I eat Chinese a lot. This restaurant is on the bottom of my list. I got General's Chicken, Fried Rice and a half order of Crab Rangoon. Usually about $10, but here it was $15. The taste was bland. General's chicken should be a little spicy and the sauce should definitely not have the same consistency as my glass of water. The sweet and sour sauce was red water. It took about 20 minutes for my food to be ready as well. So price, taste, quality, service are all thumbs down for me. Go to Panda Express which is on the other side of the road.

Great hot & sour soup! We also had the General's Chicken and Chicken Yellow Curry and both were pretty spicy! If you like hot...awesome...if not so much, you might want to ask for it to be not as spicy. Other than that...very good food! :)

first vist, general's chicken. Chicken was cooked perfectly, golden brown and crispy with nice green onion slivers on top. Portions on the large size but almost $10 for lunch. Sauce was a little on the runny side for my tastes and too sweet. I like my generals chicken a little spicy with some bean paste. Received my order very quickly. Will try again.

Gluten free Chinese food, Not bad!!! It wasn't anything special but it was good. Next time I'll eat in, as we had takeout, and maybe I will enjoy myself a bit more.

The meal was awesome. The furniture and menu board are in desperate need of updating, but don't let that stop you from trying this place. Tons of food, great pricing, and very delicious!

To start off, if I could give them a zero I would, but I can't so they get 1 star. I ordered through their website online for a delivery order. Once I ordered they called me up and told me that delivery could be as long as 1 1/2 hours. I asked them how long it would be if I came and picked it up and they stated it would be 20 minutes to a half an hour. I then ran some errands and got there 45 minutes after they had called. I went in and found out that my order wasn't finished!! I had to wait another 15 minutes making it a full hour for my take out order! Plus I believe that half of my food was sitting out because the entrees were luke warm at best! Additionally,I had specifically asked for 2 containers of rice in my order, and they simply ignored it and only gave us one container of rice to split, although I bought two dinners there, and both dinners are supposed to come with rice. THANKS FOR MAKING ME SPLIT UP MY RICE! The food is decent, but you'll definitely be on their time line and not your own! Absolutely not reliable as far as time goes! I will NEVER go back because I don't know when I'll get my food!!!! Instead I'll just go over to Panda Express. At least I know I'll get my food in a timely manner!

This is our go to place when my husband and I are in the mood for Chinese food. Our three most fave dishes are: Mongolian beef, ba pao ding and moo goo gai pan. Portions are plentiful.

We ordered lunch delivery for two people today, and while the food was very good, delivery was slow. That being said, when I called to inquire if there was a problem, I was told delivery orders always take about an hour. The food was good enough that we can take that into consideration and live with it. We moved from LA less than a year ago and have been hard pressed to find any good Asian food in Boise. While this place can't compare to Chinatown, it could certainly hold it's own in other parts of the city. Very tasty indeed. Nice portions at a fair price. We will be back.

Have ordered for delivery a few times. They make everything fresh so the food is good. You can also spice it up or customize which is nice. Menu is pretty standard Chinese fare but tasty. Delivery service is good as well. Food shows up hot.

This place is probably one of the most authentic and decent Chinese restaurants in Boise. The price is decent and the food is great. Food is full of flavor and there is plenty of food to go around and lots to choose from. I will come back again. Plus they have delivery, carry out and dine in. *thumbs up!*

I moved from Northern California about 7 months ago and ever since I have been trying to find a good Chinese restaurant. I have never been so disgusted by Chinese food and the sides of ketchup? wth do u put ketchup on that is Chinese? I was going to places that were supposed to be great according to yelp gross gross gross! Well this time I decided to go some place without great rating thinking maybe everyone is just backwards around here. Well it is Sunday and I did not feel like driving nothing was open so I was struggling really to find ANY Chinese place that was open it was 11:59 am and I ran across this place opens at noon WOOHOO and delivers so it was going to have to be here and I just decided to give it a shot regardless of bad reviews and boy am I happy I did my search is OVER. My honey loves hot and sour soup while I LOVE seafood but most of all crab rangoons I get them every time I get Chinese food. Anyways I am just kind of rambling we ordered the Kung pao scallops, house chow mien, broccoli beef, crab rangoons, hot and sour soup, then we got the dinners so I got steamed rice honey got fried rice. Veggies crisp in every dish the kung pao was actually spicy, chow mein delicious not greasy! Broccoli beef was probably some of the best I have ever ate. The crab rangoons were not the best but they were better than most places I've ate id order them again just a lil bit too much onion flavor I believe it is then the moment of truth the hot and sour soup which almost every restaurant makes badly IMO and I like but am not a huge fan of but of course like said before my honey loves it so we tried it and it was absolutely delicious! I ended up eating it when he forgot it for lunch :p. O yes and the kicker they didn't give me ketchup. Hallelujah! I am not sure if the people that did not enjoy it had an off day or just have different taste but if u r from out of the area and having the same issues finding good Chinese come here! There may be better but im not wasting a buncha money trying to find it for now. I would not give this as many stars if it were back home in ca but in this area its great quality

This place was really awful! Instant rice, over-saturated dishes, and very poor service. Their menu descriptions are very lacking and you definitely are not ordering what you think you are. Do not go here!

This is by far my favorite Chinese restaurant I've been to in the Boise area. The only thing that's a little annoying is they are in a rather inconvenient location. I've been looking for an excuse to come back though! They have excellent sesame chicken with perfect sauce. Their fried rice is good too. Always very nice service. The atmosphere is a little drab but the food more than makes up for it. They aren't a fast food type of place though you might think so at first but they don't take very long to cook at all. Great place!

I would come here more if it wasn't so far. I love the generals chicken. And make your own combo meal is pretty awesome.

We moved here last year. Tried at least 8-10 so called Chinese restaurants and buffets. Guang Zhou might be a hole in the wall but it is the best we have found. Great good and good prices. The only Chinese place we go to now. Love it.

Who knew that this place by the Edwards theaters would be any good?! We got some curry noodles special, chow mein, and hot curry soup. Everything was great. Especially the off menu curry soup which is a recipe they brought from their sister restaurant, Yang Sheng on Milwaukee over by the mall. (Funny name since this used to be a satellite Yen Ching sister to the one downtown). There used to be a movie theater over there too. These owners know something about packaging Chinese food with movie time. I think there is a Phish song about this pairing. "Let's go out to dinner and see a movie" (sung x100 with various inflections). Almost forgot, and how could I, the pot stickers were made to order and were amazing. That ginger dipping sauce is sooo good. With Lucky Palace just down the street, Overland is now officially the epicenter of good Chinese in Boise.

My husband and I were in the mood for Chinese food after a week of camping in the backcountry so we turned to Yelp to help us find a good restaurant. Boasting a 4-star rating, we decided to try Guang Zhou which is located near the Edwards cinema. We had an address and a sign was located on Overland directing us into the parking lot. We drove the whole lot with no luck and ended up having to call to get directions. We finally arrived and saw the place was nearly empty (clue #1). At Guang Zhou, you order and pay at the counter then sit for service (clue #2). The only encouragement we had was a small sign saying, "This is not fast food. We make everything fresh." We ordered our food and found a table. My husband's won ton soup came out first. The broth was quite tasty but the won ton itself was a little underwhelming. Next came the entrees. The pecan chicken was decent at first but I just couldn't finish it as each bite I took, the taste worsened. My husband's egg foo young failed the test too. The star of the show, the egg, took a backseat to the vegetables. The pork fried rice and the steamed rices were dry and lacking flavor. We were about to leave when out came our potsticker appetizers. Seriously, I had forgotten we had ordered them. Again, I was disappointed. The potsticker meat was bland. Even pouring extra sauce on them didn't help. The dinner wasn't a comeplete disaster though. The iced tea and Pepsi were very refreshing and the refills were timely. We also did not over eat--which is better for our waistlines. All in all, it was a wasted $30 and without a doubt, the worst Chinese food we've ever eaten in our lives. Panda Express and mall food court Chinese is better than Guang Zhou. So, if you think Panda Express is stellar, you'll like Quang Zhou. For the rest of you who know what good Chinese food is supposed to taste like, don't waste your time or money. Sorry Quang Zhou. I don't like writing bad reviews but your food just did not do it for us.

We have been to this place twice now and really like it! Our favorite is the sweet and sour chicken! I also really like their pork fried rice. We will be back!

We Stopped for a quick bite before a movie and the staff was very polite, helpful and kept our drinks topped off! and the food was HOT fresh and we both liked it a lot! A simple fast food place and it is better that the wall menu looks. Try it and you will be coming back!

Eureka!! I have found actual Chinese people up here in the suburb boonies of Boise...haha. The place serves a variety of chicken, pork, veggies, beef, and rice dishes but think of the food like Panda Express. I couldn't tell if I was eating Sweet and Sour Shrimp or Sweet and Sour Chicken. They looked exactly the same, dripping with orange sweet sauce. The chef kept popping his head out of the window and he looked like my grandpa! Hello! Is this my other granpa I didn't know about? Decor is very clean and minimal. Don't get the free calendars they offer. The pages smell like diesel fumes and I bet it will linger on your fingers for days. Service is brisk and friendly and god knows why I bought a RockStar Energy Drink...it tastes like flat Mountain Dew with a touch of orange...at least I stopped yawning in my food.

Love the house chow mein. This place is a life-saver during my wife's unfortunate food aversions...first trimester. She craves the house fried rice and chow mein - and I'm happy to oblige!

This is my favorite resturant. I leave in easter Oregon and we drive to Boise just to have the general Tso chicken and the dry stir fried green beans, they are awesome. Highly recommend Guang Zhou for the food alone.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
