I have driven by this place for years. After our favorite Chinese buffet that was located on Fairview Avenue closed, we had to look for a new place. This is about as good as it gets in Meridian. The place was very clean, very accommodating and had a HUGE spread for their buffet. There was sushi, much to my wife's delight. There was one part of the buffet dedicated to a Mongolian style grill. A fresh salad bar. And of course two steam tables full of yummy Chinese style food. The prices were moderate, the server was on top of everything, including refilling our drinks and clearing plates. I would recommend this place, and we will definitely be going back soon.

First of all their add says thy have a sushi bar. This is an out and right lie. Serving sushi and having it in the buffet is not that same thing. SECOND they have gotten lazy and no longer provide the same quality the did. They actually serve their customers SHIT. I mean this literally. They no longer clean their shrimp. If you see a shrimp with a black line down the back it has not been cleaned. That black line is its poop shoot and the black is poop, SHIT. And they are knowingly feeding it to you. So next time you go to Great Wall know you will be eating SHIT.

IF YOU WANT WHITE MEAT CHICKEN HERE, YOU CAN ONLY CHOOSE FROM 2 DISHES. Before I decided to write my review, I looked through the others. There is a very mixed bag of reviews. It seems that either people loved this place or hated it. it is very very hard for me to imagine anyone liking it here. Please read on to find out why. I have been here once before back when it 1st opened. I remember it well. My wife and I came in and sat down. Our experience with Chinese places has taught us to always ask if they serve white meat chicken. White meat is not traditional in China. Dark meat is cheaper, and can be more flavorful than white meat unless a cook knows what they are doing. After I wrote my review, the owner, or manager, emailed me and promised that they did indeed have white meat chicken. I trusted him and took down my review. I have meant to return, but just could not bring myself to do it. The outside looks bad. I dont recall what was here before, but it looks like an A & W, or something else like this. They have attempted to turn it into Chinese, but wanted to keep an American feel to it as well. This way, they can also appeal to Americans. They failed on both counts. Today, I decided to return to give them one last chance to redeem themselves. We asked the server if they had white meat chicken. She said yes, but then after I ordered, this changed. She said that there was only 2 dishes that came with white meat chicken. I wanted the Generals, but this was not one of them. I told her that the manager promised they had white meat chicken. She went to ask and came back and said no. I read through the menu and found an item that said right in the menu that it was chicken breast. It was not one of the 2 that she said was white meat chicken. I thought to myself, doesn't Chicken Breast = white meat chicken? I pointed it out to the waitress. She seemed surprised. I dont think she knew her menu at all. In fact, after eating here, my guess is that none of these people know the 1st thing about Chinese cooking. Whoever started this place probably just thought that starting a restaurant sounded like a good easy way to make a buck. I can just see Robert Irvine shaking his heard is disbelief at The Great Wall. This place seems to survive by offering a buffet. So Im guessing they dont get a lot of people that actually order off the menu. When my order came out, it was the oddest looking Chinese dish I have ever seen. What I got was about 20 small pieces of chicken that had tales on them. They looked like Hush Puppies or a really odd version of popcorn chicken. The chicken had a tempura batter, which had been dropped in the fryer wet. This is why they seemed to have tales. The chicken and batter had no flavor. The pile of Chicken was served with a large bowl of some sort of sauce with cut jalapenos floating in them. Something else I have never seen before. Uh, excuse me Mr owner, arent jalapenos Mexican? So we have a Chinese/American/Mexican restaurant. Thats an interesting mix indeed. The sauce...well, I cant describe the flavor because it had very little of it. it was temperature hot. In fact it was very hot (Temperature) like all the other food. But the heat was the only positive thing I can say about any of it. The thing that really floored me was this pile of White meat chicken could be combined with any sauce and veggies to make up any dish. Do you want to hear the reason the waitress gave me that none of the other chicken dishes come as White Meat? Wait for it......... She said its because all the rest of the Chicken dishes are pre-made with dark meat. I was afraid to ask any more questions, but I can only imagine all these items on the menu in plastic bags because they have been made way ahead of time. When you order them, they pour the ingredients from the bag, warm them up in the microwave, or on the flattop and serve them. I ordered hot tea. It had very little flavor to it. My 11 year old, that loves hot tea, commented that it tasted like hot water. My sentiments exactly! It tested the same at the end of the meal, so it had plenty of time to steep. I kept looking at the inside of my chicken, The light was odd, so it was hard to say for sure, but Im pretty sure that the Chicken was undercooked. Not raw, but still pink. One last thing I just have to point out. My wife had Egg Fu Young. When it came out, I thought I had been transported to a breakfast place. The Egg Fu Young here looks like pancakes. The flavor was ok. Due to all the bad things here, I will just give this place an overall rating. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would give it a -3. I would be very surprised in they are in business in another 6 months. Dont waste your time here. Of all restaurants I have reviewed, this is one of the worst. Go to PF Changs, Ling and Lois down the street, or even Panda Express.

Been here once and that was it. Tried it since it was the new place. The wife and I still surprised that they are still around and the parking lot is full. Can't see why. There's nothing special and it's racked with disorganization throughout. Skip it. Cook your own.

We ordered this for delivery and the guy brought the wrong order. After we chased him down and swapped for the right box it went downhill from there. They sent several wrong items and one giant bucket of sauce for both the sweet and sour chicken and the mandarin chicken. The portions were large but we didn't even bother to save the leftovers. They were very helpful when we called to complain and refunded half the purchase to our card. Even at 50% off I don't think it was worth it.

This place blows dead dogs. And probably cooks and serves them. Buffett is terrible, the staff is nice but not very efficient, the food is crap. Was recomnended by a friend because of the low prices, 10$ a head. I want my friggen money back! And a new friend! Just because something is cheap does not make it good to eat. Screw this place, go to Quick Wok and enjoy a decent meal for a comparable price. Fags.

It's a buffet with Mongolian stir fry. I like this place, so many bad reviews I don't see why? What were you expecting from a all you can eat buffet? Food is good and service is really good for a buffet.

We have been eating here for close to 4 years. We are always seated quickly and given our drinks. The containers of food are usually full. The staff is polite. We only eat certain things, and those are things that we like and they taste wonderful. This is one of our favorite places to go for date night. My only complaint surrounds one time that we went and we did not leave a tip. The waitress asked us outright if they had done anything wrong. I felt very awkward explaining that the service had been great and that we rarely leave tips. I felt that she was rude I guess...

This review is solely based on the delivery service. I have ordered food to be delivered on several occasions and I have always found it to be hot, fresh, and delicious. They are so flexible with custom orders and the drivers have all been very courteous.

Worst Chinese I've had in many years, unfortunately. The meat was an impossible combination of both too greasy and too dry and desiccated. Made me sick to my stomach upon leaving and left me disquieted the rest of the night. I had some general Tso's chicken and some crab rangoons from the buffet.

Lunched with Dad here again today. We ate here once before and couldn't figure out why there were so many cars in the parking lot. A coupon got us to try it again. We found that: - the fried shrimp were overly greasy - the egg foo young patties were extremely thin and flavorless - the peel & eat shrimp were small and overcooked When we have all-you-can-eat Chinese on the mind, we'd much rather eat at City Buffet or China Grand.

I just ate at Great Wall, first time as we are newer residents to Boise. Food was fresh, and well prepared. Chicken wings, yes the chicken wings are really good. Not as massive on the selections of other area Chinese fusion type buffets, but each item was good.

Very great friendly service. Good employees, good food, good times. Every time I eat at The Great Wall, I have a good time. I tip well every single time and I enjoy the friendly service. The entry is a bit confusing, but otherwise it's great!

Where are the Chinese in Eagle? One might think with the amount of cars in the parking lot that this place would be good. If you want tater tots they have them. If you want Chinese keep looking. Is this place related to place on Overland. At least in rating!

Hard to give a review on this place. We left after sitting at our table for 15 to 20 minutes with nobody ever coming to take our drink order. It was only when we were half way out the door when they thought we were skipping out on the check. I then told them we don't owe anything because we never got to order anything. Won't go back

I love this restaurant. Most everyone goes there for the buffet that is served all day, in fact, I am pretty sure that is what 90% of the customers get. The buffet is great. It has a wide variety of food, and for dinner they add crab legs and smoked pork and seeds. I think they have the best egg foo young in town. The prices are pretty darn good as well. The bonus with this one is that it is still very new, so the restaurant itself is clean and nice, not like the typical worn out chinese restaurants you will find in the valley. If you like chinese food, and want a good variety, give it a try. Especially if you have kids, as the buffet prices are great for kids.

Excellent Buffet ,I really enjoyed the stir-fry bar. All the food was nice and fresh and there was a great selection. All the food was full of flavor and was good. I loved the variety it wasnt one of those chinese buffets that put the same dishes put with just a different meat.Every thing was different and had its own Flavor .Dessert was also excellent. They only thing that could use improvement would be the dining room staff .Thats why im only giving them a 4 stars or else they would have gotton 5.

This is a new restaurant but somehow they managed to make it feel like a dive. The outside is shiny and clean, but the inside is dim and feels cheap. They have several TVs throughout the restaurant that play advertisements non-stop. The price was ridiculous! We paid around $12 per person for the buffet which didn't even include a drink. The food selection was abysmal. To top it all off, both my wife and I became ill that evening. The staff weren't friendly. There's not a single redeeming quality about this place.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
