Better than your Taco Bells of the world. And a serviceable late-night option if you work late or need something in your stomach to fend off the booze (as I work late and this location is on my way home, I make the occasional trip here if I'm starving). But otherwise if I'm pining for Mexican food, this place is never a destination. The prices are relatively cheap and the portions are good even when you think the price might be a little high ($2.25 for a taco, but you get a pretty good chunk of meat for it). But you have to consider that what you're being given in those portions is cheap as well. The meat here just isn't very good. The asada had been most reliable for me, but late at night it tends to be sitting around around for awhile already cooked. That's when I tend to choose lengua because I know they'll need to cook it on the spot. I can get much better lengua around here, but at least they offer it at this location. I don't know about the Nampa locations, but the one on Fairview stopped serving lengua. Buche is also served here. Kinda odd to me that the Meridian location would be the one to serve up the funkier meats (for that reason plus the relative cleanliness here, I give them an extra star). For a place like this, the salsa bar is pretty good. There's always an abundance of limes, radishes, and those marinated carrots mixed in with jalapenos. Chips cost extra though. I've encountered some landmines along the way. I decided to make a burrito a burrito mojado (wet burrito) one day, but their enchilada sauce tasted cheap like it came straight out of a can. I won't be doing that again. Nor will I be getting a taco salad. The ultra thin fried tortilla shell couldn't hold the ingredients too well, and the whole thing became a soggy mess fairly quickly. Other reviews have complained about getting more potato than egg in their breakfast burrito, and I'd have to agree. I barely saw or tasted any egg in mine. I get the feeling that if I asked for "no potatoes," it would look more like a taquito. And the service isn't that pleasant, but it's a fast food place for Pete's sake. I'm not coming here for good service. I'm a big fan of taco trucks. And I'd have to say with the exception of a couple of those trucks, they're a better bet for quality for cheap Mexican than Los Betos. Or any carnicería like Campos that has their own taquería.

Just checked in Hampton Inn and wanted something to eat real quick. As I walked over, there was a Del Taco with a packed drive thru and Los Betos with a few cars in front. At first glance, I thought they were closed as you can't see inside due to the tinted windows. Ordered a grilled chicken burrito and chips. The burrito definitely wasn't the best. Maybe the grilled peppers and onions were overcooked or something. It just wasn't right. To top it off, the chips were stale. Not sure how the rest of the menu is like but didn't impress me at all. Would consider Del Taco over this place.

I'm a self proclaimed taco shop connoisseur and this place is average. The bacon breakfast burrito lacked everything except potatoes. Hardly any eggs, bacon, or cheese but it had plenty of potatoes. That's all I could taste. So if you're really into potato burritos this will be a 5-star joint for you.

I've been here several time thinking it will get better but it never does I always end up disappointed this last time I ordered 3 carne-asada burritos and order of rolled tacos well did not get carne-asada and the rolled tacos were over cooked. If anyone knows where to get good Mexican food let me because it's not here...

Pretty much what you'd expect from a fast food Mexican joint. But they are much more authentic than your run of the mill taco bell or taco time. That being said you do pay more for the authenticity. I really enjoy the carne asada fries and the Idaho burrito. Their hot sauce is made there on site and is very good. The only complaint I really have is the drive thru service can take a while.

My favorite place for fast, authentic-tasting Mexican food. To me, this location has been the best in Boise. The dining experience in the restaurant leaves a little to be desired, so we always take ours to go. The California burrito is excellent and always tastes fresh, the salsa is spicy, and the prices are fair. I'll keep coming back!

Slowly this place has been declining, just everything about it is no longer a good experience. Short to the point here is my how they earned 2 stars from me... well more like 1.5. A friend wanted Betos for breakfast so I obliged and upon entry I noticed the dirty floor just littered with scraps of food (so far not so good). Service was quick and we recieved our food as in a timely manner, my first bite sadly was Luke warm. It felt like parts of the burrito was hotter then others, flavor was okay as it was the breakfast one. We also ate and recieved a show from a couple who obviously had no problems with pda in the workplace. She was working the drive through and started kissing the guy right in front of everyone. This was only trumped by the same man eating back by the window, dropping food and eating it. I even pictured him taking a bit ole bite in the dining room, I understand people eat but do it away from your customers. My friend and I both talked about it and if he would eat food from the ground then what would he serve US? They have some delicious food here but I would eat with caution. You have been warned

Took a couple friends to Los Betos for breakfast burritos on the way to the lake this morning. We ordered 3 breakfast burritos and the woman taking our order and serving us at the window was VERY rude! She only got the first 2 orders to begin with. I made sure she added the 3rd burrito. However, when we got home EVERY burrito we ordered was WRONG! It's not too hard to mess up... One bacon, one sausage, and one breakfast burrito with NO meat. Very disappointed because we were bragging to our friends how huge and delicious their burritos were.

This place has gone downhill. I ordered the carne Asda torta. Very little meat, unripe tomatoes, bread over toasted This place used to be one of my favorites. What happened?

This is my go to for Mexican fast food and is a great place to grab a quick bite. The burritos are pretty good, decent size and a good price. They have a salsa bar with all kinds of salsa from mild to very hot. The meat is moist and not over cooked. This is not a typical taqueria but more like a authentic version of Taco bell.

We recently moved here from Los Angeles so we know good Mexican food. Los Betos is very good, the dining area is a nice size for a fast food restaurant, and the staff is nice but not overly nice. BUT that's what this place is, a fast food restaurant. Go there for the quick, cheap, and delicious food and you'll be happy! Also, the pictures on their menu board are deceiving... The actual food comes out in much larger sizes! A unique quality indeed.

I just tried this restaurant for the first time. I was surprised at the value and flavor. The food was good. But, while trying to order a male employee was kissing the girl that was taking my order on the neck and whispering in her ear while touching her all over. She messed up my order and he followed her everywhere distracting her. Unacceptable. Will never go back.

Green Chile (Chile verde) burrito was great! Low prices too. My favorite Mexican food joint in meridian. I'll be back

The food is good sometimes, the service is never good, if even satisfactory. Very inconsistent food, if they even get your order right. They are definitely not there to please their customers. And don't dare to order something that's not on the menu, such as a bean , cheese, and RICE burrito. They act like they don't understand you, ah what? Huh? I order, or try to order one at least once a week, and I kid you not, 19 times out of 20, they play ignorant. And half the time they don't add the rice. Seriously degenerate people here. I wish some English fluent people would open a good fast Mexican food place, betos would lose. I had better service from far superior business owners in Southern California, where I grew up. Anyways, you have been warned!

Decent north of the border Mexican fare. Can't go wrong with the usual suspects like Carne Asada burritos and the like. The price is good. keep in the mind it is what it is.

Fabulous! The best chicken burrito since we moved to the state. We have tried the Meridian location a couple of times and yes, I'm a fan. If you have read other entrties, you can tell that I'm a bit of a culinary snob when it comes to my Mexican food and that I am always on the search for decent burritos and enchiladas. To my surprise, Los Betos was great. The chicken burrito was moist and tasty, just like in Southern California. However, carnitas are a bit dry and the chorizo burrito is almost indistinguishable as anything other than a breakfast burrito with a bit of chorizo hidden on some eggs and potato. Overall, I will be back and continue to try items on the menu because I know that they CAN make great food. Some of it is just off the mark. Oh, and their horchata is pretty darn good!

Good taco shop fare...exactly like the taco shops in San Diego, except lots more room to sit inside. Reasonable prices, good selection, good guacamole for the rolled tacos. If I were in San Diego, it would be one of my top 3 taco shops. Here it's #1, since I haven't seen any competition. I recommend it when you want fast-food taco shop fare (rolled tacos, carne asada burritos, chile rellenos).

I got the California burrito and it was huge and delicious for $5 - anywhere else would have been like $8.25. Not sure how this could be anything less than 4 stars. When there are Mexican people making the food AND eating there, you know it's going to be cool. For sure will come back!

I think I got food poisoning. I feel terrible after eating lunch there today.

  • Debbie C.

Really terrible! First, we sat at the drive-thru for a long while before anyone took our order, then we sat at the window forever waiting for the food. We get to the hotel room to find that my cheese enchilada was filled with cold, unmelted cheese, the taco shell was so old and gross it was difficult to bite and chew. After a bite or two, I gave up and threw it away. The refried beans were very bad too. The only part of our dinner that was edible was the rice. It would not recommend this place at all. Go to Del Taco instead.

I tried this place for the first time Monday night- getting the chicken chimichanga. I liked it so much I had to get another one today (Wednesday). For some reason, the chicken inside tastes a bit different today (different cook? It's been sitting out longer?) but still very yummy. I have been looking for something similar to authentic Mexican for some time and hate having to drive to Kuna to get a good chimi-fix. Glad I found this place. If the chicken quality/taste had been the same, I'd have given it 5 stars.

As far as authentic, fast food, mexican goes this place is excellent! The tacos are delicious, light, and inexpensive. The chimichangas are also great. The bfast burrito with carna asada added is amazing and HUGE but won't leave you feeling greasy afterward. It's worth a try!

Always great food at a great price. Fast service and consistent. The free pickled carrots at the salsa bar are amazing. Big portions for a small price and 24 hours. Can't beat it. One of my favorites. Tonight had the super nachos. They were good but nothing compares to their carne asada and breakfast burritos.

Last Friday morning, we decided to get a quick breakfast burrito and share it before I had to be at work. We arrived at Los Betos at around 7:45 at the Eagle location. Ordered our burrito and sat down. Another two people came in and ordered after us and a bunch of car orders went through and got their food. All we did was order 1 burrito and those other orders were for a ton of food and we sat and watched them happily go on their way. We had to wait a full 30 minutes before our burrito came up. The guy that got his burrito ahead of us (he ordered way after) said that we should get our food for free. If I had been working there, that's what I would have done. The food is still great, but I will say that they need to do something about their service.

Los Betos is a great fast food authentic mexican restaurant. Great tacos and breakfast burritos. The service is sometimes hot and miss, but the place is clean and the food is good.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
