Used to eat here when going to college. It's the same thing as perko's in ca. but in the midwest they are called perkin's

This seems to be a very subpar Perkins. Everything is bland. That's all I have to say about that.

Average Denny's type of food (if you're from the West Coast). Thought it would be better. My veggie omelette was too cheesy, and my fiance's "mahvelous monty" was not so marvelous at all. Not bad, just not anything to rave about. Plus, my fiance felt pretty sick afterwards. Their bakery looks good, though!

It was ten till 9 when I got there so some of the features of my visit could be forgiven. I took my seat and ordered the cod dish with fries and with green beans and bacon. It arrived within what seemed like less than 5 minutes of my having ordered. This always disturbs me slightly, I am fond of efficiency, but this tends to leave me with the impression that the meal was prepared rather hastily. Indeed within less than a minute of my meal arriving, my check also appeared on the table. For me this says: "Eat your meal and leave- don't even think about ordering a desert because we're ready to go home." It was still only 9 o'clock which was indeed late but not tremendously so. The fries were average, the cod was quite good and well cooked, but the green beans were rather bitter and clearly from a can (what did I expect?- you might ask). I placed my credit card on the table having finished this forgettable meal and waited five minutes before realizing I would have to venture to the cash register to settle up. The waiter had passed a couple of times and might have alerted me to this with a bit more observation. He was politely spoken and efficient, yet there was a slight lingering smell of cigarette smoke when he breezed past quickly. This might be forgiven, after all...well I was going to make a pejorative remark about having to live in Coralville- but I will refrain from this, as I am not prejudiced against small towns. The restaurant was very clean and well lit I must add for the sake of fairness.

We went in for a brunch after waking up late. The food was decent, typical Perkins food. Our waiter on the other hand was fantastic. Charles was his name and if we ever eat there again we will be requesting him.

You'd think that location, location, location is what makes this Perkins successful. Well it does. If you put this place or any other place in the middle of a cornfield then I'd doubt that anyone would show up. But with that said, this place is a primo Perkins. Great staff, timely delivery, nice parking, and great food made to corporate expectations. How can you screw up breakfast? Really? Well you can't too bad. But Perkins makes breakfast good any time of the day. So enjoy! I know I did and will again.

I really enjoyed the food here. We came to Iowa to visit my nephew in the infant ICU, and one of the first things on our minds, after seeing him, was food. I ordered fried fish and shrimp, and I cleaned the plate. My wife ordered grilled Tuscan chicken, and she made a hand too!!! Mom had soup, and she was happy with it. We took dad a big BLT, and there were no complains from him. I like that when you order coffee they bring you a whole carafe, which is great because the coffee is perfect.

For breakfast it's a 4 for me, they are of consistent good quality and has a good selection with value. Not too pricey and very generous with portions as well side offerings. I like the banana walnut multigrain pancakes, I get over easy eggs and bacon with it. They have three syrups, maple, a berry, and a sweet flavor kinda apricot maybe? They have a bake shop that is also 4 stars, gotta love pie! The entrees I have had were 3-3.5ish. They are okay but I usually stick to breakfast and desert here.

This place probably only warrants 3 stars. But my nostalgia for Perkins, since there are none near where I live, bumps it up. 24 hours, breakfast all day, fresh baked goods. We stopped here post-wedding reception. I wanted bacon and eggs. That's what I got, and hash browns and pancakes too. The bacon was perfect and the eggs over easy. I was happy. I miss having a Perkins nearby.

A regular Perkins. The ceiling tiles were old and dirty, but the tables seemed clean. We were there with a group of 12, and it was about 20min between the first person getting there food and the last. They felt bad so they took 20% off the bill without anyone complaining. It was nice to see the wait staff cared enough to give us a discount.

Typical, dependable Perkins food but the best service I got in a restaurant during our stay in Iowa City. I have to give our waitress last night 4 stars! (sorry forgot your name) Thank god for Perkins, the food and coffee fueled our 3.5 hour drive back to Chicago last night. Everyplace else seemed to be closed.

This is my favorite Perkins to visit. The food is typical but the service exceeds my expectations. It is GREAT to see some of the same waiters or waitresses when I visit. I am extremely fond of the salmon selections. The place is usually always open with very little wait times. A GREAT place to meet with friends who are out of town considering it is right off of I-80 exit 242.

First, NEVER coming to any Perkins EVER again. There was a line to be seated and it wasn't even busy. Pretty much everyone that worked there either seemed like they didn't give a shit or you were annoying them. When ordering, I got the Belgian Waffle platter- he asked me what kind of potatoes I wanted. Come to find out, it doesn't come with potatoes- so he didn't know the menu. I had to ask, obviously, a different girl about it since he never came back to our table. Our server never brought us refills. When he dropped the food, he didn't ask us if we needed anything else. Found a hair in my eggs- ''I'll have them make you a new one'' ....why would I want a new one? My appetite was totally gone after that. They didn't offer me any sort of discount or anything off my bill. THAT IS GROSS!!!!!! The other person with me- didn't offer her any boxes, even though over half her food was still left. and He just dropped off the check and said have a good day. So when I went to back for my bill, I had told the associate manager what had happened with the hair- he didn't even apologize!!!!! As a manager, what the hell?? I have worked in many restaurants. this place, by far, has had the worst customer service I've ever experienced. I'm appalled honestly.

Really the only time you should go is when you are looking for a quick breakfast after a night of hard drinking. Trying it in the daylight for a regular meal is like the walk of shame, everything looks horrible, and you really should know better.

So I'm stuck in Iowa on business, its late and I'm hungry and I see a Perkins and I think to myself "wow its been awhile since I've been to one of these" so I stop. Note to self....next time, keep driving. The apricot glazed salmon with "grilled" asparagus was beyond gross. It actually couldn"t be cut with a fork. The service (server named Michael)was by far the worst service I've ever had. I will never visit another Perkins again

When I think 'sit-down breakfast', my mind is usually set on IHOP, Elly's, or my favorite: Waffle House. But yesterday, I went to Perkin's with my mother's side of the family before leaving Iowa. It was great; definitely better than IHOP and had the best pancakes I've ever had the pleasure of enjoying. Their Southern Chicken Biscuit Platter was also very good (I got the pancakes on the side). Come hungry, because they serve big portions!

I came in for breakfast with my boyfriend after a night out. I usually hate Perkins but I gotta say, this one is soooo much better than the others. Clean, nice and well staffed. The manager sat us right away, we were well taken care of and the food was surprisingly tasty and came out quickly.
