Orange chicken was good. It was not overly sweet and the chicken had just enough coating. It was freshly cooked at the time of purchase. No complaints.

It is pretty cheap, Chinese fast food. I had a 1 entree plate and a medium drink for $7.81 including tax. The 1 entree plate is $5.49 and the 2 entree special is $5.99 so you can easily get a lot of food if you want. They man at the counter offered a free sample of a piece of chicken so that was nice. There were plenty of napkins, plastic ware, and sauces available by the register. The portion size is sizable. I think the 1 entree plate would fill up most people. The taste is ok...nothing bad but what you'd expect from a Chinese place at a food court. I would recommend it if you were walking around the mall and felt like eating Chinese food, but it isn't a place to specifically go out of your way to eat there.

Really good price for what I ate. Two servings of meat and white rice was under $6. Some of the rice seemed a little hard but once I mixed it up with the Orange Chicken I had, I couldn't notice it.

China Max is a mall food court Chinese food stand located inside Stratford Square mall. I work right near the mall and periodically use my lunch break to go into the mall and look around and grab a bite to eat on the go. There are a variety of restaurants in the mall and the food court, but time and time again I wind up at China Max and I'm about to explain why. China max has a particularly unique characteristic of producing Chinese food that tastes great initially, but that gets progressively worse and worse with every subsequent bite. You can usually get an initial taste of Orange Chicken or General Tso's chicken as a freebie, given out by whomever is manning the booth on a toothpick by merely walking anywhere within the vicinity of the food court. Needless to say it's quite a clever and effective marketing ploy. China max runs deals that basically give you a styrofoam container full of rice and two scoops of entrees (almost all of which are variations of chicken) for $5.99. Once you eat that first bite you'll say "Wow, I can't believe this is in the mall food court, it's so flavorful and delicious" by the sixth bite you'll be saying "Wow, I can't believe I ate this". I'm giving China Max two stars and normally after such a review I'd say "I can't recommend it, and I wouldn't go back". But to be honest I'm sure in a month or two I'll be suckered in by a free sample, convincing myself the last time i had it that it wasn't as bad as I remembered and be eating there again, and regretting it a couple of minutes later.

I can't believe I'm reviewing a fast-food restaurant in a shopping mall food court, but I am. And here's why - it's the standard Chinese fast-food fare you should expect from the mall's food court (i.e., don't expect too much), but they hook you up here! It was right at lunchtime too, and not end of day when you think they would just want to get rid of the food so give out piles. Maybe they were in a hurry to serve the long line this day and weren't paying attentions to portions, but I ordered a two-entrée plate and they gave me enough to feed 3 people. The lid on my to-go box barely closed (and I had to smash the food down to close the lid). Price was great for that amount of food - $6 and some change. The food was decent. We had the orange chicken, mandarin chicken, and fried rice. Greasy, definitely not healthy, yet tasty enough and serves the purpose of filling your stomach during a shopping trip. Also, I like that they're not stingy with their plasticware/chopsticks and napkins. They have those all laid out nicely in front of the register and don't frown at you when you pick up a pile of napkins, or worse yet, hand you your food with one (paper-thin) napkin!

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
