Two words: fish tacos. The BBQ is respectable (although as a KC native I'm admittedly a BBQ snob), and the sides are good, but on my last visit I ordered the fish tacos on a whim and was blown away. Great flavor, generous portions, and the slaw added the freshness and crispness. The service here has been a little suspect on my visits (have to ask multiple times for drink refills/high-chairs/server seems annoyed by special requests/that sort of thing), but the food is served quickly and accurately.

Awesome bbq and incredibly delicious mac and cheese

I ordered the brisket sandwich and my husband ordered the prime rib sandwich. We were not disappointed. Brisket was really good - tender, flavorful. I'd let you know about the prime rib, but I did not get any! The mac and cheese was good, as was the coleslaw. Beans weren't my favorite - they had good flavor, but I prefer a sweeter baked bean. The restaurant is small, and we lucked out with two open seats at the bar. The service was fast and friendly. Overall I definitely recommend Big Hole.

I've had BBQ from St. Louis, the Carolinas, Texas, & Kansas City and this little place in Victor, Idaho holds its own against them all. The brisket and pulled pork sandwiches were delicious & the cole slaw was right proper. If you find yourself nearby & hankering for some good Q you're a fool if you don't pop in for a sandwich & a cold beer on the upper deck.

It doesn't look impressive but this small restaurant has some excellent BBQ. There was no chicken so i chose the beef brisket sandwich. The beef, piled high on a bun, was thickly sliced and tender with a slight smoked flavor. A good, peppery, coleslaw accompanied the sandwich. The beef was precooked so I got the sandwich in just a few minutes. Victor is an interesting town; it and Driggs a few miles north are in ranch country but there are many "gentlemen's estates" in the area showing it is a favorite area for an extra home or retirement home for the wealthy.

I must admit that I prefer not to eat meat, but before you discount my review, please note that I gave 5 stars and keep on reading! My husband and I went there after a busy day of unpacking and the place sure hit the spot. J had the special pulled pork sandwich and I know we'll be coming back, if it's just for that... I had the shrimp tacos and gave the shrimp to my husband, which left me with, that's right - slaw tacos. And let me tell you about this slaw - creamy, hint of apples and celery, house made, amazing. I was very satisfied! Their BBQ sauce is amazing... It was a very comforting place to chill and kick back. Unfortunately I did not notice they had any beers on tap, but the bottle selection included my favorite Hawaiian Long Board.

Truly excellent Brisket. Probably the best I have ever had. I would drive from Salt Lake just to have the brisket. Excellent job!!!

For fans of Texas-style BBQ, this is the real deal. It's all about the smoke. Not too much, just enough. When you get that right, you don't need much else to win me over. I would eat there once a week if I didn't have to drive 5 hours.

got a "to-go" order for a large group, and the food was amazing! Everyone had full bellies and clean plates. The price was also very reasonable. Highly recommend!

Big Hole BBQ is excellent! The food is well deserving five stars, prices are reasonable, and the beverage selection is decent (better than highly regarded Pat's BBQ here in SLC). And while yes, it doesn't have great views the upstairs open air deck and bar area is a more than pleasant place in summer. Will definitely return when next visiting the area.

Hands down, best prime rib sandwich ever! Comes with horseradish sauce and Au ju. My boyfriend ordered it and I basically made him trade. I ordered the Philly tacos which were awesome but I love horseradish. Service was good, everyone was really nice and helpful. Another must-go while in the Teton Valley!

a mixed review that still gets four stars because of the sandwich. recently drove through victor, had seen some good reviews of this place, so we stopped in. the wife and kid got sliders, which were good. i was the winner, though, because i listened to the waitress who told me to get the prime rib sandwich. sliced thinly, grilled onions, a truckload of cheese on a bun, served with au jus. it was delicious. i had to give my family some bites of it so they wouldn't feel entirely left out. the sides were ordinary, though. chips in a bag. my beans had way too many onions and were not hot, barely warm. the beer was too expensive, and the prices of the beer were not posted on the menu. i got a apa from teton brewing (the one in town) for 4.50 a bottle. my wife got a can of beer for a similar price. but the food was good, the people were nice. note--if you ask a waitress what to get and she suggests something, you might want to order it. that sandwich would have not been on my radar, but it was in my belly real quick.

A friend who has family in the area highly recommended this place - although with the caveat that they'd only had dinner here and wasn't sure if the same food was offered at lunch. Unfortunately the bbq'ed meat isn't offered until dinner - drat! But they did have some bbq'ed sandwiches at lunch so we went for the brisket sandwich with macaroni n' cheese ($9.50). Nice! Very nice! The brisket was very tender and tasty. The macaroni n' cheese was really good. Nice bread crumb topping. Very smooth cheese sauce (I hate it when it's slightly gritty still). Highly recommend the mac n' cheese over the coleslaw or chips. 4 stars for the bbq'ed sandwich. We also ended up ordering 2 mini tacos ($2 each) which were supposed to be one pork and one chicken. But I think we ended up getting two chicken tacos because I couldn't tell the difference between the two. The meat tasted exactly the same. It was tender but bland. I guess you can't expect much with chicken breast. The tacos were filled with coleslaw which wasn't that interesting. Skip the mini tacos next time. They're not nearly as good as what you would get from a taco truck in the city. 2 stars for the mini tacos.

Best BBQ I have ever had! Everything was amazing - ribs, pulled pork, brisket and sides. We tried mac and cheese, baked beans and coleslaw. Portions are very generous and my gf and I both wished we had larger capacity stomachs :-) the food we ordered - half rack of ribs and a combo plate - was enough for a dinner and a filling lunch next day. I am considering moving to Victor now :-)

OMG!!!!! AMAZING BBQ!!! We are lucky to frequent Kansas City monthly and this place beats all of my favorite BBQ joints in KC and Austin out of the WATER!!!! The pulled pork and brisket melted in my mouth. Absolutely amazing meal, if you are in this area, you MUST STOP here! Huge portions as well, which allowed me to take with and enjoy on our road trip back home the next day! I LOVE this place and will be back for sure!!!!! Thank you for an amazing meal during a week long road trip!!!!

Really excellent BBQ. Some of the best we have ever had. Only disappointment was you couldnt get the sample platter until after 5. I wanted to try more than one meat. But the brisket was amazing. And the mac and cheese is heaven. We will be back.

So you've had those meals where it's so good you eat until your tummy hurts, then eat some more? This is one of those places. OmG, this is very nearly the best BBQ I've ever had. I ordered the prime rib sandwich, and my wife had the ribs, both of which were friggin amazing. If you're in the area, go here!

About the only thing you will miss at Big Hole BBQ is a great view. I was treated to possibly the best BBQ ribs I have every had. Big Hole is not a big place and you might have to wait an extra minute or two for your food and drink, but trust me, the wait is well worth it. This is a classic BBQ joint with a menu selection to match and the staff (of 1) is as friendly as can be.The beer is bottled and the selection is more than adequate. Come hungry!

My go to place in town now. All the food has been excellent. BBQ the way BBQ should be done, simple, and good. Has 3 TV's for sports. Inside is pretty compact, deck on top is great in the summer. I say cheap, as you can get a meal for less than $10, but you can also go much higher if you are ordering a platter or a full dinner.

Big Hole BBQ is the great. I worked on a competition BBQ team and I know a thing or two about how BBQ should be. The mac and cheese with brisket is the most delicious thing that I have ever had the pleasure to shovel into my mouth at high velocity. (only one little critique, sometimes they leave the fat on the brisket and its a hassle to pick it all out) My girlfriend loves their chicken sandwich thing (not sure what its called but its basically a sub roll with cubed chicken and a ton of cheese melted over it). Their BBQ sauce is delicious as well. As with any BBQ, be careful sometimes little bits of bone have been left (don't let this deter you, its difficult to get all of them). If you are looking for a good meal and enjoy BBQ, this is the place for you.

Two words: FOOD POISONING. My girlfriend and I stopped here after a day of fishing. Having had nothing else to eat all day, we were famished and the food tasted good. We then spent the rest of the evening and following day violently expelling that food. Ruined the last few days of our vacation... It tasted fine but if they can't make it in a sanitary and professional manner, the illness isn't worth it; plenty of other options in the area.

I would drive out here from Jackson on the reg just to have their food. I am not a big BBQ eater and I have only loved one other BBQ joint which is located in Seattle. I had the Prime Rib Sammy and my husband had the Brisket. The Mac n Cheese and Slaw sides are amazing. I think anything you order will be great!

My very fussy husband thinks this is one of the best BBQ pork ribs ever. They start smoking them early in the morning so don't go before 6:00 pm as they won't be available. There is a really friendly staff. I like the mixed tacos...mahi & shrimp. Once had the brisket which wasn't fond of but been back twice and loved everything else.

Simple down hole bbq served by laughing and smiling people . . . all sides and dishes home made, bbq made out back. A very Diners, Drive Ins and Dives type experience. Drove out from Idaho Falls and will do it again soon!!

Last time we were out in Victor we drove past this place several times and it looked like a restaurant, but had no sign. Luckily we decided to stop in as it turned out to be the soft opening for Big Hole BBQ. We didn't end up trying BBQ that night, we had the Mahi Mahi tacos and some mini chicken tacos, both of which were excellent. Big Hole didn't have their liquor license yet but they were working on it and said they should have it in a few weeks. The service was great and the food was awesome, I read an article that they are going to keep the menu pretty simple but change for each season, and that they plan on serving BBQ at the Thursday music in the park series for the summer so you can give them a try there too.

Husband is from Texas -- says the brisket is "pretty good" which is saying a lot for brisket outside of Texas haha. I had the fish tacos which were flavorful and a little spicy! Really good! The highlight was the Mac & Cheese -- creamy and favorful with some sort of spice and a crunchy topping! GONNA BE BACK FOR THAT! Friendly and quick service. Awesome 90s jams playing the whole time -- seriously all my favorites from that glorious decade.
