My husband and I Visit Boise every few months and like to try new places. We have driven by Tepanyaki for years and finally tried it, we just loved it. Wish we would of gone a long time ago!! . This is 5 Star Service and Food... We had the dinner for two with steak, chicken and shrimp... Amazing.. our Chef Nhon was wonderful and entertaining... We will be back in August with a Big Group!!!

This place is always empty! I don't get it they have awesome food and great service the chefs there are so talented the only bad things I can say is the price is just a little bit steep at 16.00 for the steak and chicken but you do also get a lot of food and on the other hand the restaurant is just a little bit dirty it just isn't exactly the place I want to go for my anniversary dinner. But it makes for an awesome dinner and a movie date night!

Wonderful Food. Really! It just that this place is so dirty and smelly, and greasy (not the food). Someone needs to fix the place up. Beyond that. We go there every year for my brother-in-law's birthday and absolutely enjoy the presentation (usually) and the food. How do they get zuccini to taste that good. Honestly?

Ah me.. I am going to sound like a broken record- but the previous reviews of this establishment are spot on. The food IS good. The preparation (show) IS entertaining. To me, the prices are reasonable given the amount and quality of food. What takes Tepanyaki down to two stars is the physical plant. The outdated, grimy feeling atmosphere. The wretched layout of the space, and yes..I have to say it- the vibe given by the waitstaff. We brought in a large party (18) to celebrate a birthday. We called ahead and made reservations (good thing as they would not have been staffed to handle our group otherwise. FYI. they tack on a 15% gratuity for parties larger than 8 persons.. but be wary as the receipts STILL have a line to add in a tip. It's a good thing they don't tack on a 20% tip, because I'd have taken issue with that given the servers, well, one particular server and her poor attitude. This young woman just EXUDED a vibe of "I don't want to be here, you people are a pain in my rear". Her short answers when asked questions, difficulty to be flagged down and lack of pacing when taking orders are just a few examples. At one point I looked away and when I looked back my beverage was gone.. I wasn't ready for a refill, but my glass had been grabbed for one without any inquiry. Now for some GOOD.. first.. the salad dressing.. some kind of blend that features a bit of horseradish! Whatever it is it makes a very simple iceberg salad blend great with just a few croutons added in! The soup.. meh.. weak onion soup with a few sliced mushrooms, lukewarm. The eggrolls.. tiny, but tasty! Now for the main event.. for me.. Filet mignon and scallops. Filet wonderfully, perfectly grilled and seasoned.. the scallops, oh the scallops.. tender, juicy and fresh. Om nom nom Fried rice made before your eyes, the spatuala tricks the the eggs are captivating! The fresh grilled veggies.. broccoli, zucchini, carots, mushrooms and onion.. delicately seasoned and totally tasty! Coke AND Pepsi which is nice, but only beer, wine and sake otherwise. I wound up with a few shrimp (trade deal for a couple of scallops) and it too was well prepared and tasty! So.. if you're willing to put the blinders on in terms of the building and decor, and you can stand feeling like a bit of an invader by the servers- but you want GOOD frehsly prepared Tepanyaki.. then GO.

Food is absolutely awesome. The atmosphere is disgusting. Lady who seated us was very rude and irritated. I'd go again just for how great the awesome food (filet, and salmon and vegetables are). Really reasonable for all u get. Oh and the fried rice is good. I tasted my husbands salmon and loved it. I don't even eat seafood!

I'm a Boise native. This place has been around for years. The food is always way good. The atmosphere is rather disgusting. If they spent a little money on remodeling, it would be an awesome place. If u can ignore an atmosphere that has worn nineties couches in the front entry, and old old old decor...go for it!
