I almost don't want to leave a review for fear they will get more crowded. I love the food - salads - po boys - the specials - have all been outstanding. I eat here a couple times a month and have never had a bad meal (although I have had a bad seat - some tables should just not be)

We are lucky to have Lucky Fish! Great for a ladies night out! The salmon was very fresh and tasty.

I had the lobster roll. The lobster was very over cooked. The tarragon mayo was flavorful. Bread hot and buttery. I just wish the lobster was tender and not hard as a rock. We also had the oyster poboy which was very good. The bananas foster was tasty. Since many people have raved about the food I'm willing to give the place another try

Tried it for the first time today and I'll be back repeatedly. Had sauteed tilapia with hush puppies. Outstanding. Very clean. Great staff and reasonably priced.

Lucky Fish Deli was to have opened November, 2013 but the opening was delayed until February, 2014. The 1st few times we got carry out and was very impressed with the quality, portions and quality of the food. However, the last 3 times the food has been very disappointing. I ordered the 1/2 pound of perch and was to have gotten chips, no chips. The perch had so much breading on it, that we couldn't taste the fish. We tried carry out again: shrimp quesadillas. The quesadilla was soft and watery, not crunchy. Inside the quesadilla was maybe 5 small pieces of shrimp, green and red peppers, onions and a flavorless cheese. These are ingredients for a fajita. This time we got the chips: border line burnt and hush puppies, which were so hard and stale, we tossed them out. The 3rd and final time, we got the shrimp Po Boy. It was a small 4 inch sandwich with 3 pieces of shrimp, on a toasted roll. Po Boys are not to be toasted, we tried to eat the sandwich but, everything just fell out. Again the chips, were a very dark brown, almost burnt. Would not recommend unless they improve portions, quality and consistency with their dished and ingredients.

Used to be a 4-star fan, but disappointed in tonight's visit. Great service. Good value. Our server was excited about the "special" lobster ravioli, so I decided to go for it. At $21 -- more than most other options on the menu -- I expected an entree-size portion. I believe there were just 5 modest, understuffed ravioli. More of an appetizer or small plate. After commenting to the server -- who agreed that the portion size was small -- I thought they'd spring for a couple more ravioli, but no go. It took a slice of their delicious key lime pie to make it a meal. Yes, we'll be back. But not as enthusiastically.

Great Place! Congrats to Jerry(Once upon a Bagel Owner) and Bob Shrago for putting together a fantastic comfort Seafood joint. I'm old school and enjoy fried shrimp like Fish Keg, Don's Dock, Family Fishery, etc, etc. I went with 3 couples around 8:15pm Sat nite. Staff, especially server and his assistant were awesome. Everything I sampled was really tasty. We shared fried shrimp and calamari. Both great. I had the lobster roll, WOW! Great value, ($14.50) fresh large chunks of lobster. It had wonderful seasoning, nice little crunch and the bread was great. This lobster roll is worth the ride. I also tried the scallop special from my date at the end of the meal. It was really good with some nice looking grilled veggies. Nice vibe here and the décor is cool and casual. I hear the Fish themed rock and roll posters were Shrago's idea. I will be back. 6 people, 6 drinks, apps, dinners and at least 20% tip= $60 per couple. Great place

Dined here on a Saturday night. We walked in for an early dinner and only one table was filled. However, by the time 7:00 rolled along the place was jam packed and I know why! It was great! Food was wonderful and the service was outstanding! My husband and I ordered two appetizers-Drunkin Shrimp and Crab Quesadilla. Both very good-the quesadilla was HUGE. Could have been an entree! My husband had Fried Perch and I ordered the Jambalaya. Both were great. I loved the little serving of broccoli coleslaw that accompanied the fish. One thing that I thought was missing from the menu was another selection or two of grilled fish. I believe the only grilled fish on the menu is salmon. This place is very reasonably priced for a seafood restaurant. Our bill was only $50 not including tip and we even had a dessert and coffee. The bread pudding was delicious! Definitely returning to try other items on the menu! PS My husband dined here on a previous occasion and enjoyed the raw oysters - super fresh and reasonably priced too!

Okay, I have never upgraded a review from four stars to five stars before. In this case I feel it really is warranted. Lucky fish has definitely raised their game with the quality of their food, however it is simply for the drunken shrimp appetizer alone that I am raising them the whole star. The drunken shrimp is simply put one of the top five things that I have ever eaten. I loved dragging my oyster entree through the sauce. So that you don't think I'm fibbin' here are my top 5 eat outs ever: 1. The steak at my wedding, Deerpath inn Lake Forest Illinois. 2000 2. Beignet at beignet Café New Orleans 2001 3. Drunken shrimp, Lucky fish, Highwood Illinois. 2014 4. Beef ribs at Bones Lincolnwood Illinois. 1997 I think they're closed. 5. Steak pizza, senate dining room, Hart building. 2013 I eat about 85% veg, so I'm very picky about my cholesterol yummies.

Great fish, fun atmosphere for weekday date night with my husband. I enjoyed the mahi mahi po'boy (terrific roumalade sauce) with broccoli slaw. I might just get the fish a la carte next time to skip the bread, this is a nice option to have (then I'll feel good about trying out the hush puppies). My husband had the mahi blackened and ate it as fish tacos. It's nice having a fish place in the neighborhood that isn't stuffy. I'll be back.

My family and my friend went here one night. We found this place, and decided to check it out. If you have ever been to any once upon a bagel resturant, you know how crowded the place can be. This was no different. They crammed twenty tables. Into one tiny room. Also, they had a cooler with live lobsters. That would normally be okay, but one was still alive, but buried in lobster claws. That is like being covered with severed arms from a human. The food was nothing spectacular. Overall this place wasn't awesome.

I had a pretty poor experience here. We came on a Saturday afternoon around 4pm. Only about 4 of 20+ tables were occupied yet they took us to the side room which was dark like a jail cell. The employees would congregate by the room and chatter with foul language. Not pleasant. The food: The salmon salad and Lobster Roll. The lobster was ok if not uninspired. It just didn't seem that fresh. The remoulade was great. But they placed the sandwich in a deep basket with the hushpuppies underneath. How the heck am I supposed to eat the hushpuppies? I had to dig them out and ask for a separate plate. The hushpuppies were dry, cold and hard. Pretty horrible. The salmon salad was lackluster. Veggies were like a salad from Jewel. The salmon had no flavor. Frozen for how long? The dressing was average. Service was bad. The above herding to the cell for starters. The waiter asked for a drink order then threw the drink menu on the table after were at a loss for choices. He brought the wrong salad dressing. He kept bumping my chair as he walked back and forth without apology. The busser harriedly cleared the plates and salad flew on our clothes as a result. She just laughed. Not going back. Ever. For great seafood and service go to Bluegrass or Boston Fish Market instead. This was like a Portillos version of a seafood restaurant.

Excited I got to try this place last week on a visit home. We sat outside, which was much better than the tables right by the washrooms. They actually have lots of seating. Lucky Fish Deli shares a door with Mean Wiener, same owners from what I understand, etc. It's very easy to miss, so just look for Mean Wiener, park and you'll find it behind the hot dogs. I of course had their lobster roll, which was generous with the lobster and excellent. There were eight of us and I don't recall what everyone else got, but everyone loved what they had... even the kids. For what you get the prices are very reasonable. Big fan of Lucky Fish Deli and I will visit every time I get a chance.

Not bad! Location and Ambiance: Location is great, Highwood is known for their foodie places. Food: Nothing to write home about, but overall it was pretty good. I had a shrimp po-boy and it was not fantastic but also not bad. Staff: The staff seemed average, nothing special here tho. In summary, it was an average to above average experience. Thanks, Connor Brady

Since my last review I have come back to Lucky Fish twice, I really wanted to like this place but at the end of the day, the food just isn't for me. I came back and ordered the Lobster Mac and Cheese as well as the Lobster roll. The Lobster Mac and Cheese is my favorite food on the menu. I really appreciate how they don't skimp on the lobster. My only big hang up is the price. I think $14.50 is just too much to pay for Mac and Cheese. As far as the lobster roll, again, portions are great at lucky fish, they don't skimp. However, the lobster roll didn't leave a remarkable impression. The herbs don't really pop, the bread didn't taste fresh, and I didn't care for the sauce. They give a side of bread with it, but the bread is really greasy. And finally the price, I wouldn't pay $14.50 for it. While Lucky fish deli has great portion sizes, I feel the vast majority of the food is unhealthy. Down the road on Sheridan is a place called Fish Head, for about the same price you can get a more upscale meal that is much healthier (and their crab cakes are amazing).

I have found my go to place for fresh Seafood in the north shore. This place is great. The wife and I came here over the weekend for lunch. And we feasted for what came out to about $45 before tip. The oysters are your standard blue points. They are nice and big. I honestly would not get these again because at $9 for a half dozen its a little steep for blue points. But fresh and flavorful either plane or with the mango salsa they provide. Next was the ceviche tostadas. The order came with two. And they did not skimp on the ceviche. Each tostada was drowning in a pile of ceviche made from what I believe was salmon and potentially some other fish. The lime and onions may be overpowering for some, but I had no complaints. Now its time for the drunken shrimp. I was thinking it would be more along the Chinese version where the shrimp are stunned in baijiu, but I was wrong. It was some sort of dish that had a cream based sauce and I'd have to guess some booze to make them 'drunk'. I really have no clue what it was but damn I want more. So now we're onto our main and we shared a lobster roll. Fresh, light flavors, refreshing, and LOBSTER. It was loaded with meat, celery, and spices. This with a side of hush puppies are you're good to go. We finished with their coffee. Now most of the time I wouldn't mention a drip coffee. But this was a Mexican style coffee that was already spiced with cinnamon and was perfectly sweetened. I will come back here fairly often.

I honestly wasn't sure what to expect here. I knew that people were already talking about how great Lucky Fish is, but beyond that, this was going to be an adventure on Friday night. We were seated promptly with our menus. The ambiance is upscale diner, which I can dig. I loved that the artwork on the walls is band posters with fish-themed names (Phish, Reel Big Fish, etc). Clever and fun. My husband and I both ordered the lobster roll; he opted for hush puppies as a side and I chose broccoli slaw. The lobster rolls were delicious -- served on grilled bread, tons of lobster, and very flavorful. I preferred his hush puppies to my slaw, but both were good. We'll be back. There are a lot more Fridays of Lent to get through.

Absolutely amazing food, Gerry the owner continually surprises me with his entrepreneurship. The fish is fresh, and the ambience is pleasantly inviting. The only thing I wish they had was a hot lobster roll. The cold roll was amazing, but just throw the lobster with butter in a toasted bun and you'll win my heart for every.

I have been waiting for this place to open ever since I first heard of the possibility. I was not disappointed. I had a half dozen raw oysters to start and they were much better then expected. I was a little fearful of eating oysters so far from the ocean, but my fears were quickly laid to rest. I then had a lobster roll. The bread was great and the lobster hit the spot. I can't wait to go back and try some of their other seafood options.

Food was excellent and very fresh. Even oyster Po boy had fresh oysters on the inside, they weren't all crusted up and over deep fried beyond recognition. Cod Po boy was also very fresh. Portions for Po boys are very generous. Their seasonal pumpkin lobster soup was delicious.

So very happy Lucky Fish came into this area! We thoroughly enjoyed the (tossed) Lobster salad and Shrimp Po' Boy. Located behind Mean Wiener and the restaurants have a common area which attaches the two. Bread pudding totally hit the spot with the right amount of crunch. Nice sized portions as well! Don't miss out...

What a hidden treat in Highwood! I really enjoyed my first visit to Lucky Fish for dinner. Admittedly, I am not much of a fan of shrimp. My dad raved about the Drunken Shrimp so I had to give it a try...and I am glad I did! The appetizer was my favorite part of my meal - the mango salsa in the middle of the dish was good enough to eat by itself! We split a lobster roll and the chicken entree. Both were good. The lobster roll was fresh and I liked the crunch of the cucumber. I always opt for homemade chips at restaurants that have them and their homemade chips were delicious as a side. The dipping sauce was also very tasty. Ambiance was unique and pleasant - upscale yet casual deli. Lucky Fish, we will be back.

We have been here numerous times as a family and a couple times with a group of friends. This time with a large group, service was bad. To start with, as the server was taking the orders he was adding it all together. We informed him we would like separate checks but we were told "we no longer do that, it just one bill" we explained in the past we had seperate checks and we were told once again "Sorry we no longer do that" when we explained several of us wanted to use debit cards, he said we could do that. Well when the bill came we were given one check with no breakdown and told to pay in a single transaction. What a problem this caused because quite a few of us had a shortage of the required amount of cash to perform our part of the transaction, so others in our group who had cash, had to bail out those who did not, then those generous folk had to wait for the future recompense of their generosity in a embarrassing moment. To further complicate things we had to figure out indidual percentages of tax and tip. It was real pain in the direare. As for the food it it was not up to the standards of previous visits, the pasta dish had a tasty tomato sauce that was to be sullied with pasta that was cooked way overtime, to the point of being mushy and with the shrimp transitioned into a rubbery consistency. My daughter who asked to have her fish prepared in a certain manner was served something completely different then requested, when she received her meal she explained "this was not the way in which she had requested her food to be prepared" the server took it away with no problem, only to have them return the same plate a few minutes later with no changes. By this point we were so frustrated, we salvaged what we could of the meal to enjoy and suffered through the rest. Overall we would have been completely dissatisfied and disappointed with the evening if it were not for the company of our wonderful friends. Next time we will be considering other more accomitdating facilities when dining as a group.

Fantastic operation! Although the parking lot (as well as street parking) is minimal the customer service and quality of food is exceptional! I must compliment the executive chef for his hospitality. He noticed me standing in a crowded entry way by myself with an infant in carrier and got me a seat right away and had my Togo order to me with exceptional speed. I will definitely return.

After seeing the crowd tonight, I think it's safe to say the neighborhood is very happy Lucky Fish has opened. The place was packed at 7:30 but my friends and I were seated after only waiting about 5 minutes. The menu has a lot of options that sound good so it was hard to choose just one thing. My friends both went for the lobster rolls and if I hadn't gone to Maine this summer and eaten amazing Maine lobsters straight out of the water, I would've ordered the lobster roll too. That trip ruined lobster rolls for me and now I can never order them outside of New England. I went for the shrimp po boy with hushpuppies instead. We also ordered a 1/2 lbs of cod for to share. The po boy was filled with plump shrimp and I would happily order it again. Hushpuppies were a little on the dense side but still very good. Both my friends thought the lobster rolls were a little too salty and dressed in too much mayo. Angela S has a picture of the menu showing $13 for the lobster roll but on this night it was $14.50. I don't know when that picture was taken but it couldn't have been that long ago. I noticed the prices of some other menu items have also increased by about $1. The cod was a hit with everyone and were portioned like fish sticks instead of big pieces so it made it easy to share. Service was ok. We weren't given any napkins or silverware with our food. Initially, we thought someone would come around after dropping off the food but no one did. We had to flag someone down and even then, they only gave two settings and two napkins when there were three of us. That isn't enough to keep me away though. I hit up Curry Hut from time to time for lunch but they haven't been very good lately. Thankfully, I now have Lucky Fish as a tasty alternative.

Very good food, as would be expected from a Once upon restaurant. The lobster Mac and cheese is as good as any you would get at a 5 star restaurant in the city. They packed it with lobster too. They do not skimp on portions at all. I enjoyed the clams and Mexican shrimp cocktail , all delicious. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star was because of the slow service. They need to add another server or two during peak dining times.

Stopped in before the Buddy Guy show at Ravinia for dinner and really enjoyed the fried bay scallops and lobster roll. The scallops were sweet and perfectly cooked with a nice cocktail sauce. The lobster roll with kettle chips was just as good and they didn't skimp with the lobster. Service was friendly and very attentive. The staff was constantly checking on us and never had to be called over. I only wish it wasn't so far from me, I would definitely be a regular. Will return when I'm in the area. Definitely a hidden gem.

Wow so I came here from a recommendation and I am so glad I did. First, I ordered some take out and then the owner came out to ask if I wanted a FREE GLASS OF WINE while I waited. Yum! Fun and terrific service. Went here Monday eve, w/ 2 friends. The server bent over backward to meet our every wish. Even tho we were the last customers, we never felt rushed or unappreciated. And the fresh seafood....perch, shrimp, lobster roll. Even tho I live on the Atlantic, if this was in MY neighborhood, I'd be a regular!

Big fan of Mean Wiener next door, also by Once Upon a Bagel. Great dog with homemade fries for $3! Took out from new Lucky Fish. Wow! Once Upon sure knows how to sense what's missing in the area. Good seafood at reasonable prices without al the "ambiance" that doubles the price. Skeptical about raw oysters "to go" but very nicely packed. One reviewer found them pricey for blue points??? $18/doz. vs $30-36 for the a Chicago "nicer" places. They may call them something fancier at those places but you are never sure what kind of oysters you are really getting. Clam chowder was filled with clams and lobster roll, likewise had lots of lobster and well priced at $13. It was Friday during Lent, but early at 6:00 and parking lot was full. Highland park restaurants that fail blame everyone but themselves; movie theatre closed, rent's too high, Highland Parker's are too demanding...BS. Like Nortons , Bluegrass, Hole In The Wall; provide good food with good service at a reasonable price and you will succeed. Kudo's to once Upon a Bagel for taking a risk, again.

When I saw the menu, I wanted to try everything! Fresh, delicious, and well priced. The soups are generously ladled, incredibly tasty, and come with good toasty bread. I wish I could remember the name of the soup I had--Fairmont?--it was intensely flavored, broth-based, & loaded with hunks of a variety of seafood. The lake trout is wonderful and available by the half-pound or pound. Slaw was good, but the portion quite small. Linguine w/clams is also good and loaded with clams. My friend ate the paella, which she said was spicy and delicious. Many of the dishes have several preparation options; I go with grilled so I feel less guilty when I eat the AMAZING bread pudding with ice cream for dessert. You've never had anything like it! The place is casual, smallish so it can be crowded & loud on a busy night. I like to eat in the "garage" by the hot stones where there is less bustle. I've been twice and plan to return again and again. I'd like to tell you to stay away so it's less crowded, but that would be shellfish--I mean selfish. Enjoy.

Lobster roll: unreal. I have family in Maine, and Lucky Fish makes you feel like you are 30 feet from the ocean, not our Great Lake. Oysters: fresh and delicious--don't be afraid! Excellent, quick service. Come early; leave happy. And they have beer! Hip Hop Hooray!

oyster po boy was ok, sauce was good, a basic po boy, broccoli slaw was good but the reason i say it was ok is because the oysters were kind of greasy like the temp of the oil they were fried in wasn't hot enough and so they soaked up a bit of the oil i will try something else there soon and retry and repost

I almost don't want to leave a review for fear they will get more crowded. I love the food - salads - po boys - the specials - have all been outstanding. I eat here a couple times a month and have never had a bad meal (although I have had a bad seat - some tables should just not be)

Great eclectic casual atmosphere! Oysters fresh & delicious. Perch was A+ & who can say no to hush puppies! Our new favorite restaurant. Thank you chef Sandoval for an excellent addition to Highwood & the north shore.

I definitely took the offer lol. I got home and was pleasantly surprised by the quality. I have since been back multiple times. Good job Lucky Fish on finding a niche.

They have been open a week and I've gone 2x. It's hidden behind the Mean Wiener. I got the Lake perch and Jumbolia. Atmosphere and service was great.

I love this place. I don't know of another place in the north shore that you can get amazing lobster rolls at a reasonable price! I have been here several times and the lobster rolls are my go to item. They are filled will tons of lovely sweet, tender, delectable lobster chunks. But they also star a spicy, creamy remoulade sauce. You have your choice of sides. I would skip the hush puppies. I found them a bit dry and not very flavorful. I do really like both the broccoli slaw and the Cajun fries. I like to dip the fries in the remoulade sauce. On my most recent visit I tried the shrimp po boy for the first time. It was good but was a bit light on the shrimp. Would have been perfect if they had just put one or two more shrimp in it, The desserts are also highlights! Love the key lime pie! Be sure to save room!

My husband and I ordered take out from here when it had just opened and were disappointed with the food. So we finally got around to trying it again and decided to eat at the restaurant this time, It made quite a difference eating there. I had a salad with the mahi mahi fish on top and my husband had the lobster tacos which he thought were also very good. The jicama slaw that came with the tacos were delicious. The one thing we could do without were the crab cakes that we ordered as an appetizer. They were cold and slightly burned on the top. Aside from that we will definitely be back.

Wow. Get here immediately! For the price and the freshness, this place cannot be beat. I ordered the signature clam chowder along with the cornbread shrimp stuffed peppers all to be washed down with a Lagunitas IPA....OMG. My mouth is still watering thinking about the food. The service was polite and very attentive as well. The atmosphere was very casual yet decorated. Fantastic restaurant in the Highland Park area.

Drunken shrimp was good. Green Pea lobster soup and Louisiana clam chowder was good. Lobster roll sandwich was good too. Wait staff very attentive but felt rushed. Chocolate soufflé was runny so they gave us a second one but chopped it up at the table, which I thought was weird. Also, no military discount.

Sat on the very pretty patio (pity it looks over a car park). Service was very good and wait staff seemed happy to be working here. Great seafood selection. I had the lobster roll and hush puppies and my wife had Mahi Mahi. They were both great with the fish perfectly cooked. I'd never had hush puppies before so could not compare them to anything - these were OK but probably not something I'd order again. My wife's fries were great.

I just want to say that we have continued to come back here-- several times, actually, we live so close and it's so good-- and the lobster mac & cheese is now a household obsession. We get that, and then debate over what else to get and share, but really it's all about the lobster mac & cheese. So buttery, with huge pieces of lobster, and green onions that keep it from being too rich (haha). With it we've had the shrimp po boy, which was great though that is a LOT of carbs, you know, and also the Lucky's Salad with shrimp and the lemon dressing, which was basically perfect. I just wanted to update because I had to tell the world about the Lobster Mac & Cheese.

AMAZING FOOD!!!!!!!!! My husband and I sat outside to enjoy the weather- the overall ambiance of the place is great. We were seated immediately. The waiter was great- I ordered me a lobster roll and my husband had the skate fish that was on special- the lobster roll was delicious but the skate fish was to die for!!!!!! The chef even came out at the end to make sure we enjoyed our food. Do not miss tut of this place its a gem.

After having lunch at Lucky Fish Deli, I think I've found a good place to grab some grub. If you don't know where it is, Lucky Fish Deli is located behind the Mean Wiener, so it can be easy to miss. There's a parking lot there but it's usually pretty busy. If you see an open parking space on the street, just grab it. I've tried both the shrimp and catfish po boys. Super yum! They're served on very heavy hoagie rolls so I generally pick apart the sandwiches and eat them piecemeal which is just fine with me. The meat is deep fried but not overly done. They use a spicy mayonnaise which gives the sandwich just a little bit of kick. You can have a side of hush puppies or potato chips. I tried the hush puppies -- I had forgotten just how heavy they can be. But if you're a fan, then get them. The inside is kind of like a souped up diner. Casual tables and atmosphere but they've made some effort in making it feel nicer than your typical diner on the street. This is a terrific place to grab some lunch or even do take out.

This past Thurs. a friend and I went to the Lucky Fish and sat on the patio. We had been there once before. We each had the white clam chowder since we enjoyed it on our previous visit.. We split an order of the fettuccini with scallops. The scallops were grilled to perfection and the sauce was very tasty. Both of us felt it was an outstanding dish. My companion also had a glass of wine which she enjoyed quite a bit. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. We will definitely return and recommend the place to anyone who enjoys a good fish dinner.

The term "deli" is sort of misleading here... This place is a full on restaurant with plenty of outdoor seating. That said I completely enjoyed my lunch experience- the staff is very friendly and attentive, even more so the food was delicious! Had the lobster roll and Cajun French fries. Fresh, great flavors, well presented and fairly priced. I live in PA but when visiting friends I would absolutely dine here again!

This was out first time to eat here. The clam chowder was excellent. Not too spicy and a nice red color. Two of our party had the lobster tacos. They were just ok. Home made kettle chips weren't great. Would not order again. I had the salmon special. It was excellent. The lentils it was served over where very tasty. Cute decor. Would come again.

So two weeks after being in Florida and I'm back on the fish kick!!! I missed out on eating oysters down in Florida because my wife does not like them, so when I saw that the Once Upon folks opened up a seafood joint next to the Mean Weiner, I decided I had to go get me some!!!! Oysters were terrific, fresh blue points served with lemon and mango salsa. I also appreciated the plethora of sauce choices at all the tables, from malt vinegar to Mexican habanero hot sauce, they got you covered. Service was excellent. The dining room was about half full at noon on a Thursday. I told my waiter I was in a bit of a rush and he placed my order immediately. Very attentive I was in and out in about a half hour. Four stars because it's a tad bit pricey here, particularly 9 bucks for the half dozen oysters. I also felt my lobster roll lacked a bit of flavor. I resisted using any sauces or condiments on my roll, but very well could have considering that the bulk of flavors I tasted besides the lobster were celery and mayo. But they do allow for the lobster flavor to shine, and it was extremely fresh and tasty on it's own. I will definitely come back when I'm in the area again or craving seafood.

Amazing lobster rolls-- definitely the best around! Drawback: no reservations. So when we came to eat here one (week)night, we found quite the line. And the waitress in charge of taking names did not do a great job of managing it. She took names, but paid no attention to the number of people in each party so that even as small tables emptied around the room, there was nowhere for our party of 5 to sit. We were told it would be a 5 minute wait, it ended up being more like 35. Super annoying, made a bit better after the executive chef apologized and ensured the rest of the meal went smoothly!

I was very impressed and pleased with the food here. The Po Boy's were fantastic, nice large pieces of seafood that have a very nice light batter, and excellent remoulade on a very nice fresh toasted house made baguette. I can't wait to go back and try the paella and lobster. One thing I would add to the menu is a combo po boy, it should have shrimp and clams or even shrimp, clams, and scallops.

Loved this place and I will be back to try more of the menu. Had a lobster roll that was filled with lobster and flavor. The drunken shrimp was excellent. I thought for a fish joint the value was really good. $13 for the lobster roll. Beer and wine. Maybe around 20 tables. Located behind the overrated Mean Wiener. They actually share the same building.

The best value / quality seafood on the North Shore. Great fried shrimp, fresh salmon and other fish and various types of Po Boys. Cannot beat for the price. Good friendly service. From the owners of Once upon a bagel so they know how to run a restaurant. Highly recommend.

I had a big order: Clam Chowder, Drunken Shrimp, and Lobster Mac and Cheese. Clam Chowder was actually pretty good, it was peppery and not overly salted, most of the clams were tender. Drunken Shrimp were pretty disappointing. They lacked seasoning and seemed pretty overcooked. The sauce by itself was okay when I dipped the bread that's given to you in it. Finally the Lobster Mac and Cheese was pretty good, didn't taste much cheese, but was still creamy. They had very big chunks of lobster in it which was nice, but it was a tad bit over cooked. Like I've seen in other reviews the prices are a little steep. $9 for drunken shrimp (there were about 6 shrimp) seems a little high. And 14 for Mac and cheese, regardless of the lobster may be asking a little to much. But all in all I would come back here!

    (4)
  • Rei M.

I thought for a fish joint the value was really good. $13 for the lobster roll. Beer and wine. Maybe around 20 tables. Located behind the overrated Mean Wiener. They actually share the same building.

I can't begin to tell you how much we enjoyed our experience at Lucky Fish Deli! Food, decor and service ....OUTSTANDING! Me and two others each ordered a different entree and we were all beyond thrilled with our choices. Staff was helpful and worked as a team to service and satisfy. We'll be back....for sure!!

Great eclectic casual atmosphere! Oysters fresh & delicious. Perch was A+ & who can say no to hush puppies! Our new favorite restaurant. Thank you chef Sandoval for an excellent addition to Highwood & the north shore.

I definitely took the offer lol. I got home and was pleasantly surprised by the quality. I have since been back multiple times. Good job Lucky Fish on finding a niche.

I almost don't want to leave a review for fear they will get more crowded. I love the food - salads - po boys - the specials - have all been outstanding. I eat here a couple times a month and have never had a bad meal (although I have had a bad seat - some tables should just not be)
