Burger and fries were good. The cashier on the other hand was extremely rude and disrespectful. Rolling his eyes and shaking his head blatantly in front of us. Did not feel comfortable after that and he's lucky he didn't catch a slap to the face after that. Just a complete jerkoff!!!

Gotta love delicious hand pressed burgers and the fries...Best fries around. Please, promise me you will try the cajun fries. They are delicious and make them that much better. The hot dogs are a good change of pace from the local hot dog places and Portillos as well. It's split down the middle and seared.

Great place, nice people, really good burgers.

Have you ever been to a fast food place where the staff is overly excited to great you? yelling in unison "hello, welcome to potbelly!" or something.... not this place. Here the high school age, all female staff, yells "Not It!" as in, not it to work the cash register!.... lol ridiculous. $12 for a cheese burger, small fries. and drink. fact. The super greasy burgers make for an excellent base layer before a night/day of drinking. the fries are good and thick cut, perfectly salted, If your going to commit to this place make sure you halve a clean bathroom in your near future. i guarantee you will need a trip or two within 2 hours of this dining experience.... but you know.... sometimes you just have to do it. Nawhatimsayin"? Lastly if you are in the mood for a greasy burger, for the price of a gourmet burger at a sit down place without the wait,,, here are 2 tips to get your money worth. 1) load up on free peanuts, and take a bag home with you. 2) get a large pop to fully utilize the amazing fountain beverage machine. its the kind where you can add all kinds of syrup flavoring to all kinds of crazy offerings like mellow yellow or powerade. These pops make for excellent custom mixers for booze. plus with your super size five guys cup, no one will suspect you're boozing on the go. cheers.

Eh! I don't know what all the fuss is about. The little bacon cheeseburger was nothing special. Cooked well which is good. The fries are tasty but super super salty. I've had better. I do love the free peanuts.

This chain of burgers would be my afternoon snack today. I couldn't decide if I wanted two bunless burgers or one Little Hamburger. I did decide that I would not like my order messed up. I went with the Little Hamburger with pickles, onions, and mushrooms. When I received my burger, it came with just mustard. Not a huge deal, but there was no one else in the restaurant besides my friend and I. He got the bacon cheese burger with extra mayo (he knows I loathe that sh*t). He loves that place so I obliged. All these burger chains are the same...Five Guys, Meatheads, Revburger, Smashburger ETC. Trying to be that hip McDonald's type place. Whatever, I will stick to Culver's, Wendy's, and the golden arches for my chain burgers.

Good, fresh hot burger..super soft bun, & perfectly melted cheese..this hit the spot! Fries cooked and salted perfectly. .nice and crispy..overall, a good burger experience. .had a huge grin after one bite! I'd go back here for a burger craving again. Beats any fast food place!! Prices aren't unreasonable either.

The burgers and fries are good but it seems really pricey. There are a bunch of toppings available for the burgers. The portion size is large. Thry also have hot dogs but I've never ordered one. Extra fries are dumped in a paper bag and the fries taste good. I like how the restaurant shows where they get their potatoes on a little chalkboard. The food is extremely greasy so so you are into heart health, this isn't the best place. The fountain drinks come from this machine that has a bunch of possibilities for different combinations. That machine isn't too common and I've only seen it at Five Guys restaurants and one other bowling place. My main complaint is the price. My wife and I each got burgers, fries, and a drink and the bill was $30 or so with tax. I know I could go other places and get a burger and fries for way cheaper. The food was good so I might go again but definitely not a first choice with those prices.

It's Five Guys - good burgers made to order. Fresh cut fries in peanut oil with extra tossed in the bag. Peanuts available to eat. Friendly staff. Overpriced food. This is the part that gets me every time. Went with a buddy and spent nearly 28 bucks for two burgers fries and drinks. That was crazy.

Five Guys was ok. The burger was good and I like the way you are able to build a burger. The signs say something about being rated as having the best fries or something. They were ok, I had better and I had worse. I ordered the small fry and could only finish the extra fries that didn't fit in the cup which was basically another cup. It would be a plus if I actually really liked the fries.

For me the Five Guys burgers are the tastiest burgers in the universe!!!:) So quickly made and so delicious! Always fresh and smell amazingly! Service is always fast and friendly! Best fries i have ever tried:)

This place can do no wrong from what I've seen. I'm not really a burger guy. Being a Chicago native I usually pick a nice vienna beef hot dog over a burger but every once in a while a change of pace is good. I decided to stop by this place for a burger for dinner. I got the: Little Cheeseburger (5.00): No big surprise, its great. Huge selection of free toppings. Burger is fresh and cooked and assembled right in front of you. Its the size of a regular quarter pounder at mcdonalds Little Fries (2.79): Don't let the name fool you, "Little" at this place does not mean small in regards to both portion and size. I basically got 2 pounds of potato in a brown bag. They were hand cut fries and came piping hot. Again, no surprise they were awesome. Drink: (2.29): Somehow they managed to out do a lot of places even in the soda department. They had 2 coke freestyle machines which has hundreds of different choices and combinations. You can flavor your sprite or coke with even more flavors like cherry or orange or vanilla. Does it surprise anyone that a place that only serves burgers, fries, and soda does all three spectacularly well? I also thought the decor was amusing, its basically big bold signs with all their accolades and awards all over the place so if you even think of a criticism, it makes you think there is something wrong with YOU, not the place. Again I'm not a burger guy but if i were, this would be my second home.

$13.33 for a burger fries and a drink is ridiculous. I will never come here again. Our group spent almost $40.00 combined for three people. No wonder there is nobody here at 1:30.

I like the fast and friendly service at this place! It's nice to be able to sit and eat some peanuts while watching my burger get made. They have excellent fries and of course the burgers are excellent as well.

Five Guys Burgers and Fries is a chain of casual dining eateries that has popped up in Chicagoland over the past few years. This particular location is on Army Trail Road in Bloomingdale. Inside of Five guys is a clean eatery with a handful of tables set up inside along with a coke machine that dispenses a wide array of flavors of various Coca-Cola products. They have a fairly limited menu consisting of Burgers, Fries and hot dogs. In visiting Five Guys I decided to try the hot dog. Now, Five Guys does not sell a Chicago style hot dog exactly, but gives you the option to put whatever you want on the dog. While they didn't have sport peppers, celery salt or long pickle slices I was able to get them to make something resembling a Chicago style hot dog. The hot dog I received came on a soft bun. The dog itself was sliced in half to be wide enough to fit on this larger than normal bun. The mustard was fine, the relish was a bit too sour for a hot dog and the onions are slices up nicely. The problem with this hot dog is the sausage itself. It has an unpleasant taste and reminds me of cheap hot dogs I would use as fishing bait as a child. It has a flavor that almost reminds me of the smell emitted when spraying certain insecticides. While this isn't any sort of a real attempt at a Chicago style hot dog, it's just plain awful. I'd recommend avoiding it.

I have been going to the Bloomingdale location since it opened a few years ago and have not been disappointed. I went there this week and it is a great place whether you want it to go, or have a quick sit down lunch. The service couldn't be faster, and basic menu of burgers, grilled hot dogs and sides are all good. The Staff is always friendly here. Don't go here if you are calorie conscious. Oh, you can snack on the free salted peanuts while you're waiting.

I enjoy burgers and this establishment is usually pretty consistent. the fries are always fried fresh and the burgers are made to order. While I like the fries, I am not craxy about cajun style and they definitely give you too many. The fries fill the cup and they almost always dump some in the bag. As result, I always share the fries with someone else unless I am ordering alone. Also, if you are a peanut fan, you have free peanuts at your disposal. I do not particularly care for peanuts so I have never tried them. Surprisingly this location is never very crowded. However, when I go in there are usually a few people in there. Cool spot and pleasent staff.

Ahh yea, talk about one of America's top burgers and nearly best burger in Chicago! I love the location, its kick ass staff, the 100% ground beef, cajun fries, and happy atmosphere! Also, the small fries feed 2+ people and single pattie burger is more than filling for a big guy but test the DOUBLE BURGER if really hungry! Well, if we haven't already met chances are good we will cause I eat here 2-3 times every week! 5 guys is sounding good right about now!

Burgers were good, I didn't care for the fries at all. I thought they were overpriced and although the burger was good I wasn't own away at all. I would return if my company insisted on going here but I don't think I'd ever go on my own.

Your typical burger place but definitely much better than your lowly cheap cheeseburger. We'll eat here if we feel like something that has some smokey taste to it. The service is good and people are cordial. That's also important for any establishment. If I don't know what I want to order, they're very patient with me. The only thing that bothers me about this place is their soda machine. Coke taste like Lemon Coke. I think it needs to be cleaned out.

Decent burgers, good for a change of the regular mundane fast food places...

This is our go-to place for burgers. They're pretty large and very yummy- packed with cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, mushrooms, pickles, etc. I even find that the little cheeseburger is big enough for a meal. They give you so many fries and add more to the bag (the hubs and I definitely have to share those). The Cajun fries are really good too. The atmosphere could probably use a remodel and it's not necessarily the most comfortable, but it's adequate. I do wish sometimes that their menu would have a few more items but for burgers it's great.

A lot of friends after realizing that I'm originally from California have compared the West Coast chain of In-N-Out Burger to that of Five Guys. As a fan of In-N-Out (you can see a review on my profile for the hometown location), I was early anticipating Five Guys to see if they lived up to the hype. The Good Stuff: + Free peanuts while you wait + Plenty of fixins' you can throw on top of your burger + I told the cashier "Al" that it was my first trying Five Guys and he gave me a free drink cup. That's not a bad way to start! + The burger was cooked well-done, no mushy meat + Fries came inside a large cup, and overfilled into the bag The Bad Stuff: - The sesame bun was bland, easily tasted like it was store bought, plus it was mushy, would have been much better if they toasted it - For $9 including tax, it is pricey for fast food So I ordered a cup of their regular "Five Guys Fries" which were tasty, if not a bit on the greasy side. I mixed my own version of ketchup, ground pepper and vinegar on top of the fires and it was zesty baby! Don't be afraid to mix it up, that's what I say. Moving on to the burger, they give you just about every sauce and condiment option available. I added everything, subtracted mayo and substituted A1 Sauce instead. Overall, it was very tasty, but the lame bun just gave way like wet toilet paper and was no match for the overflowing grilled onions and other goodness. It took a considerable bit of finesse not to stain the dress shirt I had on. The burger and all of the components were solid, but they need to get rid of those lousy buns. You wouldn't pay Santa a visit at the North Pole if you'd been naughty, would you? Well, the burger has been a "good" child for the most part, but the bun in the closet it going to get a lump o' coal. Overall, I have mixed feelings about Five Guys. The price is matching that of several sit down restaurants, but the quality is only solid, but not outstanding. With a little work, they would be able to justify their price with better buns. In the mean time, I'll be back on the beat searching for Chicago's best burger this coming week. Stay tuned.

Good food and fairly cheap. The little bacon burger was great. Standard burger condiments available, if you don't ask you'll get a plain burger. Portions are large, especially the fries. Another great thing I like is there pop machine. It's the kind with several different coke products with flavored pop too. I had a cherry fanta which was great.

I have become a big fan of Five Guys. This location is in my neighborhood and the people that work there are super friendly not to mention the burgers, fries and dogs never disappoint. Sometimes I can't decide between Cajun or regular fries so they give me half & half. And the fries are plentiful and so so delicious. Love the dog cooked on the grill. Not a Chicago native so I appreciate buns without poppy seeds and someone not putting the whole refrigerator on my hot dog. I've never seen them skimp on toppings which is much appreciated. I will continue to patronize this Five Guys ... Not just for the awesome food but the wonderful staff who treat me like family.

$6.79 for just a cheese burger.... $3.79 for just a fry... and $2.29 for a medium coke... total for 1 person was $13.87. Really? This burger is good - but the prices are just ridiculous. Won't come back without discounts of some sort.

These guys have grown on me. I don't think I am ready to give them four stars quite yet, but I have learned quite a bit over the last year and a half. If eating a regular burger (two patties), three average adults can share a large fry. I much prefer the regular fries to the Cajun fire which I think are woefully over seasoned. They put in two Coke Freestyle machines. These are really cool and offer a lot of variety. They have only gotten my order wrong once here. I asked for BBQ sauce on the side and ended up with ketchup on the burger instead. Disappointing, but still edible. I learned that they slice a hot dog lengthwise and cook it on the griddle so I may have to try that on my next visit. All in all, it's a good place to stop for a burger and fries with free refills on a drink.

  • Clint B.

Good burger, good fries.........The drink flavor adder is pretty cool. Not going to be a regular there, but had to see what the hype was about. For me, I'd rather hit up a local burger/dog joint.

  • Ed B.

I can't really complain about the food, or the place, but I can't rave about it either. The burgers are decent, but you can do much better at pretty much any non chain burger around. Alfie's in Glen Ellyn comes to mind immediately. And putting cayenne pepper on fries does not make them Cajun. My biggest problem with this place is the price. Two regular burger, a small burger, a regular and small fry plus three drinks was 32 bucks for lunch! You can take your kids to Wendy's and feel just as satisfied for about half the price. Maybe they should let one or two of the five guys go so they can lower their prices and I'll go back. The price is definitely not worth it!

What happened, Five Guys? You used to be cool. Shortly after I met my future wife and would visit her in suburban DC, she introduced me to a small but popular hamburger place with bad parking called Five Guys, and while falling for the girl, I fell for the burger place too. We'd walk in and, right away, a guy would yell to us, "How many burgers you gonna have?" My wife suggested at first that we each get a little one, meaning one patty, as it was plenty big with the toppings. We'd order in advance so often in next few years that, on the phone base itself, we wrote the phone number and our toppings. She was LH L T P K M, I was LH L T P FO A1. We'd split a small order of fries, which always overflowed the styrofoam cup in the bottom of the bag. It was the oldest of three Five Guys in existence at the time. What made the place great was not just the quality of the hamburger. It was the joy in seeing how many Saturday-at-noon customers were wearing baseball caps, looking for a hangover remedy in the afterglow of their Friday night. It was the habit of eating peanuts while waiting, cracking the shells and throwing them on the floor like everyone else did. It was the whiteboard that told us from where the potatoes came. Usually Maine, but sometimes Idaho and other sundry spots. It was the struggle to come up with a message to put on an index card, one that would trump all the others stuck to the bulletin board. (I actually left a bunch of my own thumbtacks there, to make sure every card could have its moment in the sun.) And it was the price: our two burgers and fries cost $7.06. Cheap, basic, great. We loved Five Guys and they loved us back, unconditionally. Fast forward twelve years. Five Guys restaurants are everywhere. And, frankly, they disappoint. Not that they offer terrible food. No, the food's decent. But it used to be better. So much better. Is it the lack of quality control? The Bloomingdale location, which is closest to me but still not close, has yet to cook the fries properly; perhaps it's the quality of potato they use now, or perhaps fry cooks here don't know their craft or don't care. After three visits, I gave up coming to this one. There's no love there. Is it the lack of ambiance? I have yet to see an Illinois customer throw peanut shells on the floor. Don't y'all get it? That's how it's done! Why on earth would they leave open boxes of peanuts by the ordering area if being sloppy was a no-no? Five Guys was the place for sloppy, hungover, not-so-fresh people! Is it the competition? There are so many "gourmet burger" places around now. They have many fancy choices and ingredients, and they charge a ton for them. Five Guys' ingredients haven't gotten any better, but their prices would make you think so. The prices have nearly doubled. Still basic, but no longer cheap. Perhaps that what happens when a corporate strategy is so hellbent on expansion that franchisees are forced to invest in at least FIVE locations. That's right! You wanna open a Five Guys? Better find four other people just like you and team up. Five Guys used to be our crown jewel. It's not ours alone anymore, which is good, I guess. All of America can experience it now. But it's no longer a crown jewel either. It's an overpriced burger and fries that can be great but usually disappoints, in a location that lacks character and warmth. They used to be "guys," dressed in T-shirts and talking about the football game. Now they wear expensive suits and talk about derivatives in the market. Occasionally my wife and I will visit one of the other locations, with hopes of finding that magic again. But no matter how many different flavors of Coke the new-fangled machine can program for us, there's still a sour taste in my mouth. Ever run into an old friend that has made it big? Niceties are shared, and you congratulate him on his newfound fame and success, but you think to yourself, "what the heck happened to him? He used to be cool." But take care of yourself, Five Guys. Let's do lunch. Someday. Maybe.

I loved my burger it was great. Although the guy behind me ordered his burger and fries after me and so did the guy behind him and they both had gotten their food before me. I ordered one burger. I'm not sure what had happened but hopefully it doesn't happen again.

  • Nektaria R.

I can't help it. I love Five Guys and unless something horrible happens, they will always get at least four stars from me. Had be best little cheeseburger with grilled onions, shrooms and other goodies on top just this past weekend. Loved it! So juicy, so perfect. I don't understand why they need that many people though behind the counter. There must have been five or maybe it was six? Oh well, who cares, the burgers are great. By the way, the now have the freestyle coke machine. That was kind of fun. Unfortunately, I hate fizzy drinks, yes, I'm a freak. So one sip of the diet root beer and I was done. Hubby loved it though.

  • Neil M.

Not really impressed with this place. Their burgers are thin and well done. They do not make them any other way. Fries just OK. prices are a bit higher then other similar places.

    (2)
  • Matt M.

These burgers are highly overrated. They are not bad by any means, but they are mostly just greasy. I do see the appeal of a greasy fast food burger, but I don't see the originality in it. Anyone can make a greasy burger and I honestly don't see how they consider it something of genuine value. That being said, it is a not a bad burger and no horribly expensive. So its not something you refuse if a group drags you here.

    (3)
  • Lola K P.

This is a nice, clean outpost of a chain that's not bad at all if I feel like fast food, a couple times a year. The burgers don't look or taste mass produced. Thumbs up for that. The 'regular' is actually a double patty, if I remember correctly, which was a bit too much for me, the second time I got the 'little cheeseburger' which is more my pace. The first time they forgot my grilled onions AND bbq sauce, which I paid for, and didn't find out until I got home, so check your order here. Good place, good fast food.

  • Eduardo S.

I've been to five guys in Virginia where this all started, this one is no different. Great staff, clean and quick service. Looking for a good meal for a reasonable price. Stop nowhere else.

    (5)
  • Tony L.

So when this chain moved into the area, I was excited to give it a try. I went to this location because I was waiting on something at the Sprint store in the same mall. I entered the place and thought it was pretty cool with the peanuts and decor and stuff. Then I saw the prices. What a rip off. I ended up getting a hot dog, fries and drink and paid almost $10. For a HOT DOG, FRIES AND A DRINK. Seriously, wtf is up with that? NO meal at a fast food place should be that damned expensive. The food was pretty good, but come one....ten dollars? Get some real pricing.

  • Robert G.

Went here over lunch, and this was my second time there. For whatever reason I didn't remember the first time to be anything special, but this time around I liked it enough to award four stars. Five Guys serves a pretty decent burger, at a pretty steep hit to the wallet. ($11 for a cheeseburger, fries and a drink!) With that said, they serve food to you by the pound, so if you're feeling particularly hungry, Five Guys will do you good. The fries aren't terribly greasy, but if you're going for flavor, you're better off with the cajun-style fries, which have a cumin/paprika kick to it. Dipping the regular fries in ketchup spiked with malt vinegar helped them along. The burger was flavorful. The patties are handmade and well seasoned, and the ingredients are made fresh. I don't remember much about the sesame seed bun. Peanuts are available on top of the trash cans (probably one of those quirky staples of the franchise) but we didn't have any. It's someplace I might go back to every once in a while

My boyfriend and I tried this place the other day, and we were not impressed. I don't eat red meat so I planned on getting their veggie sandwich. When I ordered it, the gentleman asked what I'd like on it. I had no idea, it didn't say what it came with. He told me it was the bun with ingredients you add to a hamburger. A lettuce, pickle, mayo sandwich doesn't sound appetizing on a bun, or worth $5. I went with the grilled cheese which was so small, my boyfriend asked if it would even be enough (I'm petite). My boyfriend got a hamburger which fell apart before he was halfway done eating it. The fries were ok, but not amazing like all the signs say in the restaurant. For both of us to eat there, and we shared a pop, it came out to nearly $20. We were throwing away our garbage, and noticed that they had peanuts you can eat while you wait for you food...except they were on the garbage can. I'm not sorry I missed them! Back to Portillos for good fast food!

  • Dennis S.

Popular, and it should be. We stopped in, ordered our customized burgers, and loved them. Friendly service, clean tables, excellent beef. We'll definitely stop again. Love the peanuts too.

    (4)
  • Kate K.

They are essentially gourmet burgers that try to pretend to be from your friends backyard bbq. If your friend could cook of course. The meat is good, the burgers are put together pretty fast, and a regular fry order is enough for two people to share. A large order is sometimes a lot, and sometimes the same amount you would have gotten had you ordered a regular order. Best part about them is the ability to order online. You can order it on your way home, select the time you want to pick it up, and only have to wait for the fries to be fresh made for you! If you are willing to hang out inside, you do get some free peanuts and they of course have the freestyle coke machine, to which the possibilities are endless! My biggest peeve and the reason I did not give 5 stars is because the online ordering doesn't work all the time, and they never seem to have a working phone. I have tried ordering ahead of time and been stuck in an endless loop of not being able to finalize, and calling the restaurant for information on hours or assistance with online ordering leads to either the phone being off the hook or the service being disconnected. Not cool when you are trying to get in and out of the restaurant with little hassle. All in all a good burger joint, with a lot of options for what goes on your burger, but a bit pricy for a 'non-gourmet' place.

  • Joanne W.

Finally! I got to experience Five Guys! I will just get down to it. Fries = 4 stars Burger - 3.25 stars Coca-Cola Freestyle Machine = 0 stars Wah! No coca-cola freestyle machine at this location! I was so sad. I love that machine and it's my latest obsession! Sigh...ok ok... A couple other things... The fries really are awesome and portioned to share. The burgers are good but they are not quite as good as In N Out burger...although I do like that you have your choice of toppings...any toppings...at no extra charge. Peanuts while you wait? Don't mind if I do. Overall, it was a good experience but nothing I would go out of my way for...at least not until they get that darn coca-cola freestyle machine!

Best burger place ever after In-n-Out Burger. It's the next best thing. Burgers are fresh and don't fall apart. Love the fresh cut fries and the peanuts are yummy. They also have soda water. The regular fries can be shared by two people, believe me.

Man, I love me some Five Guys. These are probably the best fast food burgers & fries you can find. (This is a bone of some contention, but I stand by it.) Having had it for the first and only time in Mishawaka, IN, we were thrilled -- gleeful, even -- when the husband and I saw that one was opening in Bloomingdale. We go to the Meijer nearby a lot and do other shopping in the area, so it's very convenient. And man, is it good. The burgers are juicy, hot and topped with whatever you want. The fries are fresh, cut from actual potatoes, still steaming hot and coated with salt or cajun seasoning. And that's pretty much the whole menu, save for a hot dog and a "veggie sandwich". (Oh, and free peanuts while you wait for your fresh-made food.) They only do a couple things, but they do them very, very well. God bless Five Guys for opening in Illinois. (PS Note that this will set you back a bit more than McDonald's or BK. But it's REAL FOOD. And a regular fry will serve two. And a regular burger has two patties. It's worth it.)

  • Rachael Z.

This place cooks their burgers to perfection. It does not have the fancy burger toppings like the other places or the other appetizers, but the juiciest, thickest, tastiest burgers in your life. The fries are simple-just a bit of seasoning but it is perfect in my mind, as it does not overpower the fries. They also have touch screen soda machines that have endless drink selections and free peanuts, so you can take however many you want. And for offering this, it is very clean. It also is very easy to see and great parking in front. If you want a hot dog, chicken sandwich, or anything other than burger and fries, go to any other place but this is great for burgers.

Our second visit to this location and, again, they didn't disappoint us. Saturday around 4pm and a couple of other tables were occupied. I was the only person eating peanuts and I actually felt guilty about throwing the shells on the floor but that's the routine. Still one of our favorite burger stops. As others have noted, I'm not sure why they feel the need to post the reviews and awards throughout the store. My guess is we all will decide for ourselves. I'm a fan but a little puzzled about the number of signs (including the bathroom).

If you like juicy burgers - turn back! I gave it a shot but I do not understand the hype! Why are people so fanatical about this chain? Flat pressed burgers over cooked and greasy fries and all for the "low" price of about $10? I do not like flat burgers. a GOOD burger to me is a nice juicy burger. I also do not like my burgers well done - which is the only way to have yours done here. This is just like a McD's burger but bigger and more expensive to me. People raved about the fries and the ones I had were soggy and greasy and limp. 2 burgers, 2 drinks and 1 fry was like $18. No thank you. I would prefer Steak & Shake and that is not saying much either!

Burgers and Fries, and they do have hot dogs, veggie, and grilled cheese sandwiches. Little burgers come with one patty. Regular burgers come with 2 patties. Hot dogs are cut down the middle and fried. You get to choose all your condiments at no extra cost: * Mayo * Relish * Onions * Lettuce * Pickles * Tomatoes * Grilled Onions * Grilled Mushrooms * Ketchup * Mustard * Jalapeno Peppers * Green Peppers * A-1 Sauce * Bar-B-Q Sauce * Hot Sauce The fries are Fresh Cut. The regular size is a huge serving...sometimes I wonder why they just don't pour the fries into the bag instead of over flowing in the styrofoam cup. Try the cajun fries, I like to get an order of plain and an order of cajun because sometimes the cajun seasoning can be a little overwhelming. Get the regular burger because you'll be regretting it once you finished your little burger.

I probably usually wouldn't bother to post a review for a basic burger joint, even though I definitely like a good five guys... But, they have a new-fangled coke machine. Coolest thing I've seen in a while. The flavored coke selection was awesome: not just the typical cherry coke (which is hard enough to find) but vanilla coke, cherry vanilla coke, lime coke, orange coke, raspberry coke. I will go just to get a raspberry coke.

I read the reviews before I went, and I was a bit nervous being as it was my first time; but I LOVED IT! Nathan K. was super helpful in his suggestions, explanations and really nice when I was being indecisive :) Everything was super fresh and tastey. I had the bacon cheese burger with grilled mushrooms, jalapeno peppers mayo and A1 sauce. -- mmm mmm good! Nathan K. also suggested the cajun fries with a side of A1 sauce and boy was it tatsey with a good kick! Loved the peanuts to nosh on whilst I was waiting. And I finally got to see this Coca Cola Free Style Machine, but I ended up drinking sweet tea! All in all, I think the place was really good -- clean -- and very nice staff! Shout out to Nathan K.!

If I wanted to sit down at Wendy's and munch on peanuts, I'd do it, and pay half the price. What's so special about these burgers? They taste like Wendy's. legit. I'm obese as hell, so please, don't tell me I don't know what I'm talking about. I'll eat your entire family and then yelp about yas.

I don't think there's anything more I can say about Five Guys that hasn't been said in previous reviews. Good burgers, VERY juicy, long list of condiments you can add. Pretty nice that A-1 is on the list. What suprised me is that I just said "Cheeseburger" when I ordered and well, their "cheeseburger" is a double patty burger. A little too big for what I wanted or normally get, but I guess since it was the first time I tried the burger, I should go "all out". Next time I have to remember to get the "Little Cheeseburger". The fries were ok--I prefer thinner and crispier fries, but these were still super fresh. One thing I noticed about this place was that it was SUPER clean. You can watch them make all the food behind the counter and they seemed to keep things spotless. VERY nice.

So my family went to eat at the five guys in Bloomingdale today. When we went in we saw that it said the fries were made in peanut oil so we told our daughter she couldn't have the fries because she is allergic. Well she started crying, as any 7 year old would when you tell her she can't have fries. The cashier felt bad and said she would take care of our meal, which she did. We were very appreciative. So then we were eating our cheeseburgers and one of the employees walks in with an order of fries from Mcdonalds for our daughter. If that is not customer service I don't know what is. I am so impressed with the customer service I received today. The employees working today should all get an award or bonus for going above and beyond.

The burger's here are pretty good. BUT my favorite thing to get here is the fries. Both are a bit on the pricy side but I'd say well worth it if you only get to come and eat here every so often. The wide selection of drinks that they have in that machine is pretty cool as well.

I'd give it 3.5 if possible. Good burgers and fresh cut fries, but a little pricey. The portions are large so go with a big appetite or split an order of fries with a friend. I enjoy the baskets of peanuts they have throughout the restaurant...great to nibble on while you wait for your food. Good for a quick lunch, but again a llittle pricey for a non-downtown location...$10 for a burger, fries, and drink.

I am starting to notice that the places I go to eat -- the ones that keep their menus short and to the point are the ones that I always end up liking the most. The same goes for Five Guys. First of all, my three year old daughter adores coming here because of the peanuts. She could care less about anything else, so long as she gets her peanuts. Second, my son does not like to eat cheeseburgers. You can take him anywhere, and the one thing he scrunches his face up to is when you mention a cheeseburger, yet somehow he loves this place too - and their cheeseburgers. Third - my husband absolutely puts everything on his burgers that he can find. This place is perfect for him. Where else can you get mushrooms, A-1, ketchup and 15 other toppings put on a burger? Fourth - I am a simple burger woman. Bacon, cheese and ketchup please. Not too hard, but many still manage to screw it up. Five Guys did not. My only thing about this specific location is that I felt the burgers were smaller than the ones I had at other Five guys locations. We've gone to this location twice now, and both times the burger - if you move it out of the center of the bun to one edge...they don't even go past half the bun. When you are paying $4.50 for a single patty - having it be a standard serving size would be outstanding. That aside, if you have a craving for burgers and AWESOME fries (cooked in peanut oil no less) - check this place out. Bonus: Everyday on the wall you can see where the potatoes came from, that made your fries. For some reason I just think that's fun.

I agree with most of the reviews of this place that it is kind of a souped up Wendy's. It you can overlook that analogy this place is worth checking out. They have a very short menu which is fine by me and if you do it well kudos. There are some positives and some negatives of this place that are obvious. The cost is a bit pricey but the food you get is well made and will stuff you. I got the regular burger with the works and the regular fries. I think the little burger and the regular fries would have filled me up but if your going to splurge why not go over the top. The burgers are all fresh and are cooked well done. I don't have an issue with that because the idea of eating raw AKA rare ground beef just doesn't appeal to me. The works comes with the usual fixings plus carmelised onions and mushrooms which add some nice flavor. Besides nacho cheese I'm a sucker for some good house cut fries that are cooked to perfection. All in all a good burger and some great fries but you can find a nice griddled burger at alot of diners for cheaper. Granted the fries probably won't be as good but you can save a few bucks a get a shake.

My rating is more like 2.5 stars, but I can't give half a star. Many people I know have RAVED about Five Guys so I figured I'd start my quest for the ultimate hamburger in the Chicagoland area here. Maybe it was my expectations that were set too high, but I have to say it was just ok. It was a little too greasy for my liking and lacked a flavor that made me feel I had gotten my money's worth. I did enjoy the fries, but just like the burgers they weren't "out of this world" like everyone had told me they were. Oh, I also liked the all you can eat peanuts. The folks at this particular location were nice and helpful which made for an over nice experience. Sorry Five Guys!

Really?? I don't understand the hype. 10 bucks for a burger, fries, and drink! I don't think so. Culver's does a better job and the prices are reasonable. This was my last visit and I won't go back. By all means try it yourself and then ask yourself was it really worth 10 bucks? I think once the novelty wears off (like Krispy Cream) this location will be a ghost town. When I go to bed tonight I'll pray for In-N-Out burger to migrate to the snow belt so everyone here can see and taste what their missing. Five Guys is just a poor copy of the West's classic institution of fresh, consistent, quality burgers.

Another overpriced, over-rated burger joint. I can't believe I just spent $11 for a sandwich (cheeseburger), fries and a drink. Plus, I asked for a cheeseburger and got a double. What a scam as this is what they call their "regular" burger. Very misleading! If I wanted a really good "big & thick" burger for about the same price, I would go to either Outback Steak house or Ruby Tuesdays where the burgers are not two patties thrown on a bun, but rather quality meat that can actually be prepared medium rare. You can't do that with patties. C'mon 5 guys, you are a burger joint, not a restaurant. Stop charging restaurant prices! In this economy a cheeseburger meal should cost no more than $5.99, not $11. There are better choices out there!

If a place is expensive, but amazing- they're worth my five stars. If the food is average and expensive, something's wrong with their business model... Like a few others, I really can't fathom why this burger place costs so darn much. I know McDonald's doesn't have squat on so-called 'fresh' burgers, but I received SO much more pleasure while eating the $1.89 Daily Double at McDonald's than my Five Guys burger. Basically, I demand a good taste-to-value ratio from all my food. If it tastes REALLY amazing, I am willing to part with $10-12 for something basic like a hamburger. However, the Five Guys burger was no better than the $3.50 hamburger from Portillo's and it was messier simply due to the way they stacked and cut the ingredients (sliced onions and tomatoes were cut too thick for a burger). Also, the beef is not 'Kobe beef,' so there's no reason for the price hike incurred here. I gave an extra star for the fries, which are home-cut and very good. Unfortunately, this place is not convenient to get to, overpriced and kind of looks like White Castle (hospital-like), so it's an all-around turnoff for me and I will not go back. Portillo's, you are still king of the mountain.

Five Guys is currently the closest thing a Chicagoan can get to the In & Out Burger experience without hopping on a plane and flying at least 3.5 hours away. They make their burgers and fries fresh and to order, with a wide variety of free toppings that include some you just don't see at the standard burger joints. Toppings like mushrooms, grilled onions, peppers, hot sauce, BBQ sauce, A1 sauce, etc. The burgers are juicy, delicious and taste like they were freshly made (rather than being delivered by a freezer truck the night before). My step-daughter actually proclaimed her cheeseburger to be the best she has ever eaten in her short, 13 years of life on earth. I'd say a Five Guys burger could fall within the top 10 for me, but I've had many more years of eating burgers than she has! Getting back to the freshness, even the fries are made on site, where they take whole potatoes and cut them into strips for the fryer. This is evidenced by the large bags of fresh potatoes forming a wall between the waiting area and the rest of the restaurant, as well as the sign on the wall proclaiming where today's potatoes for the french fries came from (usually some unheard of city in Idaho with the name of the farm where they were harvested). Another nice touch are the free peanuts (still in the shell) that Five Guys has on hand for you to serve yourself while you await your order. The inescapable feeling about this place is that everything here has a natural, unprocessed feel about it...despite the fact that it's still fast food with the greasy bacon cheeseburgers, deep-fried potatoes, carbonated water & high-fructose corn syrups and all. There is one very important thing for newbies to understand about Five Guys: there are no photographs on the menu to see what you're getting. They have the burger menu divided by "Burgers" and "Little Burgers." One would think that the term "Little Burger" would mean "Kiddie-Sized Burger" and therefore, not to order it. You would be wrong. When you order the regular "Burger" or the regular "Cheeseburger," you are in fact getting a DOUBLE patty that is quite substantial in size. Most people (adults) would be satisfied and full with a "Little Burger," which is about the same size as a McD's quarter-pounder. Unfortunately, when you go into a Five Guys, they don't really explain this to you and nowhere on the menu does it state the difference between the two sizes of order. So, unless you specifically ask, you're not getting the information. I went to Five Guys with my kids the other day and had forgotten about the size differences. We all ordered the regular size and were shocked to see the giant double-stacked patties when the order was ready. I think at the very least, the dude at the counter should have taken a look at my tiny 11 and 13 year old daughters and said "Are you sure you want the regular and not the little-burgers for them?" But nope. He just took the order and pushed it through. By the menu's absence of a size description and no photos anywhere on it, my guess is that corporate likely encourages this behavior in an effort to raise sales and push more product out than is necessarily desired by the customer. This isn't so cool and leaves the customer feeling slightly tricked, but you soon get over it when you taste how good the burger actually is. Despite this little complaint, the staff is very friendly, highly efficient and the restaurant was impeccably clean both in the dining area and in the kitchen. I witnessed the kitchen crew completely scrub and clean the grill and surface areas of the kitchen 3 separate times while I was seated in the dining room for about 40 minutes. It seems that they are instructed to completely power clean the entire working area after each batch of orders comes through. I'd highly recommend Five Guys, but just be highly aware of the size differences in burger options before you place your order.

Seriously disappointed after all the hype I heard. Call me crazy but if you blindfolded me and put a 5 guys burger and a Wendy's burger in front of me I would not be able to distinguish between the two. Wendy's is way cheaper too. The drink machine is cool and so are the peanuts, other than that probably will not be back.

The burger was juicy and flavorful albeit a bit pricier than I'm used to. I wasn't thrilled with the fries. The free peanuts while you wait or dine in are nice. Might go back, although it's hard to justify when the fries aren't good.... so only if I'm in the mood for a burger without fries. Visited: 12/15/09

I'm wavering between 3.5 and 4 stars so... 4 it is. We've come to the Bloomingdale location before and, as with previous visits, it's very clean, including in the restrooms, and the staff are very friendly. I suppose I shouldn't complain about the amount of food you get for the money - a regular order of fries could feed about 4 by itself - but I need to learn to order the single-patty burger because the two patty burger is too much for me. I can't say if the meat is great quality or not because I'm one of those people who drowns hamburgers in condiments - and yay for all condiments being free (except cheese, though I may be the only person who considers cheese to be a condiment). That said, for the condiment-lovers out there, the buns are a little weak and with all the good stuff on a burger, you'll wind up with, at a bare minimum, a fairly damp bun, or, like my husband, need to finish up with a fork and knife. Overall, though, tasty burgers. And the fries... I do love fresh-cut, skin-on, not-skinny fries and these ones are pretty delicious. I don't love the Cajun seasoning you can get on the fries but the plain ones are some of my favorites. Those of you with peanut allergies may want to rethink your visit as there are peanuts in shells for people to snack on in the store and, based on the amount of peanut oil used in the "decor", it would appear that is what they fry foods in, as well. Overall, somewhere we'll be likely to go back to.

Great burgers. not a fan of the fries, I don't eat fries very often at any place. I think they should have given the sign Five Guys a mention of food or burgers. People drive by & don't know the name yet keep driving. I used to think this place was the office of a Trucking Co, there was a Five Guys trucking outfit near where I grew up. I will be back, now that I know it a place that serves Great Burgers. Love the peanuts.

The food is so darn good, it's like crack, I would go everyday if I could. the burgers rock, any toppings I like. I try not to overload the burger with toppings, too many and it is too messy to eat. The burgers are juicy and delightful. Love the fries, gotta add the vinegar to the fries, just like at the beach without the seagulls! We love the multiple flavor soda machines. Everything was fantastic.

  • Cassandra L.

I love this place because the veggie sandwich (a hamburger bun with any or all of the toppings but no burger) is only like two bucks! It's just a bun with toppings so I don't know why it tastes so great, but it does. I love it. And the fries are delicious! A large could feed like ten people though, so you'll probably want to get a regular and then split that with someone. They don't have a huge menu (just "burgers," "fries," "hot dogs & sandwiches" and drinks) but there are lots of toppings so you can totally customize your order, and the free peanuts while you wait are a nice touch. It's definitely not a healthy place to eat, but if you feel like fast food, it's great!

I was so excited to see a Five Guys Burgers finally opening up close to home. It looks like the franchisee finally got his butt in gear and started opening a few of them in the area. This one did not disappoint. The burger was fresh and juicy. Definitely will come back.

I paid almost $20 for 1 hot dog, 1 hamburger, 1 fry and a drink. This would all be fine if some how the food justified the price like such. But no, that is not the case. The food is average and the price is, well... above average. I do know of a way to get my $20 worth. Next time I will sit there for 5 hours straight eating their free roasted peanuts they provide for their customers. Hope that will even out the tab.

This was on my list to seek the best cheap burger in the chicagoland area and I was excited to find out there was one near my church. So I went and found the place pretty old fashion with simple sayings on their walls about how great their food is. The kitchen is open and I got to order my first burger... 5 dollars for a double burger... but as many condiments as I want. Not knowing how ridiculous the price was for the burger in the first place, they suckered me to think I was ripping them off by getting practically everything on their condiment list! Shows them whose boss when I'll take everything. So I took their grilled onions, jalapenos, green peppers, mustard, ketchup, pickles, A1 sauce on side, hot sauce on side. The double patty burger looked great, meat was tender, greasy but I got to admit the flavor just wasn't there. The taste of the meat was good but the grilled onions tasted plain and the only thing saving it was the condiments especially jalapenos. But for $5 its alright. And of course I got their cajun fries... which was awesome, spiced just right and really hit the spot. They grab a simple paper cup and fill it with fries and as they put it in the bag they take another scoop and place more in your bag! Now were talking. Some of the best fries I had, these stole the whole experience. And it gets better you can get free whole peanuts to eat while you are waiting or take some on the go. Free is always good. I would rank this place as a decent burger joint but I wouldn't mind coming back here from time to time when I crave good fries with a customizable burger.

Food was excellent. Burgers and fries were truly a treat but $10 for a burger and fries and no drink? Are you kidding me? I can pay that at a restaurant and get sit down service. Sure, the place has quirkiness with the peanuts and the blasting music and yes, the food is good, but way overpriced. I can get a same quality meal for cheaper from Portillos. Would I go back? Yes, if I was with a group of people or perhaps a date where we wanted something a little fun and quirky (though she hates peanuts, so probably not).

I have heard good things about Five Guys, so I was excited to see there was one opened on my way home. I decided to stop in one night and try it out. The guy taking the order wasn't the most friendliest person I have met. There was nobody else in line but he seemed like he had something else to do. Regardless, I needed to find out about this place, so I asked questions. If you have not been there, the difference between a burger and a little burger is that a little burger only has one patty. I am glad that I asked. Anyways, on to the important part the review. The burger was awesome!! It was juicy and delicious. I loved the variety of toppings you could get on it. It was great and one patty was more than enough. The fries were equally as awesome! I love fries that have the potato peel on them still. It was a great meal and well worth stopping for. The regular fry is big enough to split with two people...unless you really like fries. There were not a lot of people there, so it didn't take long to get my food. I will definitely stop again.

I tried five guys recently. As far as a fast food burger its pretty good. Slightly behind portilo's dbl. Cheesbgr. ... the peanuts are a diff. Touch ill go back...but I don't go out of my way for them. Portilo's I have gone out of my way...

Jimmy John's for Burgers...good...not great. Am I the only one who visited Five Guys after all of the hoopla and just was not that impressed? Maybe I was just a victim of uber expectations..maybe it was the fact that Chicago Magazine rated them as having the best fries while featuring thier burger on the cover of the Best Burger in Chicago edition... Positives..simple menu..Coke Zero on tap.. Negatives..way too much self promotion on the walls...none of which was from Chicago media. Styro-foam cups for the fries??? Seriously....how about a wax lined paper bag...maybe a bit more eco-friendly. Peanuts? Ok...but that is so Barnaby's circa 1980 and they have the complimentary peanuts sitting on top of the garbage cans...what? The fries were good...but have had much better..see Gene & Jude's, etc. Five Guys is to Wendy's like Jimmy John's is to Subway.

I just have to say, writing this review is making my tummy grumble for some more Five Guys right now. Before I get too pumped up to say anything bad about this place, let me clear up why I did not give it 5 stars. Really, these burgers are just like when you have that neighbor that makes super good burgers on his grill and even though you don't really like him, you will still come to his cook outs to eat his burgers, because they are that good. Nothing gormet or super different about them other then that they are cooked perfectly and are topped with your choice of fresh toppings (all free!). The bacon is crispy and the cheese is melty. Its just a good burger. The biggest (only?) complaint that I have is that its a little pricey for a good burger (but certainly not pricey enough to give me any sort of pause in my decision to come back). They give your a ridiculous amount of fries (so fresh!) and free peanuts while you are waiting! Seating is crowded, but it gives the right atmosphere for the type of place it is. The variety of available (free) fresh toppings makes a huge difference and makes it worth a try! I know I'll be going back.

I agree with many of the comments already made here. It's good, but a bit pricey. Bacon cheeseburger, large fries and large drink were $14 and change. The large fries are served in a cup about the size of a medium soft drink. They throw in another large scoop of fries in the bag on top of that. Will get the smaller size next time. Cajun fries were excellent--just the right bit of zing and the seasoning wasn't overly salty. You could tell they were fresh-cut. The burger was very good. It reminded me of an In 'N Out burger with better toppings. Not the best I've ever had, but I will definitely make this a regular stop. Service was quick and friendly and the restaurant was very clean. The kitchen area is fully visible from the dining area and I appreciate that you can clearly see what measures they take to keep things tidy. I don't get the Wendy's references--the food is here considerably better, though more expensive with a much smaller selection. Comparisons to Jimmy John's aren't wholly inaccurate, but it seems like that's to describe the general experience, which isn't a bad thing to me. I put it somewhere above Steak 'N Shake and below Portillo's. Not too shabby.

Happened to be driving by and have never heard of this place before, but heck, I will try anything once. They have a simple menu, fries, burgers and hot dogs. The prices seem a bit steep but they have signs everywhere claiming how good the food is....anyhow, it took about 15 minutes to get 2 burgers and an order of fries. The fries for the large size to me, weren't worth $4.99, served in a 22-ounce sized styrofoam cup. The burgers appeared standard-sized but were very good and tasty. I love fresh-cut fries but didn't like the price of them. next time I will try the CAJUN fries. Yummy. The place was packed. I didn't like the employees attitudes, when I had questions about the burgers, like the hamburger has 2 patties ( essentially a double burger) and the "little" hamburger has one patty. Like I knew that! Geeeez, this WAS my first time here! Crappy service tt me, but I will give it antoher whirl next time I am in the area and see how it goes. The food warrants another try at least.

My friends introduced us to Five Guys by our house and we were hooked at first bite! Now, I'm not really a Burger Gal - I usually don't order burgers if there are other options, but I must say I really like Five Guys! Various times we've been there, they are always nice and friendly. Great customer service; they look like they are happy to be working there. I always order Little Cheeseburger and regular Cajun fries. Gotta keep my figure, right? ;-) Anyway, as luck would have it, we got a free drink two times I was there: first one because I had a penny for the guy in front of me so that the cashier guy wouldn't have to give 99 cents in change and the second time was because... err, I actually don't really know. He happened to just casually handed my husband a cup for the drinks. WILD. And so we said thank you very much and went on to get our Gold Peak Tea. Five Guys will satisfy my cravings until my next trip to California for some In 'n Out.

For years I have been cursing In N Out Burger for only being in California, Nevada and Arizona. Whenever we travel to the West Coast, In N Out Burger is our first stop. The burgers there are the best I've ever had in my life. So yesterday, we are talking to our neighbors and In N Out gets brought up. They tell us we have to try Five Guys because their burgers are so good. So, we head to the Five Guys in Bloomingdale. I ordered the Bacon Cheeseburger and a regular order of fries. Let me tell you.....damn was that burger good. It was just as good as an In N Out Double Double. The fries were outstanding as well. You could get a large order and feed four people. I got a regular order because everyone else got Cajun Fries and I couldn't finish a regular order. Back to the burger.... What an awesome burger. In N Out fans..you have to try this place..it's just as good...dare I say it..if not better...It is a little pricy..$ 23.00 for 2 burgers, 2 fries and 2 drinks... but it's really good.

never been to any five guys before and when this one opened next to my house, i was soooooo excited. but geez what a bummer!!!! this place sucked! i'm gonna have to go and try one of the original places in the east coast i truly think that five guys shouldn't be as bad as this location is. i think there is a reason to it getting such publicity and great reviews. i'll just have to find the right five guys. i will give it a try but will have to be without my husband as he was really pissed after having eatin such a bad burger.
