We had the best breakfast here served by the nicest staff. The food was tasty and plentiful, the service very agreeable and polite, the wifi works well which is no small detail where there is no cel signal, and the bathrooms were sparkling clean. The hotel room was good, well stocked with coffee and towels. The hot spring tub in the back was sensational, specially once the view is opened up on the snowy mountains. A simple place with excellent assets.

New ownership has just taken over and the staff's attitude is great. Still working out the kinks but we had a great stay with our dogs. This place is a clean standard motel style with walking access to all services and the hot springs. Sitting in the hot springs watching an early morning sunrise is unbelievably relaxing. It is a "Stanley" style motel so if you are expecting a Sun Valley resort drive down to Sun Valley. This motel serves its purpose for all those looking to have a resting spot from which to launch into their daily adventures in the various wilderness mountain ranges around Stanley. Will be back in a few weeks for some more R and R.

I am giving this review such a poor overall rating because the rooms at MVR are in pretty bad condition. The only reason we stayed here was because the better lodging options were full during the February Winterfest weekend. (If you have not been to Winterfest, you need to! Third weekend in February. So much fun!) THE GOOD: THE HOT SPRINGS. If you stay, you MUST make reservations at their hot springs. (Reservations are required - you must have a key to open the door.) The springs are located on the river down behind the establishment. It is about a 5 minute walk from the office. The spring pool is in a little barn/shed building. You unlock the building and are met with a very dark, dank looking cement floored room with three small dressing areas. Don't be fooled.... open the large barn doors and take an hour soak in a natural sand/rock bottom hot springs with a beautiful view of the Sawtooths. THE BAR. The MVR bar was great! Our bartender, Trey, was FABULOUS! Friendly, fun, and great drink prices. Since we were there during Winterfest, one of the nights was the Glow Beach Party and the next night was live music. Both nights were packed. Lots of dancing and so much fun. THE BAD: THE RESTAURANT. We ate breakfast at the MVR restaurant one morning. They were completely unprepared for the crowds of people that were there over the weekend. We waited over an hour for two breakfast sandwiches to go, which ended up not having what we ordered on them and very, very tasteless. Maybe, on a non-busy day, this restaurant would be worth eating at. THE UGLY: THE ROOMS. The rooms are beyond dated, the bedding covers were filthy dirty, we had random hairs in our sheets, the carpet was soiled and stained, and the beds were miserably uncomfortable. The shower curtain did such a poor job of keeping the water in the shower enclosure, by the time your shower was done, the bathroom floor easily had ¼" of standing water. Also, no shampoo or conditioner, so bring your own. The outlets would not hold anything you put in them... phone chargers, hair dryers, etc... the plugs would simply fall out. As I mentioned before, the only thing keeping this review at two stars and not just one is the bar and the hot springs. There are rumors of a remodel for the rooms... I sure hope that happens soon. This could be a really beautiful resort, but the rooms needs some serious TLC.

We stopped in for beer and food. You can go into the restaurant and order food, then take it next door into the bar for a cold one with your meal. Food was ok. Nothing to write home about. Huge portions of fries and tater tots. And we were hungry! Nothing exciting to say about the bar either. Beer was cold, that's a beautiful thing. Doubt we'd stop here again if we are in town. And we do plan on being there again next year.

Simple Place in the middle of a very small seasonal resort area. So Look - Terrific HOT good fries, a nice burger and soda. Friendly staff and attentive. Looks good to me 4 stars to give a boost to the location handicap

Didn't eat the food, which I wouldn't expect to be epic, given the serious distance anything grown outside of Stanley would have to travel, so I'm gonna go ahead and give a strong recommendation for the hotel itself. Biggest reason this place is awesome is for sure the free access to the natural hot springs behind the hotel. The tubs are secluded, with doors that open up to an incredible view of the Sawtooth mountains. When it gets too hot, you can jump into the freezing glacial runoff fifteen feet away. The staff was extremely helpful in recommending hiking around the area. Also, a major bonus is that you can check in after 10 PM... so if you've come up and down the mountains in complete, terrifying darkness after leaving Ketchum at 8:30 PM, you won't have to sleep in your car once you arrive to safety. Word to the wise--just don't drive to Stanley at night. Stay here though fo sho!

Food wasn't perfect but still pretty good and they are the only place open year round. Prices are reasonable considering where they are located.

if you are over 50 and enjoy eating at the sizzler then this is the place for you - i'd try bridge street burgers, papa brunees or the redfish lodge over this place. trust me, nothing special here and pricet nonetheless for overdressed salad and cheap meat.
