So here I am writing another 5 star review. This happens, of course, because I only choose 5 star places! This place deserves the stars - great food, attentive service, and ambiance in a stripmall location! Chef (owner, purveyor, maitre d, waiter, etc.) David is so pleasant. What a nice treat to walk in, sit down, and tell a chef what you want to eat, rather than a 16 year old waitress that doesn't know a truffle from a peppercorn. Granted, the menu contained all of four entrees (as david explained he's travelling to Paris next week and is not "stocked up" as he normally would be) it did contain what I came for - the filet mignon. The steak was very good. Well prepared with a nice sear, and perfect medium rare temp. This is the house's temp, and was presumed rather than asked. I have a feeling that, if you like it well done, you're in for a fight. The pommes de terre were yummy. I can still smell the buttery, carmelly scent... Thats probably because chef is preparing another batch now for another plate. I've had it before where a bartender offers the remainder of a shaker that didnt fit in the glass - usually some signature drink. This was the first time I'd seen a Chef come from the kitchen with "extra" potatoes that ended up on my plate. I have to say that I agree, they are just too good to put in the waste hopper. Appreciate the open kitchen. Not only do I appreciate local food - good to know where your food comes from - but also like to see the preparation. Creme brulee - very good, traditional preparation. Probably not world's best, but pretty kick ass for iowa. All in all a great experience for my $75 (including one glass of wine, and coffee with dessert). Truthfully, I'm gonna expense the meal anyway, but well worth the bucks.
We really wanted to love this place - it's a family business, where the chef does everything; he both prepares and serves the food. We went there for a special occassion and did a tasting menu. While some of the dishes were quite good, overall it was disappointing and not worth the price. Our meal cost $400+ with wine. We are used to dropping $500 for dinners in Chicago, Bay Area, and are willing to do that for excellent and innovative food, which this wasn't, on the whole. We had foie gras with pear as the starter, and it was truly very well-prepared. The next dish was a filet mignon with pommes de terre. The presentation was lacking, but both were good. Then, here's when things went south. The next course came out ... and it was exactly the same presentation as the previous dish: pommes de terre, this time with steak au poivre. Nothing else on the plate. We honestly didn't even finish this because it felt like nearly the same dish twice and was only so-so. Last came creme brulee - it was good, though what you'd expect at this level/price point. We also ordered a bottle of wine - it was just meh. Wanting to understand why Chef David would serve two very similar dishes in order in a 4 course tasting menu, we asked him about the second meat/potatoes dish and why he didn't include something else - a vegetable perhaps. His explanation was that Iowans don't eat vegetables. This struck me as an odd rationale for the lack of inventiveness while providing a tasting menu. I do think this place could be really good with just a willingness to innovate a little more, and also bring prices more in line with the value of the food / experience.
What an amazing place. The food was incredible, the ambience took you from Iowa to France in an instant. My wife & I came across this place by Yelp. The rave reviews were right. The salad had all sorts of flavors, and wonderful tastes. My Filet was extraordinary, the sauce mixed well with the peppercorns and made for an unforgettable meal. The Creme Brûlée was to die for. All in all a meal we both will remember for a long time. To think it is located in a strip mall, next to a Falafel house is ironic. Can not say enough about the food. It is worth the cost.

Finally, coffee made right in the Iowa City area! When I first moved to Iowa City, the lack of (good) local coffee roasters left me nervous that I wouldn't find well-brewed coffee either. But, the Waterstreet Coffee Bar does an awesome job of connecting with excellent, small-batch coffee roasters and has really mastered the atmosphere. The only thing that would make this place better is if they start roasting their own beans, because with the amount of attention they're paying to the brew process, I'm certain they'd dedicate just as much attention to the roasting process and would finally give Iowa City a claim to fame on the coffee map.
I moved to the Iowa River Landing recently and decided to check out Waterstreet Coffee Bar. The reviews were great on Yelp and I had high expectations walking in mid morning on a Saturday. I told the barista I had never been there before and asked what he recommended. After asking me what I liked (lattes, not super sweet), he recommended the maple latte with half the flavor. It was delicious and just what I was looking for. You could tell it was a high quality product. I'll be back again for a great product and quality service. It was also a great place to get some work done. The wifi was reliable and the ambiance was comfortable. Perfect for getting a few hours of work done.
Great little cafe! The coffee wizards behind the bar made me a great Gibraltar even though it isn't on their menu, and were happy to chat with me about what else there was to check out locally. Prices were fair and service exceptional. I'd be back if I lived nearby!

AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE AND PIZZA. We had an extra added to a specialty pizza and they forgot to put it on there. We asked them to just put it on there and stick it back in the oven for a couple of minutes. Well they forgot about it and the pizza was totally burnt. They were extremely accommodating. They gave us free cheese bread and priced our large at a medium style. The pizza was great when we got it home too.
Ben's Other is a family favorite. Try it you won't be disappointed. Sometimes we add sausage and mushrooms for a added bonus.
Friendly staff. The pizza smelled amazing. The sausage and green olive I ordered was very good. I will say the sauce wasn't up to par with the toppings and crust. So far this is my 2nd favorite pizza.

Just because it's a vegan cookie, doesn't mean it can't knock your socks off. Thoughts to self when purchasing a vegan cookie: "Oh, Brittany, you're so good - look at you making sacrifices of flavor for your health. 5 stars for you. Gold sticker." Little did I know I was about to consume one of the tastiest cookies I've ever encountered (it was the vegan chocolate chip cookie, in case you're wondering). Apparently traditional butter is not necessary to make a wicked tasty cookie. Not one, but two on-the-go visits during my 36 hour stay in Iowa City! How could I resist your fresh and healthy carry out options, friendly checkout crew and baked goods that left me drooling? Final notes: they have veggie spring rolls, pickled beets, kale salad, tofu curry salad and more in the deli section. Enjoy!
I love it here! Totally polar-opposite experience from my visits to the Iowa City location! Let's start with the wine, because a good food experience often starts and ends there anyway. The wine selection is organized by wine type (much less confusing than shopping by region in my opinion). Prices range from $8 bottles to $40, with a well-balanced selection of reds, whites, and several organic options. The bulk foods section is well-diversified but often tricky to find what you want... ahem, those elusive dark chocolate covered almonds. The bakery selection is spectacular, while the produce and grocery sections are average. My only gripe is the selection of local products. It'd be great if the buyer focused more on sourcing some local options for things like kombucha, hand soaps, candles, wine, beer, bread, essential oils, simple syrups, etc.
I've been a vegan for a year and while this place sells a lot of dry goods and refrigerated items that I can get at various locations in the Quad Cities, I tend to come here for 3 things: Coffee (Just Coffee Co-Op), baked goods and bulk chocolate chips. I'm writing this review for one reason only. This place has the best fresh-baked treats I've had in the past year. I've tried cupcakes at a couple places near here, and they always fall flat. I've gotten slices of vegan cake when we visit Whole Foods in the Chicago area. Could be better. But the slices of cake at New Pioneer. Oh my. This is a big deal for me. I'm not much of a cook and my recipes tend to fall short, so I'm always searching for the perfect vegan version of the foods I love. I feel like I've finally found the cake I've been looking for. If they can start making donuts, my life would be complete. This place is great, I love supporting local businesses and I love buying things that are locally sourced. I don't mind the hour drive and now that I've had this cake, I might be coming by more often.

Unique ordering process, great service and most importantly excellent subs. I recommend the French dip and the cuban. :)
I love Which Wich! I just wish there was more of these around the area. I love the idea of writing what you want on the bag, and all the different options of toppings, bases, and even bread or lettuce wich. Overall, this is one of my favorite places to go for a sandwich. I would recommend for others to try!
Although it can be a little pricey for a college student, I pick Which Wich over Jimmy John's every time. The ingredients always seems fresh and the employees are always upbeat and nice!

Wonderful Indian food! The variety is amazing. The quality, portions and service were out of this world!
One day I realized there was actual Indian food in Eastern Iowa.
This is by far the best place in town to go for Indian food. Thier buffet is a great way to sample the menu for cheap. The service is quick and efficient and not overly pushy. The food is served hot and never fails to be amazing.

Your typical Starbucks coffee with friendly staff. I wish the drive through were more open, we had an issue with stinky smokers once...
I go there everyday and they are always happy and polite. The drive thru has a long line in the morning which is typical, but it always moves fast. I never have to wait more than 10 minutes to get my drink and go. Coffee makes me happy and so do the Starbucks employees.
I stopped here while passing through on a long drive. I wonder how long this store has been open... They seemed to function at a much slower rate than most Starbucks stores! The bathrooms were kinda dirty, which is unusual for a Starbucks. The drink tasted fine, but I am one of those people with a long, picky order, and although it didn't confuse the person who took the order at all, the guy actually making the drink didn't understand what was written on the cup and had to keep asking.

I came here with friends and was pleasantly surprised. The menu appeals to a variety of palettes with several options of pizzas, sandwiches, appetizers, and entrees. The drink list is no different. I enjoyed the atmosphere, close to the kitchen to see what's going on. I tried the sweet potato burger which was absolutely delicious on a focaccia bun and crunchy pecans in it. Yum! I would have given 4 stars if it wasn't for the Greek pasta salad. It was over saturated in dressing leaving a bitter taste in my mouth. Certainly nothing to write home about. I'm eager to come back and try more menu items. I hear the prime rib is the best around.
Had reservations on Saturday night at 7:30. When we had called to make the reservation, the hostess had said that "it wouldn't hurt to get a reservation". Upon arrival, the waitress had said that there is no reservation for us. And that it was going to be 45 minutes to an hour and a half for us to get a table. When we asked if someone else may have taken the reservation, such as a bartender, she said "you can go ask". I replied, "Really?!?!? I can go ask?!?!?" She then said that she would go ask the bartender. Siri trying to say that we still didn't have a reservation. So she asked for our name in our phone number so we could go somewhere else and have a drink while we waited. Why wouldn't we just have a drink at their bar?!?! Nevertheless, she was able to find us a seat outside within minutes. Obviously the hostess was clueless. But now for the good part....the food!! The beef Wellington bites were awesome!!! And when it came to the beef tenderloin...AMAZING!! So glad we didn't let the reservation debacle spoil our evening. Only other thing that was they closed fairly early, to push peeps to 30Hop. All in all GREAT food and pleasant environment. Will be back!!
I really need to come here more often. This review could really be done in just three words, Iowa Elk Stroganoff. That's really all you need to know. You can thank me later.

Disappointed in drive in service. My order was given to the customer in line before me. He got out his car and returned my order. He was given the correct order and the order he bought back in the girls tried to give to me. I requested a new order and informed them they should not give the order to another customer once the wrong customer handled it. They made some comment among themselves, left the window with the order and returned with the same order because the bag was not fresh. Also, one of the girls uniform had stains on it.
ORDERED: Small original blend black coffee, drive thru ($1.39 + 8 cents in tax). SERVICE: I ordered the coffee, speaker lady stated $1.74, got to window it was actually $1.47, transpose goes in Mike P's favor. RECEIPT: The receipt for a transaction for my cup of coffee is eight inches long yet the coffee is still abbreviated as "Ht Cof SM OrigBlnd". What the fawk, you can use all this paper for a simple transaction but can't spell out my shit? EIGHT CENTS TAX? Seriously Iowa City what the hell are you funding?
The glazed donuts are a real treat for the family. Haven't tried the other varieties, so cannot vouch for other kinds. Customer service at window has been pleasant. I am a repeat customer.
