Java is my favorite cafe in Boise. The coffee is excellent, and the patio is a perfect place to relax and people watch while enjoying my beloved almond milk cappuccino. Yep, I said almond milk! I was overjoyed when I discovered that Java offers unsweetened almond milk during my last visit to Boise, as it's hard to find coffee shops that serve milk alternatives other than soy. *Claps!* In addition to delicious beverages (be sure to try the Bowl of Soul if you're in the mood for something special), Java offers an extensive breakfast and lunch menu. I really enjoyed the Huevos Rancheros for brunch last week, but my go-to order is the "Skinny Mini" - two poached eggs with cottage cheese and sliced tomato. A great way to start the day!

They can make the best poached eggs in town! & great hollandaise sauce as well.i really like the one downtown a lot ,although the one in Hyde park is super pretentious .Makes me feel really uncomfortable .

A cup of love! Not only is Java delicious, they have good service and an excellent atmosphere. They are an excellent place that personifies what living in the north end is about. Chatting with friends, watching kids play, bringing your dog or your bike or both. I highly recommend Java and always try to take out of town friends here. If you haven't tried it, you should!

This place has been a north end gym since it opened. It's the best place to meet a friend for a cup of coffee, or have a casual meeting..plus their dirty chai's are the best in town. The. Best.

I am furious I found this gem of a cafe and neighborhood on my last day of my Boise trip!! I seriously thought about extending my trip to be able to come here again!! A great alternative to Dowtown!

Awesome vibe in the best neighborhood of Boise! Great service, food is fantastic, free refills on coffee. One of my fav local hangouts

Came here for breakfast I got the croissant sandwich. The steamed eggs were mushy, hardly any cheese on the eggs and the croissant was good but wit the mushy/watery eggs it made the bread soggy. I did enjoy the atmosphere and location of this java! Coffee-was GREAT! I had the bowl of soul with their homemade whip it was delish! Their coffee brand is a good quality too. Overall I would go back but for their coffee only =)

The bowl of soul mocha was pretty awesome, though the place was absolutely packed when we went! It wasn't all bad though, we took our coffees and walked up to the park to enjoy them. Definitely recommend checking this place out if you want a break from your usual coffee routine. Great stuff!

Java is my local go-to coffee spot because of its convenient location (and really only coffee place in the vicinity) but also because they have great drip coffee. Staff is always friendly and make quick work of your order. They carry Amaru Confection's gluten free muffins which is a plus. The lines can be long on the weekends during peak coffee hours.

The first time I saw Java was in the winter morning of 2012. The same year I moved to Boise and encountered big snow. I still remember that day. A sense of mystery slip through my sight as I drove by the dim light window. A man was sitting under the European curtain reading a newspaper inside the shop. The cup on his hand must be warmy and cosy. I thought to myself. Then in the early Spring, my friend, Jay and I came in for our breakfast after the jog. We had two plates of avocado toast with eggs. I have to admit it was one of the most memorable breakfast I had. Really healthy and fresh. And I love the fact that the shop is in the heart of downtown. On Saturday morning, I can walk to the local market from here:)

Everything about my original review still stands: Great location, darling atmosphere, awesome service, interesting patrons, and fantastic coffee. What I would add: Came for lunch and had their tuna melt. It was absolutely fantastic. Served on sourdough, the tuna was not mayo-y at all, but rather herb filled and flavorful. It was topped with tomato steaks, jack cheese and cracked pepper. It was ample and served with a side of tri-colored tortilla chips. My dining companion enjoyed their tortilla soup and was quite happy with his selection as well. So, my main addition to my previous review is that I would definitely and unequivocally recommend this place for lunch! Get to it!

We are staying around the corner at a VRBO apartment. I have a class downtown this week and my wife wanted to come down with the kids to play while I'm learning things. This has been my morning ritual every day to grab a latte and breakfast before I head out. The environment is comfortable and great to hunker down for an hour or two and study if I want to. It gets busy in the morning but just get up earlier than the crowds.

Much quieter than other cafés, which is a plus for me. However the pastries are not the best. Had a muffin and it was very dry.

Traveling here from Maui and I think we found our favorite coffee stop! This is our 2nd time in, and first time ordering food items. Ordered the hummus plate and hubby had the BLT. He mentioned the bacon was cooked just for him and was a thicker meatier cut than he normally has. His sourdough bread was pleasantly toasted. All in all, a fun lunch experience! We shall be back!

The combination of a coffee shop with good coffee and a convenient location always feels like a victory. This Java serves up some reasonable (though not life changing) coffee and is conveniently located near Camel's Back park along Hyde park. Not worth going out of the way for, there are better breakfasts in Hyde Park and downtown certainly, but also not the greatest tragedy to eat here.

Best cup of coffee you can get in Boise. The location in the north end has an amazing atmosphere with friendly people, plenty of room, and fast WiFi. The manager, Emily, is amazing and it definitely shows in how well the place is run.

Came here with my roommate at the time in college when I took a little va-cay through Idaho to help move back after the summer. We met up with some friends of hers in the area for breakfast. Had breakfast (nomm-tastic) and the BOWL OF SOUL! It was love in a cup. I will be back if I am in Boise :)

Good coffee served by good people in a good setting. Can get pretty crowded during peak hours, but a great place to hang out with a coffee during off peak times. The Keith Richards is quite good imo.

I came here for breakfast. Before I get to the food I'll just mention for its size It has ample room on the deck outside and seating inside as well. Also, it was free wi-fi. Onto the food. I ordered a bacon and egg croisant and cinnamon toast. Unfortunately, the person at the register wasn't listening closely and decided to serve me up a cinnamon twist instead. I was too tired to let her know. The twist however wasn't that great. It was a tad bit dry. The egg and bacon croissant was awesome. The eggs were tender, the bacon was savory and not to fatty, and the croissant was buttery and soft. For the prices paid for each plate, they were great portions. Now onto the bad part. There was a ungodly amount of flies just floating around the cafe. It was odd that nobody else found that strange or tried to do anything about it. That being said, I wouldn't let that ruin my desire to come back here again in the future.

Espresso drinks get a definite FIVE STAR! However, it is the laziness of the staff that makes me give it a 3 star. Whenever there are female baristas and front cashiers, I have a great experience. It is when it is the all-male staff that service starts declining. I went there on a lazy Saturday afternoon. None of the tables were cleaned off. Dirty dishes sat, taking up space. I had to bus someone elses table to sit down. I had to wipe it down with a napkin, while the guys working just stared and one finally yelled out "2 o'clock, i'm out of here". When I left and told one of the staff that there was an entire egg breakfast under one of the outside tables, he said ok, and continued to do nothing about it. However, coffee is amazing, food is great, and the female workers are what make me want to return.

If Starbucks knew how make a good Bowl of Soul, they woud be 15 million times richer. Bowl of Soul should be recommended by doctors instead of... valium... maybe...each Java is cozy and makes you wanna stay and take a second and read something.. and each Java has amazing food also! They have a real menu, making brunch legit.I STILL remember a tuna melt I had from there like a year ago. Their food is sadly better than most fancy places I've been to here in Idaho... esp. Twin Falls. Go, get the Bowl of Soul, WITH whip, and just STOP for a second. It's the most worthwhile thing you'll do in your day.

Probably the best outdoor seating and setting in Boise, Inside is nice as well , food is good and pretty healthy although fairly expensive. The coffee is great quality and you have a alternative bean everyday if you dont want the house brew "blue-sky", I wish they would brew the coffee stronger however, Its kinda watery compared to most coffee shops.
