[For some reason there are twelve 5-star reviews for BFC on YeIp that are filtered; this site is getting pretty shady.] Apparently people would only be happy to spend an extra buck if they are hand-fed and have their butts wiped. I'm surprised people are pushed way outside their comfort zone by having to salt their own fries. Coincidentally the only pre-salted fry at BFC is the "bourgeois". The place is as far removed from a fast food joint as possible. Everything is as hand-made and local as possible (which happens to cost more than making a pink slime burger). Stop being the entitled Americans whom solely value convenience. I'm knocking off a star because 1) Iceberg lettuce is useless. 2) I'd rather have smaller portions (think sliders) with the benefit of a slightly cheaper meal. Granted it is a good price when split between two people (you're self-deluding if you think you need to eat that many calories in one meal), but then there are less fries to sample :)

Great bison burgers. . .And who knew Brussel sprouts and maple bacon jam??? Wonderful. Staff very friendly. Be sure to try their house made sodas.

  • Heather M.

Amazing. The bison burger and purple potato fries were spectacular. The housemade soda is the crown jewel in the meal.

This is one of my favorite places to eat in Boise! The burgers are great but I'm always there for the fries. Everyone should try the Bourgeois fries once in your lifetime! Dipping sauce isn't necessity for these most delightful fries! My husband and I would usually split a burger and go all out on trying different fries. It's great! We are big rootbeer fans, too. I love their rootbeer because it is not too sweet. Goes well with the food! Enjoy!

I am a firm believer that great bread makes a great sandwich, and in the case of BFC the bread is excellent. I had the sweet potato fries with a bison burger original style and the burger was very delicious and the bread was even better. Why only 4 stars? I cannot rate it 5 stars because that privilege is reserved for Hopdoddy in Austin. The fries at BFC were better, but Hopdoddy is all around a better burger, drink, and fry combination. Very very good, not quite there but getting close.

One of my favorite lunch spots. They offer bison and beef burgers and a variety of fry formats (shoestring, home style, curly, etc.) from a variety of different potatoes. They don't salt the fries as they offer a large variety of salts and dipping sauces. Plus they offer local brews, support the local community, and have a great and friendly staff.

Walked in on a Sunday during a pretty crowded time. Ordered my food and got my name called within 5 minutes, super quick! The employees were very personable and friendly, made me feel comfortable and happy to be there. I ordered a classic beef burger with bacon and the gold shoestring potato fries. The burger was perfect and the fries were even better. I didn't need any sauce or salt even though there was many options to choose from. I will definitely be coming back!

I have been coming to BFC for years. I try to hit up the local places more then the chains and this place is no exception. This location is usually a little quieter then the others as it's a little out of the way but I really like it. Always nice and quite and have nice out door seating and usually some good people watching on the weekends. When on this side of town it is definitely one of my stops. For the most part food is service is on par but every once and a while they slip up. Not bad enough for me to stop coming that's for sure..

  • Justin H.

This particular location is awesome. The people at the front counter never hesitate to make suggestions and allow me to taste a beer or two before we decide on a pitcher or pint. I've had conversations with the burger chef, especially regarding how nicely cooked the bison patties are (just a little pink... yummm...) and he's a really amazing guy, too. Did a great job on the veggie patty and, as goofy as this may sound, my wife has had her veggie burgers way over cooked at other places before. Super friendly staff, nice, open, always clean location and excellent food. I'm not Bown Crossing's biggest fan, but I never want to eat at any other BFC location EVER!

Tasty burgers! I actually like the burgers better then the fries. The plethora of fry sauce selections enhance the fried tater experience. Although, I wish they had the potato balls more. I've always wanted to try them and they are never available. I love the local art in the lobby and it's a great scene. Pricier burgers than I expected, but worth it.

  • Gregory B.

I always have the best burgers, fries, and po' balls here! Not only is the food great but the staff is very friendly. Choose your salt on the fries and specialty ketcups and fry sauces are available

One of the guys at the counter had to see my id because he thought I was a cop... Not a cop super offended ,Won't ever be back.

Excited to try a place where the fries are the centerpiece, but we walked away thinking the Brussels sprouts were some of the best we've had. That maple bacon sauce was spot on. My bison burger was delish, as was hubs' vegan burger. We ordered a kids burger, thinking we'd split it in half for our two kids, because they tend not to eat at all at a restaurant, and it turns out, their "kids" burger is just half a burger, so that backfired on us. We ordered 4 different kinds of fries... the po'balls try to be tater tots (I assume) but they were just soggy. The others seemed like they had been sitting out for a while... definitely didn't get the sense that any of our fry orders were freshly made. I love the dozen+ options to salt the fries, right next to the lineup of specialty dipping sauces, though the blueberry 'ketchup' reminded me too much of blueberry cream cheese on a bagel. They guy behind the counter was helpful in helping us "new-to-Idaho" folks figure out a local beer to order, and the atmosphere is friendly and casual; we ended up chatting to a few other tables through the course of our meal. Won't shy away from coming back at the next opportunity.

Best burger in Boise. I love the fries. I wish there was one in Nampa!

  • Rebecca W.

This is a must visit restaurant for anyone who lives here and especially fun to take out-of-town visitors to. I actually don't like the majority of the sauces...blueberry ketchup bleh...BUT, still so fun to try! I still need to try all the different seasonings that they also have. Pretty cool that they have a buffalo burger. Fun place!

  • Heidi S.

Ordered the Vegan Burger and Sweet fries. Will definitely be coming back. I went when it wasn't crowded so food came out of the kitchen fast. Line up of ketchups. Varieties from Thai sauce to ketchup to spicy fry sauce. Will definitely come back.

Bison burger original was delicious. Also had the brussel sprouts which were good although probably not that healthy once they hit the fryer. The honey bacon jam was amazing. I didn't try any fries. The service was decent but the tables outside were all really dirty. Good overall and I will be back.

Unwittingly, we arrived only a few minutes before closing time, and the workers gracefully served us. The bison hamburger was very tasty and not too big, the fries had got a bit soggy as we were getting the leftovers. Nonetheless, the purple and sweet potato were quite crispy, and the other ones, meaning to be buttery, were soft. I am not a great fun of fast food, but would come back to this outfit.

  • Craig S.

I love the location, the friendly staff, and the minimalist decor inside the place. I really enjoyed the bison burger. My son and I split the root beer float, which was excellent. I haven't tried their other sodas there, but I'm under the impression they make their own. The only reason I'm going 4 stars instead of 5 is that their fries are just a bit soggy for my taste. Just a touch crispier on the fries and they'd get the full 5!

  • Gytica C.

I love this place, we go here often! I love love purple fries and spicy fry sauce! I am a vegetarian and I really like their vegan burger and quinoa salad! Absolutely great!

My mom and i road bikes down here for my 25th bday (pretty sure this is the correct location ) anyways it was soooooo soo soo good and the boys behind the counter were total dolls ! I can't wait to go back again for some crispy fries ! Mmmm !

Boise Fry is my favorite Burger place in Boise. Fries are the best. You'll find them mentioned in national food publications. I can't identify one over another, just make sure you get enough to sample and spread their various salts and sauces on. Burgers are limited in selection and uniformly delicious. My preference is for the original buffalo. Love the Redwine gastrique onions and the garlic mayo. Lastly, they usually have a couple good local beers on tap to accompany your meal.

I took my parents here, along with the family, as a treat. I'd heard lots of good things about this place, and I liked the idea of a buffalo burger. All of us were happy to have a variety of fry types and sauces. However, six of six burgers were overdone and dry. A place that specializes in burgers and fries should be able to make their limited menu well. The staff had no idea if the root beer (not commercial) was safe for gluten intolerant folks, and that was a bit frustrating for my daughter. A buffalo burger needs tlc to be made correctly, but beef isn't that tough to make right. Between the hyped prices (over seventy for a burger, fry and soda for each of us) and the poorly made food, I can't say I will be back or recommend this place.

Very good burgers with interesting toppings. I tried the "heat" - spicy ketchup, blueberry salsa and habanero ( 2 alarm). It was a nice condiment Purple fries were excellent. 5 types of potatoes on the menu today. The menu was a little confusing for a newbie. I'd come back next time in Boise.

We'd been craving burgers ... but more than that we were craving fries this evening --those perfectly cut, crispy fried golden carbo sticks that are very bad for the body & manna for the foodie soul... where should we go for such fare? Why BFC of course, right? They serve fries with burgers on the side! Made to order for our purposes tonight it seemed. Unfortunately not. The fries we were served were soggy, greasy, limp, and tasteless ... a few were even undercooked. Dollops of sauce can only do so much to save a meal. The bison burgers were dripping with grease to the extent that i had to wipe mine off including the _top_ of the bun. The plates on which the food rested were wet. Clearly, our food was plated without an ounce of care or QC. Adding insult to injury, three oblivious patrons each accompanied by a dog - with one of them boldly, unapologetically off-leash - arrived at the door while we were mid-meal on the patio. The off-leash dog proceeded to saunter right onto the patio (while the owner was nowhere in sight), looking for scraps under the seated customers tables. For some, a dog taking food bits into its mouth then bringing it out for inspection and then licking it back off the ground might make for a perfectly acceptable dinner experience but it makes my stomach turn. And I realize that this might put me in the minority at least in the Bown crossing area but being in the minority doesn't imply that my feelings/ expectations are wrong or to be ignored, does it? As a paying customer & a human being with a set of reasonable preferences, I have the right to a non-vomit-inducing dining experience on a restaurant patio. "Dog friendly" policy is one thing. "We will have customers let their dogs run wild under your table as you eat" is another. It is important to remember that the reason why civil society needed to devise so many rules is because, left upto their own devices, people don't always make considerate or even rational choices. Anyway, in sum, a very unpleasant experience. Will not be returning to the Bown location.

Dropped in the end zone! This place is a fantastic idea. Six types of potatoes three different burgers. Nine different fries sauces and multiple different flavored salts for your fries. Not only is it a fantastic idea but they cut those potatoes into several different shapes. I would definitely recommend a thicker cut fries for dipping in your sauce. Further somebody had the brainchild to have this new type of restaurant in Boise Idaho of all places ; brilliant. Unfortunately that is where the brilliance ends. These sauces were entirely disappointing and most tasted like one another. The fries brought to me were quite soggy because they were so thinly cut. Although I tried four different salts it tasted little or no flavoring any of them. Complete the picture with mildly Inattentive service and a strip mall atmosphere. Like a beautifully scripted play in football which fools the defense and finds the receiver alone in the end zone only to drop the pass. This place is a five-star idea with a two star execution.

What a delicious burger and superb variation of fries that they serve! I am so admiring their Purple fries ... Would love to visit again

Overall pretty cool place. Staff is cool and relaxed, prices are not bad and the food is excellent. Love their bison and veggie burgers. Fries are spot on and they have some unique sauces-even if heavy on the mayo.

In our quest for the perfect burger we decided to check out a local place in a new mall location right off of the Greenbelt. This place has beef, bison, and veggie burgers. And the choices of fries is amazing approximately 7 different types of potatoes (I mean it is Idaho after all) and different ways they could be prepared. They have several fry/burger sauces and at least 5 of them that are vegan. I tried the beef patty and the YS had the bison. We ordered the small fries for each of us he got the golden curly fries and I picked out the purple thin cut fries. Soda, beer or wine to drink. I almost had the Underwood cellars pinot noir from Oregon which is an inexpensive pinot from Oregon but very good but elected for the soft drink instead. Pepsi products served here. They do not salt the fries they leave that up to you and they have many salt choices as well. We picked out sea salt for one and rosemary infused for the other fry batch. The small order of fries was plenty. A bigger order for two or more would be plenty. Service was quick and I enjoyed the decor some of the lamps were made out of repurposed bicycle parts and the tables and counter bar were made out of some rustic wood and highly varnished. Very pretty. This is a newer location and another one can be found off of Broadway. I would definitely come back to this fine and local establishment. There was a sign on the door that said check in with Foursquare and I could hear the YS mutter under his breath, "Foursquare, Yelps ugly cousin." HeeHee...

Love the variety of fries! I had the gold curly ones and they rocked!! My dad had russet homestyle and they were pretty good too, though not as good as the curlies. His wife had gold shoestrings and they were perfection. The atmosphere is nice and casual and the variety of dips and salts is great. There's even a Ms. Pac Man game!!

Great burgers and fries, simple as that. I often go for the buffalo burger, but i also really enjoy their veggie burgers as well.

Been here a couple of times. Great concept. Excellent beer selection for a smaller establishment. However not as great as I would have expected. Loved the area and the newness. Quite close to the water so we took a walk.... But the sauce will probably need to be changed (yes, all of them .... was it 12?) so that they are better and more ..... um different. Loved the potatoes. Every. Last. One. But the extras, other than the beer need some work. Givin' it a 3. And its solid. And I hope they move up!

BFC is a great place to go get your burger and fry mix. The fries are good -- and they have a fun assortment of different kinds of fries to try (as well as house made salts and sauces) but in my opinion its the burger that keeps me coming back again and again. IT IS SO GOOD!! I don't totally understand the 1 star reviews below. Seems like people might have wild expectations that weren't met. For me, if I'm looking for a burger and fry BFC is always in the discussion!

My boyfriend and I just went there for the first time a few days ago and got some burgers and fries to take home. It is in a cool little location right off of Parkcenter woth easy parking. It was too hot to sit outside but their outdoor space was nicely shaded for those enjoying the 6 PM heatwave. They have lots of variety of potatoes. I was kind if under the impression you coulf order any of their fries in different styles, but I guess they change it up a bit and only allow certain fries to be curly or thick on differnet days ? Hmm. Anyway, that didnt even matter. We went there to try out the place and it was great. We ordered purple fries and I also ordered their beef original burger while my boyfriend ordered the vegan burger (even though he is certainly NOT vegan lol). We traded and took a bite of each others. The beef was great! The vegan was also good but I prefer a burger-burger. I kind of wish they offered more like a grilled chicken burger, but oh well. :) im not a beer drinker, but I saw they had an Angry Orchard, so its good to know I could at least order one of those next time we decide to stay and have dinner there. Prices are good. We ordered the small fry portion and it was definitely enough for two people, on top of each of us ordering a burger. Will definitely go back again when I have my next burger craving. Ohh I almost forgot, their variety of 10 dipping sauces were also cool to try out!

  • Brooke W.

DELICIOUS! Best fries I have had ever! What sets them apart are the endless options of dipping sauces and salts. A bit pricey but worth the splurge!

  • Kirsten V.

No one told us they do not salt the fries. As far as the burgers go, I've had wayyyyy better flavors in my mouth. I had the vegan burger, which was ok, but different. I believe they made it with quinoa and black beans or something. Then it had pickled red onions on it. The sauces are also nothing to write home about. unless you are writing home about how horrible and flavorless they are. They almost all taste like a sour cream experiment by a 5 year old. Their garlic aoli ( which can really pop in the mouth if done right), was garlic free almost. In fact, I couldn't really taste the garlic at all. Suuuuuuuuper disappointing. WHY would Food Network go HERE????! Never again. My daughter's dad had the bison burger. Also not great. In fact, kind of gross. The sauces are *once again* unimpressive, and do not taste great with saltless fries. yuck. Not a fan.

First time visit on April 29th. Disappointed in the quality of the fries. Soggy and underdone, extremely greasy. Not at all what I expected for the price and previous reviews and write ups. For basically only 2 items on the menu - burgers and fries - things that are not that hard to make, we were not happy with any of our orders. Our party of 4 decided to head down to Westside on Parkcenter for a crispier, cheaper, BETTER fry purchase. There is a good chance I will NOT be back to Boise Fry Company thanks to our disappointing experience on Sunday evening.

Boise Fry Co. is NOTHING special just novelty, with a side of totally over-rated. The assortment of sauces is not the reason to go here, because a good fry should not need sauce. . .it's a french fry!! Starch goodness!! It just sucked. Basically it's wannabe cool. I have no idea why this place was on the food network, and why people go there. It was kinda on the over cooked side, and just NO. NO NO NO. The place is sad and full of blah, because it tries too hard to be "cool"~totally letting you down. It's just a wannabe special/cool place and it's disappointing. If you're a sugar junkie then you'll like the burger, but if you don't shower in processed sugar ask for everything on the side. It's where C&H went to die by the taste of what they put in their burgers i.e. that nasty relish. I want savory not sugary people! IDK just save your money b/c it's priced WAY WAY WAY too high for what it is. Skip this place b/c you've made a better burger at home and it's a really sad day when you have to admit that jack n the box fries are better . . . and those things suck! If this place didn't have a blurb on a network show when they were in town, then it would be out of business, it that means anything to anyone. I suspect this place will be on a down slope very soon by the other reviews~once the novelty is over and people notice the awful food ~ they'll be closed down.

First time at BFC yesterday. I'm given it a 3 stars. Only, because this place had flies everywhere in the joint getting on my food in I was inside. Food was decent maybe next time I will try the russet potatoes instead if the sweet fries.

  • Tommy C.

On a Friday night the place was filthy. Tables needed to be cleaned and the sauce bar was a mess. And the kid at the counter gave me stink eye when he saw that I didn't write a tip on my credit receipt. Why would I give you a tip before I ate? And why would I tip you when all you do is put my food in a bag. Nothing spectacular about the fries or the sauces. I feel like they overcharge a lot for what they serve.

Best fries, sauces and vegan burgers in town. Hands down. Great patio, staff and booze.

Great execution on a very original, unique concept. The Bison burger is the best burger of any kind in Boise. Not quite sure exactly what they do to their onions, but they're tender, flavorful and the best onions I've ever had on any burger. The wide variety of potatoes and styles of fries and dipping sauces are the most unique part of the menu and definitely worth making a visit for. Staff is always very friendly.

Wow what a disappointment! Went to the Bown Crossing location. Atmosphere was pure fast food. Barren no character really. Most popular feature was the video game some teens were playing. Fries were HUGE disappointment! Came in a stainless steel bowl which came I'm handy to hold the extra grease. Fries were soggy under cooked and generaly pretty gross. Sauces were a nice touch but even they could not overcome the soggy grease laden mass. Beef cheeseburger was ok but totally non descript and nothing special. Vegan burger was horrid flat and tasteless. Cardboard consistency. Wife only at a few bites. Bown Crossing is a great place to visit. Just stick with the brew pubs and restsurants. Sorry but this was not a good experience. Go to 5 Guys or Burger Express. Oh yea 2 sandwiches and 2 small fries was $19.67. Save your money!

  • Laura P.

They had a good Quinoa burger and I really liked trying out the different flavored salts that can accompany the fries. There are too many options of kinds of fries and salts, I will need to go back to try more. I recommend for a quick bite to eat and the patio at Bown Crossing is nice.

  • Jason N.

Staff is not friendly, they seemed not to care there was a customer. The cashier did not tell me about the happy hour special and that would of saved me money. I took my food to go and after a 2 min drive home the food was cold and soggy . New to Boise so I'm not sure what all the hype is about this place, maybe that's why they could care less about the customers is because they already have a big name in town. Don't waist your time!

  • Robyn A.

I love the fries and burgers only menu! I have tried every potato in almost every cut and they are all great! My son goes nuts for the PoBalls! Yam fries with jalapeno powder is my favorite but purple potato with rosemary garlic are a close second. Also tried their quinoa side salad for the the first time yesterday and it is also great. They make their own sodas which rotate and are really good ( I highly recommend their root beer). I love that they always have great local beer and the staff is always friendly and helpful. Bison and vegan burgers are yummy. Onion relish stuff is great but if you don't like onions get it classic style and you get their house made pickles.

My boyfriend and I went last night and it was awesome! Neither of us had been to Boise Fry Company before and weren't sure what to expect, except for fries of course :) The atmosphere was perfect, the burgers were as good as the fries, and the guys working were really nice. Out for a bike ride on the Greenbelt and thought we would stop by to try Boise Fry Company. Restaurant has only been opened in this location for about 4 months. Menu is very limited... burgers and fries only. Beef burgers were moist and juicy but I didn't care for the special sauce (relish of some sort) and the pickles were more of a bread & butter pickle then the traditional dill pickles. There were a variety of sauces and salts available. Tried several, but I guess I'm too much of a traditionalist to appreciate this restaurant. I'll stick with a mushroom swiss burger!
