell containers of tea that are inaccessible behind a counter. Each tea is in a jar which you may open and smell, immediately above the pre-packaged product. The staff will also happily make you a cup of tea to sample. You can also purchase a to-go tea, and there are various sorts of accessories as well - cups, tea pots, even little cookies. There is also a store not far from the shopping on North Michigan that is worth visiting if you're in the city and not in the north suburbs.

I just had a fabulous tea tasting experience with a friend of mine here. Elliott was great and very informative. We learned a lot and had a very nice time. I thought we would only be there about a half hour but we spent an hour and a half tasting and learning. I would highly recommend this to anyone that enjoys tea.

If you haven't been to Adagio Tea yet then definitely make a point to go. The selection of teas is outstanding and the prices are very reasonable. You can even order a cup of tea of your choice. Even better is the top notch customer service. The employees at Adagio are extremely nice and know their teas. Kemper and Quinn, in particular, are great. Quinn even ran out to my car, just before Christmas, and delivered the tea that I had pre-paid for when I could not find any handicap parking. Super nice of him. Definitely stop by and try a cup.

I agree with many of the sentiments expressed here, including Jean C, and Adagio's successful attempt to design shops intended "to enhance the experience of shopping." I immediately felt more at ease in this tea shop than in Teavana due to the layout, size, knowledgeable and friendly staff, and just the overall aesthetic. While I do love Teavana's teas, I don't love their prices, and I don't love their chaotic feel at times. Adagio's teas, IMO, are every bit as wonderful, if not better than Teavana's, not to mention less expensive, and I find the staff much more approachable, and the experience much more Zen-like. If I had to pick one only, I'd go with Adagio, hands down. It's just a whole 'nother vibe.

I visited Adagio today after debating whether or not to get a 400 calorie beverage from Starbucks and deciding a tea would be a far better choice. I had never been in before, but I am a major David's Tea addict & have about 40 flavors of DT in my cabinet. I thought that it didn't get any better than David's Tea in terms of finding a large variety of chocolately, sweet, dessert or fruity teas, but it does! Not only does Adagio have a wonderful selection of teas, I was informed by the lovely staff member (whose name I forgot to catch) that all the teas are allergen free-- which David's Tea absolutely cannot say (dairy, eggs, and even gelatin in their teas). Because I have such a stock pile of other teas to drink through already, I just got a single cup of Mocha Nut Mate, and sniffed around at everything else while it steeped. It was DELISH! It tasted just like DT Chocolate Rocket, but with no artificial flavors-- yay! The woman helping me gave me a sample pack to take home, which was super nice & I can't wait to drink it. I will definitely be back to try more varieties of tea asap & will probably start buying most of my tea from there! Can't beat great teas with no funky ingredients, great prices, and a friendly helpful staff!

Very friendly staff! The girl that helped me last night was awesome she made sure I got all the teas I needed. They have a sale right now buy 4 bags get the 5th bag free.

We purchased a Breville tea maker. Decided to get a quick education on teas and brewing. Went to Adagio at Old Orchard. Elliott was very knowledgeable about all the teas we inquired about. Wad a very nice experience and prices very reasonable. This place rocks.

  • Jen R.

Super fun! Clean, modern, and spacious, with tons of room to browse. And by browse I mean sniff all the goodies. Seriously, every single tea they carry is set up in a jar on the top shelf, so it's easy to open and get your tea sniff on. Below each jar you grab the stuff to buy, and they offer sample, 1.5 oz, and 8 oz sizings for purchase. So ya, you can get everything from your try-on to your buy-bulk on. They also have a cute selection of tea accessories if you're looking for a gift and can't decide on a specific tea. Bottom line, If you're ready to OD on tea sniffing, this is your place.

Very friendly staff and an open and airy store layout. Really like that their teas are in bags and not plastic bins so they are much fresher. We came in to try the Earl Grey because it's the only tea my husband drinks every morning. We sampled a cup and loved it and were thrilled to find that it only had nature flavors unlike some other brands. Lots of great accessories so we'll definitely be doing some holiday shopping here. Signed up for their loyalty program which will be paying dividends very quickly. If you love tea or want to find out if you love tea, this is the place.

I had the pumpkin spice tea and it was TO DIE FOR! I absolutely loved it! The cups that they serve in are so adorable as well. The staff was beyond friendly and engaging. What a great place to go get some tea. I highly highly recommend stopping by here! You won't be disappointed!

I almost can't believe myself for passing by this place without ever giving it a try. The greatest thing about this place, besides the incredibly knowledgeable manager known as Terrance, is the availability to sample any tea you'd like before deciding to make a purchase. (Except maybe their top-shelf teas for which I didn't bother to ask). I came in on a quiet Monday evening and Terrance was totally okay with letting me try 6 different teas as a first-timer. Freshly brewed! Even if you know you're gonna walk out of the store with a pouch, it doesn't do any harm to have a sample of the tea you're buying, right? The most interesting surprise upon visiting this store was a small corner that displayed fandom tea sets. FANDOMS?! Like those recent hit movies/TV shows that have a cult following? I wouldn't have guessed that tea blends inspired by fandoms was a thing! (Call me clueless. Whatever). BBC's Sherlock, Doctor Who, Lord of the Rings, even Pokémon! I got to smell the Elevenses blend inspired by LOTR. Vanilla oolong, cream, and white blueberry....I was sold, but I had to hold off until the next time I make a visit. I'm coming back for you, Elevenses. And you too, Second Breakfast.

Had a lovely experience at Adagio Teas. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I unfortunately cannot remember the name of the girl who was helping me, but she gave lots of helpful suggestions and prepared several tea samples for me. Wasn't planning on tea shopping, but somehow they got me, and I really don't regret it at all.

I used to go to Teavana, but now I much prefer Adagio. Honestly I find Adagio much more laid back and cheaper. As well as they have a rewards program in their system, on Groupon, and On Belly which Teavana does not have any rewards system. Another perk is that they have much more room for the teas so they have a wider selection. In addition they have the tea in little labeled zip lock bags that are arranged on the wall right below a sample of the leaves so you can smell it yourself. This is much different from Teavana where you must go to the register to have them scoop, pour, and measure your tea for you to buy it. Most bags average 3 Oz, and you can get it loose or in tea bags. The price of the bags vary from mainly around $8 to the highest being around $35. They also have tins seasonally as well as online. I suggest taking a look at them since there are a lot of people who have made blends. There are 100's if not 1,000's of blends available online including the elusive TARDIS blend adagio.com/signature_ble… . Also they do not hesitate to let you sample the tea before you buy it. Overall I found the staff very knowledgeable, and friendly. They did not pressure for sales at all, and were very helpful. UPDATE, This location no longer has Belly. Deals - Rewards system is $10 for every 100 points. $1 = 1 point. Last Friday of the month is double points day. (Wednesday for State St location) Every day deal is buy 4 get 5th free which is nice! I always spend too much here. I also recommend going on their site once you get a rewards account. For reviewing teas, and referring people you can get additional points.

My wife and I, along with a friend, went in for a tea tasting we purchased from Groupon and couldn't have had a better experience. Linda, the store manager, was in charge of our tasting and she was incredibly knowledgeable about tea in general. We were educated in each tea's history and what each are best for. The store had an amazing selection of teas and equipment to choose from as well. We will be going back for sure!

My boyfriend and I got a groupon here for a tea tasting and I was really happy I did. I had been going for Teavana for a while and have become disappointed in their service lately, so I was looking for some place new. We were educated about our choice of three teas and we sipped on them as we noshed on some tea cookies (yum). The guy leading the tea tasting was super friendly and knowledgeable. With our Groupon, we also go individual tea pots for loose leaf tea. In addition, we bought quite a few things, including tea and these cool tea steeping mugs for work. I am glad we stumbled upon this place, I just wish there was a location closer to my home! With a Yelp or Four Square check in you get a free cup of tea!

The staff was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable. When my friend and I walked in, we had no intention of buying anything and we were just curious, but the workers helped us discover teas we really liked and we both went home with new teas! Highly recommend going to this store--the tea is delicious, well-priced, and the staff and atmosphere of the store is awesome.

Cannot believe I have never heard of this great tea store! My family were just there yesterday and spent over an hour. Alexandra was the lady who helped us and was sooo amazing, we ended up buying 5 bags of different teas including matcha green tea! This tea is amazing. Will definitely be back there again!!

Tea is definitely my beverage of choice, and Adagio has it down pat. Unlike the other mall tea-store-that-shall-not-be-named, Adagio is much easier to self-navigate; their displays allow me to see and smell the tea on my own. I'd walked through the store before but this time I spent more time and was able to make use of a few Yelp deals. I checked in and got a free cup of tea, and there was a $40 for $50 deal I bought using Yelp. I used the free cup on some Pomegranate tea that was light & refreshing. The staff gladly made suggestions on which tea to get based on what I was in the mood for. The Yelp deal I used to buy their Utilitea Kettle as a gift for a friend. It's not something that's really highlighted within the store, but according to online reviews it's one of the best electric tea kettles out there. So far from what I've seen this place has great tea with decent prices for a specialty tea store. The staff is helpful and knowledgeable. Will definitely come back again to try some more of their yummy teas!

Product: Stellar Service: Stellar Ambience: Streamlined, designed, user friendly, clean First, I'm new to the tea realm. I received my first package from Adagio in the mail last week, and I'm already a fan. When I found out this week I'd be in the vicinity of an Adagio retail store, I was stoked. The experience lived up to my expectation. Product Fantastic. I've tried more than a dozen Adagio teas now between my sample pack and the in-store experience. In every case, the flavor of Adagio teas is exquisite. I may not prefer the particular blend, but that is a matter of personal preference. For the blends I do prefer, I absolutely love the (very) full flavor. So far I have tried most varieties-black, green, rooibos and oolongs (haven't tried a mate, yet). The products are packaged with easy-to-find information for the best preparation process (temperature and duration for steeping) per tea. Service I arrived at opening time, 10am, on a Saturday morning. There were two employees, but I dealt mainly with Lindsey (though the other attendant was equally friendly and helpful, I just don't know her name). Lindsey listened to my experiences so far, and guided me to similar products (which I purchased). She is very knowledgable and obviously passionate about tea. Lindsey and her co-worker aptly handled our (my wife and I) questions and tastings (we tried six varieties) while juggling the store-opening duties, handling a phone order and helping other customers. Kudos! Ambience The store layout was designed, no doubt. Every tea is presented so that customers can open a canister to smell before trying. I, in fact, opened every canister. The tea packages are easy to reach, and easy to read. The products are on display along the walls of the store with the service bar in the center of the store. The attendants never seem far away, and there are no aisles to navigate. I was in the store for over an hour and didn't once feel I was in the way of other customers or vice versa. Every product (teas or tea ware) is accessible. Interaction with the product is simple and encouraged. It's obvious Adagio took some cues from the Apple retail experience. It's working. I will be sure to stop in to an Adagio retail store any time I'm in the area.

The sweet lady that waited on me was a wealth of knowledge. It was the perfect balance of energy and knowledge that gives you the confidence to make an informed decision. Great selection of teas at fair prices. I particularly like the fact that they know the growers and chose organic growers. I will be back.

My new favorite place. I've tried teavanna and dislike is a mild way of putting how I feel about them. I stumbled in here one afternoon wanting an iced tea. The staff was knowledgeably and recommended a great one ( they can make anything they have in store). While I was there I sampled an incredible green tea that I had to have. I've been trying to like green tea for decades, but its too bitter for me. Adagio had the perfect one and I can drink it without any sugar. Salespeople are helpful, not pushy and its pleasant to shop there ( unlike teavanna where they shove merchandise in your face until you buy it all or leave).

  • Reid B.

If you like tea, you can't go wrong. There is such a huge variety of teas you are bound to find something you like along with any accessories you may need. The staff was also extremely helpful and willing to answer any questions which was a huge bonus in my book. Christmas shopping for the females in my family became a million times easier when I found this place!

I had a expired groupon worth $20 for $40 and they redeemed it for the full price and also accommodated me since I couldn't reserve it. So I just told them if it was alright if I can just get the tea cup and they said yeah. We got to try couple of samples and bought some tea sample and they gave in some extra for free. The sample had four of each type from green, oolong, herbal, and more. I think it was a good mix, and a good deal. Very friendly and great selection.

This is a great tea shop and the best I have been to thus far. I went for the first time last Saturday with a friend and had a wonderful experience. It is a spacious shop with a wide selection. In addition, you can get loose tea or teabags as both are offered for all teas. I like that they have the teas in jars so you can look and smell the teas before you buy. I also want to mention that the staff is very friendly and helpful without being overbearing. We were helped by Aleksandra and she was awesome and gave us suggestions. We got a chance to sample the Alice in Wonderland tea and left the store with quite a few teas. Aleksandra even threw in a few free samples for us to try at home. I will definitely be coming back and highly recommend this place.

I am hooked on this place! Walked in looking for decaf green tea and walked out with 5 pouches of tea. I mentioned to the gals how I love coffee but can't drink much of it and they recommended a blend of teas that tastes just like a hazelnut coffee! Will be back.

Super cute tea shop!!! SO many choices and interactive displays. You can smell/sample whatever tea you want (and tea cookies), they have a buy 4 get 1 free deal, and the girl who was working was super nice and helpful! So glad I went in on a cold February night...my friends and I spent a really long time in here smelling the teas and just enjoying the ambiance. Their products are a bit pricy, but definitely worth it because...their tea is DELICIOUS!!! You can taste the quality...which is very rare. Free cup of tea check-in offer doesn't hurt either :)

I didn't actually make a purchase when I was here, but the employee was super nice. He showed us all the teas and gave us a little overview of the place... He also offered us the tea-flight thing, where you can test multiple different teas. I think this is a FABULOUS idea, and I wish that Teavana did the same thing!! But.. the down side is, I just didn't really care for the tea itself. I'm hooked on Teavana. I say CHEERS to this place - they've got a beautiful store. This place may be to vegetal for me - I like the fruitier froo-froo stuff. So I'm sure there's another huge market out their that would prefer this place. Great store - Yes I recommend

Adagio teas is now the only place I buy tea. They are so helpful and I love that I can smell and even taste teas I may be interested in. I usually get in a habit of drinking the same two teas a day and the staff has been so helpful in suggesting other teas I may like based on my preferences and they have been spot on several times now, of course you sometimes have to taste something you don't end up loving to find your new favorite. But It's so worth it! (I'm now obsessed with the earl grey green tea!)

Today was my first visit to Adagio Teas, and will not be my last! I love that you can smell and look at all of the teas, and they have a ridiculously large variety to choose from. You can even mix and match to make your own tea blend! The staff (Aleka in particular) was wonderful - they made me a few different samples to help with my decision, and even made me a cup of tea to take home. I can't wait to drink my tea, and I will definitely be back!

Adagio is a really good store and offers a very pleasant shopping experience. I buy teacher gifts from Adagio and not only are they nice to give but I believe they are nice to receive and make a superb alternative to the "starbucks gift card" that everyone seems to give these days. The staff at the Old Orchard store took a lot of time with me today to figure out what would make the best gift (I was buying for 7 teachers) - much appreciated!

This was my first visit to Adagio Teas at the Skokie location. Terrance displayed such enthusiasm and knowledge about the teas, I couldn't wait to share them as well. I purchased teas for my husband and co-workers! Will definitely be back again. Vickie M

I can't go to Old Orchard and NOT come to Adagio Teas. There's just no way. I've been a fan of Adagio Teas since it first opened. From the moment you walk in (after tasting the delicious free samples of teas outside, of course), its a wonderful browsing/shopping extravaganza. The layout and design of the store is ingenious, encapsulated by the gorgeous lighting and the manner in which the teas are displayed. All in see-through containers, of which you can pop the tops and get a whiff of any and every blend of tea you desire. The staff is always warm and inviting. I'm consistently blown away by how knowledgeable they are about their stock. They'll even know altered/discontinued teas when I mention I'm looking for them and are able to recommend something similar. Its because of them I never leave this store empty handed. Adagio is a far cry from its direct competitor, Teavana, which I always found to be outrageously expensive and difficult to traverse. You don't have to be a tea snob to appreciate what Adagio has to offer. From sample sizes to 16 oz. bags, from loose leaf to full leaf and tons of utterly gorgeous teaware, even if you're a complete noob, there is something for everyone here.

Yesterday was my first visit to Adagio Teas. The first thing I liked was the ability to see and smell what the teas are like. There wasn't the pushy sales person trying to push a sale. Instead, I was encouraged to ask for samples to taste of any tea in the store. I loved the they offer a free Kids Cup of tea. My daughter loved the Alice In Wonderland tea. Their prices are slightly cheaper than Teavana. Will definitely return!

I stopped in and was immediately greeted and helped by Terrence. I was curious about a $39 Japanese green tea and he made me two samples brewed at different temps. Completely different taste in each cup from the same tea. I ended up buying 4 bags of loose tea, getting a 5th free, along with a free sampler of 5 more teas. Great value!

My friend and I came here for a private tea-tasting event Saturday afternoon. I felt so bad because I was late, but the staff member was so easy-going that he didn't mind. I had no idea about any type of tea or how and where it's made. He was very knowledgeable and even gave us more than we should've gotten. I would have to say that it is definitely my pick over Teavana. Not to mention, it is affordable. We got to sample Mango Green tea, Wild Strawberry, and Ginger Peach tea. All smelled and tasted great. We also got tea cookies in 3 flavors: Honey, Chai, and White Blueberry. I was very satisfied with this "tea party". Going back there soon!

Love the tea, love the staff, love the store. Hands down a better (and less snooty) shopping experience than at the Teavana in the same mall.

  • Jason A.

This place blows Teavana away! It is set up so that you can examine and smell each tea before purchasing, whereas at Teavana you have to ask an employee to take a tin from the wall and waft it your way. Adagio also has a much better selection of tea, both the regular unflavored, and the type with pieces of fruit and flowers. The prices are also MUCH cheaper than Teavana. Check in on yelp for a free cup of tea to go!

What a great big space to explore the world of tea. What a huge selection of teas and tea blends. I love that their tea is already packaged with the option of either bags or loose. The staff didn't hover or ignore me. They were close and accessible for questions or suggestions. I'll be back soon! The teas are lovely.

Love at 1st Sip! This is my all-time favorite tea shop. They not only have dozens of loose teas to choose from they also offer a variety of teas in bags- which is super handy when I'm shopping for teas for my mother. This place is fantastic, really. I mean you walk in and get to try around 3-4 freshly brewed teas of the day and if you check-in on Yelp you automatically get a large cup of tea, FREE. You pick the tea and how you want it as well. They also keep a credit on how much you purchase and once you reach 100 credits ($100) they give you $10 off your next purchase and if you're anything like me and you shop here quite a bit you get REAALLLY excited when it's that time to collect your $10 credit because $10 in credit can buy you up to two 3oz. bags of tea. Fucking Awesome.

Did some research on line for Adagio to see what flavors of tea caught my eye. I am cutting down my coffee intake and starting to drink more tea. After deciding on a few flavors I waked into the store and was immediately greeted by Lindsey and told her what I was looking for in a tea, caffeine, fruity and flavorful. She suggested a forrest berry tea mixed with a herbal blend called berry bliss. She brewed me a sample and it was a great taste, and exactly what I wanted. I purchased a few more flavors (chocolate & cinnamon for me and a hazlenut and also a apricot green for friends who are avid tea drinkers. The price points are very good, teas are accessible to smell, friendly staff all of this combined with a good array of teas makes this a place I will return and recommend to friends. If you stop in, ask for Lindsey and she will take care of you.

I can't say enough good things about this place. Jason is incredibly knowledgeable on the subject of tea, and if it's not busy he's happy to educate you on the subtleties of the different crops. The pricing is very fair, and after you finish the 10 glasses of tea from your tasting, there's enough caffeine in your system to blast past the designer strollers to your next destination in the mall without actually touching the ground. If you want blends that taste like Chanel number 5, scoot on down to Teavana. If you want single source heirloom Chinese teas hand harvested the same way they have been for centuries by artisan masters, Check out Adagio. It's essentially the difference between a Mondavi blend and Chateau Montelena Cab reserve.

Will never come here again. My husband who is Caucasian and I being Latin came in together with our children hoping to purchase teas for our family. The female attendant clearly overlooked me and asked my husband if he needed some assistant while I stood a foot away in front of him. My husband knowingly upset replied, why don't you ask her, she is with us. The attendant turned around and asked if I needed help. I said no thank you and we walked out. Can't believe this still happens. Very sad.

I came here with a friend for a Groupon tea tasting. Jen was the person who worked with us. She was extremely knowledgeable and upbeat! I learned so much and left with a better understanding of the tea world (much bigger than I realized). I also purchased some tea & I am very happy with my choices. It was a great experience!

My boyfriend - who is a HUGE tea fan and somewhat of an expert - and I went into Adagio last night and it was a genuine pleasure shopping there. The man behind the counter was incredibly friendly and helpful and the teas were all incredible. I purchased a caramel black tea and I'm in love with it. If you're looking for great and fairly affordable loose leaf tea, this is the place to go.

I love tea! I so glad that I found this place when I was working in Westfield. I have a handful of favorites that I get religiously but every time I am in the staff show me something new. They are so helpful and are one of the main reasons I will keep going back. I also love that you can smell and sample the tea before purchasing.

First time at adagio teas... Jen, Terrance, and Aleka were so incredibly helpful. We had a million and one questions and spent an hour there ending just after closing time. In retail ourselves we value the patience and appreciate the welcoming environment they created for us. The prices are great and Jen really helped us understand that... Six bags of tea and a tin later, I only spent about $35 and my friend spent about $50 for five teas and a tumbler! We're both super happy with our purchases. Old orchard is not nearly around the corner for us but we will definitely make the trek back in hopes of catching one of those three there again, or to meet more of their lovely staff!!

Awesome place with such a huge selection.... trust me when I say you're gonna need a tea-guru just to guide your through the tour-de-taste. Located near the Cheesecake Factory, Adagio Teas has a TON of teas at very reasonable prices. I bought a bunch of pre-bagged teas of such an awesome flavor for under 12 bucks. Pretty good! Ask to try ANY flavors and they will brew up a decent sized cup.... for free! All the people are very chill and down to earth. So pick a flavor, ask to try it, and have some nice convo with Adagio people.

  • Nari H.

As far as a very good tea store is concerned, this is it. A smattering selection of teas, and it's decently priced. I can get a good bag of teas, 15 servings for about $6... which if I go to a normal foodstore and get some of my favorite teas, I can be paying more than $ 6 for a box. This was my first time, and I'm still trying things out, but the people behind the counter were super friendly and knowledgeable. Plus, you can smell and sample teas freshly. Tip: If you buy 4 bags of tea, you get the 5th free, so if you and/or your friends love tea, this might just be the place for you!

Yesterday I had one of the most unbelievable experiences ever happen to me in a store. Sometime ago I purchased a gift worth close to 100.00 dollars. The gift was to be sent to Calif. Over the weekend we mentioned to our receiver if he liked the gift? His response was" What gift?" Since this transaction took place months ago, I didn't remember which credit card I used or had a receipt. I went back through my bank statements for one card, the other card told me it would take a few days. With that, I went into the Adagio store expecting "Wel,l without a receipt we can't do anything." In fact, not only was this not the case, I was apologized to and asked if I knew about what I had spent. The manager, Tammy, immediately put together what she thought I said I had sent, and threw in some cookies to boot. I gave her the address again, I bought a card, and she said she would send it out that afternoon, with again the sincerest of apologies. The experience was dumbfounding. Should you ever want to take lessons on how to improve your business, this should be your first stop. Thank you for making this process so accommodating. Robin

What a lovely store this is. It would seem that Adagio has put as much thought into its retail outlets as it has with its products. Everything has been designed to enhance the experience of shopping there as well as ensuring that you can continue the same high level of tea enjoyment at home. I sound like an advertisement, don't I? The fact is that I was very impressed with this place, and the willingness of the sales staff to work with me to find teas I enjoyed. From small containers of tea on the shelf which you're encouraged to sniff, to actually having a small cup brewed for you if you want to sample the teas which interest you, Adagio seems to be focused on ensuring that you get exactly what you like. If you love tea, this is a place to come and commune with the leaf.

I took my boyfriend to see if we could find him a tea that he would like and Lindsay asked us a few questions about tea so she could find a few teas for us to try. Lindsay is awesome! She knows her tea very well and takes the time to explain and show you the different teas your interested in. She picked out a few different oolong teas (my boyfriend's favorite type of tea) and of course he liked the most expensive one out of the bunch. :) She suggested a much cheaper tea that was similar to the one he liked but still liked the Twilight Ti Kuan Yin better. Will be buying most of my teas here. Writing another review soon.

Ask for Jen... she's awesome! I came in there just to look around and in turn, Jen gave me a great introduction to the store and all their different teas... I'm an instant fan. I'm writing this review while enjoying my first cup of hazelnut tea.

I got a tea steeper for Christmas. I now drink Adagio tea at least once a day using the loose leaf tea. The last time I was in this store, the staff was so friendly and enthusiastic about the products, which was fun and engaging!

I had the best experience at Adagio Teas yesterday. I walked in looking for green tea and was greeted by Eric a sales guy. He went through the best green tea options for iced tea. he then brewed a cup of each tea, explained the differences and served them to me both hot and cold and he went through the proper way to make tea. He was so helpful and patient with me answering all of my questions (I had a ton) I live in the city, but will be buying all of my tea from Adagio from this point forward. Thank you Eric for all of your help!!!!!!

This place deserves a shout out. One employee served us a free "tea flight" so we got to sample four different teas. He spent a lot of time with us explaining the different teas, beyond what we already know. We had a vanilla rooibos, which I purchased, as well as black pearl tea, mocha nut matte and vanilla green tea. All the teas were delicious and "properly" brewed. Apparently this made all the difference because the black tea was the smoothest I've ever tried. The place also offers meditation and tea classes, and the best part for an extra few bucks per oz, you can make your own tea. Alex Tea, yum yum :).

Initially, I stayed away, feeling this was just another boutique store looking to grab my dollar by overpricing something I can get cheaper at Trader Joe's. I did, however, stop in occasionally to grab a cup of green mint tea. Let me tell you, this stuff is as good as it gets. So fragrant, warming and utterly delicious. So I stopped in yesterday to grab a cup of magic and decided to browse. I picked up a bag of loose leaf pumpkin spice and a bag of loose leaf cinnamon. WOW!. This stuff is so full of flavor, it warms you from the toes up. I'm not sure how they do it but it is really fantastic. I sipped the cinnamon even after it was cold and sitting in my car for awhile and it was still great! I joined the points program and plan on returning soon. As for my initial thought on the cost, it is far more economical than buying your favorite cup out. Get a steeper and make it at home anytime.

I went here for the first time to purchase a cast iron tea pot as a gift and I had a great experience. the store is clean and has a very nice lay out. the staff was super knowledgable and friendly and didn't do a hard sales pitch or try to oversell things to me. I haven't been much of a tea drinker lately but I swear this experience made me want to become one.

I love this place. And I, generally, do not like tea. They have a wide selection (this is their medium-sized store at the time of this review- Naperville is largest, and State is smallest. However, their full selection of tea is available on their website.) I've been there twice, and the first time, the staff was incredibly helpful. My boyfriend and I were the only ones in the store, so it was pretty nice. He loves tea, and was in absolute heaven. I've become a huge fan of their herbal teas, specifically wild strawberry and blood orange. I ordered some more online an hour ago, and I'm eagerly waiting. The second time we went there we were with my mom, since she was curious as to the place we were in love with. The staff there wasn't as amazing, though it was still pretty helpful. They have this really informative lecture, I think specifically pertaining to oolong / white teas, since you can re-brew some of them, and the flavor tastes different each time. It's really interesting, especially when you see how the leaves change. I can see how the staff can be kind of elitist, though, especially since the first time we went there, the guy seemed like a know-it-all hipster. At least he didn't brag about it. I strongly recommend signing up for their rewards program if you ever go there. Outdoor seating is referring to the courtyard it shares with the mall.

I came to Adagio for my first US tea tasting. Derek guided us through an array of teas from all over the world. I enjoyed every sip. I highly recommend a tasting for anyone interested in learning more about tea and/or wanting to take their tea experience beyond the basics. This place is colorful, full of different loose teas to excite your senses, cute gift set, and yummy tea cookies. My new fav. from them is the mango green tea and the vanilla roobis chai. I also lover the affordable of great quality tea. I left Adagio feeling warm and health from all the great teas I just drank. I am looking forward to my next visit.
