One of the worst experiences of customer service I have ever dealt with in fast food. We had ordered 2 milkshakes. It took over 20 minutes to get them at the drive through and there was only 1 car in front of us. When we reached the window there was no friendly greeting, just told the amount. That was fine, we paid it, then waited, and waited. Knocked on the window and no one helped us. Finally someone came 20 min later, i timed it, and asked for our money again. Our shakes had been sitting there the whole time. We told them we had paid and had been waiting. The gal rolled her eyes, yes rolled her eyes and handed us the shakes and slammed the window. Will never be back again. You guys need some mature, responsible employees working there! We were greatly disappointed as I had heard great things about their shakes ours were too runny to enjoy. This was last Sunday the 8th of September, late afternoon.

You can't go wrong here. This is one of the best old-school "drive-inn" style burger joints in Boise. The Herby burger is tits as is the rest of the menu. it is located on the way back from Bogus so it's perfect for after skiing calories. It's not as good as the Viking Inn but still very good.

I have been testing out the drive thru restaurants in Boise and I have to say Pac-Out is the best so far. The food is tasty and low priced and the service is good. I tried hamburger and fries, shakes and ice-cream all very good.

MMMMMMM.....fry sauce. If you don't know what fry sauce is then you need to stop by Hawking Pac-Out. They are and old school mom and pop drive through with greasy burgers, Idaho fies and delightful fry sauce. In sixth grade my teacher picked one boy and one girl to be the "student of the month" and their prize was to go to Hawkins during lunch.....I still remember being so excited to go. Also try their fresh strawberry shakes in the summer when strawberries are to die for....that is the only time I will go any where other than fancy freeze to get a shake, their to die for.

Pac-Out is a one of the best drive thru burger places in town. The prices are reasonable and the hamburgers taste like hamburgers, instead of some mystery meat from other quick stop places. The Herby Special is a tasty burger with sauce and cheese, and comes with fries that actually taste like potatoes. Great place.

There was an across-the-board mediocrity to the place that makes it better than the lower echelon of fast-food chains but not much higher. The first time I went I played it safe and got their $5 value meal. I guess I shouldn't have been surprised when I saw that the burger was more like a kids' burger. I learned my lesson and went for their two most premium burgers the next two times I was there. Unfortunately those burgers are on the dinky side as well, and I'm not exactly a fan of somewhat stale and crusty buns on my burgers. I felt like I was ripped off on my onion rings order given how many I got and what I paid for them. Their fries (which reminded me of Wendy's fries) are a better value. When it came to taste, everything I had was average at best, right down to the fry sauce. I didn't bother with their shakes. If you live right by or are coming down from Bogus Basin and starving, this place will do in a pinch. Otherwise there are better burger places to be had with a couple extra miles of driving. My experiences there were a lot like my experiences at Viking, another longstanding local burger joint whose appeal escapes me. I thought the food at Pac-Out was a little better (most notably with the fries), but not enough to give a higher rating than what I gave for Viking.

Worst costumer service I've ever received from a fast food drive in! The arrogant teenage girl running the window needed to be slapped in the face, seriously! I won't be coming back, ever and will write a letter to the owner suggesting he hire staff with actual costumer service skills. And the food tasted freezer burnt!

Great fries! Food is a little more expensive, but worth it. Great shakes of the month.

The Baja burger is the one for me. It has a green chili on it. Also the aptly named Bogus burger is safe for vegetarians.

At best this place is over priced, with just OK food. I won't go back

Perhaps my favorite burger joint in Boise. I LOVE their fries! Easily my favorite fries in Boise. I also like their potato buns that they use. I used to live up the street from Hawkins, so please be advised that my opinion could be very biased... but I always feel great whenever I eat at Hawkins. My mom likes to get what she calls a "potato medley" where she will order a side of sweet potato fries, a side of gems and a side of regular fries. I guess it is safe to say she loves them all? Even though she is a sweet potato fry gal at heart. *disclaimer: she does not eat all the fries. The fries are often times shared between 4-5 people. I would advise against ordering 3 sides of fries for one person in one sitting.

I'm not usually a fan of strawberry but I will drive clear across town for Hawkins FRESH strawberry milkshakes (they're really that good!). I do wish that they would extend their hours for summer. It's still light out at 9pm! Last night there were still people eating at the tables and people TRYING to order but the staff turned them down. I'm a business owner and I will stay open as long as I have a line and make money.

This is the traditional cheap fried hamburger joint in the best way. We stopped by on the way down the mountain after a day of boarding. They have the perfect location and menu to fill that hunger you get after being up on the hill. There were three of us and they had something for all of us, from a western bbq burger topped with an onion ring to a hamburger with ham and cheese on it. We made them meals with tots and they make the drinks large at no extra charge. The fry sauce is included and is definitely a special sauce. The burger was a bit over cooked, I gave them a four star because they just do a great over all job. Very nice and friendly, there is a reason they have been around so long.

This place is great!! They serve good old-fashioned greasy spoon/50's diner food so if you're looking for something healthy, move on. I'm honestly baffled by a few of the other reviews, especially one that says the burgers are dinky. Every time I've been here the burgers are HUGE and delicious! I usually get the Bacon Cheeseburger and fries, both of which are served hot and are very tasty. We live across town from this place but occasionally will make a special trip just to get a burger here. The food, for a drive thru burger place, gets 5 stars in my opinion. Definitely not gourmet but if I wanted that I would go to a restaurant with tables and chairs, not a drive thru. There are a few draw backs here. The location can be awkward to get to being on the corner like it is and traffic makes getting in and out difficult sometimes. The malts/shakes are very very sweet, I think they need more milk and less malt but still good in small amounts. Everything is quite pricey, it is good but I wouldn't be willing to pay those prices very often. The only thing I really don't like about this place is the wait time and customer service. It's great that the food is always very hot but if there are people in front of you it's best to sit back and relax because it's going to be awhile. I'm not sure why but they seem to only hire high school and college students who think they are just too good to be serving burgers so they are snooty and unfriendly. Fortunately for them, they have good enough food for me to ignore the brief unpleasant interaction with their staff.

This place is great! Just know that it is not fast food. I have waited a good 15 minutes one time. I would have left but I was boxed in. That is why this place makes me smile! Unique and old school.

I should have read more of the reviews before trying this supposedly great burger spot. The very bored voice when we ordered at the drive-thru kept trying to end the order after each item we ordered. It was like they didn't want to sell us anything. Then after waiting a good 20 minutes in line for what was supposed to be food made to order, we got hamburgers that had buns so dry and hard they actually hurt my mouth to eat. The meat patties on the burgers (Herby Burger and Hungry Boy) were cremated beyond recognition. We also ordered curly fries and small milkshakes which, I do have to say, were very good. Unfortunately they did not make up for the worst hamburgers we've ever had.

Great burgers, could be seasoned just a bit better but the meat is good and they always have crisp toppings. I like to get mine with a green chili on it (it is the one they use on the baja burger). Their orders of tots and fries are huge and can usually satisfy two people. Try it.

My Grandmother would go here when she was in high school, so I took her here the last time we were both in town. I thought it was amazing and she thought it still tasted the same. Their fry sauce is something special, I've never had anything like it. I'm sure that

The milkshake was way too sweet, and the buns are doughy.
