Best Chinese take out place in B/N. Their Singaporean noodle is the best!

My roommates and I got delivery from this place one night while at school. I ordered something from their "diet" section: steamed shrimp, scallops, chicken, vegetables, and rice, with a sauce on the side (I chose teriyaki). As most know, it's hard to eat healthy Chinese, but I was impressed. The portion was generous and very delicious.

I used to order from these guys every wednesday night. That's how much I love it. My favorite order is General's Tofu and Veggie Fried Rice. It's just delicious. What I love is that the fried rices are light and not greasy, they're flavorful and fresh. The vegetables are crisp and tasty. I love it! Anything that has a sauce on it, though, tastes like it'll give you a heart attack. But they still taste delicious. I mean, amazing. The food is fast and fresh. And occasionally they'll mess up an order on me (twice out of countless times) but they're always fast to fix the problem. One call and the delivery guy is on his way with what they forgot. I love this place.

I would give them 5 stars fir their food but they have the worst customer service ever!! I live 5 minutes away and delivery takes over an hour. Plus the people that work there are rude. But really good food, if you don't mind terrible staff.

Extremely noisy strip mall joint (with pictures on the wall) that serves large portions of very, very mediocre American Chinese food. Go to Mandarin Garden instead; more expensive, but worth the difference.

Fast. Not amazing fare, but will do in a pinch.

When I lived in Normal, I ordered take-out from Great Wall frequently, mostly out of habit. We got to know eachother well, Great Wall and I. Good Points: Oh, the things they know about deep-frying tofu. The texture, the almighty texture. I loved it so much I'd often forego the vegetables and just order a large container of deep-fried 'fu in brown sauce. If you call ahead for take-out, their estimate is almost always ten to fifteen minutes. Reasonable prices (usually around $20 for two entrees), good flavor, and a decent variety. Not-So-Good Points: Do not eat in at Great Wall ever, unless you'd like to feel utterly pathetic. No one eats in at Great Wall, and for good reason. The ambiance is abysmal. Their food can be a little inconsistent. From time to time I would find bits of a mysterious red jelly in my usual brown-sauced dish. If your stomach is sensitive to grease, you may want to reconsider. If you're craving Chinese, Great Wall will do you a solid. Not exemplary, but pleasing nonetheless.

I recently ordered a Mongolian Beef and it literally had maybe 2 oz. of beef at the most. It was ALL onion and awful! I had my two tiny pieces of beef and threw the rest away. I also recently ordered a Garlic Shrimp that had maybe 4 pieces of shrimp in it. Prior to that I ordered a seafood soup that had all "filler" in it - minimal good stuff like shrimp, crab, corn, etc. it was all broccoli and filler. Not good. I feel that this place really skimps on the quality of food and I don't recommend it at all.

My daughter loves Great Wall and I like the price but be very cautious. I kid you not if you go to the Mclean County Health Dept restaurant inspections you will see 9 times out of 11 when Great Wall has an unexpected inspection it fails horribly. I can't trust that they are responsible enough to care about the customer safety and provide proper sanitation and food temperatures. My health isn't worth the risk. I will no longer patronize Great Wall !!!!!

Quintessential greasy chinese place that offers huge portions and wonderful value. I would order off the board if ordering for one...the prices are 1990sesque (5.50 for a full meal) and the portions are more than satisfying for this big man. Tip- If you like things with some kick...even a little, ask for your dishes to be extra spicy...and for the general Tso's or Thai Chan chicken (or I suppose any deep fried chicken dish) ask for the dish to be prepared extra crunchy if you like crunchy/breaded style dishes. Try the Thai Chan Chicken. Another tip is if you aren't wild about the egg roll option you can always ask for extra broccoli in your dish instead....or like 3 crab rangoons.

compared to china town in Chicago or LA this place doesn't compare and is definitely extremely Americanized. Place is definitely hit or miss depending on what you order. I recommend the mongolian beef, hunan chicken, orange chicken, and the singapore angel hair. But for what it is, and being located in central Illinois it is solid chinese food and prices are extremely affordable. Even though i'm giving it 2 stars it is one of the only chinese places in bloomington that i'd recommend.

I just gave this place its last chance and they failed again. What's the difference between spicy xx, Hunan xx and sezchuan xx ?? NOTHING. They all come out the same way with 20% protein and 80% onions. I've come to realize the owner uses onions (and to some degree celery) as a cheap filler for all his dishes as a replacement for the more expensive ingredients like bamboo shoots, lemon grass or basically any other veg. I took a pic of something that's supposed to be spicy shrimp but is obviously a plastic tray of onions. From now on I'm going to panda or the Thai place in the old Kmart mall.

The food is very good and at a reasonable price but the customer service is garbage. Most days when you order the person taking your order is very rude and I mean rude. I know it's not much to turn away from this place but if I pay money for your food I expect some kind of respect

this has become my "go to" for chinese carry out. Portion sizes are huge, food is always piping hot, veggies are crisp and green and the egg rolls are great. One entree is usually enough for two people. Biggest drawback is they are really busy so a call in can become a long wait on hold. They do deliver, but I've always used the carry out. They also have a small dining area, but it's just too noisy being that close to a busy kitchen to dine in for me.

Food quality was good. I liked all that I ate for the most part. 3 stars is because the inside of the restaurant was gross. Not taken care of at all. They have storage (boxes, coats, etc.) right in the middle of their "dining room". Also the customer service was non existent. I could hardly tell that the guy taking our order was talking to us because he never once looked at me or acknowledged what I said. Maybe I'll go back sometime, but I will probly just go to another dime a dozen chinese place.

If you like good Asian food in a hurry for eat in or take out this is a good stop. Portions are large my wife and I usually split an entree. My regular dish is the Double Delight with garlic sauce. Egg rolls are good too.

They have never let me down. Food is out quick and hot and served to your table. Take out is average time based on how busy they are. Food is always brought as ordered. Including small to very large orders. Small area to sit and eat. Could be nicer but a good place to grab a quick bite. Not a first date type of place unless you don't mind the relax feel. Lots of can soda selections. Prices are great for the amount of good.

Great Chinese! We've ordered take out a few times now and have been happy every time. There is an eat-in area available, but it is super-casual booths designed more for a quick in and out than anything else. The portions are generous, and if you are looking to save some calories, their light options (steamed meat and veggies with the sauce on the side) are really good. If you want spicy, ask for it. Their default is "Illinois Spicy" , so it barely registers if you are used to a bit more.

You can always count on them! The menu is your standard Chinese takeout food, but it's reasonably priced and tastes awesome. We really love their dumpling soup!

This is my favorite Bloomington-Normal Chinese take-out restaurant. It was at first hard to come out to school here and not know who has the best Chinese, and after a few misses and a suggestion from an acquaintance, I found the Great Wall. I will order shrimp egg foo young while my fiancé will order something similar to orange chicken, General Tso's chicken, or whatever it may be. We both found this place to be affordable and you get a lot of food for what you pay!

Use to be good but ever since new ownership took over it is horrible!!!! Food is gross! To bad, hope they turn it around!

Called for carry out and they hung up on me. Used to enjoy their carry out, but haven't had great service lately.

This had previously been our go-to Chinese take out place, but our most recent experience was very mediocre. I got the sesame chicken and my husband got his general tso's chicken, which he usually orders. They were fine, but it just was not the same quality as before AND they didn't include fortune cookies. We will probably be ordering from somewhere else next time.

Being a such a city slicker, I am not accustomed to dining from a strip mall. Great Wall seems primarily a carry out location, although they do have several booths to eat at. My companion and I split two entrees, pork moo shu and General Tso's chicken. I think most of my attention went to the General Tso's, it was drizzled in just the right amount of sweet spicy sauce, and the massive amounts of chicken were fried to perfection. I also had a cup of wonton soup to warm up and that seemed to be a meal in itself. Service was super friendly. Dinner for 5 with tea and extra fixings ran $40, with lots of leftovers to take home. Not a bad deal at all.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
