I'm not sure why some people who've reviewed were expecting incredibly authentic and upscale chinese in a small restaurant in an old neighborhood next to a dollar store... I grew up on chinese food from this joint and have come to know what is good here and what isn't. My friends, I'm telling you, go here and try to walk away with anything left on your plate after ordering the "special egg flower soup" and pork fried rice! The soup is insane! They put shreds of bbq pork, crispy egg noodles, and green onion in the best egg flower soup I've ever had. Maybe I'm a little nostalgic because I grew up on it, but you can't deny that the service is great (Tom is the man!), especially for a relatively small kitchen. Short story- dont come here for the giant egg rolls, come here for the special egg flower soup!

So bad...can't wait to poop it out. Don't waste your time unless you want to pay a premium price on bland dog food.

Mediocre, but cheap and a lot of food. If they opened downtown, or were 24/7, I would drunk eat here a lot.

This place gives a whole new meaning to "junk food". We ordered 4 items ala cart and egg rolls. Gross, every one of them. We picked it up on a Saturday night during the dinner hour and only one table was occupied. Neither of us ate what we put on our plates and put the rest in the fridge to return. They were closed Sunday so when we went back again on Wednesday to return it there was no one at all in the restaurant at 6:45. They refused to refund our order and basically said, too bad, everyone's taste is different. I would agree if it was one item we didn't like but each one was awful, tasteless, junk. Oh, and BTW, if you order chow mein, you will get chop suey. Their chow mein is chop suey with crunchy noodles. Their chop suey is served without crunchy noodles. It's too late for us, but you still have a chance to save yourself the money and disappointment. Yelp makes me select 1-5 stars so I selected 1 but wouldn't have...

Blech! To call Nam King's food mediocre would be misleading, this food is horrible! We won't be going back, ever! - yuck :(

They should call this place Yawn King. I was so bored by the gray old carpet I couldn't taste anything. You pay $11 for anti-flavor. The Kung Pao (kind of a meter stick of Chinese restaurants) was forgettable. The food here doesn't even register on the scale. It is an existential experience in nothingness. The only plus was that it was not gross. I wish there was a great place in this shopping center so close to home. But instead we have a Sartre version of Chinese food. Don't fall into its trap.

Having lived in some major cities, I love good Chinese food, and since Nam King is close to my house, I will go there sometimes. This is adequate. The egg rolls are NOT what I expected at all. They look like giant donuts - lots of dough and too much filling. They are a meal of themselves! I was hoping for a more traditional egg roll when I ordered them. The service is great, at least, and they are attentive, and everything comes out pretty normal - just so-so.

Swallow Sadness! This place has HORRIBLE customer service. My mom and I went here on a hot summer day and the inside was dreadfully hot. We asked if there air conditioner broke or something...they were so rude and made us feel as though we were crazy. Very rude! I will NEVER go back there. Plus there food is not even that good....;(

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
