I love Balkans food, I've been there and know how good they are. I wish they had the authentic Bosnia food so I had the Goulač. Their store is great, they have Ajvar from Makedonski! The owners are very nice. Hvala!

This place is great! We went on a Thursday about 6 pm and did not have an issue finding a table. We shared the gyro and one of their other sandwiches. Both were great!

Impressed by the service and food. The House Panini was unlike any that I've had. It had turkey, prosciutto, lettuce, tomato, avocado, cheese, red pepper, and some homemade sauce nicely tucked between two slices of heavenly white bread. I'm not sure if the bake or buy the bread, but it was delicious and was what made this panini spectacular The staff kindly greeted me and made sure that I was being helped; I felt very welcome.

A hole-in-the-wall that turns out to be an outstanding sandwich shop that is also a store, a bar, and a lounge. I had the gyro sandwich and it was amazing. One of my buddies had the Turkey Bacon Avocado sandwich.. The turkey was super thick, about a half an inch thick! Everything was delicious and the service was friendly and prompt. Definitely going to be coming back!

First time visitor and I will be back! The house special panini paired with a Bosnian brew was perfect! Tons of flavor in the house special panini, melts in your mouth with awesomeness! Plus amazing customer service despite a slight language barrier. Super impressed with this sandwich shop, we felt at home and taken care of.

If you are looking for an amazing, fresh made to order sandwich please look no further. The Gyro is the best I've had in Boise, no question. Incredible food.

One of my favorite restaurants in Boise. Their beef and lamb gyro is to die for and their veggie panini is the best vegetarian sandwich I've ever had. The owners are so friendly and remember me each time I come in. I highly suggest grabbing a cockta or strawberry juice.

Met a co-worker here for lunch and we split the salad and I ordered the lamb & beef gyro and he ordered the house panini. WOW is all I can say, the food was so fresh and cooked perfectly. This will be my new lunch spot for sure. Also the inside is very cozy, and there is a great European market up front. Hope this place sticks around.

Best Bosnian food I've ever had! Great customer service and a relaxing atmosphere. Cute store attached where you can take home Bosnian candy and other little things. Absolutely love this place and the food.

I've never had a better panini. I asked the owner for his very best sandwich, and he recommended the special. Many others would have recommended something more expensive. I ordered two of the same and he had them ready in minutes. I was browsing in the small market and decided on some Turkish Coffee and some treats. The owner asked if I like that brand and I explained I've never had Turkish Coffee so I wasn't sure. He said he recommended another brand. He explained it was just as good, but less expensive. He was amazingly kind and helpful, not pushy at all, just wanted to be sure I got the very best value. That can be so rare these days. I don't use stars to rate the "style" of the place, I typically stick to the service and the food/drink.That being said, It's a simple place, yet the service is better than most extremely expensive, top end restaurants. We go to Boise from La Grande, almost monthly for to stock up on KImchi and other Korean foods. I will stop here(2 doors down) every single time from now on. Wow, I'm eating the second panini as I'm writing this(that's what reminded me). So flavorful, perfect firmness and a ton of meat. Do yourself a favor, go try this place

I went to Boex after reading reviews on Yelp about the fresh ingredients used in the food and the great service. And I found it to be perfectly accurate. I went with my little brother and we sat at a small part of the restaurant with wooden floor, wooden chairs and tables that look like the top lid of wooden barrels. The waitress greeted us with warm smiles and explained our questions about the menu. I ended up getting the beef goulash which was warm and absolutely delicious. My little brother tried the lamb and beef gyro and was supper surprised and excited at the high quality and the great taste of the meal. And the portion size of the gyro plate was so big that my brother had to take half of it to go. That's a pretty rare occasion. The cherry on top of this delicious experience is the fact that each dish only costs $7:50. I can't wait to try everything they have on the menu.

Fantastic late lunch at this sweet, little place! Portabella mushroom chicken panini was irresistible and an extra side salad was very fresh and good! They serve wine, beer, and a full bar. Sparkling clean, wonderful caring owners! We will come back to revisit this little gem!

First, you have to know these guys probably have the most friendly service in Boise. Every single time I go in I am excited because I know I'm going to be treated really well and have a delicious, affordable gyro. The only thing that I'd improve on is the Tzatziki sauce (spelling?). It's a bit plain tasting, but the meat is really good and tender and more than makes up for it. Their other panini is quite good as well. Overall an excellent choice if you're feeling like a killer sandwich.

Very good menu! Excellent service! A great place to have lunch. Menu has a lot of choices and made it hard to select... Will have to come back to try more. Thanks!

The Bosnia Express is a delightfully surprising place. My hubby ended up there for lunch one day...and for days after...I heard about this desert panini made with "Eurocrem" (he'd stopped in their grocery store and picked up a tub of this "Eurocrem" hazelnut spread that puts Nutella to shame). So after about 3 weeks, I finally made it in. The owners are like sunshine...they are warm and friendly and don't mind explaining anything...for which in their grocery store, so many things await. I think they have two aisles of hazelnut deserts. My husband left with full arms...it was sorta of amusing to observe. Like a big 12-year-old...with fancy deserts to sample. Store is very very clean...something always appreciated. Other fun items: packages of turkish-style coffee grounds, turkish coffee prep goods. As for the restaurant. Hubby had a lamb gyro. Delightful lamb. I had a salad - that was very generous, very fresh, and contained better-than-average lettuce, lots of feta, and very plump olives (please note this was what made this a 5 star experience). I also noticed a review below about the salad - so apparently the owners read the reviews - kudos to them. Their ice tea was also very pleasant. Some black tea blend (maybe with the tiniest of bergamot action?). Served in a nice big glass and well brewed. And to that desert panini. It is something worth talking about after the experience! I am even thinking about it now. Even the bread is different - and tasty. Prices are very affordable. They have a little outdoor patio too - complete with bright, new furniture. There is smoking on the patio - if I had one thing to note...that would be it...but I am sure it's a well appreciated feature for some customers.

It's been a while since I came here, but I got the roast beef panini and a strawberry salad. One of the best paninis I have ever had by far, but the salad could have used more than 1 strawberry cut into 4 pieces. That's the only reason I didn't give this a 5 star rating. I am going to try to come back in soon.

If you haven't been.. you are missing out... What could put the cherry on top of a great lunch.. but an American flag in a Bosnian sandwich??? How cool and proud to be in the USA.. Very hospitable.. Nice interior.. Clean.. Fast. Fun grocery store attached..Husband and I are seniors.. try and eat light.. Shared a pannani sandwich.. Server went one step better and divided it up on two plates.. two dessert treats.. Our third visit.. Not our last..

There is one BIG problem with this restaurant... if you only see the sign and front of the building without going inside you would think it was a spooky dive.. this is not the case at all. Inside the strip mall, store front lives an amazing mini grocery store and behind that a MASSIVE night club type area with tables. It is a little strange, but "wacky cool". But what really matters is the food.. and the food here is amazing. It is a very small menu, but something for everyone including a vegetarian sandwich if that is your thing. The sandwiches are served on fresh, home-made bread and are stacked with high quality meat and vegetables. The beef gyro melts in your mouth. I should point out that these sandwiches are MASSIVE, way more then one person will ever need to eat and are in the 5-6 dollar range. Brave the spooky storefront and try it out.. you will not regret it.

  • Nick N.

What an exceptional and hospitable place this is, a true gem for Boise Idaho. It might look small from the front but don't be fooled by its size, it has more Austrian and Swiss chocolate selection then any place I have ever seen. Their gyro was the best I have ever had, and I have had them in Istanbul Turkey and Athens Greece. Anyway I can't remember who the gentleman was but if I could rate this please 10 stars I would, and if I ever have the opportunity to come to Boise, Boex will be the first place I visit.

This place has excellent food and the nicest people. The sandwiches are huge and delicious. They bake their bread fresh and it is tasty.

  • Tinka T.

Awesome place!! The owners are always very friendly & hospitable, the food is sooo good. They have this European grocery store next door & if it is even possible that you are looking for something that they don't have they will try and get it for you

    (5)
  • Andrew H.

They provide Andie's mints to complete the meal.

    (5)
  • Jim S.

My wife and I had lunch there the other day. I had a Paninni and she had a Gyro. The food was excellent and the Turkish coffee quite tasty. The help is very friendly and attentive. If you're a soccer fan you'll enjoy the two big screen tv's that have soccer games running on them. They have a small market in front with all sorts of European cookies, crackers and other dry goods that is fun to browse through before you go,

  • alex n.

Can't wait to go back. I wanted the goulash which was on the menu, but they didn't have it. Apparently it's only an occasional dish. The gyro was great and plenty big. Had a very authentic Central European feel.

    (4)
  • Thomas W.

Very friendly place. I haven't had a gyro in years so I didn't have much to compare it in terms of other gyros, but it was delicious and for only 6.50 for a gyro and plate of fries it was a great deal and was very filling.

    (5)
  • Emma M.

BoEx makes an awesome gyros served on a fresh home pita-type bun. The people are very friendly and there is a nice little mini grocery there. I bought some of their homemade bread to take home. The atmosphere of the restaurant is a little different since it is part of a night club, but I still enjoyed eating there. I will definitely go back to try some of their other sandwiches.

  • Nick D.

This place just goes to show that you shouldnt judge a book by its cover. Although this place looks like a dive from the outside, you will be thoroughly surprised with the decor inside. I got the gyro sandwich and french fries, and was happy with my selection. Also, they have Kinder bars in the market, which i have not been able to find in many other places in the states. Definitely check this place out for a casual lunch.

  • Eli M.

In addition to the grocery, which have European brands specifically from Bosnia (BoEx stands for: Bosnia Express), Boex also serves Gyro in a Donner Kebab style: Meat (a mix of beef and lamb) with lettuce tomato and yogurt sauce between two pieces of wonderful fluffy bread. This is pretty much the only thing on the menu (They have a couple of sandwiches I haven't tried), but it's so good it justifies the shady atmosphere and the lack of staff - everything is done by the owners. The do make very good strawberry and banana shakes. Highly recommended and ridiculously cheep.

    (4)
  • S. S.

OK, Sandwiches are awesome. I got the special, which was a grilled sandwich (on their own freshly baked bread mind you -which you can buy in the market) loaded with good ham and. . .prociutto...for only 4.90! left happy and full. They also have turkish coffee and gyros that seem to be equally satisfying; however, even if you don't enjoy the food, the atmoshpere is work the 5 bucks and thensome (can you say 'witness relocation program?') a must for anybody lookin' for a good lunch at a great price.

I'm in love. I love ethnic food and I was so happy to find this gem via Yelp. I have passed it often on my way to the dog park at Morris Hill and didn't give it much though. It's in a strip mall and I was judging a book by it's cover. (btw this strip mall also houses the fantastic Chaing Mai Thai resto and Wok Inn Noodle - which blows my mind. Anyway, back to Boex. I had the Special Panini and husband had the Beef and Lamb Gyro. Each was $6.50 and we didn't need both! We easily could have shared either, they were so big! The Special Panini has pastrami, prosciutto and ham, 2 cheeses, lettuce, carrots and sweet peppers. It was fanstastic. The Gyro had beef and lamp gryo meat, lettuce, carrots and tzatziki. Also fantastic. The chef who I think it also the owner was very kind, explained the menu to us and quickly made our food, which we took to go. We bought Cockla, a version of Coca-Cola from the small grocery in the front. I liked it - tasted like Vanilla Coke. I also loved that at the grocery they have Mikla chocolate and Kinder chocolate - both of which I have not seen since I left Canada 3 years ago- very happy to have a source here in Boise! Loved it - will be back!

Found this place on yelp for some lunchtime sandwiches. It was AMAZING! I'll just say right off the bat that these were some out of this world sandwiches. We had the gyro and the "special" sandwich, which was like a club sandwich with avocado and tons of yummy meat and vegetables. They were seriously good. Served on some crazy light and fresh bread that they bake themselves. And they were huge! We both only ate half our sandwiches and ate the other halves later. The rest of the experience was fun as well! It's like walking into a scene from The Godfather--it's in this weird little strip mall, and there were a bunch of old Eastern European-looking men hanging around outside chain smoking. The inside was playing some weird European TV sports channel. It looks like it might turn into a night club...? There's a bar, a dance floor/stage area, and disco balls and strobe lights, so it might get pretty interesting at night. Our service was awesome! Waitress was super nice and helpful and fast and was even managing the European grocery store up front at the same time. A nice man made and brought our sandwiches to us. It was great. Can't wait to go back!

Living in Boise, this is one of the city's unique culinary experiences. Every meal we have had, sandwiches included, have been A+. Service is as personable as it can be. It is one place we always bring out of town guests.

Only came in to grab some lunch, but did browse around the store to see what they sell. The owner (I think, or maybe it was the owner's wife) was nice and had the I'm-not-afraid-to-kick-you-out-of-the-store-if-i-want-to personality, it seems. Got their house panini which was loaded a lot of different meats. Prosciutto, pastrami, salami and I think a couple more. With some avocado, cheese, tomato, bell pepper, lettuce. Big portion, good bread. Really worth what you're paying for. Store seems like a very 80's type store. Not that it was themed that way, just not updated, but cute and small town feel.

I am so thankful to have found this restaurant on Yelp. We would have never noticed it otherwise. A charming storefront, nicely kept restaurant, excellent house special paninis and great service. We will definitely be back!

This place rocks my gyro-loving socks. Came here for takeout and could have easily lost myself completely in the market (kinder eggs! kinder eggs! And, milka! Shut UP!). Ordered their chicken gyro which was, at minimum, 15 separate shades of delicious. Absolutely scrumptious and truly representative of what a good gyro should be (packed full of fresh ingredients and feta...and a steal at $6.50...yes, please!). I was also able to pick up a nice bottle of Malbec from their more than decent wine selection. We were helped by one of the owners who was personable and lovely in every way. Nowhere near my 'hood--no matter, I'll be back...and often. Get to it!

  • Frank A.

OK. This places is a hidden gem. Tucked in behind an unassuming European market, the savvy foodie will find the best Gyros around. They also have great German sausage sandwiches and a beer called Jelen. The food is excellent, the service is friendly, and oh yeah, Jelen said your wife called to say that you should stop in for a bite and a brew. Why would I lie?

    (4)
  • Mike S.

Sooooo good. Ruben is my personal favorite. Always fast fresh and tasty. Owners are a delight. Great wine selection. Full bar. Sandwiches are huge, and decently priced. Close a little early for dinner, but perfect for lunch. I'm hooked.

  • R G.

What a sweet find! This place triples as a panini making treasure, European candy store, and (by the looks the disco lights and DJ corner) a night club rage spot. We stopped in for the paninis though and all five of us walked way describing our food as the best we have had in awhile. The people who work here put together an incredible and massive sandwich. I wasn't super hungry when I got here but I ate it all because my panini was so good. You should definitely stop here if you're in a mood for a good lunch!

    (4)
  • Megan B.

Just went to Bosnia Express for the first time today and let me tell you, my boyfriend and I were blow away by the amazing service and equally amazing paninis we had!!! The people were SO nice and the panini was delicious!!!! Great prices and really amazing food. I've lived in Boise for 8 years and feel like I have been seriously missing out by only discovering BoEx now.. Absolutely a must if you have never been!!

When I think about lunch here the following 4 words come to mind "Oh nom nom nom". Ok, now that I think about it those are more sounds than words but who cares! Thanks to yelp I found this place while in Boise. From the outside you think this place is going to be small but it is HUGE on the inside. I think it might be a TARDIS. The owners were both extremely nice and made my food very fast. I ordered a Beef and Lamb Gyro and a Nutella Panini. The gyro was very good and the meat extremely tender. Oh ya, and it was HUGE. I only ate half before getting full. The Panini I had for dessert was extremely good. It had Nutella, bananas, and strawberries and was full of win. So far this is my favorite place I have found in Boise and if work brings me back to Boise I will be sure to stop here for lunch again!

  • Aaron S.

Thank you Yelpers! I was in Boise and looking for a good sandwich place and this restaurant had the highest reviews, and for a good reason. I think we got there as they were opening for the day because no one was there when we entered, by the time we left it was starting to get packed. I ordered the gyro, which came out promptly. I'm no gyro expert, but I am a flavor expert and the flavors in my gyro were perfect. Well seasoned meat, delicious and fresh produce/pita bread. The owners were nice as well. There is a reason it has so many good reviews on Yelp, so stop second guessing this place and TRY IT OUT!!!

    (4)
  • Holly S.

Best Gyro I've had in a long time. The Panini was excellent, too! The sandwiches are large and we could barely finish them. The atmosphere is fun - not at all what you would expect from the front of the building when you drive in. I highly recommend this place if you love sandwiches at a great price.

  • Brian H.

Yet another great ethnic place on the Bench. Small eastern European market in the front, bar/restaurant in the back. I just tell someone up front what I want to eat and they go make it themselves or tell someone else to (they'll bring a menu to you if you need one). Very nice and accommodating owner & wife. The menu has pretty much consisted of paninis and gyros (all with homemade bread) though they've recently branched out into reubens and German sausage sandwiches. They pack in quite a few ingredients compared to other places that sell paninis (see pic). The gyros are slightly different compared to other places that sell them but offer better value at $6.50, which are the same price as paninis. Even those with bigger stomachs should be satiated with an entire one. I wish they (and others) would offer a lamb gyro instead of having to settle for a beef/lamb combo meat. With the amount of meat they jam into their sandwiches, it would still be a good comparative value despite it inevitably having to cost more than the other options. Minor quibbles: for lettuce they use cheap iceberg salad mix with cabbage and carrots. While I prefer having lettuce I have to pick through my sandwich before I eat it because I almost always find lettuce pieces that aren't fresh and have turned color. 3-packs of romaine lettuce hearts hover a little above $2 at Winco, so there's room for improvement without having to pay too much extra. And a generic warning with all of the ethnic markets regarding checking the expiration date on everything you purchase. I've found an improvement with Bo-Ex in the past couple of years regarding this, but it doesn't hurt to double check before you give them your $. The groceries I buy there (usually chocolate like Milka or Ritter or Kinder) are either unavailable elsewhere or competitively priced compared to their competitors (i.e. Cost Plus, Irena's).

  • Jeremy M.

WOW! I have been searching for this delicious of a sandwich for a long time. I was shocked at the prices and the flavors offered. 2 sandwiches and a beer for under $22. We had leftovers. The sandwich was huge!!! TOP 5 sandwiches for me.

My husband and I stopped in here for lunch in Boise. We were actually heading for Tango's but for some reason it was closed. It worked out well though because this hidden gem was excellent. The storefront is deceiving, it is small and looks like the front of a convenience store. However once inside, the hallway opens up to a giant room with all kinds of European wine. There is a projector inside, that was playing soccer, and a bar and if you keep going there is a pool table and some arcade games. The staff that works here, one of which I believe to be the owner, are incredibly nice and friendly. The man who we guessed to be the owner came outside to where we were sitting to chat with us about the menu. My husband chose the club and I got the beef gyro. The food is outstanding! These sandwiches were full of great meat, crisp veggies and excellent sauce. The owner told us that he makes the bread fresh every morning and boy was it awesome! The sandwiches are a total steal as well, especially for the quality. If ever we happen through Boise again, we will skip Tango's intentionally to eat lunch at Boex!

  • Jack K.

I am on love with all the food here. Only downside is it feels like eating in their living room a little awkward but delicious.

    (5)
  • Joseph P.

They were out of lamb and beef. Who runs out of lamb and beef gyros? So we ordered the chicken gyro sandwich, because the previous reviews were all 5 stars. Fabulous bread but chicken was microwaved and sauce was bland. Service was nice. I was hoping for a dive bar gem, but all we found was a dive.

    (1)
  • Anthony M.

Pretty dang good. Good Gyros, still not a fan of Bosnian Beer, but to each is own. I like the place though. Service decent, nothing special.

  • Colleen P.

Thank goodness for yelp - otherwise we'd have no way to find great (hidden) places like this. We stopped in for lunch. I had the house special panini and my kids split a turkey and cheese panini. Despite the fact that we had way too much food (sandwiches are ample sized), we also ordered a nuttella/banana/strawberry panini for desert. I mean, how can you go wrong with those ingredients on homemade bread? I'll reiterate what other posters have said - our server, who I will also assume is the owner was wonderful, sweet, and plenty attentive. Probably the best sandwich I've had in Boise. Will def go back with the hubby!

    (5)
  • Ryan V.

I would give the express 4 1/2 stars (because it's not very fast). But for the main restaurant, it seemed dated. It's kinda of a hodge podge of couches, bar, mini-cafe style. Maybe that's the Eastern European style. The gyro was great. Never have had it on panini-like bread. I wouldn't go as far as saying it's the best I have ever had - but it's solid for $6

  • George G.

Amazing!!! Me and my girlfriend stopped here while shopping for furniture in the neighborhood and couldn't believe how amazing the food and experience were. First the place is somewhat hidden in a shopping center near couple other restaurants so it is somewhat tough to find if you are not specifically looking for it. When we came in the owner was incredible nice and the service was amazing. I ordered the beef and lamb gyro and my gf ordered the house panini special. I also ordered a Montenegro import beer Niksicko and my gf ordered a Turkish coffee. I must say that everything we had was just amazing. The bread for both was fresh and all the ingredients in the sandwiches were very good and I feel they truly put some love into making their food. Both sandwiches were $6.50 each and they were quiet large, enough to feed us for both lunch and dinner. I highly recommend this place and plan to become a regular!

  • Bobby C.

Delicious gyro, skip the Pepsi products and get the pink lemonade. The chicken sandwich was also great. It has bacon. Bacon and chicken? Yes. Looks like it's set up for a nightlife too.

  • Aaron E.

The house special panini was absolutely amazing. The service was also very prompt and polite. Great value!

All five stars deserved and given! Best gyro on the planet. Try one with a Croatian beer called Karlovacko. The perfect combination of sandwhichy goodness and pilsnery perfection.

    (5)
  • Jason M.

The best Gyro in town, at a price you can't beat. Unorthodox beer and wine (for Boise), prompt, friendly service, plus a free pool table. Nice little gem in the "International District".

  • Neal R.

This place has amazing authentic food and very kind owners!!! When we walked in and heard people speaking Bosnian, we knew it was going to be good. The bread for all their sandwiches is freshly made and the meat is very tender and hot. On top of this, the tab doesn't break the bank! We'll definitely be back whenever we pass through Boise.

    (5)
  • Mike S.

FANTASTIC FOOD! The bread was the most amazing part. I went to lunch with several friends from work and they each ordered the Goulash and I ordered the Gyro. None of us were disappointed. The food was so good! The bread was fresh about the best I've ever eaten. I really enjoyed my Gyro (it was freshly sliced, none of the pre-made, pre-sliced stuff at the fairs!). The atmosphere was fun with the store in the front and a dance hall in the back. The owners are super nice and fun to talk with. Try it!! You'll like it :)

  • Kapono L.

All I can say is wow... when you first walk up to the store front you wouldn't imagine the treat you are in for. I was suprised to see that the back opened up to a full blown restaurant... the menu is small but they do it right! Big portions, low cost, and friendly staff/owners equals a happy customer. I got my order in minutes, which was great cause I was hungry...you won't be disappointed! 10 outta 10!

Just had one of the best Gyro sammiches in my life. The bread was so fresh. The place had a nice feel to it, go check it out!

Had the gyro and my husband had the special panini. It was all so good and cheap! The Turkish coffee was also amazing. We will be going back!

Greek Cuisine

Greek food is a fine melody of the finest pressed olive oil, fresh fermented bread, colorful vegetables, juicy meat, sea food all cooked in spices and fresh rosemary. The people from Greek were great scholars who aimed to excel in everything they do. The results are quite visible in their food as they are the inventors of olive oil which is beneficial to health.
