Haven't been here in a while. Pam our server was incredible! I had the Turkey Pesto Panini sandwich which was perfect. Love the TV'S and the atmosphere of this place. Pam was AWESOME!

I actually like this place a lot. It's a little different than your average Buffalo Wild Wings, but in a good way. The drinks are good, and the appetizers are delicious. They've got plenty of TVs and always play relevant games, and it's never very crowded. The wings are dark meat which normally isn't served, but they're really tasty. Even though my coworkers didn't approve, the bartender started sending them water instead of drinks because he didn't want them to be too drunk to drive home. I appreciate when people actually care about people instead of money. Check this place out.

My first time at Heroes at this location. Fabulous service. Tons of food options. Their waffle fries are the best. It's Typically a sports bar and we were there for lunch. There was a baby shower all ages and plenty of food choices. Your typical bar menu plus entrees. We had an order of fried mushrooms and they were great and cheap 4.99. My mom and I both wanted the old school taco salad. My mom has a sensitivity to spicy so she asked the waitress about how spicy. She said she would check and brought back a sample for her to Try. That's service! I think her name was Valerie. But she was so attentive and thorough. Tacos salad was a good treat and tasty. Whatever u get here will be good.

Been coming here since it was opened. Even went to the old location when it was on Jefferson. Love the newer location. Roomy, outdoor area with multiple sets of bags and great food. The Blacked Chicken Breast Sandwich on raisin toast with havarti cheese, bacon and jalapeno aioli dressing is the BEST SANDWICH I HAVE EVER HAD. I have gotten 2 people addicted to it already. Look forward to watching many NFL games to come there this season. Decent drink prices and great service. Nicole, Pam, Morgan, Amanda and Lisa just to name a few of winning servers. All seem to be attentive and enjoy their job. Thanks girls and thanks Hero's for a great local business. A customer for life you have here.

This place is so clean! Good food. Plenty of good beer. Wait staff is friendly and prices are good. I've been here twice and twice I've enjoyed!

First time there for lunch today and definitely the last. Always heard good things about the food and environment but man. Sadly disappointed. It was my coworkers and I; and did not have a extremely difficult order. 4 salads, 2 sandwiches and shrimp and yet all the salads were bad. Watered down dressing...toppings UNDER the salad itself And had zero flavor. Waited for 45 min for the food itself. The waitress was not attentive to the table. Yes it was lunch time but there was plenty of staff in our section for such a busy place.

Arrived about 2 PM Sunday 5/31 was advised of a 5-10 minute wait. No problem right? 30 minutes later there were at least 5 open tables within sight, of the 6 or 7 occupied tables in front of us 2 had been served, it took 1 table 20 minutes to get their beverages and to order, and the rest looked aggravated while waiting at least the whole time we were there without food. We finally decided this would not end well, handed the pager back to a clueless hostess and proceeded to Burger King. These folks know how to make Burger King totally satisfying!

I've eaten at Heroes a number of times and it is consistently good. We have always experienced good service and a friendly staff. The menu is very diverse and I can always find something new to try. The location is a bit off the beaten path, but being close to the highway obviously has its advantages. Todays meal consisted of iced tea (A), Beef Vegetable Soup (A) and the Berkshire Pork Belly in a Bourbon Glaze Sliders (A++++++) The Sliders were honestly one of the most tasty and unique sandwiches I have ever eaten. I was amazed! I ate until I nearly burst, I just couldn't leave on bit on the plate. Now, pork belly is usually relatively fatty so you have to be OK with that before you order or you will not like the meal. The Bourbon glaze was superb. I really cant compare it to any other sauce that I've eaten, it is truly unique!!

its a fun sports bar. Good thing we made reservations, we only had to wait for a table for a half hour. food tasted great -- wife had a burger, says the flavor was delicious and the portions were huge. I was a little disappointed with a BBQ sampler. Food's flavor was spot on, everything tasted great, but I don't know if I got extra st louis ribs instead of rib tips or I'm just too dumb to know the difference. Also had a minor issue with the temperature of the food... some of the ribs were downright cold, others mildly warm (i.e., prepared in a microwave) We're not from around here, and the place is right near our hotel, so it was a convenience thing, but I think I'd still come back (and order something different) again

We were starving and this restaurant hit the spot! The wings were fantastic, better than I expected and my burger was delicious! It wasn't very busy the night we were there and I can say the service was excellent. I will make an effort to stop here again when I am passing through!

Been here many times with people from work, few times by myself and a couple times for work events. The food is okay and the big burgers are a novelty worth seeing. Don't stray to the high end items, they don't come out well (steak and fish entrees). Also prices are moderate--most common beers are $3-5. They have a good craft beer selection now with decent prices. They have bags/cornhole outside and a nice patio which is good for smokers. Occasionally they have Quizzo/Trivia which was really very hard when I went. I'm pretty sure most people cheated on their phones. Also sometimes there's live music which gets loud and crazy. The staff can be okay or kinda bad, but never terrible. Sitting at the bar or table you'll get the same kind of service.

We live nearby and live coming here in a whim. Wednesday's are our favorite day to come, given they have 60cent wings and lots of beer specials. The wait staff is mostly friendly and the wait times are relatively low. The bathrooms are immaculate and always clean. Very nice for a bar. We come her with our kids and never have a problem being seated promptly or getting a booth away from the main crowd.

I went 2 nights in a row last week when I was on the road for work. The food is definitely just a 3. But I round this up to a 4 overall due to the atmosphere, service/staff, and beer list. They have a great selection of beers. I went on a Wednesday and a Thursday. It was crowded both nights but not at full capacity.

As a life-long resident of Joliet, I've eaten here many times. This review is for my dinner experience last night. We had about a 10 minute wait, which was no problem. I enjoyed the patty melt well done, which was cooked how I asked and tasted great as usual. My friends enjoyed their various salads and sandwiches, as well. My only complaint was the service. Our waitress was very nice and apologetic, but we hardly saw her and it took longer than usual to get drinks, food, and the bill. She kept running by and saying she was sorry and she would be right back, but then wouldn't come back until we flagged her down. After we were seated we probably waited 20 minutes before she came over to even take our drink order or anything and she even said she knew we were waiting too long. One of my friends works at a restaurant herself and even she thought the service was slow last night. Our server had one very large table next to us and I'm sure she had other tables as well so this probably affected the service. I know it's not always like this, so I'll be back.

Joe thanks for the reply. I met a friend who works in the area foe lunch and he recommended your place because it was close to his office. I'll definitely come back out. You have a lot of items on your menu that I want to try

Passing thru town, the restaurant was next to the hotel we stayed in. They offered take out service and our food was done quickly and ready on time, Rib Eye steaks were done perfectly (and tender enough to cut with plastic utensils!). Better them most steak houses!

6 pages of craft beers! Bison burgers! Waffle fries! Definitely making a return trip. Somehow got a BOOTH for 2 on a packed Saturday night. That usually doesn't happen elsewhere. I like booths.

Ate there with friends one night. They were not busy but our waitress was very unattentive. I was eating a hamburger when I realized I was chewing on a long hair. We finally got our waitresses attention and when I showed her the hair she just looked at me so I asked for the manager. He came and said"we don't purposely serve hair with our food". He offered to replace my food which I declined. He didn't charge for the food but they both were kind of blase about the situation. Meanwhile I'm grossed out because I was chewing on that long hair! Bottom line customer service stunk and I'll never go back.

I'm here far to often. It's good, and really the only place in the immediate area to have a sit down meal that's not fast food. Food is good, clean place, wait staff is hit or miss, and tons of TVs to watch from really any seat in the house. My kids like it here too since there are some video games and a grabber game. In summer they have a outdoor patio with bags set up as well. Overall is a good place.

As a 30 yr Joliet resident I have watched the restaurant move locations change food and beer selections. The largest problem with this place is the service it simply sucks. The owners must not care and the on site managers must lack to ability to train the staff. Beer selections are usually not available but on the menu which is problematic. Food has really gone down hill. It's sad such potential but no one seems to care. Don't go there you will be disappointed !!

What a fun place. I met a friend here on a Friday afternoon and it was full to the rim with people. (Mostly men if your looking for a date) As soon as I saw the Cuban sandwich on the specials menu I had to try it. It came out in short order and I noticed something immediately wrong. My fries were a pile of burnt crumbs and my date who had the fish and chips got nice golden fries? I don't ever send anything back as I know what happens on it's journey to and from. The sandwich was very good though. Crispy as it the fries, it stayed just a bit to long in the Panini press. But the taste was right on the money. This seems like an alright place to hang out with friends. It is clean and the service was exceptional.

I went to heroes West tonight for a charity that my coworker told me about. It was my first time going to heroes West. There was a game on and no matter where you look you could see the screen and you could hear it through the many many many speakers they have around the restaurant. The food was amazing the proportions were huge. If you want to have a conversation skip this place: if you want great food and to watch the game this is the perfect place. This was written a while back and i just found out it was never posted so better late than never. lol

The food is mediocre at best. The ranch fries were epic--lots of cheese and bacon. Yummy! The sandwiches were a total disappointment. My partner ordered the southwest chicken wrap. It was clearly made several days ago and stored in the fridge. The avocado inside the sandwich looked super old and when the sandwich was served, it was ice cold. I ordered the turkey pesto panini. It was meh. The waitress was very friendly even though she never refilled my drink as promised. We were just passing through and will never come back if we happen to be in this neck of the woods again.

This place has some of the best bar food I have ever ate. I had the blackened tilapia sandwich & my husband had the prime rib. It was all fantastic. Good service too. Great vegetarian options too! Can't wait to go back.

I've been a long time Hero's customer going back to the Raynor and Jefferson St. days. Back in the days gone passed, Hero's was known for their hamburgers. Simple, delicious and usually cooked quite well. But not anymore...aside from having the perfect buffalo wing sauce, I'm afraid those glory days are long gone...at least for me. I feel I should add that the problem isn't the beer. Both the selection, and freshness of their beer is really above par. Also, the way that they have their beer menu could be a lesson to some other places (Tap House). The menu is easy to read, categorized by beer type and a list of all critical information is usually given...way to go Hero's! Where Hero's falls short is with the current food that they serve. I haven't had one simple lackluster meal there...because of their convenient location, and beer selection, I've had numerous lackluster meals. My evaluation of where their food goes wrong is actually not in the creativity of the dishes. Many of the dishes read to be quite thoughtful and well balanced. The problem is in the fundamentals. Take their Berkshire pork belly sliders. Pork belly should be either large cubes that are braised/seared or small rectangular sections that are braised and then seared. The braising should breakdown the fat and protein in such a manner to render (haha) the pork belly a mouthful of gelatinous goodness with the offsetting pork as a contrast. Then, one could elect to sear the cubes, or sections to create a sweet caramelized (often crunchy) exterior. They literally served me some thick sliced cured unsmoked bacon. While bacon itself isn't bad, this was less than mediocre bacon. Moving onto the burgers. Hero's burgers were legendary for years and years. But over time...they seem to have lost sight about what a good hamburger is about...it's about the ground beef...quality ground beef. Now, I suppose I can't really blame Hero's alone, it's tough to get good meat nowadays. My recommendation would be to source your meat from a quality meat locker, such as Chenoa Meat Locker. Again, it's the fundamentals that are lacking...get the core of the entree down before moving onto the extras. As mentioned before...their chicken wings still kick a$#! Best buffalo wing sauce around! Take care all!

The place was jumping but we still got seated immediately. The food was exceptionally fresh & though simply prepared; they were executed to perfection! The staff was friendly even when exhausted & there was no seat in the house where you couldn't watch your sporting event! I was blown away by their NOT YOUR DAD'S ROOTBEER beer~I'm SOOO looking forward to coming back!

    (5)
  • Lori T.

They have Not Your Father's Rootbeer beer on tap. That's why we went. I can't believe I'd never been to Heroes West. Haven't been to Heros since it was on Jefferson. I guess I never think about going there because of its location, and my husband thought it was just a college hangout/bar. I'm so glad we went because at 6:00 it is definitely a restaurant. Its like BWWs type place. Good food, decent prices. I'm going back to the "rootbeer" because the food is good.

  • Joe V.

Stopped in here on a road trip. The atmosphere seems great to watch sports, but we weren't in here during prime sports time, so it's all speculation. The food is standard pub fare. The service was spotty. Overall, I'd say it's just your average sports bar.

  • Chad C.

I wanted to like this place, but I can't honestly say it's more than OK. Tons of TVs which is great, but everything I've had there is overly greasy / too much sauce and never special taste-wise. Also, I've always had slow service. Prices aren't bad, but I'm just never excited to go here.

    (3)
  • Tim T.

Been here a few times, service always above avg. food decent. Plenty of tap beer selections. You could do far worse than being here. . I still like looking out picture window at I-80 during the day such as today during lent. Nice blackened salmon.

Damn tasty burger. Good menu,. Great beer selection with decent pricing. Super friendly staff. I left my credit card on accident and they held it till I called then destroyed it when I told them I just wanted to call and get a new one sent. Great place and a great staff. Will definitely go back when in the area.

4 stars now with their expanded craft beer selection. Menu needs to be revamped, same menu for about 6+ years now. Food is good, not great. It is a great place to watch a game and grab a few drinks.

It's sad, I think that it has potential but they are just not executing it. I have tried this restaurant twice now. I was not impressed the first time, but wanted to give it another shot. So tried it again. I will say that there will not be a third chance. The last time I was here, my husband and I split the 1 pound burger with fresh cut fries. Ordered the burger med well and came out very well done. Fresh cut fries were also well done. The burger was dried out! They offered to recook it but I did not have time to wait as the first burger took a half hour to get!

    (2)
  • Zach J.

Service is great here, excellent staff. I give 3 stars because the food is just not very good but not very bad either. First of all the spinach dip is very good! I highly recommend! The burgers are just OK tasting and very oversalted, blah! Too much sodium! I could feel my arties hardening with each bite! If there is something they are more known for on their menu that we did not try, I will have another go at this place, but burgers are somewhat tasty but full of extra sodium and my fiancée did not like her salads. (no stars removed for crappy salad, I make fun of her and anyone else for getting a salad out to eat because it defeats the purpose of dining out)

  • Erin K.

A group of friends decided to go here to see the Blackhawks parade on TV...there were plenty of screens but no way to hear and no commentary on the TV I was positioned to see...so I pretty much gave up watching. The food was good; large portions and I decided to take part of my lunch home. Everyone around me enjoyed the variety of dishes they had so there was not one thing that stood out as outstanding or a must skip. It is not hard to find, just off the highway, and while I'm not in the area often, I wouldn't mind stopping by again.

  • John T.

Granted it was a first time visit (10/25/14) but my wife and I live by the rule of you only get one chance to make a good first impression. Heroes West nailed it! We showed up around 6pm and they were already handing out pagers for tables in the bar area, although this may discourage some, we choose to forge ahead. Seeing two empty seats at the bar, we inquired if they were available and were waved through like VIP's. The bar crew were obviously busy yet never lost their sense of humor nor did they miss an opportunity to refresh drinks. We only had wings and considered them delicious but based on the other menu choices, hostess staff and bar crew, we look forward to trying more.

Awful and arrogant service and management. I was in Joliet nearly a year ago for my nephew's wedding. About 12 of my friends and I went to Heroes West Sports Grill for drinks and appetizers. The food and the drinks were fine - the food, albeit fairly simple appetizers, and the drink, mostly beer, was what we ordered. We sat at a high table which was, for all intents and purposes, an extension of the bar. I asked the waitress to bring me the bill so I could buy for my friends. To my surprise and chagrin, she added 18% gratuity. I spoke to her about it and asked her to remove it, since we were a bunch of people sat at a bar extension. She and her manager explained to me that it was their policy to add gratuity to "table of 6 or more". Startling for a number of reasons! First, we weren't a "table". Second, Illinois had recently changed it's law in this regard. I explained that I typically left 20% and that adding 18% cost the waitress 2% of our bill. Oddly, she was unable to understand the difference between 18% and 20% and how that negatively affected her. In fact, she and her manager became belligerent with me and "dared" me to write a Yelp review. OK, I've been busy, but here it is. Those of you who drink and dine with more than 4 of your friends, caveat emptor - beware! Certainly, Joliet is small, but there must be better and more friendly places to meet friends.

We have gone here after work a few times and it has been great every time. Good beer and mixed drink selection, great food, nice atmosphere, good service and clean bathrooms. My coworkers usually get the ranch fries. I like their burgers! Either way, nice place, it gets pretty busy toward the evening, but early/late afternoon is good for conversation and a beer. Otherwise, it gets loud since it is a sports bar!

Sat at the bar treated like dog shi* I went for the honey habanero wings my buddy keeps raging about. Well you get there on Wednesday and it seems like everyone besides you is priority. The lady that bartends isn't that bad just hope you don't get the meathead who thinks he is the biggest baddest gym rat on the earth its -10 degrees out and he has shorts and a shaker cup lol. He is the reason I won't go back due to pure ignorance of beer and food he looks at you and thinks you're not gonna tip much it's a guy lol. He should be cooking In back not trying to flirt with every girl there, I'm soooo glad I'm not a sub 40-50 year old bartender he makes me feel very awkward. Anyways the wings are good except they don't put enough sauce on them its like they were half naked the gym rat charged me for extra sauce when they were clearly dry oh well awesome wings and good selection of craft brew on tap. For some reason the meathead thinks he's better than everyone even though hes a 45 yr old bartender lol place might have 5star potential if they stepped up there potential by training staff how to treat someone who has money to spend just being treated like a valuable customer one time and I would rate this place at 4 stars at least, I will spend my money elsewhere until I hear about a hd who is willing to go above and beyond for my satisfaction or the meathead realizes everyone hates him even his mom lol. Honey habanero wings are great 60cent wings on Wednesday.

Love this place! It's a sport bar atmosphere, but family friendly at the same time! They even have games and claw machines for the kids! Lots and lots of TVs. Oh, do I need to mention the food!?! Awesome! Everything we have ordered has been great and the portions are huge. I like the shrimp po boy. The shrimp is never over cooked! Great choices for the kids too!

Spoilers - we had an area reserved, but despite talking with folks, the area "wasn't reserved for us," Try talking in this place, and you'll come out hoarse. The acoustics are lousy. Music playing, TVs blaring, and two different games going on the big screen TVs. We ordered a bunch of appetizers, and had a ball. The cheese balls were okay. The Sam Adams was very good - clearly a fresh keg was in play here. And of course, if you want to gamble, they have slot machines. Oh joy. The prices weren't all that bad. The food was okay - not great, not spectacular - just okay.

Bachelor parties are a funny thing. They usually end up being pretty standard with the primary focus centered around heavy alcohol consumption. Me and a group of about 12 guys decided it would be a great idea to start the day off with some paintball (and drinking), followed by sports bar (more drinking), followed by cookout (with drinking) and bars (literally built for drinking.) We ended up at Heroes after the first leg of this day-long adventure for some food and beer after hitting up the paintball course in Joliet. The outside of the place makes it look at lot like a cheap roadside casino (very strange exterior decor if you ask me), but the inside looks like any other sports bar, even dare I say a little classier than most I've been to. The service was all right, with some rolling of the eyes that a bachelor party just rolled through the door demanding food and drinks. I imagine bachelor parties are not the funnest tables to serve, so I'll give them some slack for that situation. The food was also all right, hitting the spot for a long day of what I would deem to be physical activity. It's generally set up as bar food, so anything you would likely find in a bar, they are likely to have it. They had a decent beer selection (even though my table opted for pitchers of our domestic water beers) and plenty of TVs if you plan on actually utilizing this place to watch games. It's sort of like a hometown Buffalo Wild Wings with plenty of local flavor. Didn't completely wow me, but I wasn't really expecting it to either. Definitely hit the spot.

I been here about five times now and each time I've had a good experience, besides this last one.. The food is really good. I've had the mayor (beef sandwich), turkey pesto Penni (amazing), the rib tips (good), and their chicken cordon bleu (really good). The problem with the last time that I went there.. I've had the chicken cordon bleu before and wanted it again. I got it and as I bite into it the chicken was hard (thinking it was raw), so I touched it and it was sticky, proving it was raw... I got the manager over and all she did was grab my plate (like she was pissed off) said I'll make you a new one. I told her I didn't have time and she gave me a dirty look and said she'll take it off the bill and just walked away before I could say anything else.. Without anything else I grabbed a napkin and used it as a plate to share my bfs food. Really bad managing and really bad attitudes for running a business.. Good thing the food is good.. Most of the time.

We live in Chicago so we had no idea where to go to host the luncheon for my wedding rehearsal in October of 2012, so we came here on a recommendation from the Patrick Haley Mansion. Heroes West was great from beginning to end! We were able to reserve the back room, which was wonderful to have some privacy. I honestly have forgotten what we had to eat but I know that everyone kept raving about the food. The servers were very helpful as well as the bartenders who served us at the private back room bar. Food came out pretty efficiently and the servers handled refills nicely. Only gripe was the price. We definitely spent a pretty penny just for a luncheon and for Joliet you would expect it would be slightly cheaper. However, it was great to have this place so close to the highway (and visible!) as well as right across the street from the hotels I had blocked rooms at for my guests. We came back here that night because some of my guests wanted to try more of their menu! So it must've been a hit! Overall it's a great sports bar that takes care of its guests but can definitely come down in price.

Probably some of the best wings I've ever had. My favorite are the BBQ wings but the buffalo ones are also welcome. What makes these wings so special is how HUGE they are!! I've never had wings so big and the waffle fries are the perfect addition to the combo. We usually order carry out because we don't feel comfortable taking the kids here, honestly. Hasn't stopped us from getting wings yet! Burgers are kinda dry.

I stopped in for a late dinner. As we entered the restaurant, we were greeted and taken to our seats by the hostess. I had a chance to look around a bit before our waitress came over for our drink order and as I did, I noticed all of the great looking TV's they had throughout the restaurant...certainly a great spot to view sporting events. Our waitress came over and she did an OK job. We were ready to order the first time she greeted us but she stated that she would be back for our drink orders. When she came back for our drink orders, she stated that she would be back for our food orders. She finally took our order but other then having to wait to place our orders, she was prompt with follow-up. The food unfortunately was just OK. I had potato skins for appetizer, steak sandwich, and mac and cheese but hey...if you want access to lot's of TV's, a good vibe sports bar, and OK service and food - this spot is for you.

I can never get enough of this place but my diet has limited me to coming here. I came here for a Super Bowl a few years ago with a good friend of mine that referred me to this place. We started with the buffalo wings in the first quarter. Second quarter we started with burgers with onion wings and waffle fries. In the last quarter we got the brownie Sunday. I loved all of it equally. It was amazing food and I will come back as much as my diet allows me to. Love this place!!!

Typical sports bar and grill. What sets this place apart is the decent bar food at a good price. The bar area is a decent size with a lot of televisions . They recently started selling a good amount of seasonal and craft beer like everyone else is doing. They also do the beer samplers . The food is good . I would go with the burger but the spuds is not a bad option . They do have daily lunch specials. Avg price for dinner with a couple drinks ribs around 25-40 pp. not bad

I really do not enjoy this place. For me burgers are expensive and don't even come with a side (fries). That costs more money. Food is expensive in general, and not worth the premium cost. Waitress staff is not very friendly. Been here a couple of times and every time the staff acts the same way. I wouldn't recommend this place.

After a multiyear hiatus from Heroes because of poor service, I decided to revisit them with an open mind and give them another try. I am happy to have had two good experiences, mostly because of the bartender, Debbie, who gave us excellent service. THE SERVICE: Debbie, the bartender, is a true professional: friendly, cheerful, and attentive. We visited once for lunch and once for dinner. Both times the bar was full; Debbie was the only bartender. Unlike our poor experiences in the past, Debbie had the bar under control, working hard and leaving us wanting or needing very little. Everyone sitting at the bar was attended to. Nice work! THE FOOD: At lunch we ordered the Ben Hoagie and one of the burgers, along with a cup of chili. All of it came out hot, cooked to perfection, and tasted great! Our second visit at dinner, we had a cup of chili, chips and salsa, and beer. The chili is good; chips and salsa -- well, what do you say? It's chips and salsa. A friend of mine told me about a special they have called "the Cuban" and said it was really great. We asked about it and learned that it's mostly the Friday special. We were there on a Tuesday, but we were told that if they had the ingredients they could make it for us. THE BEER: One thing I noticed that's different now than before is their attention to the way the beer is served: They have chilled glasses, which make a lot of domestic drafts like Miller, Budweiser, etc. taste great! Compliments for that! Also speaking of beer temperature, which is a big deal, they have a series of temperatures on display near the bar that indicate the temperature of each of the beer coolers, and even the temperature of the beer lines. The selection of draft beer is pretty ordinary: Miller, Bud, Sam Adams, Blue Moon, Stella, 312, Goose Island Seasonal, Fat Tire, New Castle, Dos Equis. I say "ordinary" because of the growing obsession, mine included, with craft beers. No fault on Heroes for that, however. SUMMARY: Overall, I'm really glad I gave Heroes another chance, even if it took me a few years to do so. I hope in the future that the service will be as good as it was with Debbie. Future bartenders have a lot to live up to. (P.S. It should be noted that I do not personally know Debbie, despite how much I gushed about her. I do, however, believe in giving credit and compliments when they are due, and Debbie is certainly deserving of both.)

I went here on a weekend night to get together with some old friends and to listen to some live music. This was my first time at this restaurant/bar. Pulling into the parking lot I thought hmmm this place looks nice and it's a pretty good size. We walked in and it was PACKED. Like OVER an hour wait packed. Luckily my friend that organized the night arrived 45 minutes before us and got us a buzzer for a table. Had a few drinks at the bar while we waited. Nice staff. I like the wall paintings and decor of the place. The prices were about normal for the area. Nothing too high for what I drink. Not a beer drinker so my bills are always a little higher. I ordered the chicken Cobb salad (I believe) and it was really good. Good size too. My friend and her husband ordered this HUGE burger to split and they could not finish it. Crazy big burger!! We were right up front when the band did start to play so nice and loud. Not a bad band that night but I have def heard better! Good space for dancing if the mood strikes. I would say I would go back again sometime although it was a bit of a drive. CHEERS!

ABSOLUTELY THE WORSE SERVICE IN JOLIET. After we were seated it took our waitress 10 minutes to greet us. We waited another 7 minutes for drinks. Waited 30 minutes for a salad and a hamburger. THIS WAS ON A SUNDAY.......AND THEY WEREN'T EVEN BUSY!!!!!! My suggestion is stay away. The food is mediocre at best. My Bloody Mary was awful. OH!!!!! And I had to ask for silverware to eat my salad. Unreal........ If you want a good burger....... Go to Jameson's.

Stayed at hotel across the street and this place was pretty good. Cocktails, Reuben Sierra & pulled pork sandwich with onion rings were tasty. Service was on point. Music was a little loud and not the best. Would go again!

This place is awesome! Joliet has very little cuisine that I'd consider eating twice but I honestly plan to return to Heros West as many times as I can while I'm in Joliet. Why? Simply put, this is the best food I've eaten in this culinarily depressed town. We had the Spuds El Grande appetizer which was delicious with all that pulled pork on top. We had a mess of delicious salads (spinach, cobb & californian) and boneless chicken wings, all was fresh tasting and prompt. For dessert we had a slice of cheesecake, apple cobbler and a hot fudge brownie sundae which was to die for!!! If we had more stomachs we would have filled them up. Their wait staff is incredibly friendly and clean cut in appearance, which is more than I can say from some of the other restaurants in Joliet. The restaurant feels new, fun for all ages and looks like their fully stocked bar could make a good night better. The owner of the restaurant was nice enough to point out that they have a beer garden. He took some of us out on a tour of it. Pretty sweet for Joliet! Wish we had found this place sooner instead of eating at our horrible Holiday Inn hotel. UPDATE- We ordered a large to-go order and I'm sad to say that whoever was running the to-go section left their frontal lobe at home that day. We were missing some of our order (salads and fries) and in exchange we got someone else's 1lb burger and some hot wings that we didn't order. It was a bit annoying when we're shelling out a lot of $ on 10 food orders to not get everything we ordered. But I still will say that eating here is better than eating at a corporate chain or run down piece of sh*t in Joliet. In short, you're probably better eating in than taking out.

never again. 945 on a saturday night and the teenage waitstaff refused to wait on us. as we sat at our table, they told us to go the bar to get our drinks, while 4 waitresses looked on while texting. they shouldve told us that the kitchen closes at 11 and we can only wait on you until then. we would have understood that. instead, they went out of their way to ignore us. it was actually kind of funny. we took turns going up to the bar getting our drinks while they just watched. girls, we would have paid you to that! you were there anyway, why not earn some money? there was a other couple that sat down next to us and waited for 20 minutes for service and then just left. the staff just doesnt have a clue.

Coming here for anything other than watching sports in a restaurant is an exercise in futility. It's ear-splitting loud even in the afternoon, which is fine if all you want is a lunch with minimal conversation. You do get a huge pile of food for your money which I appreciate, and the service is pretty prompt. I'd recommend this place if you're doing business in Joliet, have a flight to catch later on and need to get a quick, heavy meal before dealing with the airport.

I've been here 2 maybe 3 times. Its a nice place, good food, and great laid back environment. One of the times there tho we had a not so pleasant experience with the waitress. I understand that sometimes we have rough days (I use to waitress as well) but I feel that even when we're having a not so good day, you should always put a friendly face for customers... especially if the food took well over an hour to come out. I get it, waitresses don't have much say in how long the food takes. But still... not one of my best experiences at a restaurant. That was only ONCE tho.. the other two times we had a great time! I would definitely go again!

Service can be spotty. Food is always above average for a pub. Beer selection is very good especially for Joliet. Nice, comfortable atmosphere on the bar top. Good selections available on the jukebox. Nice stop if you are in the area.

I hate this place... I've been here too many times to be proud of it. I am happy to say, I have been Hero's free for over 8 months now. Since, I just got a Yelp account, I will tell you what I tell everyone who asks me about this place. The final straw was the last time I was there, my friend turned 21 and I took him here, his choice, and I wasn't surprised by the usual horrible service and mistakes with my order. The drink I ordered, never made it to the table (even though I asked twice for it), and my friend's drink was made using Smirnoff instead of UV, I thought it strange how she brought it to the table and told us that, AND didn't remake it with the CORRECT vodka! She just laughed and, my friend, being all to nice, said that he would still drink it. I wasn't surprised when he said it tasted bad. Also, when we eventually got our food, it was cold, and I found out why....After watching the fake-breasted bimbo who I WAITED on, ironically, talk with her coworkers for about 15minutes, we laughed all we could about the situation before we decided to yell out to her that we wanted our check. Unbelievable, I think we tipped her 0.29 cents. Bottom line: The drinks specials suck here, and the food is even worse, and the service is something you have to demand attention for. Good luck if you're going, it's unfortunate if you do though, there are better drinks specials and better things to eat ELSEWHERE!

I have to agree with the current Yelp rating. I like this place's setup and ambiance, but there's a few things holding it back from a higher grade. The food is usually good, but nothing to write home about. They do a pretty decent Reuben, but nothing else we've tried (burgers, salad, chicken, appetizers) has really jumped at us. Otherwise, they have a decent but not amazing beer selection, some good drink specials, and usually above average service. Trivia is a nice touch on Wednesdays. Especially helps that it's the best option for food and drink within its area.

I've been working around the area for a few years and I think Heroes is probably the most popular restaurant in the area. Whenever I go out to lunch with coworkers and vendors, we either go here or to the casino buffet. This place always seem to be busy, but never packed. It can be a bit noisy from all the chattering going on and the large tv screens throughout the bar. It seems to be very clean, comfortable, and new, despite being a bar. Then again, I always come for lunch and rarely see people drinking that early. It is also convenient to get to and has a large parking lot. More importantly though, the food is good. They have a large variety of entrees - I still haven't tried them all even though I've probably been to this place 15+ times. Sometimes the food is mediocre, but for the most part, I'm usually satisfied with whatever I ordered. I can eat a lot, but the portions are large so I usually get the minor league burgers/sandwiches. I really like their burgers. They have great onion rings and waffle fries too. The soup is good too. The price is fair for a good meal but our vendors usually foot the bill. Maybe that's also why I like this place so much :)

As a regular of the original location, I'm sad to say this place sucks. The food is just ok, the service is typically poor, and every time I've been on a Friday night the live music has been just plain awful! We went for New Years Eve since it was close. When we booked we were told out ticket included an appetizer, dinner, dessert, and drinks til midnight. Took 15 minutes to get in the door. Another 20 to get our drink orders taken & served. Then we're told that it was 1 appetizer or 1 dessert per couple. We paid for individual tickets, not per couple AND we had 5 people in our group. We were not the only people to be shocked at that point. I emailed the GM a few days later and never even got a response. This will be our last visit for sure.

Great food (get the wings)! Great service! (Ask for Amanda) lots of TVs so if there's something specific you want to watch just ask and they'll bend over backwards to get it on for you. Want to hear the show? Ask them to turn on subtitles or ask for a speaker box for your table. I'll be back even if it isn't Breaking Bad night.

We went to Heros for all the Blackhawk playoff games last year. Food was good! We got to the point that we came in and asked for one waitress, Amanda. She was fantastic. We didn't wait for refills on drinks and she came by to check on us regularly. Highly recommend this spot, and ask for Amanda.

Today has been the 2nd time I've been here. The 1st time went off without a hitch courteous and speedy waitress and all that. Today was the total opposite, I went in with a freind got seated right away. We sat 20 minutes before the waitress came, we ended up walking out after waiting for 20 minutes and it wasn't even busy, super slooooow service this time. It's one of the worst experiences i've ever had. Since i had 1 good exp. and 1 bad i need to go 1 more time to break the tie. When i do i'll update it.

This place is conveniently located near the hotels on the Houbolt exit of I-80. The beer is cold and the service is friendly. There is a large dining room that you can reserve for parties or conferences. The menu is typical of a bar, lots of sandwiches and platter type offerings.

I like charcoal but not charcoal fries. The ribs were inedible. Super dry and you could chew on them for days and still never be able to choke them down. Their version of hot n'spicy BBQ sauce tasted more like sweet Kraft BBQ sauce with no spice or heat.

The service usually isn't too bad, but every time I've ever been here something usually goes wrong. The most recent visit my friend and I both ordered the Pennsylvania burger. The waitress didn't ask how my friend wanted her burger cooked so when they finally came out mine was more medium well than medium and theirs was medium, not the way we prefer. The most off-putting part about the burger was whatever they cooked the mushrooms in created a neon orange oil/slime that got everywhere. It was extremely unappetizing. My house salad had a balsamic vinaigrette that was not balanced and way too acidic. The other downside to this place is that it is extremely hit or miss with how my bowels will react same with other people I've talked to. What are you putting in your food that is neon orange and causes one to almost pooh their pants? When will I learn to avoid the food at this place? Overall, meh. But they do have a nice beer selection so I will go to drink, not eat.

Hero's West was not our first choice. In all honesty we are in Chicago and we were craving deep dish pizza! My row buddy (her name escapes me) on the flight recommended a pizzeria which sounded fantastic, but unfortunately it was in the opposite direction of where we were heading. So as we were heading towards the hotel we quickly decided upon Hero's West 1) because we were familiar with it and 2) it was relatively close to the hotel. It's a cool place, definitely a sports focused venue judging by the decor. Oh yeah and the name: Hero's West "Sports Grill" kind of gives it away. We were seated quickly as the place was lacking on the clientèle, I guess Monday nights are not very busy. I hit the facilities and realized that it is best to allow your hands to warm up before you, well you know. Needless to say as I returned back our table a pitcher containing the golden Belgium beverage: Stella Artois was awaiting. It helps with the decision making process. The overall feel of the place was cool. I can guarantee that during a Sox, Bulls, Cubs or Bears game this place can get loud and intense very quickly. Definitely a great place to hold a large get together with friends or family. Just watch your steps during the winter season, I nearly lost my balance a few times walking through the parking lot. The service was prompt at first but started to lag after a while as she forgot a few of our request. Which was quickly mended with our subtle reminders. All of the burgers on the menu are said to be made with fresh USDA Choice Angus Chuck that are char grilled. According the menu their standard burgers are one pound of beef and the minor league versions weighing in at 1/2 lb. It was a toss up between the I-80 burger and the Macon Bacon Burger. The I-80 came with sautéed onions, red peppers, jalapenos and pepper jack cheese topped with onion crisps. The Macon Bacon Burger on the other hand is considered their Bill "Lam" Burger which is topped with cheddar cheese, 2 strips of thick cut hickory-smoked bacon and finished off with crispy onion rings with a side of BBQ sauce (hot or mild). I totally missed that, otherwise I would have ordered it hot. You also had a choice of onion rings, fries or a combo of both. I wanted everything! The bacon sealed the deal for me so I ordered the minor league version of the Macon Bacon Burger. As I skimmed through the menu I did not notice anywhere mentioning that the burgers are served with lettuce, tomatoes, pickles etc... So I assumed at this point it would automatically show up on my plate. Wrong! This was a purest burger, only containing meat and cheese. I suppose I could have asked for some garden veggies, but I wasn't going to. Adding some ketchup, mustard, Tabasco sauce followed by a generous drizzle of some BBQ sauce I folded up the bacon strips and rearranged the onion rings. With the onion rings piled on, the burger was now stacked pretty high. As I squeezed the buns together the sauces began to trickle out on to my hands and plate. The first bite was juicy. The combination of BBQ sauce mixed with Tabasco provided a nice kick. As I continued on reaching a little past the half way mark the burger suddenly became dry making it hard to swallow. Some parts towards the end seem overly cooked and nearly hard. So my enjoyment quickly did a 180. I added the remaining BBQ sauce in hopes to conceal the dryness which helped to an extent, but it didn't help the areas which were hard. As hungry as I was I finished it along with the onion rings which were the highlight of the meal. The onion rings were perfect, crispy, crunchy and flavorful. Had I known I would have just ordered the onion rings and would have been a happy camper. The burger wasn't bad at first, but towards the bitter end it was dry and didn't seem to have much spices or seasoning. Also it didn't come with any lettuce, tomatoes or onions other than the onion rings. Having to douse it with the remaining BBQ sauce to cover up the dryness really killed the experience. The onion rings were great, but the fries seemed old and stale. I am pretty sure I won't order it again.

I have been here about 5 times, and have been to their old location a few times too. I will say- They have one of the better blue cheese burgers around, as long as it does not come out overcooked. The beer prices are a little high in my opinion. The waffle fries are excellent, and they have some unique menu items. The burgers are offered in either one pound or half pound versions, which is great after a few beers! I will eventually return one of these days.

A great sports bar and grille are hard yo find. After finding this one I'm still searching. The food is good but the service is horrible. I came here on my lunch break and it took way to long to get served. The waiter did not ever come to our table for twenty min. The only reason I gave 2 stars is because the food was great.

Brought a co-worker and a client here for lunch the other day. We were seated within 5 minutes in a large comfortable booth. The whole restaurant was well covered with TV monitors, so we had good views of multiple channels. The waitstaff was very friendly. I ordered The Mayor (a sliced prime rib sandwich), with chips and horseradish. When the plate arrived, the sandwich looked well constructed, but the "horseradish" was not traditional horseradish, but rather a sauce, with a very mild horseradish flavor. I was somewhat disappointed, as I was in the mood for a sinus clearing, tear inducing horseradish, but the sauce was ok, probably better for the timid taste buds. The chips were homemade, but they arrived to my table cold and soggy. I am used to getting hot and crisp homemade chips. The sandwich was spot on. The beef was tender and the roll it was saved on was perfect. I would order it again. I enjoyed my first visit overall, and would recommend this place as a good alternative to the chains. The other two in my party had split reviews on their sandwiches.

In town on business I've been here twice and will be back. Maybe 12 beers on tap and they're COLD. Had the perch last night and it was VERY good w/ light breading. Their crutons must be terrible for you because they melt in your mouth. Service issues mentioned by others must have been resolved because my waitress was very friendy, attentive and capable. Very good bartender and staff. 5 stars because there's simply no reason to deduct one. Outdooe patio too! Business Travelers: Plenty of motels across the street so we can walk. Perfect!

I haven't gone to the new location too much and don't plan to go too many times again...I went to meet friends in the patio area. And if you are a brand new to the bar you will get confused easy. You have to take a sharp right towards the end of the bar and hit a green button to open a glass sliding door. The bucket of beer is too damn expensive I guess they charge for ice too. I paid 15.50 for a bucket of 6 beers! And half way through ordering the 6, I was interrupted by the barkeep "BUCKETS ONLY COME IN 5's" so after the $3.50 1 beer add on I went back outside. The only thing saving this overpriced night was the nacho plate made after the kitchen closed. Lower your prices weirdos and maybe just maybe people will pack your bar...weirdos!

The location is very spacious, an open feeling. It's a far cry from going to places like Buffalo Wild Wings where you seem overwhelmed by everything. The food was good. Very generous sized portions for what you pay for. I highly recommend their quesadillas. The service was okay. Our waitress was very kind and gave us recommendations since it was our first time there, however as the night went on it was harder to find her; which was a little disappointing. If you are looking for a good place to eat greasy food with a nice beer, this is your spot!

WIthout a doubt, this place is amazing. It's odd to see the rating so average. Not really sure what the deal is with that, but trust me, this place is great! The wings here are some of the best I've ever had, not THE best, but still pretty great, pretty up there. Out of all the times I've been here, the service has always been 5-stars. Food always comes out on a timely manner, always tasty and delicious, and the waitresses are always pleasant and kind. The atmosphere is just so-so, not bad, but no amazing either...but the wings make up for it. I've been to a few other bar/restaurants around the Joliet area and they are pretty awful. This is the place to go. I'm not sure if it's right to say or not yet, as I have not traveled everywhere in the midwest, but I'd say this is definitely one of the best restaurants the Midwest (especially Joliet) has. Prices are decent too. The food is worth every dollar. I really like their fries here too. The waffle kind. Real splendid and such. Onion rings too, quite the delight. Good good stuff at Heroes West, I'll be honest, it's always the number one place I look forward to coming to when I come to Illinois! So EPIC...

Second time going here and both times had horrible service. Our dining experience lasted for over 1.5 hours waiting for our food while small and very large tabletops spent only 30 min waiting for food. Though we received a gift card for the bad service I will trade it in online so I never have to eat there again. Oh yeah food is mediocre too!

This place was the worst. I'm thinking if I was going there primarily to drink, I might have been more impressed but since I was looking for a meal as well, yikes!! The waitress was a bubble head who misunderstood what I ordered and thought that I ordered 3 separate appetizers for three people!! She brought out an outrageous amount of food and when I questioned her, she insisted I said that I wanted that much food. I told her to take away the food as I would not pay for something that I simply didn't order. She left in a huff and then a manager came over to question us about what happened. I couldn't believe that I was being questioned...common sense would suggest that two people wouldn't order 3 appetizers and meals on top of that!!! To top it all off, the food was just terrible... It was not tasty...even for bar food. If you ever go here, pass on the food. It's just gross

First as we walked into the door and the hostess said nothing. She did not smile or greet us. Luckily our party was already seated. We sat and it took the server at least 15 minutes to come over. The food was ok at best. Then when it was time to pay the server just threw the check on the table. Then when the check wasn't ready when she came back she had an attitude. We gave her $100.64 and the bill was $62.64. She gave us the wrong change back twice. I was fed up. The service was slow and horrible. I will not return.

Excellent Sports Bar. TVs everywhere. Great place to watch a game or just sit back and relax. Large banquet hall for your needs. I enjoyed Heroes and Legends while it was around but the new Heroes West is a breath of fresh air. It is very clean, open, spacious, and the staff has always been courteous. The large banquet hall is another fantastic addition to this local legend. Heroes West has the Tom W. stamp of approval.

The restaurant was recommended by the hotel. We weren't expecting much when we went in but were pleasantly surprised by the food. I had the Portobello sandwich and the mushroom and peppers were great. My mom had the Turkey panini which she enjoyed. So as long as you expect a sports bar atmosphere and a small wine selection I highly recommend eating here.

This has to be the worst bar I've ever been to in the suburbs. It is way out of the way in Joliet and the people that work there think this place is some elite bar. The bouncers suck, the managers suck. They think their jobs are much more important than they actually are. This is Joliet people!! If I never went back here again, it would be too soon. Ugh!!

    (1)
  • Jeff F.

Well I can't say its as great as the last one to review it. Yes it is spacious and has lots of TVs but I feel the food is quite lacking. It's just plain old bar food that you can get pretty much anywhere. Personally I think its on the pricey side (gotta pay for those TVs somehow), considering the overall taste of the food. Then again I never really cared for the old heroes. If I want crappy bar food I want cheep crappy bar food ya know?

    (3)
  • Johnny T.

I was cautious about going here after hearing the mixed reviews, but I gave it a shot regardless. Its a sports bar that's more upscale with diverse (when compared to most bars) specials like tilapia & breaded shrimps. I went & got their 1lb burger, which was around $10 with fries. Their prices were a little on the high side (particularity with $13 for a pulled pork which wasn't a large portion) the crowd seemed 30's-40's with slightly more guys than women. The food was ok, but I wouldn't go back right away since it seemed like most upscale bars that are in the suburbs.

  • Lee W.

I've been here several times. The food is nothing amazing, but it is good, very reasonably priced, and solid service. It's a sports bar, but in a clean & classy way, at least on the inside (more on that in a moment). Plenty of TV's, good sight lines, and kid friendly. I was disappointed they didn't have pizza. It is on the menu but the server said they didn't have it. I don't know if it that means they could not serve it that day or if it was dropped altogether and they haven't updated the menus. I hope it was just a short term problem and the pizza will be back soon because I've had it before and it was quite good. And what sports bar DOESN'T have pizza??? Huh? By the way, almost every time I go there I see motorcycles parked on the sidewalk near the door. It does not bother me personally (I ride myself), but it may give the wrong impression to others, not to mention the legal liability if a cycle falls over on someone. Nothing screams "SLEAZY BIKER DIVE" like a herd of Harleys parked in front...on the sidewalk no less!

A place I frequent. Not sure why the sour reviews about the food. As bar food goes, it's great. The Buffalo chicken sandwich and Reuben are my two favorites. Burgers are very good. The pizza is so-so, but if you want pizza around Chicago, you go to a pizza place, not a sports bar. I also recommend the waffle fries, and ask for an extra side of their ranch dressing instead of ketchup for the fries. Plenty of TVs to see multiple sports events, and an outdoor area if you like. Not a college age pickup joint, and when they have live music, its usually classic rock cover bands; 30s and up crowd, but certainly lots of families and seniors here, too. Wine selection is limited, but beer in bottles and tap range from trendy swill (PBR) to popular micro and imports. If I have a beef after many visits, it's the occasional service faux pas. There are some long time staffers, but generally there seems to be a lot of turnover. 99% of the time, I get great service, but have had issues with timely seating and long wait for initial service. I could see where a first time visitor would be totally put off by this. Overall, this is a great place to watch a game, or have a casual meal in a relaxed atmosphere.
