Checked this place out last week. I had never been to the food truck so I wasn't sure what to expect. I was impressed with their remodel of the Falcon tavern and the overall look / feel of the joint. Even though everything wasn't outstanding, you can tell that they care about food and the little details. Some of what we had though was amazing. Try the fried chicken! I also loved getting boiled peanuts though they could have been cooked a little longer. But this Georgia boy loved being able to eat boiled peanuts in Idaho! Diverse beer list. This is a place where you can get in and out cheap or spend some money. It's your choice. I'll be back!

I've been waiting to visit for months, and it was definitely worth the wait! Awesome patio seating and delicious food. Sticky wings were awesome, especially with the black sauce. Try the pork belly soufflé. ..it is amazing!

Really good food. Particularly love the poutine and wings from the appetizer menu. Their barbecue is excellent, rich, smoky, and deep. Certainly the best Boise has to offer. Nice selection of beer and wine from local brewers and vintners.

Ordered some pork belly dish that was about 80-90% fried lard in some tasteless white stuff. Tiny portion too. For 13 bucks I would at least expect a side dish of some sort. I also waited 20 minutes for a beer - that was 20 minutes after ordering one, not including the wait time to simply place an order. One of the most disappointing dining experiences in recent memory.

My wife and I have eaten here twice now and the food has been superb on both visits. We've enjoyed the "hot chicken", Shrimp and Grits, Pork Sandwich, Sticky Wings, Panzella Salad, and the Pooooteeen. Definitely looking forward to the menu growing a bit for a more in depth selection.... but they have dialed in their menu / execution which is what a restaurant should do before thinking about anything else. Food is packed full of flavor and everything is well thought out. Patio is excellent, decor inside is inviting and comfy. We will be back.

Saint Lawrence Gridiron pairs classically creative craft cocktails and comfort food with an adroitness that commands respect. Came here with friends to celebrate their anniversary and so, of course, the first order of the evening was for celebratory cocktails. I ordered their Boulevardier, which is the fetching and always enticing cousin to the illustrious negroni. Substitute negroni's gin for bourbon and the jazz age darling of a cocktail is swirling in your glass. A cocktail that if done well is divine, and if done poorly leaves a flavor too Campari precocious and bourbon deficient. Fortunately, Saint Lawrence Gridiron does the Boulevardier and does it well. This spirit forward cocktail will leave your head humming and your toes tingling in the loveliest of ways. Next, came appetizers. Our dining companions ordered the wings while my main dining companion and I opted for the poutine. Poutine is Idaho meets Canada in one delicious dish. I have had ho-hum poutine and I have had exemplary. Saint Lawrence Gridiron's interpretation of the dish is by far my favorite. Fries smothered in gravy with the sharp zing of bleu cheese (instead of the more traditional cheese curds), this is not a dish to be trifled with. It was gorgeous and beyond flavorful. A word of warning, though--it is topped with beef--so not a vegetarians delight. For my second cocktail, I had their traditional Old Fashioned. My dining companions found SL Gridiron's Old Fashioned a little too citrus forward. For my part, I found it to be spot on perfect. But, then again, I like a little orange zestiness in my Old Fashioned. It was rich, lovely, and smooth as Mulberry silk. For my main dish, I ordered their macaroni and cheese. Delicious! It's not the most creative interpretation, but it was exactly what mac and cheese should be. It's pasta swimming in cheesy loveliness baked in its own cast iron casserole. What's not to like? For dessert, my dining companion and I shared their beignets and bread pudding and weren't wowed by either. The beignets seemed to lack substance and the bread pudding wasn't terribly memorable. Neither were bad, mind you, but they weren't fabulous either. The service was friendly but often lagging a bit. We sat on the patio, which may account for that. The patio is protected by buildings on three sides, which is nice. And, on occasion, they show movies out there. Get yourself a cocktail, some poutine, and enjoy the show! Overall, a place I will definitely visit again. And, often. Get to it!

Updated... second visit: Stopped by last night for drinks and dinner after work. Again, great customer service, greeted at the door. Tried the boiled peanuts and was not a fan. I think they tasted just as they should, but that didn't do anything for me. Give them a try and decide for yourself. The shrimp and grits, however, were magical. Apparently, so is the hen that laid the poached $2 egg that I added to the grits. It was an awesome addition, but a way over priced. I like this place. I will be back I'm sure.

Stopped here tonight for a bite. GREAT SERVICE, and fast yet relaxing. Had an old fashioned and dinner. I recommend the pork belly soufflé; comfort food at its finest, and portion conscious. I think the price is great too. Billy was our waiter and kicked ass from start to finish. For dessert I had the cookies n cream. House sugar cookies that were great @$5...hard to beat. Overall experience was perfect. I had a great Saturday night!!!

The best food I have had in Boise. Ordered two southern standards, the shrimp n grits and the pork belly. I am from the south, still live there actually, and I must say, these would make my momma proud. The shrimp n grits were unique yet still true to tradition and the pork belly was "Lyda Sue" good! Two craft brews and great service made this a great lunch!! Thanks!!!

I went there for the first time last Wednesday. It. Was. So. Delicious! The pulled pork blew my mind. And the presentation with my side salad was delightful and high end. For those familiar with the Boise food scene, this is a welcome addition and enhancement, filling a void I. That Fork-Bitter Creek- 10 Barrel love triangle. Can't wait to go back again.

My husband and I love this place - we were huge fans when it was a food truck, and we were really glad to see it become a brick & mortar establishment. My husband had the hot chicken with watermelon salad and was thoroughly impressed - and it's really hard to impress him. The corn bisque is amazing, and it's not a proper visit if you haven't had the poutine... The servers are always incredibly friendly, but I wound't say that they rush around making sure everyone is taken care of - it's pretty relaxed.

I really wanted to like this place, but the entire experience was pretty bad. It started with a dirty glass with lipstick all over it. The new drink that was brought out was completely flat. It took forever for the waiter to take our order. The food was mediocre at best, and the slice of bread that was included with my pulled pork sandwich was completely charred. Would not go back again.

Total rip-off. Waited almost half an hour (exactly 28 minutes) for an over-priced and under-sized, disappointing excuse for a sandwich. There were only 5 individual people in front of me in line, so when they told me my sandwich would be up in 10 minutes, I had no reason not to believe them. Fast forward half an hour (waiting in 30 degree weather) and I'm finally handed a small baguette (the smallest sandwich I've ever been served) sliced in half and topped with two even smaller pieces of meat, topped with (exactly) 2 quarter-slivers of onion per side and one very small fraction of a slice of a pepper. And some kind of relatively bland, foamy cheese sauce. I wish the sandwich I was served looked like the sandwich in the pictures that the owner posted. Unfortunately, it beared little resemblance. Emphasis on the "little". The meat was less than half the size of the meat pictured and it contained only a fraction of the veggies. Paid $7.50 to wait longer than I've ever waited at Vicino, Fork, Chandler's or any sit-down restaurant in town only to get a 3 dollar sandwich. Giving them 2 stars only because 1 star ratings are reserved for exceptionally shitty service. SLG was polite, just extraordinarily slow and definitely not a good value. If you're ever at the rally and considering SLG, consider going straight to B29 instead for similar, but better food and a better value.

The best bbq for hundreds, if not thousands of miles. And a cocktail menu that will blow you away. A must eat in Boise. Get the brisket platter and prepare to be in awe.

I had the chicken salad sandwich which was extremely tasty. It has a great combo of flavors with the bacon, avocado and cream cheese. I have never tasted anything like it. I was so sad when I finished it - but also very full! My sandwich came with a side, and I selected the sweet corn bisque. OH WOW, was it yummy! It comes with cornbread which is probably the best I've ever had. All this for $9 (lunch)/$11 (dinner) isn't a bad price, and quite comparable with other downtown restaurants. I will say it was a messy meal. That isn't particularly a bad thing, just keep that in mind considering who you're dining with, and what the occasion is. I've read some other patrons didn't receive great service. My service was fine. Not memorable, but it doesn't have to be. I was there on lunch break, and was comfortably in and out in 1 hour. I can't wait to try more items from SLG. I really think it will be one of those "you can't go wrong!" spots that I refer out-of-towners to. I love the atmosphere and the patio, and I think it's going to be a huge hit!

Boyfriend and I went in for brunch on a Saturday and we had: Steak and Eggs (brisket, grits, egg, and toast) - (6 out of 10) Pulled Pork Sandwich (4 out of 10) Caesar Salad (8 out 10) Service (7 out of 10) Atmosphere (8 out of 10) Steak and Eggs -It was slightly disappointing more-so because the portion was one strip of meat. -The smoky taste was acceptable (6 out of 10), but I have a high bar when it comes to BBQ (thanks a lot Texas). Although, it was cooked fairly well -The egg and grifts were slightly bland. I had asked for a side of BBQ sauce and the initial taste was rather ketchup-y and the after taste was good. -The toast was straight up average white bread, which I'm used to some fancy poppy-seed, nutty, or special bread like in other downtown restaurants, so that was disappointing too. Pulled Pork Sandwich -The sandwich was unusual in the sense that it didn't taste particularly how you'd expect it to taste. I think it was because they use a mustard bbq sauce that is overwhelming and masks the taste of meat. -The mustard bbq sauce was rather sour in a jalapeño way. -Caesar Salad Was very good. The dressing and cheese were above average Service -Was traditional and average for BODO Atmosphere -Ate out doors and was rather lovely

This is my favorite place for happy hour. $2 domestics and $7 to do poutine with radish and burrata. Even off happy hour, I tend to hit their appetizer menu; it holds many of the more creative menu items.

Visiting from San Diego... This place is pretty great. The pulled pork sandwich is unusual but awesome, more mustardy than BBQ-y. The fries are simple: thick cut, salt & pepper, and delicious. Check it out if you're in town! Great atmosphere and delicious food!!! -mel&marie

SLG has a sweet, new physical location where the old Falcon Tavern was located. They did a soft opening the week of April 21st and we stopped by the following week. The space has a great vibe with reclaimed wood and the addition of windows to really brighten up the space. A chalkboard next to the bar lists beers they have on tap and they also have a menu of beer in the bottle or can along with wines by the glass or bottle. If you are familiar with the food truck you already know what SLG is known for it's meat. The menu is very meat heavy (brisket sandwich, platter, bones and toast, ribeye, etc...) They have a couple of salads along with a soup. They also have a delicious trout entree and I noticed they have mac and cheese on the menu so there are a couple of non-meat options. So let's get the bad out of the way. We grabbed a table and a staffer walked over to ask if it was just going to be the 2 of us and we replied we were waiting on 2 more. And then we waited and waited and waited. We got there early so we could order a drink and chat. Another couple arrived after us, were provided menus, waters and ordered drinks. We finally had to flag someone down to ask if we could have some water and order a drink. Just because we are waiting on additional people to show up doesn't mean we don't want to have a beverage while we wait. Food service 101. Food: The flavors in all of the dishes our tables ordered were solid and the sides were exceptional (seriously, the cauliflower that comes with the trout was to die for and the succotash with my friend's lamb dish was out of this world). But every dish came out barely room temperature which really took away from the experience. My husband ordered the brisket platter and found much of it to be dry and disappointing. I don't utter these words about many bread products but the pop-overs served with the entrees are a skip. They had the right consistency but lacked flavor. The Good: They offer a couple of great roses by the glass (hello summer!) and the space is fun to unwind after a long day at work. Beer list was a nice mix of local, regional and other. Their sides are clearly the stars even though that isn't the intention. In the vein of many southern restaurants (I lived in Atlanta) I wish they would offer a pick 2 or 3 side dishes as an entree option. Based on the ones I tried this past week I would be all over that. They have a larger smoker that is suppose to be arriving from GA so I am sure in no time flat SLG will up their game. Overall I am excited to have SLG as an addition to the downtown Boise scene and can't wait to soak up some suds and sun on the patio.

The Poutine fries are SO GOOD! Not impressed by the pulled pork and bleu brisket entrees, but we are from Texas so we have pretty high BBQ expectations. We would've been completely happy with 2 orders of poutine! Edit: Thanks for the reply Brian! It's nice when businesses care about their customers. :) I should've elaborated better on my review. It wasn't the flavor, the meat was a tad dry (the pork in particular) and the buns on both sandwiches were hard, we ended up just taking them off. Maybe we just came on an off day? Either way we'll definitely be back for the fries!!

We had a large, 20-ish person group, for a business lunch and had made a reservation in advance. When we arrived there was next-to-no one inside and no one on the patio. We sat ourselves on the patio and then were told our table had been set up inside. They were very accommodating in moving the settings outside for us. After about 20 min, we were able to place a beverage order. After about 45 min our food order was taken. The first of our 3 tables was partially served in fairly decent time. But then we were told that a large to go order had been made and was being prepared before the rest of our dishes. Our server was very friendly and attentive, but employing what we can only guess was a staff of one server and one cook in the kitchen at lunch made for a somewhat exhaustive experience. I don't think there were any complaints about the food - it was all really delicious. So my downgrade is directly in response to the uber-slow production and delivery.

Best dining experience I have had in years and the food is phenomenal!! Billy is the best server on this planet! What an experience. I recommend this to anyone with a love of food!

The Mac and cheese is amazing here, and pretty much anything with the brisket is a decent choice. The house red is fine, although it's served in what appears to be a pyrex sauce dish...

Absolutely the best burger in Boise. I have tried different places and their burger is by far the best. The egg on the burger was cooked just right. My wife had the burrata salad and enjoyed it as well. We certainly will make this one of our go to spots.

I'm so conflicted. This is one of my favorite places to eat and while I want the very best for them I fear people becoming aware of this hidden gem. I've eaten there once or twice a month for about the last six months. I've eaten just about every menu item they have and it's as if every one is slightly better than the last. The plan 9 burger is hands down the best burger in the treasure valley. The mcclucken is what a chicken sandwich should be from top to bottom and with a Caesar salad or a bowl of sweet corn bisque you can't ask for more. I could go on and on from selected apps half off for happy hour to the killer specials like ox tail stew. Let me just say I'm sharing one of my faves and leave it at that. Enjoy the food!

Amazing food. I typically have a hard time eating out at smoke houses since I am lactose, soy, yeast, and egg sensitive. The staff was able to create a special salad with the most AMAZING smoked brisket I have ever tasted. The sandwiches and burgers looked amazing and their iced tea was delicious! Highly recommend this spot to people on a sunny day (especially since Boise gets so many of those).

Dude...just do BBQ. This place is trying to be too fancy. Get some good ole BBQ sides going and skip the foo foo BBQ sandwiches. Good and simple BBQ...all you need.

Everything we had was exceptional. The poutine is the best I have ever had. The fries are cooked perfectly, the gravy, the curds, the brisket are all executed flawlessly. And at happy hour it was 4 bucks!!! I also had the brisket sandwich and the brisket melted in my mouth. I was blown away at how well everything, EVERYTHING, was done. I can't wait to go back.

You might ask what vegetarian has business writing a review for a primarily meat-focused food truck? Well, I have two reasons: 1 - Fried Mac and Cheese and 2 - Wilted Kale Salad. Actually make that three. 3 - Hand cut french fries with cheddar beer sauce (or poutine minus the meat). Why do these items stand out? Because they are not the standard salad, flavorless mac and cheese, or salty carb. These items are made with ingredients from scratch and recipes with care. The kale salad has complex flavors of mustard and balsamic vinegar, accented by mushrooms and parmesan. The generous servings of fries are thick cut and fried perfectly. And the mac and cheese, I will be honest, can be hit and miss, but never is it inedible. Where SLG really stands out is their sauces. The ketchup is not like any other ketchup, the dressing is not like something you can find in your standard restaurant, and this is why I am a SLG's most devout vegetarian customer. Your food might come out a little slow, and the big red headed guy might be kind of an asshole, but he's always willing to bullshit with the customers. SLG is operated by humans, not pre-processed, not pre-packaged, or off the shelf recipes, but hot, fresh, home made food - from a truck.

Met here for a business meet/greet. Very pleasant interior and exterior. Nice menu - the food exceeded our expectations. I had the Carolina grits and it was SO well done I could have eaten three plates of it. Nice beer and wine inventory. Patio is a bit smokey due to the smoker in the corner, but we survived.

I remember trying this guy's brisket out pre-food truck at the Boise Underground Market and thought it was alright. When I heard he was starting his own truck, it didn't particularly interest me at first since I think this valley needs yet another place focusing on BBQ meat (or primarily BBQ meat in his situation) like we need needles jammed into our eyes. But what saves him from both apathy and a poorer rating is that at least he's TRYING to not be like the others and experiments with his dishes with more creativity than some stock BBQ joint could ever dream up (it's kinda like part-BBQ, part-gastropub). However creativity is one thing while execution is another. When I read he had poutine using burnt ends (LOVE burnt ends), handcut fries, and gorgonzola cheese, I very likely drooled on the floor. Unfortunately when I eventually had it, it was a major letdown. Suuuper salty. I couldn't even finish half of it before I tossed it. Thinking he had nowhere to go but up, I visited him when I heard he was selling thick slabs of fried pork belly and called them pork belly fries. Now this was more like it. Buttery rich with a satisfying dipping sauce to go along with it. If I could've somehow dumped those into a bowl of traditional Japanese ramen, I would've been in food heaven. Unfortunately much of the menu gets rotated out, and it remains to be seen if this ever returns. On visit #3 I had a brisket sandwich with gorgonzola spread (I held on the onions). And like with Pity D, what I saw in a picture and what I got were two different stories. The bun thankfully wasn't some cheap stock bun, but it would've been better if I could taste more of the meat when I was chomping down on the bun. There were two thin cuts of brisket enveloped in this comparatively big puffy bun. Basically I paid about $6.50 for a bun and spread and the meat equivalent of maybe a slider and a half. I read his response to Pity D and the mention that his cheese steak was supposed to have five ounces of brisket. Not sure if my sandwich was supposed to have the same amount of meat, but I'm having a hard time believing I got five ounces of meat on there (should've taken a photo in hindsight). Either way I felt ripped off for what I got. Compare this with the value of the meat put into a sandwich at Cutter's BBQ for 50 cents more plus chips and a side. That meat is bursting out of their roll, not being smothered by it. So going 1 for 3 there is more like two or two-and-a-half stars, but bumping it up to three stars for him at least trying to break from the otherwise rigid norms of what to do with barbecued meat around here. As mentioned by others, portions aren't that big, and you will likely need two entrees or a side to feel satiated. I only plan on returning if the pork belly fries reappear or another pork belly entree is introduced. P.S. coolest looking food truck in town.

  • A K.

I can't think of a place in Boise where you can get both a wilted kale salad with caramelized onions and mushrooms, thick cut fries, and pork in delicious forms- pulled pork, steamed pork buns, pork belly fries . . The portions, aside from the poutine, aren't over the top, so if you're really hungry or sharing, get the fries too.

The bottom line. There is not a food truck in Idaho that brings the level of quality and thoughtfulness that Saint Lawrence Gridiron does. I have eaten at this truck many times and have tried everything on their menu. You can tell that the food is made with care and more importantly, it is food that is pushing the fast food limits. This is chef food made as fast as it can be. I would rather wait longer for creatively made high quality ingredients than get another once frozen microwave fried meal. The smoked burger, poutine, fried mac N cheese are my favorites along with the best fries in Idaho period (comes with in house made ketchup). I just took my lady to a Valentines dinner that was done by the folks at Saint Lawrence Gridiron and I could not have been more please by the level of chefmanship that was offered at the 5 course meal. The food at this meal was not appropriate for a food truck however it proved how truly amazing the folks behind the food are. You can bet that no expense was spared to deliver the best ingredients available that were crafted into art. Thanks for the great night!

This was strictly a happy hour visit. I wouldn't have thought to stop here but it turns out Saint Lawrence Gridiron has a great happy hour including $3.50 wells, $6.00 craft cocktails and $2.00 off appetizers (plus a few other items I can't recall). A stout vodka tonic, the Bees Knees (gin-based cocktail) and a side of fries hardly set us back for the start of happy hour. Service was friendly and prompt. I would like to come back for lunch or dinner.

St. Lawrence Gridiron is a great choice for both drinks and food. Their brunch specials are always unique as well as affordable and delicious. Their rotating taps always bring the best of local brews and not just filler beers. Kelly is sweet and always asks me about work. When I spoke to the owner, Brian, he took the time to talk to me about the different beers and the restaurant in general. The environment fits right in with Boise and is less than a block away from the street market on Saturdays. The prices are great for the quality of products. It's a great place to spend time.

Service was very slow. Pulled pork was good, but everything else (fries, wings cookies!) was burned. Never got the last drink I ordered but was charged for it. I had high hopes, but not impressed at all.

Although the menu is a little bit small, Saint Lawrence Gridiron is one of my top two or three favorite restaurants in Boise. I particularly love the atmosphere, and the small lunch time beers. The food is always delicious. Also, they have one of the dog friendliest patios that we have visited.

Such an incredible group of people Brian has working at SLG. We are always so well taken care of. The Hot Chicken and Shrimp & Grits are the best in town. We also love the Brisket and burgers. With the addition of their craft cocktails the experience is surpassed by none in town. Get down there and eat...or drink. You will leave happy!

We came in at 4:45 and were told that dinner service did not begin until 5pm. No problem, we ordered fries and drinks and waited. And waited. Drinks and fries were served after 5 pm and the waiter that initially served us disappeared to work the patio crowd. At 5:20 another waitress came by to take our dinner order. She did not introduce herself or say what happened to the other server. We ordered the rebellion burger and pulled pork sandwich with succotash on the side. Our food came about 20 minutes later and while my husand's burger was ok, the pulled pork was cold and bland. There was barely any bbq sauce on it a just a sprinkling of slaw on top. I only ate half of my sandwich despite being totally starving. We were never asked how the food was... with good reason.

This was phenomenal food! We were assisted in our choices by Billy, who clearly knows this menu and everything that goes into. His passion for the entrées was infectious, and these plates didn't disappoint. My partner loved the pork belly soufflé; I had the seared trout, which is definitely the best I've had anywhere. The seasonings, the cauliflower, the perfect cut of fish. This is the magical substance of what true foodie dreams are made!!! The Izzy Verde was a delightfully refreshing cocktail, too. We will return, very soon. Bon appetite!

They weren't understaffed, but service was slow. The bun in the pulled pork sandwich was stale. The succotash was not fresh. The corn bread in the panzanella salad was very dry. Both the pulled pork and the brisket bits by themselves were delicious, but there's more to restaurants than just meat.

I personally would not elect to eat at Saint Lawrence Gridiron because I don't eat seafood and I rarely eat meat - that's about all they have. The vegetarian option looked odd - a roasted beet sandwich with arugula and goat cheese. The waitress recommended it, however, and I do love trying new things. I'm so glad I tried it. The sandwich was DIVINE. I've had different variations of beet & goat cheese pasta, but I've never had a beet & goat cheese sandwich. Wonderful flavor, and not as heavy as pasta. The arugula was a nice, refreshing touch. I highly recommend this sandwich, even if you're not a vegetarian. The location of the restaurant is great - right downtown near the Capitol building. The vibe is welcoming and casual. The patio provides a relaxing outdoor experience. The prices were fair and the waitress was friendly. The service was slow but only because the restaurant appeared understaffed. I won't come back often because there's only 4 vegetarian options (2 of which are salads - not filling, one is mac & cheese - too filling). But I will come back again for that sandwich!

  • Matt D.

Let me preface this review by saying that I usually only write reviews when I have amazing service because I like to give restaurants and servers the benefit of the doubt when things aren't ideal. However, the only thing positive to say about this place is that it has a nice patio. We met some friends, sat down, and immediately ordered drinks. My wife and I ordered a white wine and a beer which took 30+ minutes to get to the table. The rest of our table also had to wait just as long for their drinks. When she finally brought the drinks she brought me the wrong one (a mixed drink that no one at the table had ordered). Then the beer that I originally ordered took another 5-10 minutes to arrive after that... Then there was the food... After reading a lot of great things about their food I decided to try the bleu brisket. All of us at the table received our food at different times, (30-50 minutes after ordering), making it awkward for some people to be eating while others had to wait. While my meal sandwich had good flavor, it was enough meat to last me about two bites. Additionally the fries were burnt and tasteless but by that point I was so hungry I would've eaten anything. My wife said her Mac and cheese was bland and that she much prefers the one at ten barrel with jalapeños. One of our friends did say that the pulled pork was pretty decent. The waitress was also rude from the start and only became more frustrating as the night wore on. I understand that she may have been busy but the mistakes started to become ridiculous. When the bill finally came she had forgotten to charge us the happy hour prices and had to fix that as well. Needless to say, All of us at the table agreed that we won't go back and I would warn everyone to avoid this place. We all left there extremely disappointed. There are so many incredible restaurants downtown that are much more deserving of our money.

First time here and not sure if I'll be back. Just 2 of us and waited 45 minutes for our entrees. Placed an order for fries to start off with since we were both really hungry, yet they didn't arrive till 10 minutes after our entrees were served. They were also charred. My trout was cold on arrival. Sent it back and the second attempt was raw in parts. My date's souffle had fallen by the time it reached us. Long wait, cold food, raw fish, burnt appetizer and hardly any remorse from server and manager/owner. Not the kind of experience you trade $50+ for. We were given 2 tickets for a couple of free drinks--so basically I have to go back to recoup my lost wages. Great menu, poor execution. Lack of accountability from staff. No effort to "make it right" by comping the trout and burnt fries.

Great food truck becomes a good restaurant. Not to say the food is not great, IT'S OUTSTANDING! i opted for the succotash over the fries. The road less traveled made all the difference. Ordered Plan 9 burger - the thing is ominous! They said the standard is to cook it medium, but the patty is so thick it came out more rare to medium rare. Mostly rare in the center. But the seasoning and the sauce is soooo good. (Jurassic Park is playing on the TV, so rare seems fitting.) With the first bite of blue brisket i had from the Saint Lawrence food truck 3 years ago, i became an instant fan of the quality and flavor. Not a huge beer list, in fact, quite small, but these are craft beers that inspire you to order food that pairs well. With quality food and quality drink, I am not impressed with the ultra-blue collar furnishings and decor. Junior high wood shop grade stools; bars and tabletops that make you fear (unjustifiably) getting splinters. I enjoyed the beer, i loved the food; why are you chasing me out (through discomfort) with a sore back and butt before i had a chance to order desert? I hope Saint Lawrence lasts longer than it's predecessors in this location. They all had great (original) food and pleasing experiences, so the ball is in Saint Lawrence's court to prove it's longevity. As a side note i wish they had given tap consideration to the local breweries that helped Saint Lawrence keep going as a food truck.

I am not qualified to write a full report on the menu, BUT the brisket sandwich was one of the best smoked and sliced Brisket I have ever had. Great fries and some great sauces come with this BBQ treat. Ask for a side BBQ sauce, but that's just me.

The patio is a legendary one here in Boise but this is my first time here since the location became Saint Lawrence Gridiron. I was so incredibly impressed with my experience here- the server was awesome and led us down the path on a culinary journey we were not soon to forget. The drink suggestion was spot on for the weather and the mood and the appetizer special was out of this world! The menu was smallish but that's where the quality of the dishes comes in- we were all able to find a delicious entree that completely satisfied. I highly suggest the grapefruit soda beer with a shot of gin and the Mac-n-cheese with succotash!!

I've visited St. Lawrence on several occasions, both at lunchtime and for dinner. I've found their food to be consistently well prepared, flavorful, and unique in its offerings. They serve a variety of beers to pair with your meal, and the ambiance inside is modern and pleasant. A favorite dish of mine (it may no longer be available, as they rotate featured entrees from time to time) is the Hot Chicken. It's fried chicken with a spicy batter that's flavorful and crisp. Love. I will note that at times the service can be a tad bit slow, and that during the winter months I find it necessary to wear a sweatshirt and a couple layers in order to stay comfortable while dining in. But I'm a bit of a wuss when it comes to the cold in general.

First of all, when you enter the courtyard to go into SLG you smell roasted meat and it smells AMAZING. If you weren't hungry before you go there, You are when you approach. I'm sure they have vegan options but this place is for Meat Lovers. Went to SLG to play trivia and Won! So returned to use my meal voucher coupon that I won in the pub trivia game. Wasn't that hungry but ordered the Brisket platter to share. It was AWESOME. Grilled Brisket, flatbread, spicy mustard, baby gherkins, all come on a plank platter to put together your own little sandwiches. It was enough for both of us to leave satisfied but not stuffed. If you are a big eater this will be enough for one person to be full. Full bar with rotating taps. I had a local IPA (as usual). Lots of Hipsters.

My first visit here with friends who live in Boise. I really enjoyed the Poutine. The flavors were a great twist to a classic dish! The Old Fashioned cocktail was very good. I really enjoyed my Cornbread Panzanella salad with Brisket. The salad was a little underdressed but the cornbread was excellent and the brisket was a delicious addition to this well executed salad. I look forward to dining here again when I'm back in Boise. The atmosphere is relaxed and fun. I recommend you check it out.

Made dinner reservations - arrived to have the hostess mark us as arrived and basically ignore us. Our table was apparently ready, she could have proceeded to seat us to open up the clusterf*** of people collecting at the entrance, but whatever. The food was solid and the portions (at least on the entrees of which we ordered the trout and brisket platter) were quite generous. Our waiter was on point in spite of the numerous tables and some large parties he was tending to. The food will bring us back.

The ambiance is a rustic modern leading into a slight pub feel. The staff attentive and cheerful. Tables and chairs are rustic industrial look and no table cloths. Music playing overhead was a little louder than I like but definitely not deafening. The meal was presented on white plates and was visually appealing. I ordered the blue brisket and it was a great choice. The brisket was slightly cooked too well for my taste ( note: I like rare) but the flavor was great. The pickled onions gave it just the right finish and the spice was perfectly added. All in all a great place to eat.

We met a friend downtown today and she suggested this place for coffee and snacks. Wow! Forget the snacks! We ordered Shrimp and Grits, French Toast with berries and plantains, and coffee. The coffee here is café presse----strong and hot and we had several refills it was so good! The courses came. Shrimp and grits were unlike any that I've made myself or had in a restaurant----a tomato gravy on the bottom, a layer of creamy grits, and some Cajun spiced grilled shrimp on top. It was ample enough for the three of us to share. The French toast was made with brioche bread, topped with mascarpone cheese and served with some grilled plantains(something I'd never tasted, but will again!) Berries rounded out the plate. We finished these which again were an ample amount. The server came back and tempted us yet again with beignets----those French Market pastries served in New Orleans. We relented and weren't disappointed. They were small pillows of fried dough, dusted with confectioner's sugar and served in a paper bag with a side of blackberry jam for dipping. Yum! Service here is casual, leisurely but also helpful and friendly. There's a smoky smell in the air and many of the items like brisket and pulled pork are indeed smoked here. We definitely will be back to try more of the offerings of this great eatery in downtown Boise!

Clever rustic decor and a cheerful server were a good start even though we were the only ones in the eatery at 7:30 on a Friday night. Granted it was a really cold night but I expected from the reviews that the place would be packed. Only a handful of tables filled up during our meal. The food definitely looks good with strong emphasis on presentation and the recipes seem well thought out. We started with the Poutine. It was good even though the reduction had been overcooked to a tar consistency and the meat was dry. We then moved to Brisket and the Shrimp Grits. The brisket came out on a wood slab which was fitting since both the wood and the meat had the same amount of moisture left in them. The grits were very tasty except for the fact that the shrimp were translucent and grey. We asked for them to be cooked and of course asked that they not over cook them but that they are just cooked to begin with. A new plate arrived with half the amount of shrimp as the first, the new shrimp being translucent and grey. Suffice to say we skipped desert. Pure and simple great recipes done to imperfection.

Went here for the first time last weekend and it is now my new favorite place! Great happy hour on apps and local beers. My friends and I all tried the poutine (I had never heard of it before) and thought we had died and gone to heaven. It's also right off of 8th Street, but does not have all of the noise/hustle and bustle which I LOVE. Servers were very friendly and informative. Let us know about their movie and trivia nights, which I will be trying soon! Highly recommend this place and can't believe I haven't been here before!

Really yummy place in Downtown Boise. My favorite dish was their poutine with beef tips. Their watermelon salad was also refreshing and delicious. The drinks were well done and quite inventive. The server was lovely. All you need to have a lovely meal. Thank you!

First time, flavorful menu and non existent service. Unfortunately I believe I never spoke to the same waitress more than once. We ordered two sandwiches the Blue Brisket and the McClucken, with a wait for the order of at least 30 minutes which was long, but even longer when no staff came to see how we were doing or explain the delay. That being said the food was extremely tasty, both dishes had a flavorful impact. Brisket is a dry style of BBQ which I prefer and the ends were perfectly charred. Chicken sandwich honestly, the ingredients pared made it a sandwich you could order weekly. I recommend going here if it's not a special occasion where the service would not effect your dinning experience as much.

The food and drinks were great. There is a large patio, which is lovely on a nice day. The service was incredibly slow. I would go here again, but review the menu in advance, so you can order as soon as possible. Start with two drinks because it will take a while to get your food. Plan to relax and enjoy.

Service is big for me, so maybe it's my fault this was a fail. You be the judge: I came for late lunch on a Saturday (2:30pm). It was too hot for me to eat outside--though there were two couples dining al fresco. We walked in and nobody even looked at us. The place was surprisingly busy for a late lunch. Only three (of ~12) tables were available--none of them cleared or cleaned. After we asked how to proceed, we were told to take a seat at one of the dirty tables. Ewww. Thankfully we were attended to, and our table cleared, in short time. After ordering we noticed both waitresses had a table outdoors, and were spending a lot of time shuttling drinks out there. Four total diners on the patio were commanding 90% of the attention of the entire front end staff. We watched the plates for a four top sit under the heat lamps as 9 minutes went past. Eventually they were delivered their salads & burgers. When I saw our sandwiches land on the kitchen bar, and noticed that both waitresses were again outside I got a bit anxious. Three minutes went by and I was staring at my lunch under the heat lamp. I looked back outside and our waitress was petting a long haired Australian Shepherd. DISGUSTING*. At this point I jumped up and taking matters into my own hands, I served my table our food, explaining to the kitchen that I'd watched our server petting a dog outside and having just washed my hands, preferred to get the food myself. Of course, the fries were limp and a bit cold by now, and we still had no silverware, or ketchup. The waitress was clearly ticked that I had brought attention to the fact that she was too busy collecting bacteria samples to do her job, and thus did not approach us again. The second waitress took over with a smile and was quite friendly. We never did get ketchup for everyone at the table, and our water went empty for the duration of the meal. *Before you judge me a dog hater or a germaphobe let it be known that I have a dog I love and have always had one. I know dogs are dirty animals. I know that it is advisable to wash ones hands after petting a dog and before handling food. As for the food. Meh. Not bad. Nothing earth shatteringly good or bad. Good enough to eat again. And the setting was great! I really liked being in this place. Cool, comfortable feel. Some from our table even moved to the big comfy sofa nearby while waiting for our food. Here's my beef. The owner of this place invested untold $$ revamping the look and feel of the space. Why not spend a little $ on training employees? It doesn't take much to teach people to work smart, and to be genuine and diligent about serving their customers' needs. I consent these gals could have benefited from the assistance of a busser/dishwasher. They also could have greeted us with a smile, had a more sensible system for getting people their food in a timely manner, and making sure our needs were met.

The truck has grown roots - they've upgraded to a restaurant on Bannock St, and it's great! The Harvest Salad is the best salad I've ever had. Incredible good. The pulled pork was also exceptional, as is everything else I've tried on the menu. The house red is my new favorite.

I tend to be a hard critic of BBQ and I really enjoyed this place! I had the pork sandwich with mustard sauce and the corn bisque soup. The sandwiches was awesome with the mustard sauce and the soup had a deep rich taste to it that I couldn't get enough of.

This is my new joint! I'll start with the the visual. It has a unique benefit of being set back from the street, allowing for extensive exterior seating, a huge grill, and a pretty neat sign. Walking in is a complete sensory immersion. The TV had a classic movie (Roman Holiday) playing, the music was interesting and pleasant but not too loud, and the place smelled like a campfire. The design aesthetic was a mix of rustic earthy with modern industrial feel. The table was made of wood but there was black and white photography and a matte black ceiling. It felt pretty Portland in this way. I'm not sure if they intended that but it worked for me. I was hooked from the start. We sat inside because the outside was packed. The service was very prompt and friendly without being overbearing. I had the pulled pork with fries, and she had a cornbread salad. The pulled pork was a good Carolina style sandwich with some good slaw on it. First bite test was definitely passed. The fries were a little over seasoned. Although I would have them over correct in that way. I had a Payette Mutton Buster (classic) then a Rasputin Stout. She enjoyed her Salad and Wine as well, saying the cornbread lived up to the intrigue and the wine was complex, but not too strong. Side note, the bartender looked a lot like Jim Gaffigan, and that was awesome.

Great happy hour with Delish beer and happy staff!! We went on Alive after five night and it wasn't crowded at all. Really enjoyed the shaded patio:)

Oh wow! We ordered the entire brunch menu and found nothing short of spectacular! This little gem started as a food truck and grew into this great local spot with out if this world food and craft cocktails.

All I can say is YUM! I had the pork and it was perfection. The owner was there and very friendly and seems to really love what he does. I'll be back..a lot.

The best bbq for hundreds, if not thousands of miles. And a cocktail menu that will blow you away. A must eat in Boise. Get the brisket platter and prepare to be in awe.

They weren't understaffed, but service was slow. The bun in the pulled pork sandwich was stale. The succotash was not fresh. The corn bread in the panzanella salad was very dry. Both the pulled pork and the brisket bits by themselves were delicious, but there's more to restaurants than just meat.

Thanks!!!

-mel&marie

Absolutely the best burger in Boise. I have tried different places and their burger is by far the best. The egg on the burger was cooked just right. My wife had the burrata salad and enjoyed it as well. We certainly will make this one of our go to spots.

Food and beer game strong. Hipster game stronger. Felt like I wanted to come back soon to eat, but maybe I'm an unwanted guest. I better wait.

Although the menu is a little bit small, Saint Lawrence Gridiron is one of my top two or three favorite restaurants in Boise. I particularly love the atmosphere, and the small lunch time beers. The food is always delicious. Also, they have one of the dog friendliest patios that we have visited.

Went here with some guy friends when our ladies were at a girls night. So weird. Great food! Great service! I would elaborate, but it's as simple as that! I also had a great nitro stout after never having stout or nitro in my life. Loved it. It was my first time there and I'll definitely be going back again. Great job everyone!

Service kinda sucked .. These ho cakes were cold , dry, no syrup or butter. Brisket was dry and lukewarm . I waited 10 minutes for my beer . Coffee was grainy . Stay away unless food quality and service changes . They are trying to be a hipster artsy place , but this place misses the mark big time. The red head server is funny, but absent minded .

The food and drinks were great. There is a large patio, which is lovely on a nice day. The service was incredibly slow. I would go here again, but review the menu in advance, so you can order as soon as possible. Start with two drinks because it will take a while to get your food. Plan to relax and enjoy.

-mel&marie

Really good food. Particularly love the poutine and wings from the appetizer menu. Their barbecue is excellent, rich, smoky, and deep. Certainly the best Boise has to offer. Nice selection of beer and wine from local brewers and vintners.

Updated... second visit: Stopped by last night for drinks and dinner after work.

I've been waiting to visit for months, and it was definitely worth the wait! Awesome patio seating and delicious food. Sticky wings were awesome, especially with the black sauce. Try the pork belly soufflé. ..it is amazing!

The best bbq for hundreds, if not thousands of miles. And a cocktail menu that will blow you away. A must eat in Boise. Get the brisket platter and prepare to be in awe.

Thanks!!!
