I like that this place is right on my way home from work. I can call in an order, and the nice people there have it ready by the time I drive by. So convenient! The only drawback is that the food isn't good. The family has mutinied and made it clear that this is no longer an option for me. Sigh... They're definitely right though. My last order was sweet and sour pork, Mongolian beef, and chicken with pea pods. The staff wisely put the sauce for the sweet and sour pork in a separate container, but the dish still wasn't good. The coating on the pork was very doughy, and the bright pink sauce tasted like it came out of a bottle (which it probably did). I was especially disappointed by the Mongolian beef. At other restaurants, strips of slightly crispy, spicy beef are stir-fried along with green onions. Their version had what looked like canned chow-mein vegetables with rubbery bits of beef mixed in. Tasted nothing like Mongolian beef. The chicken with pea pods had a slightly better mix of vegetables, but the chicken was also rubbery, and the taste was very bland. The steamed rice and the fortune cookies were both pretty good though. :) I gave them a second star because they're nice people and run what appears to be a clean kitchen -- I just wish the food was edible.

Food is all breading. A half inch thick of breading is not good. Look at the photo of the egg roll. And this is on everything we ordered. We had breaded shrimp, and when you twisted it like a rag the oil just poured out. We ate nothing... My wife took it home and gave it to the dogs... The big dog would not eat. That was first. The little dog had gas for next three days... People working there are nice. But do not eat the food. This is by far the worse restaurant we have ever eaten at.

Very nice people, and OK prices, but the food was really not good. I went for lunch, had the orange spicy chicken and fried rice. The chicken came "some assembly required"...I got a box of sliced breaded chicken, and a tub of sauce that had an off flavor. I had about 3 bites, then chucked it...not worth the calories. The rice was OK, but anyone can make fried rice. Sadly, I will not be back.

Joy garden is the best Chinese restaurant in meridian. We take out there at least once a month. Always fresh, always fast, always very friendly.

It wasn't the best food, the chicken was mostly breading, but the fried rice was alright. The main reason my family and I decided to order here is because they deliver, which they delivered our food fairly quickly.

Everything about this place was not good. Food was not fresh, bland and pretty much awful. Don't be confused by references to Siam Thai which used to be around here. This place is not that place.

If you're looking for authentic, cheap takeout, this is the place. The prices are ridiculous and portions are even better. Get the combination plates where you can choose "2 from above one from below" kind of deal and you won't be disappointed. The food was a little overly fried, but it's honestly what you kind of have to expect from a place like this. I recommend the pork fried rice and sweet and sour chicken. The curry chicken noodle dish is very good as well.

This is a solid Chinese restaurant. The dinner room and atmosphere is very much dated and not to pleasing. But I can recommend it for some take out. Kung Pao beef, egg rolls, and some of the chicken is pretty good. Being that this is a family run business and the people are very freindly. So it's close to home and convenient.

I had a great meal and the price was right. Not very many people there when I went so I was worried. No problem, the food was great and the people were awesome!

If they had an awesome hot and sour soup, they would have gotten 5 stars from me. They have great food overall with a great price. Next I order there, I'll upload some photos. If you're looking for great takeout that doesn't disappoint, order there. We did the family combination and had leftovers for a few days!

Joy Garden is our go-to local Chinese take out food restaurant. The food is quality and ready to go fairly quickly, and always warm. The service is friendly and the family that runs this restaurant always greets you with a smiling face. My favorite dish is the Kung Pao Chicken, and the partners is Beef and Broccoli. Always tasty! For the portion size they give you, the price is perfect.

I've never had a bad experience at joy garden. The egg rolls are like nothing I've ever had before. Service is always fantastic and the cuisine always top notch. Why do you take out or dine in one of the best oriental places to eat in town!

I really enjoy this place, when I come here I want a non-fussy, easy going place to sit and eat. Not a high dollar place either. For about ten bucks you can get a great lunch and actually not be hungry half an hour later.

Awful beyond belief! Everything was fried, and so greasy. I put a shrimp on the napkin, and the napkin was soaked in 2.5 seconds. Like I really want to put that in my body. I know Chinese food (when it actually is Chinese food) may not be the healthiest, but this went way beyond that. It was $40.00 of ahem food, that we were to wimpy to not pay, and the dogs ate it and farted for a week. Never will we go back there. The staff could tell we didn't like it, as we didn't touch it, but they were like deer in headlights and did nothing and said nothing. YUCK!!!!! I should have taken the fact that we were the only customers as an omen, well lesson learned.

Nice people, bad food. We just had ours boxed up and took it home to get rid of as we didn't want our server to feel bad. Weird, chewy meat....both the chicken and beef. Maybe boiled? I was sad for the owners!

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
