I've been there twice now. Each time for a comedy show. The first time it was for my girlfriends birthday party. The service was great, the comedy (the 1st time) was GREAT. I cannot say the same for the food. My girlfriend and her husband ordered the prime rib. It was a very small serving and they both commented how little food they received. I ordered a cobb style salad and it came with a white creamy type dressing which, after tasting it, I assumed it was some sort of house dressing, almost like a sweet slaw type dessing, very sugary. I asked the waitress if I could have some Blue Cheese dressing and she said 'that is the Blue Cheese dressing'. I made a face like, REALLY? and she smilled back at me knowingly as if to say....'it's bizarre, isn't it?'. I couldn't finish the salad, the dressing was so bad. The second time to the restaurant was tonight (Oct 12) with my husband, sort of a 'date night'. Again the service was great, everybody is very friendly there. The comedian for tonight was not nearly as funny as the 2 comedians who performed the first time. Unfortunately the food experience tonight was not good. My husband ordered sliders with chili and a side Cesar Salad and I ordered a Pesto pizza. Firstly it's so dark in there that you can't 'see' your food well enough to know what color it is or in some cases..what it is exactly, so you need a certain amount of 'faith' to start eating it. My thin crust pizza was so so . The crust was not crispy AT ALL, it was chewy. The toppings were unusual. The prosciutto was tough, there wasn't very much cheese and the sundried tomatoes were too big and tough to chew. The pizza itself wasn't very hot and it took over 30 minutes from the time it was ordered. My husbands food experience was also bad. He ate his sliders but couldn't finish his cesar salad, he said the lettuce was soggy and the dressing tasted funny. He took approx 3 bites then stopped. Nor did he finish his Chili as he said it tasted funny. This is VERY unusual for my husband who eats EVERYTHING and NEVER sends food back, ever. Even if he doesn't really like something he will eat it anyway and finish it. We sat adjacent to a couple, at a table next to us, who ordered wings and some sort of salad to share. I overheard them tell the waitress the wings were good but the salad seemd 'off'' and had it sent back. During the comedy performance, the comedian interacted a lot with the audience. The couple at the table in the front row, right in front of the comedian, sent food back also. The reason I know this, is the comedian made a joke about it by asking the lady, at the table, why she was getting a 2nd dinner delivered to her table, and the lady replied she sent the first dinner back.

I went there this Sunday to watch the Superbowl. Everything was cool except the stupid manager who wear the Clinton Portis jersey. He gave everyone the raffle tickets except me. It was for a while also. Its not like he did not notice me. I just kept quiet and kept noticing him if he will realize. Nope he just running around like a kid passing out raffle tickets except me. Cause I am Asian ? ...such a discrimination. Other than that the waitress is really cool and the food is good. I will still go back but hope they straighten the manager out.

Cool ass bar. (THEY DO NOT DO PIANOS ANY MORE TO SET THE RECORD STRAIGHT, I ALMOST DIDNT COME HERE) I'm from Seattle and I travel a lot and have seen many bars, this bar is a great spot. The environment is laid back yet up beat. I came here on a Thursday where they are playing good music and doing karaoke in between (not over kill of one or the other).

The Varsity is fun for the dueling pianos. Since they remodeled the place and removed the wall between the bar and piano area it is not nearly as unbearably loud as it used to be. The drinks are poured well and service is good. Had a couple appetizers and they were just okay. Really you should just go for the music and entertainment.

7 tap handles...exptected more for this area. Only 3 big tv's for football watching all next to each other. W ould not reccomend for football watching. Chips were stale. Queso had WAY to MUCH garlic. Greek salad was disappointing for $8. The Beef Dip was good other than being cold from sitting around. The bread was completely soaked by the time it arrived. Fries were cold as well. There were only three other people in the bar for lunch... so not sure why the delay. The beers arrived quick every time. Bartender was great.

Been there several times enjoy the more open feeling you get while sitting at the bar vs before when there was a wall. Friendly and very help full staff drinks are good not watered down for a reasonable price. Only real suggestion I have is they need to fix tv's to were there more viewable to a larger amount of people Will return

Horribly loud dueling pianos bar. It started out great, and got louder and louder. Moved to 4 tables hoping to get away from the over-amped keyboards. By the time some yahoo started pounding on a snare drum, I about turned my table over in my haste to get out of there. And in my attempt to pay for my diet coke, you would have thought by the slowness of finding my order, that the server was ringing up a months worth of groceries. I finally shoved $3 bucks at her and told her I hoped it was enough and stormed out. Note to musicians- your musicianship isn't helped by being louder. Too bad, but I won't be back.

Love the Varsity Pub!! I especially love the dueling pianos, the girl is awesome, and well, they are all just great! Prices are decent and the comedians I have seen are hilarious.

Went for the first time tonight for the comedy show and dueling pianos. The entertainment was really fantastic, I have to say. On the other hand, the service was really horrible. The waitress was friendly, but couldn't answer even the simplest question about the menu or the drink options. She never once bussed our table. We got so sick of piling up our dirty dishes that we moved them to an empty table. She only rounded maybe once an hour (without exaggeration), to the point where we ended up going direct to the bar to order drinks. The food was mediocre at best. The nachos were bland, with very little toppings. I would NEVER order them again. The duck potato skins were actually ok, though. Kind of like twice baked potatoes, and pretty filling. The air conditioner was not on and it was sweltering hot in there once the crowd arrived for the show. It was in the 80's outside and this is an upstairs establishment where the heat rises. I would go back for the comedy show and particularly for the fantastically entertaining dueling piano show, but the service, food, and temperature are a definite barrier. I had won this on a radio station, and we ended up winning some money while there, so our tab was ultimately paid for and didn't cost us anything out of pocket. I guess I got my money's worth.
