I Have to share a disappointing experience my family shared at Lucky 13. My Wife and I brought our 3 & 1/2 year old twins in for dinner. We found a table outside, ordered and were enjoying our pizza. My daughter needed to use the restroom so my wife took her in. Just as they went inside my son asked for more water so I took him inside. We walked back out moments later to find an employee dumping our four plates each with a piece of pizza on them in the trash. I was bewildered as we still had half a pizza, my wallet, two cell phones a full margarita, sunglasses and my wife's purse all sitting on the table. I thought it was pretty apparent we were still eating. I called to the employee and told her that we were still eating just after she dumped our plates. She responded with, "Oh, do you need more plates?" I said, "yes but what about the 4 slices of pizza?" She walked out a minute later and handed me a stack of plates, turned and walked away without a word. I was bewildered to say the least. Adding to the confusion was that when we arrived it was fairly slow and there were plenty of dirty tables on the patio. I wanted to bring this up before we left but at the time we left the line was wrapping the restaurant and we didn't have time to wait and didn't want to disrupt the dining experience of so many others. I wanted to share this experience so that it might be used to provide some situational awareness for the employees as Lucky 13 moves into a busy summer season. -

One of our favorite places. Especially on a summer or fall evening. Great patio. Our go to's: Camelsback Pork Pizza and the Belle of Brumback sandwich. Sometimes the place has premium tables so if you don't want to loose your spot, make it known. I'm sure there was no ill intent. Great place to dock your rig and go for a nice bike ride on the Greenbelt and then cool down with cold beer afterwards.

Amazing pizza and location, right off the green belt! The service is quick and friendly. I love riding my bike to Lucky 13 on a lazy afternoon and grabbing an ice cold microbrew with some delicious pizza on the outdoor patio. Make sure to try the Lucky 13 Supreme with jalapeños, soooo good!

Lucky 13 has a great location. And a great setting. But those things save a place that is otherwise very problematic. The food is not good, the service is subpar - and worse, the system in place to feed folks is a mess. You must wait in a line (often long) to order pizza, then after you finally place your order, you have to wait quite some time for your food - 45 minutes or longer is not uncommon on weekend evenings. It doesn't have to be this way. Hire some servers and fix the system and folks wouldn't have to wait as long. The food is not great. Pizza at Flatbread or Flying Pie or Pie Hole or just about any other local pizza place is better... it's just not good here. The crust isn't good and the toppings are odd. Skip it.

Good food and great restaurant facility. Sometimes, its can be just a little too slow because everyone bottlenecks at the cash register since you & pay at the same time through the same person.

Came in with my mom, split a large pesto pizza and had a couple Blue Moons on the patio. I really enjoyed the patio, lots of lovely flowers, shade, and seating. The pizza was good but the crust was very thick and a bit heavy handed with the cheese, but that's just my not my personal preference. Perfect for some folks I'm sure, and it made for some yummy leftovers when reheated in the oven. Overall a relaxing and fun experience, I would come back when on this end of town.

This is an artisan pizza joint and they do have a full bar and tasty craft brew options on draft. We gathered here for dinner on our first night in Boise and the joint does go by gastropub rules, so you order at the counter and it gets brought to your table. Our party ordered a veggie pizza (I couldn't tell you the ingredients, because I didn't eat from that one) a jalapeño bleu cheese pizza, which was outstanding, and my favorite the basque chorizo, ham, and tomato pizza. I screwed up and did not get it with the sauerkraut option (Mike's Way), so that will have to be remedied next time we're in town. Service was fine - the food was amazing and the craft brew that I partook of was stellar. The only thing that stands out is that the location sits across the street from some new property developments. On the surface it looks out of place but on the other hand it sits in a prime location for the new and future residents of this neighborhood. They will probably open a second location sometime down the road, because demand will be nuts when everything is said and done.

The patio is nice. Haven't tried anything from the bar. My husband works near here so eats here occasionally. Says he's only gotten 2 sandwiches and that Jimmy Johns is better. We tried a pizza today. About a notch above cafeteria food. I don't see anything special about the food, but it seems like a cool place to chill.

good pizza, horribly run, hardly worth the frustration, especially for take out. customers have to wait in same long line to pay/pickup take out orders, which makes no sense. i've pointed this out numerous times to employees when picking up a pie to go, and have to wait more than 10 mins just to pay/pick-up. considering i complained years ago and nothing has changed, either the employees dont care enough to suggest changes to management, or management isnt listening to their customers, either way it's indication of the attention to customer satisfaction, which is greatly lacking at lucky 13.

Yucky 13. Being my local, I yearn for them to make the pizza and sandwiches edible. Would love to have to edit this rating soon.

Like cafeteria level food and service? This place is for you. The only saving grace of Lucky 13 is the beer list, but even that does not make it worth the drive.

A Boise institution. A must visit. My family first discovered this placecin the early '80s in the Hyde Park neihborhood. (Before Hyde Park got overrun with hipsters.) Now it is located in the growing Harris Ranch area by Barber Park. Conveniently located on the Greenbelt ride out toward Lucky Peak and a reasonable walk from the park or to and from the Shakespeare festival. Not far from Mtn. Bike trails and rock climbing opportunities. A great stop after completing a float trip down the river and trip back to recover your vehicle. Didn't catch any fish? Have a pizza! The menu is simple and plentiful with pizzas, sandwiches, and salads. It gets busy, especially on sunny bike riding days. No waitstaff to serve your table, so be patient as you stand in line at the counter. Be courteous to your fellow patrons and have your mind made up and order ready when it is your turn. You are going to enjoy it, so don't be afraid to order something new or unfamiliar. You are going to want to return and try something different with each visit. You can order something light or go all out and get a pizza large enough to satisfy a party of 6. Despite the busyness the service is fast. Always have had less than a 10 minute wait regardless of the number of people in my party. A good selection of craft beers and wines available to satisfy any palate. During the off season the bar is only staffed after 3:30pm, so be ready to get back in line if you need another beverage. Keep an eye open and make your move at earliest convenience. A large outdoor deck makes enjoying the weather and conversation with your party a memorable experience . Pet friendly so feel free to stop in while walking the dog. It's Boise, so smile and be Two levels of indoor seating. Large garage doors opened on warm sunny days keep the inside comfortable if you want to limit exposure to the sun. Family friendly, but sign posted asking adults to keep the kids under control and volume down. It may not be exactly the same Lucky 13 I knew in my teen years, but it continues to be the place I always feel the need to visit when I'm in the neighborhood.

Lucky 13 better step it up or they will be lucky to exist a year from now. I'm not sure whey people rave about this. Bread sticks were flavorless and tasted store bought. The white sauce that came with it tasted like weak garlic flavored miracle whip. The medium sized pizzas were small for the price. The crust was bland and nothing special. It honestly was about on par with DIjourno from the grocery store. The place had awesome outdoor seating and a cool vibe which was a plus. Aaaaaand their water was nice and wet so it quenched my thirst. Will not be returning. See Michelle's review for further info....

The worst part is the crust. The crust at Lucky 13 is about as uninspired as you can get. Reheating the pizza the next day, the crust is hardly worth eating. The best part is the toppings. I love the Camel's Back Pork pizza. If it came on a decent crust (like any other pizza in the area), it would get an easy 5 stars.

Had an exceptionally good pizza experience here this week. Crust was crIsp on the bottom but not dried out. Topping we're quality and proper amount. Get there before 6 for happy hour prices.

My husband are in search for the BEST pizza place in the valley. We tried Lucky 13 last week and it was good but not as amazing as people had built it up to be. It was just normal pizza with creative names and topping combinations.

Please see Michelle R.'s review dated 10/2/2013. Michelle's review sums up my experience almost to a "T" and I have no idea who she is. The only reasons Lucky 13 was given two stars: Clean establishment, convenient location for SE Boise locals and "eh" food. We paid for an overpriced $22 8-piece pizza that tasted fine, but the quality of a frozen pizza. We assume the price was so high just to pay the mortgage bill of this sad place. We honestly left the place feeling sad, the atmosphere was just... sad. The customer service was minimal and even that was done poorly. I walked into Lucky 13 to the bar side, being that it was my first time I was just looking around. The two individuals behind the bar did not acknowledge me because they were too busy talking to each other (it's not like anyone else was inside this place). They definitely saw me though. I walked over to the other side where you can order food. Again, no acknowledgement despite me smiling and saying "hi" to the gal. She just looked at me. No "Welcome," "How are ya" or "Do you have any questions," just blank stares. Maybe they were surprised they actually had a customer? We ordered the pizza and walked upstairs to seat ourselves because we just felt awkward sitting in the empty room downstairs with the distant, unfriendly employees. We ate the frozen pizza on freakin' paper plates and with plastic silverware (that they don't even recycle). Seriously, invest in some dishes... the indoor picnic theme is not cute. There are wayyyy too many great places to eat in Boise than to spend time or money at Lucky 13.

It's been a long time since I've been to Lucky 13, and it was at the old place. I had a small pizza for $13, which for Boise seems a tad overpriced. It was tasty however- it was pesto, artichoke, tomato. No service as it was self-serve order at the bar. It certainly isn't anything like the old place, which was constantly full of energy and people. Too bad Lucky 13. I wouldn't send people here from out of town on purpose, but eat here if you just want an okay place. Don't eat here if you remember when it used to be amazing, because then it is definitely a one star in comparison.

Great when you want a laid back patio or place to grab a casual bite. Their Lawrence of Lancaster never fails to satisfy and their pizza is pretty dang good. Nice having them on the east side. :)

Lucky 13 is a cool place to hang out and it's very family friendly. The pizza is just OK, nothing to mind blowing. Like the rest of the reviews, great toppings but poor crust. Also, the pizza is always way under cooked so we have to ask them to leave our pizza in longer so it comes out piping hot and completely cooked through. Sandwiches are ok, salads are pretty tasty. Not our first choice but not our last.

Would I go back here? The only way that question would result in an affirmative answer is if immediate demise due to starvation was the alternative. Otherwise, not so much. I write few two star reviews given I simply don't invest the time to do that. But this place was recommended to us and it is worth the time for sharing our "huh?" experience so other visitors new to Boise may weigh it against other input. In particular if you are, as we were, on your way to spend time at the lovely Boise Botanical Garden and figure Lucky 13 is a good stop on the way. Bottom line = all "meh". Based on my husband's and my experience, you can do a lot better in Boise. Voting with our feet and wallet, we would pick any one of the umpteen better alternatives next time. The young woman behind the counter wasn't as friendly as we'd come to enjoy everywhere in our Boise week but pleasant enough that I came up with 2 stars for the experience here. That's where the good news ends, I'm afraid. The drill is order at the counter, you'll get a number and they'll deliver food to your table. Not that we really needed a number given on the high noon lunch time we visited there weren't many customers in the place. The menu is sandwiches, pizza, appetizers and none of it particularly creative. The food was served with plastic ware and flimsy paper plates. Plates that blew right off the table outside in the wind, not uncommon in that part of Boise I hear, when the server put them down. Then again, chasing one's plate around as it blows about is one way to exercise before a meal. The pita / hummus / veggies plate we ordered was edible but bordered on flavor free. Still, at under ten bucks it wasn't expensive flavor less food so that keeps them in two star range as well. The ambiance was good enough on the deck outside, but inside was another matter. I acknowledge that is a different strokes for different folks issue. Yelp is opinion after all and mine of the ambiance is once again 'meh'. Accessibility here is woeful. Inexcusable given this is a relatively new building. Although made to look like an old garage is actually a newly designed and built structure and this place lacks some basics. Given the size of the deck and the amount of (all high counter) seating in the bar, I imagine my husband and I are in the minority in our two star opinion here as they must fill it up to have built it so large. Different strokes. We recommend a pass on this one.

I had to bring my friend to the airport recently, so we stayed the night at her relatives. This bar was about ten minutes from the house on foot. It was a great experience. We didn't get to eat there as we had already had dinner, so I can't speak as to the food quality, but the drinks were made well and were priced very decently. The bartender was very nice and attentive. We sat outside on the patio and it was a great time. I would absolutely come back again. The only thing I can say that needs attention is the liquor display. It's a bit lack luster, but hey, it's a nice place to have a beverage, so it's alright!

Since my last review, we decided to give the Lucky another shot. We noticed a significant improvement in the quality of service as well as a slight improvement in the salad. The pizza (aside from coming out burnt and crispy one time) has kept its standing as delicious. My girlfriend and I also carried out our long-desired plan to ride our bikes out here one afternoon, and it was full of great times. We love all of the recent tweaks and are proud to call this a destination once again!

Hometown Favorite. For East Boise Pizza fans, Lucky 13 makes its customers happy with a super casual family oriented environment tucked up snug against the Boise Foothills. This part of town is expanding fast, with growth on Bown Crossing and the neighborhood of Harris Ranch simply exploding. Lucky 13 has about a dozen micro/craft beers on tap and a rich selection of pizza's based on local favorites. Previous reviews suggest the pie here should be left in the oven for a little more cook time and I'll have to agree - thus order your pie well done. A quirky set up, there are no waiters, except for the bartender (who starts only after 4PM each day). You'll self serve yourself after ordering, but its a quirk I kind of like because its kept simple. The massive garage doors roll up in the Summer Months, making this stop - just a couple of dozens steps off the greenbelt - a seasonal favorite of ours. Its cute, clean and family ready. Four large screen TV's in the bar - set up with sports! It's a pretty darn good place for pie! Close to Parkcenter, Micron and Warm Springs areas.

I really like this place. The pizza could be cooked a bit longer as another reviewer put it. My first choice is Louies or flying pie neiher of which we have on this end of town. If your a greenbelt fan its a great place to stop into. It get kinda loud here since they're very kid friendly and they seem to bday parties and such. Great beer selection and its a nice place to get away from the riff raff downtown.

Nonplussed with the bar service. Perhaps I set my expectations too high. Been here a couple of time but usually with a large group. Not terribly impressed with any aspect of the place but it is not too bad to hang out in when it is not full. At least they have free wifi to use while you are waiting for your beer.

White peoples pizza - no attributes - If you are challenged for pizza - try your grocers freezer - even its better. try lulu's better yet - fly to Schnectady, Brooklyn, New Haven... in Boise, and if you like lucky 13 pizza pojo's is even better. for the first reviewer...they are not in the North End now - update... no question - Lucky 13 is still the worst.. but My new Favorite is Pie Hole - Try Wednesday - Thai Chicken or every day Pesto

My all time favorite sandwich is the Tuna melt! It has a light hint of horseradish and is served lightly toasted with melted cheese, lettuce, and tomato. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly and the beer/wine selection is awesome. What a great place to relax and have fun with some friends - especially in the summer when you can bring your dog and sit outside!

This was updated as of10/2014: Atmosphere is great, especially the outdoor seating during the summer, pizza is OK, service is TERRIBLE. The good: The outdoor seating on the patio is a great place to have a beer during warm weather. FYI, a gas station is being built right across the street from the patio currently, so that might kill the patio experience next summer. The OK: The pizza. It's OK. Not great, not bad, just OK. The bad and the ugly. The service is really bad. Let's face it, there are tons of bad service reviews on here and nothing has changed. Lucky 13 management just doesn't seem to care. At this point I am hoping another good restaurant replaces Lucky 13. I used to go to Lucky 13 to watch football on Sunday afternoon. I order a pizza and a beer at the main ordering counter. I walk away with the beer, and the pizza is delivered 10-15 minutes later. If I want another beer, I have to go back to the main counter and stand in line for (often times) 5-10 minutes to get another beer, in the middle of a game, while others order pizzas in front of me. They don't have their second bar open during the early afternoon on football Sundays (!!!) making the main ordering counter the only place for a refill of a drink! They need to have a place where you can get a quick drink (soda or beer) refill OR they need to switch to regular table waiting service instead of having customers do all ordering at a counter. Also, I think they've lost a TV or two recently. I went there recently and was surprised that there were fewer and smaller (?) TVs, which is not working for watching football. The worst part of the service happens in the evening. I have been there multiple times when they have closed up early while there were still quite a few customers having meals or drinks. The place is run by a bunch of teenagers and/or college students and there's no real adult manager around. Around 9pm, those kids are ready to close up shop. They'll start wiping tables right next to you, putting chairs up, and generally making you feel rushed. This has happened to my at least three or four times. I'd love it if they had more of a set closing time and some better service so that I could actually enjoy my full meal without fear of them closing, and get a refill of my beer without missing an entire quarter of a football game. Also, their WiFi is down half the time and they don't know how to fix it.

This is definitely one of my favorite pizza places in Boise. The pizza is delicious and see is the cheesy bread, especially with the sauce. The atmosphere is very relaxed and during the summer the outdoor seating is great.

This is probably number two best Pizza in Boise for us. It is very good and I like the new facility ( they moved out of Hyde Park, a good move) Friendly and competent staff, good pizza. Beer is cold. No waiters though, you order at the counter and they bring it.

  • Lauren W.

I really loved this place. In the heart of the North End neighborhood it is a great place for good food and an extremely relaxed environment. Be it pizza and/or a pitcher it is truly a great hang out...and especially on a perfect summer day. With mostly patio seating, dogs are (were) welcome - which may or may not be your thing. It is the epitome of casual - you order at the counter and grab your own napkiins/settings. They have a great selection of pizza's as well as beers (if memory serves me). This is not a "dining experience", rather an afternoon grab a bite and beer and enjoy.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations.
