I think I just had the best sandwich I've ever had! I decided on a whim to pull over to this small but comfortable place. Great service and friendly locals!

Best breakfast in ALL of the Teton Valley. Hands down! Hard to decide what to choose but whatever you do, order the cheese hash browns. Super crispy.

Scratch has a lot of potential, but falls very short when it comes to the service. The place is small and has a great view of the backside of the Tetons. We stopped in on a fairly busy morning, were seated immediately on the patio, ordered some coffee and then the waiting started. It took a solid 10-15 minutes to get coffee, and then we waited for a waitress to come by and take our order. The owner (I suppose) told us she would be right by. That took another 10-15 minutes. My question is: why couldn't the owner grab a pen and paper and take our order and drop it off at the chef? It would have taken 30 seconds. My girlfriend and I both order the eggs, bacon (they were out of sausage), and hash browns. The eggs were some of the best I have ever eaten. The hash browns were good, crispy, but could have used a bit more salt. The bacon, although local, was not very good. It didn't taste fresh. Then we waited for the check and that was more waiting. Then I went inside, realized how small the restaurant was, and got very annoyed. Even with one waitress and one guy delivering drinks, it is baffling how slow the service was. All in all, we were there for just over an hour, just for some eggs and bacon. In the end, the service was polite, but slow and needs work. The food was good, and the view was great. Go and enjoy, but be prepared to wait.

Sunday morning breakfast. Open kitchen and I'm still grossed out by what I watched the entire 85 minutes it took to finally get some coffee, finally order, finally get our food, and then stand at the register to WAIT for our ticket. Owner is a micro manager so she was waiting on tables as she had time, writing tkts, printing up tkts, telling staff what to do, handling money/credit cards, and all the while handling food. Never did I see her wash her hands or use hand sanitizer. Handling all the breads and toasting/buttering them was enough for me but she did all the garnishing. The sour cream, fruit slices, and grated cheese never went to refrigeration. When she scratched her head and then stuck her money/credit card/pens hand into the fresh spinach I had to add my review to Yelp. I delayed posting until this evening to see if in a less grossed out state I would change the review. Nope. I've been thinking all day about all the germs she spreads all over her cafe. Yeah, she needs a back kitchen! lol And it peeves me when I only get one slice of bread with my eggs and ONLY strawberry jam. The jam was in an open container and I couldn't even touch it.

Stopped in for breakfast. When I saw the pancakes come by, I regretted my order of the egg, bacon, cheddar and hash brown sandwich, until it came. This place is the best breakfast in the Teton valley. Not a lot of room inside for large groups, but don't miss it!!

Have been wanting to try this place and so glad we finally did! Excellent -- all fresh and wonderfully prepared. my husband had the burger (cooked perfectly, great handcut fries) and I had pierogi with wonderful sautéed vegetables. Will return!

Scratch this place off of your to do list, I have never felt more unwelcome in a restaurant. It took 45 min before they even cleared our table from the previous customers and brought us waters. At this time the waitress also informed us that they were out of chorizo, which eliminated about a third of the menu. I honestly can't believe this place is still open.

I have attempted to eat here six times now. Successfully eaten only one time. That one time, the (breakfast) food was OK. It took a while to get it, and all of us at the table agreed that it was pretty bland. The other times: 2x Randomly closed even though it says it's open. 1x I was asked to leave (unknown reason, walked in and told they just closed, even though the sign was up and they were serving other people and it was mid day). 2x actually seated, then never served (not even water), for over 10 minutes and I left. The time I actually made it to the seating, I watched them in the kitchen. The whole area is open so you can see right in. It wasn't dirty, but not clean. All three people were interchangeably handling foods without gloves, this included the server who was also handling money. I'm a fan of local business, but this place needs some serious help. If it matters, I have been told by others that IF you can get food service, it can be quite good.

SERVICE SUCKS!!! The lady serving us has zero personality and is very slow. The front desk lady where we're staying raved about the food and it was good enough but the service overshadows the experience. Very, very limited menu with no substitutions. Absolutely no lunch before noon. That sucked for me who didn't want breakfast. I will definitely let the front desk lady know not to recommend this place to other guests.

A friend raved about the breakfasts here so we were excited to try it out. We grabbed some seats on their deck and a very harried looking server told us that they were understaffed and things would be slow. We appreciated the heads up, we weren't in a hurry so decided to stick things out knowing service would be slow. So the two stars is for the food. I ordered an omelet and asked for 2 eggs instead of the 3 it came with. Apparently the order got written down incorrectly as my friend ended up with the 2 egg omelet and at 6 feet tall he needs more food than me. The omelet was blah and my husband's grand teton breakfast wasn't any better. The only one in our group that seemed stoked with their breakfast was our friend who ordered the breakfast burrito. The thing was massive. I love supporting small, local places but just wasn't wowed by their food.

This has nothing to do with tastiness of the food. A group of 7 of us attempted to get breakfast here the other Saturday morning and where told they wouldn't serve a party as big as our (7, really??). We told them we wouldn't mind splitting up into 2 groups but were again told they wouldn't serve us and we'd have better luck at Sundog Cafe (which we did). Not sure if they were too busy to serve us but I was definitely turned off from ever frequenting here again, they weren't even that nice about it. A shame to because I've heard how great the food is here. Guess they don't feel the hit of the economy, turning away 100+ dollars and a generous tip is not smart.

Scratch this place off your list of places to go. It has a great draw to get you in with items made from scratch but that's where the fun stops. We walked in (4top) and were told to wait even though there were multiple tables open both inside and outside. We sat for at least 15min without waters or any question from the waitress on what we would like to drink. When finally handed the menus we were told they were out of half the menu items by 1030am on a Saturday. The coffee was light brown and horrible. The attitude of the waitress was equal to someone who had their cheerios pissed in. After an hour of sitting there and watching only one table in the entire resturaunt get served we decided to pay for our crap coffee and leave. I should've read some reviews before going to this abomninaton of a resturaunt. The reviews tell it all and hopefully this one will help save you an extra hour of your life waiting to order an omelette.

The food definitely is from Scratch...and it's delicious! It says right on the menu that they aren't the best choice if you're in a hurry. There are only two to three people working there and everything is made to order...seems like deductive reasoning would tell you that if it's packed you will wait awhile for your food. It's well worth it though! Never had a bad meal here...always delicious!

Very disappointed with the reception. We showed with a group of 7, sign on wall says they only serve 6. So we offered to spilt up our group. They total refused to even talk with us and we're very rude and dismissed us by saying we are only 2 people we will not serve you, even if you break up your group. What????? A restaurant that turns away business, really??? Don't bother going there if you are more than 1!

we had late lunch in the off season. field green salad was tasty but pricey for the quantity. other than that prices were reasonable. catfish po boy was delicious. purple cabbage slaw with pickles and cornmeal fried catfish. probably best meal at our table. greek gyro was ok but nothing to write home about. definitely going back to taste other sandwiches.

Mixed review here. Been here twice for breakfast and love their French toast. I assume the waitress is the owner and her husband is the chef. The first time I was told to take the coffee I had just bought down the street back to the car as I couldn't bring it in to the restaurant. I was going to just leave but I had heard such good things about the food. The second time I met some friends here and I was told they only made caffeinated coffee when I asked for decaf. I only drink decaf so I'm wondering why I couldn't bring in the one the time before....hmmmm? It's a silly gripe on my part but it just seems like "attitude" could need adjustment. Meanwhile, the breakfast menu is well rounded and haven't had anything but positives on the food side.

Not biker friendly or large group friendly. Very disappointing . We came in on august 10 at 10:30 am - party of 7 and we're refused service - too large of a group and they were too busy. They can't handle large parties. They do have tables that seat 6. And the place was empty! We watched a large party leave right before we arrived so they do sometimes serve large groups - just not us. Maybe it was because we rode in on our Harley's and biker gear as opposed to the other large group who looked like rafters or hikers. Even when I'm in my car or on my own I won't be back!

Plz look for open sign next to road. Dont bother calling n ask for time or day. They will open , when they feel like it and not h**h. YES. FOOD MADE FROM SCRATCH and good. But not outstanding good good. I was In scratch more than 20 times within 4 years . I have to wish my luck to drive there for restaurant to open because my wife like their good food. For me , not only food but also I look for service and price and ambiance. Food is really good. When u looking for good food in population 1900 town. Service = i always wish that they in happy mode. Ambiance = casual, open kitchen , u can see the way they cooking and can learn. Best time to eat at this restaurant is week day afternoon n evening before 5pm. But I am not guarantee that they open every day . Doesn't matter summer or winter. Another alternative is spoon or drive another 10 miles to driggs ( forage , bangkok kitchen). They do have patio dining in summer with nice view. Again. They might let you sit or not is depends on them. Good luck & god bless.
