Visiting from San Francisco, I happened across this place by accident. I tried a chocolate peanut butter cupcake which was pretty solid, but the real different thing I tried was the blue curacao cupcake, which wasn't the most pleasant color in appearance, but it was dense (it was unusally heavy, for it's size!) and intensely delicious. The cake was blue curacao, the filling was pinapple, and the frosting was coconut rum with toasted coconuts. Very innovative. I'd try this place again if I'm every in Idaho again. Which is unlikely.

Putting Boise's Cupcake Specialty Shops To The Test Thanks, in large part, to the steady popularity of food-themed media, Americans are quick to become infatuated with the food fad of the day. As we allow these trends to be fed to us, many cities across the nation will inevitably experience a surge in businesses capitalizing on whatever these food crushes happen to be. Rarely, however, do many of those eateries survive in the long-term, because after all, our appetites become satisfied. Yet appetites are insatiable, and the talking heads of television are happy to let us know what we should be eating next. The passing fancy of cupcakes notwithstanding. Every once in a while, a good eatery goes the distance. In Boise's case, there are three specialty shops that still boast cupcakes as the main attraction. The mission: to predict which of these businesses will continue to be prosperous and which of them (if any) are on the road to self-destruction. As an overview, what I found is that two of the three shops should, in the very least, be able to remain popular among die-hard cupcake fans. But one of them... well, I'll be surprised if they're still open in the next 12 months. The contenders were graded based on the cupcakes (taste, presentation, and texture), counter service, and store atmosphere. Here are the results for this business: A Cupcake Paradise When you step inside, you'll observe that a feeling of the islands is attempted here. And after experiencing counter service and tasting the cupcakes, you'll know where this shop is actually going. Downhill and quickly is the vibe. There's no congruency between the decor and everything else. The selection is void of any cupcakes to write home about. The enthusiasm from the employee at the counter is barely noticeable. The frosting is sweet to the point of repulsion. What is supposed to be a cream cheese frosting tastes more like a box of confectioner's sugar with a hint of cream cheese flavor. The frosting on the cake that I ate had formed a thin shell from prolonged exposure to air, a sure sign that the fat content to sugar ratio is off balance. The cake itself is dryer than the drive between Mountain Home and Burley. Overall, this shop gets one star for at least making the effort of conveying some sense of an open ocean appeal. Aaaand... yeah, that's it. --- Want to see how the other two cupcake specialty shops stacked up? Here are the links to those reviews... Wow!!!! I have tried other local cupcake shops and they were less than perfect, stale, hard, dry cupcakes. Not the case here, these are AMAZING!! So moist and fresh, I am a fan, look out fat pants, here I come!!

Small shop and super small selection of cupcakes, and the ones they did have weren't anything out of the norm or exciting.

We walked in and checked out the offerings. There were maybe 8 or 9 different cupcakes available and none of them looked really unique or exciting (first disappointment....I expected a large selection of unique cupcakes.) We paid $10+ for three little cupcakes. I had the peanut butter cup cupcake. The cake portion of the cupcake was dry and had very little flavor. The chocolate icing was sour and I couldn't even eat more than a couple of bites. How do you go wrong with a peanut butter cup cupcake?! I was extremely disappointed. A delicious, unique cupcake is worth $3. But these cupcakes were neither delicious nor unique. My companions' cupcakes got ho-hum reactions, but seemed to at least taste OK, unlike the peanut butter cup cupcake. Overall, we felt unsatisfied and overcharged.

Absolutely delicious! Excellent service. Amazing variety of flavors. And the cupcakes were still moist and delicious a few days later.

Some cupcakes shops have really pretty cupcakes but they taste just ok. These cupcakes are pretty but simple but the flavor is amazing. Best Ive ever had!!! And I've had a LOT of cupcakes. Had the peanut butter cup....might go back for another right now

Good cupcakes for the price. The presentation or flavors are not super artful or cutting edge. Not much flair here.

Small shop, great service...had several selections early on a weekday. Tried the Tiger Tale and salted caramel, both were tasty but I give the nod to the tiger tale with it's coconut-raspberry goodness. The raspberry filling even had seeds...they aren't messing around with some grocery store jam (well, if they are they are using the good stuff!). All I know is that my husband wants to try the doughffin...I mean what part of a doughnut mating with a muffin can't be a blissful union?!

Class-A cupcakes. I had the salted caramel and it was incredibly good. Very friendly service. Prices are cheaper compared to a few other places around town. Lots of different flavors check out their website.
