This place really surprised and delighted me. We were visiting friends in Stanley, where my parents used to work for river running companies, and a friend suggested we go to The Redd. I got the catfish sandwich and split pea slaw. I was in heaven. The slaw was perfectly balanced in flavor and immensely fresh. The catfish: just as much. Also, the service was great! The waitress chatted with us and it didn't feel forced, just good old fashioned hospitality. Even if I was a little tipsy coming from the bar across the street. Which I may or may not have been. Another thing worthy of mention: they make and sell REAL MARSHMALLOWS, like, marshmallows made with ACTUAL marshmallow root. I regret not trying any. I really should have. The decor is eclectic and sweet (none of the glasses or plates match and napkins are classic cowboy paisley handkerchiefs), and the outdoor seating looked amazing as well. You can tell the people who work there really love it. It's got a great atmosphere.
Excellent food and very friendly service. Did not expect such a sweet surprise in tiny Stanley, ID.
This cute little place in Stanley ID is worth a check out if you are in the area. The menu changes regularly and is written on a chalk board. The staff was super friendly and make the meal even that more enjoyable.

The "K Club" is a must stop at in Stanley. Whether you're wanting a good meal, live music or the best bar in town they have it. John and Shawna work so hard for everyone to enjoy their place it's awesome. Not to mention their staff is the same year after year. If you're looking for a good time be sure to go to the k club.
Really delicious prime rib dinner, I am not sure if this is normally on the menu. It was the 4th of July and nothing says "Happy Birthday America" quite like 10oz of prime rib. It was prepared perfectly and neither the included jus and horseradish were overwhelming the pure flavor of the juicy cut of meat. The selection here was very good, but it was a let-down that the salmon was not locally or at least near-locally sourced. Overall the ambiance was very laid back and has a western flair but the prices are somewhat high.
Stopped in for some burgers and wings after a long hike. The wings were fatty and not really that good. The burgers were good and tasty but nothing spectacular . Wouldn't go out of my way to eat here but it was ok.

I'm stoked to be first reviewer. Great selection for such a small town and low Idaho-style prices. I was here 30 minutes after closing, by accident, and the owner actually was so nice and apologetic that it was time to leave. I'd give this place 5 stars except I wanted to see a better selection of pocket knives, but that is obviously a personal quirk.

This place is great! On our way back to boise from camping here over the weekend, we stopped in to grab some lunch. I ordered the cheesesteak sandwich and thought I died and gone to heaven! That garlic mayo sauce is awesome!! And quality meat too! If you are camping around Stanley, stop here at least once!
Super friendly staff, great pizza and a good amount for your money. We sat outside and the view can't be beat around sunset. Also, pizza came quick!
Papa Brunee's is our "go to" when we are in the mood for a pizza or a GREAT sandwich. They are affordable and very clean. The staff is awesome, friendly and energetic.

We had the best breakfast here served by the nicest staff. The food was tasty and plentiful, the service very agreeable and polite, the wifi works well which is no small detail where there is no cel signal, and the bathrooms were sparkling clean. The hotel room was good, well stocked with coffee and towels. The hot spring tub in the back was sensational, specially once the view is opened up on the snowy mountains. A simple place with excellent assets.
New ownership has just taken over and the staff's attitude is great. Still working out the kinks but we had a great stay with our dogs. This place is a clean standard motel style with walking access to all services and the hot springs. Sitting in the hot springs watching an early morning sunrise is unbelievably relaxing. It is a "Stanley" style motel so if you are expecting a Sun Valley resort drive down to Sun Valley. This motel serves its purpose for all those looking to have a resting spot from which to launch into their daily adventures in the various wilderness mountain ranges around Stanley. Will be back in a few weeks for some more R and R.
I am giving this review such a poor overall rating because the rooms at MVR are in pretty bad condition. The only reason we stayed here was because the better lodging options were full during the February Winterfest weekend. (If you have not been to Winterfest, you need to! Third weekend in February. So much fun!) THE GOOD: THE HOT SPRINGS. If you stay, you MUST make reservations at their hot springs. (Reservations are required - you must have a key to open the door.) The springs are located on the river down behind the establishment. It is about a 5 minute walk from the office. The spring pool is in a little barn/shed building. You unlock the building and are met with a very dark, dank looking cement floored room with three small dressing areas. Don't be fooled.... open the large barn doors and take an hour soak in a natural sand/rock bottom hot springs with a beautiful view of the Sawtooths. THE BAR. The MVR bar was great! Our bartender, Trey, was FABULOUS! Friendly, fun, and great drink prices. Since we were there during Winterfest, one of the nights was the Glow Beach Party and the next night was live music. Both nights were packed. Lots of dancing and so much fun. THE BAD: THE RESTAURANT. We ate breakfast at the MVR restaurant one morning. They were completely unprepared for the crowds of people that were there over the weekend. We waited over an hour for two breakfast sandwiches to go, which ended up not having what we ordered on them and very, very tasteless. Maybe, on a non-busy day, this restaurant would be worth eating at. THE UGLY: THE ROOMS. The rooms are beyond dated, the bedding covers were filthy dirty, we had random hairs in our sheets, the carpet was soiled and stained, and the beds were miserably uncomfortable. The shower curtain did such a poor job of keeping the water in the shower enclosure, by the time your shower was done, the bathroom floor easily had ¼" of standing water. Also, no shampoo or conditioner, so bring your own. The outlets would not hold anything you put in them... phone chargers, hair dryers, etc... the plugs would simply fall out. As I mentioned before, the only thing keeping this review at two stars and not just one is the bar and the hot springs. There are rumors of a remodel for the rooms... I sure hope that happens soon. This could be a really beautiful resort, but the rooms needs some serious TLC.
