Horrible customer service. The food is okay. I'll probably try again hoping that someone else is working.

I tried this food once on a Wednesday night and ordered three dishes--a bowl of Hot & Sour soup, chow mein, and white rice. The white rice was the best. The chow mein was overly greasy, though not bad otherwise, while the hot & sour soup was mostly bland. The flavor that did come through was unrecognizable as a Hot & Sour soup and not enjoyable. I think there is better value (quality/price) to be had elsewhere. I do not recommend.

A lot of people seem down on this Chinese restaurant but my experiences with them have been pretty good. It's a step above Panda Express and the prices are great. I'm a big fan of their Kung pao chicken. Most entrees with fried rice, soup, and an egg roll are only $6.75. Great value. If you want high class, non-american Chinese food, expect to pay more at a restaurant (probably not in the Boise area). I think this establishment nails the more Americanized Chinese dishes. If you don't like that kind of food, don't come here (it saves more of the Kung pao for me!)

Imagine you are back at college, going through the cafeteria line checking out the different ethnic foods under the sneeze guard, and you decide on the Chinese. Well, this was worse than that. The worst Chinese food I'v ever had.

Well what can I say, I honestly love this place. Sure it's not the nicest place in town to grab some food at, but who goes to a restaurant only for its appearance?! They are fairly quick, very nice, and always get my order right. Their food is great, I love the sweet, and sour pork with the pork fried rice. You get a pretty big helping off of all their orders, and you really get a lot for what you're paying for. Like I said you could go to a nicer restaurant, and get your food quicker elsewhere, but honestly for the money, amount of food, and how good it is you can't beat it. If you want a nice dining room experience go to Panda Express, and have half your meal be frozen, and pay twice as much for a puny plate...

I love me some Chinses food, but dang that was bad! I never have problems with the food like I did with theirs...did not sit well with me. I tried General's Chicken, GOTO Golden Star...never go wrong there!

We waltzed into this former Mexican fast food joint at about 6 in the evening. We ordered the Hot and Sour soup and and the beef with black bean sauce. Neither dish did much to satisfy the pallet, but they weren't the worst Chinese dishes I've ever eaten. The lady at the counter (hostess?) was very kind. The decor is very bland and very fast-foodish. As I mentioned earlier it was a former Mexican fast-food joint. What's odd is that it hasn't been for about 10 years and they haven't done a thing to convert the place to anything resembling something Asian in nature. The price is right though, even if the portions are only barely adequate. Pay them a visit if you're poor college student that doesn't mind paying little to no money for little to no atmosphere or flavor. There's also a drive-through window. Go figure.

The decor for NEC is a cross between post-apocalyptic industrial cafeteria and Arizona strip mall. My seat had a duct-tape repair job that lent that certain "je ne sais quoi" quality to the place. The meal of beef fried rice--I didn't dare try anything else--consisted of reheated clumpy rice with mysterio meat. Here's the weird thing: I liked it, but I guess anything drenched with chili paste and soy sauce will end up tasting OK to me. My waitress/maitre d'/ entertainment for the afternoon was a delight in the same way getting a teeth cleaning is a delight. Yes, I do like getting my teeth cleaned, but many, many, many people don't. The fact she was speaking to everyone--hey! I want coffee! (this to the unseen cook)--at 45 decibels put the cherry on top of this already delicious escape from reality.

I have to stick with a 2 star rating even though I really like going here because the servers are so entertaining. It's true this is typical Americanized dreck, but for a quick lunch you will survive it. It is worth slumming it to experience the banter and space cadet escapades right out of "Dude, Where's My Car". youtube.com/watch?v=K7lu…

Worst Chinese food I've ever had. I think the Chinese-food situation in Boise is dire enough that I can't really recommend any of them (my advice is to eat it when traveling to a big city on the west coast with a bigger Asian influence). If you held a gun to my head and forced me to recommend one, I'd say Yen Ching, although the hordes of white folk working there made it the least authentic Chinese experience I've ever encountered. Is the city that short on Chinese people? Such is a similar situation at the cleverly titled North End Chinese Restaurant, although I wasn't able to see who was fixing my food in the kitchen. Even if he/she was Chinese, it didn't matter. Crap is crap. And for a city where Chinese food is subpar, this takes the cake for being the worst of them. I got my food way too quickly, which caused some concern. Stale, reheated dreck. I should've known when I noticed there was a drive-thru area. Buying La Choy brand food at the store is better than what I got. Stay away.

I wouldn't even give this one star, but I can't write this otherwise. Can you say "microwave?" I've had better microwave food than this. Just awful, it's dirty, and the service stinks.

I'd rather eat the ass out of a rhino than eat here again. And I'm a big fan of ass....I just don't want it on my plate....

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
