One year later and I still LOVE this place! The owner is super nice and attentive. Very fair- The Al Pastor tacos are out of this world *amazing*. The menudo is the best I've had since moving to Joliet.

This place is good but don't expect this place to be the typical tacos, tortas and burritos place. They do have it on the menu but there are things on the menu that are soo much better! They are known for the barbecoa (it's on the sign). Like a roasted lamb, very good. They make their tortillas fresh, so good. The table salsas are not the typical green and red. One is a chipotle base and the other is a roasted tomato, also very good. Think outside the box and order one of their specialty dishes, the alambres are particularly good (steak, ham, bacon, onion, peppers sautéed together and covered in cheese)

I concur with the other reviewer as the prices were higher and wasn't the best place to go for traditional Mexican fare. Been here twice, the first time I made the mistake of getting a burrito and a torta, one to enjoy now and the other to keep my stomach occupied during my graveyard shift at work. Ended up eating both as the portions were indeed that small. I tasted more tortilla in my al pastor burrito & bread in my barbacoa torta while both were just ok flavor wise. Wanted to give them a second attempt realizing I didn't try their house specialties. This time, I dined in and we got the Barbacoa de Borrego, which for $14.99 you got a pound of barbacoa meat with tortillas, and ordered a bowl of consome de barbacoa with onions/cilantro on the side ($4.25). It was good, but thought it was kinda high for the price and quantity we were given. The server was very nice, but ran into some communication problems when I inquired towards a menu item. There were also problems with payment when I tried paying with a credit card as they used a tablet for purchases and the waitress didn't know how to operate it, so I instead paid cash. Seemed new so it wasn't too much of a bother. Not bad overall, but $32 for 2 people for Mexican fare is high for Joliet, especially with the portions not being much.

since this place first opened up, i wanted to check it out, yet i never had the chance to go. i ended up stopping by a few days ago, at like 8:15. they usually close at 8 o'clock yet the owner very nicely welcomed us in and did a wonderful job at serving us & making sure we felt satisfied. great food ! love it !

The chips and Salsa were really good. However, if your looking for a good Torta or Burrito this isn't the spot. Food was just okay, they really skimped on the steak on my Torta. Food is a little bit overpriced- $6.50 for a Torta and it was small portioned. My Father, ordered a gordita and it wasn't good. A traditonal Gordita doesn't Have Lettuce or tomatoes on it. To be honest, we were disappointed w/ the food( Tortas, Burritos, Gorditas). On the positive side, we tried their barbacoa( steamed braised lamb), and it was very good. The tortillas were also homemade.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
