Went here to try their pizza buffet, good pizza, great selection of pizza, fresh ones come out like every 5 minutes. Great for the price, friendly atmosphere, our waitress could've been nicer, but since its a buffet I can't really complain. The pasta dish was empty though, the little bit that I did get to try was yummy.

One of my husbands favorite places in town. We love the italian nachos (a must get every single time). Lately, it seems like there has been less meat in it, but still good, hot, crunchy, cheesy. :D. We usually get this and share some pizzas with the group. We pretty much like all of them, so it's hard to give a more detailed review on the different types. I have tried the chopped salad once. The salad is huge and pretty tasty too. I've had it at different locations of Old Chicago though. Some give less dressing than others (but you can always ask for the dressing on the side and put as much as you want on it). Also, if you're a University of Iowa employee or student, you get a 10% discount or so. I forget the exact amount, but it's around there. Don't forget to ask!! Not all the employees are aware of this.

Went to the weekday pizza buffet and it was all really tasty. Nice staff and good beers. Will definitely come back again. Looks like it would be great for watching sports as well, lots of TVs.

This place gets one star for our awesome waitress and loses four stars for the entire incompetent management. After dining at the restaurant, we left our card by accidentally in the credit sleeve. The next morning, we drove four hours away to a different city to continue a cross country road trip. We called the restaurant the following evening upon realizing the card was missing. One manager promised he would send it out ASAP and to wait for it. We waited five days. Nothing. Called back and he was apologetic as he had FORGOTTEN to do so. Nonetheless, our patience was wearing thin but gave him an extra ounce of grace to prove himself as he promised yet again to mail it out. Another WHOLE WEEK ROLLED BY. Nothing. Absolutely irritated by now, we called AGAIN. This time a different manager picked up and said he wasn't working and to expect a phone call from him. Nothing. FOURTH TIME CALLING- a different manager picked up and put the phone down instead of hold so he could call the first manager who didn't mail our cc. I could hear him "you didn't mail it yet?" This really ticked me off. The manager picked up the phone an told me he had already MAILED IT which was an obvious lie and then I caught the guy in his lie when I told him to have the guy mail it fastest way possible. He said he would tell him to do so. Lol... How is that possible if he "ALREADY MAILED IT" on Friday and its Monday? The whole management team needs to get it together. If you've got such disorganization at the management level- I can only expect terrible business practices. Note to self: pay in cash and don't take crap from the incompetent management!!

SERVICE SUCKS. We have been there 3 times and all 3 times have been poor at best. The first time the server couldn't be bothered to even take our order. Took 20 minutes to get the beer I ordered, another 40 minutes before we got our food. Then I asked for a glass of water, and when she came back she slammed it on our table causing it to spill everywhere. We ended up calling the manager to complain about it. They sent us certificates for a $10 meal each. Well we handed to certificates to our server the next time we were there. Instead of asking for help (since he didn't know how to do it), he charged us for our full meal (appetizer, meal, & dessert for 2). Took 2 weeks for the charge to be fixed. The third time we went there because we wanted to try their pizza that everyone was talking about. We ordered our pizza, got it 35 minutes later, and were forgotten the rest of the meal. We could have left without paying, that's how long we were ignored.

My take out order was messed up or not entered correctly. In either case they gave me the pizza at no cost and a beer while I waited. Excellent customer service! I buy pizza from this place regularly but now I would choose them over any other. My thanks to the manager!!

I think old Chicago's are pretty consistent, however this location is consistent in bad service. We walked in and there was no hostess. We waited several minutes before someone appeared. Once we got to our table it was a good 10 minutes before we were greeted by our server. We ordered and everything went pretty much as planned for a bit. When our pizza arrived we didn't have any plates. Additionally, I had requested my salad have avocado added and the avocado was nowhere to be found. After our food arrived our server checked on us once, but then we did not see him for quite a while. I ended up leaving with our two daughters while my husband stayed behind and paid the bill. The food was good, but the service was terrible.

Every time I get within driving distance of an Old Chicago I eat there. (I travel plenty because of my job) I've never been dissatisfied with their food or their service.

My parents love coming here for the pizza and beer. The pizza fares only "okay" to me, and I can't argue with their beer selection...it's ginormous. But I really can't stand the pasta dishes. They either simply taste terrible, or literally make me sick. I have tried a couple of salads too, the Caesar is good but the Oriental Chicken really didn't do it for me. The service was okay. Everyone needed a refill of beer long before we got it and the hostesses seemed unorganized and weren't exactly cheerful.

I just went here for the first time yesterday and it left a lot to be desired. We waited much longer than normal for our menus, in fact, we had our drinks before the server handed us our menus. We ordered the nachos for an appetizer and they were delicious but the salad I ordered (Chicken and walnut) was laughable. I only ordered half, which costs about $8.75 and it was came in a small bowl with iceberg lettuce (some of it was brown) tossed in dressing with walnuts, chicken slices, and cranberries. I seriously couldn't believe they were charging that much for a $2 salad - and not even a breadstick. Old Chicago should just do themselves a favor and take all salads off the menu or charge what they are actually worth. The food everyone else ordered was okay, nothing to get excited about. Aside from their large beer selection and mediocre pizza this place was really disappointing. I'll be sure to stick to pizza and fried foods if I ever come back.

Not too bad. As far as chains go, it doesn't suck. The drinks aren't anything spectacular, the food isn't terrible. A bit greasy but pretty good.

Good pizza and wings. Best pizza in Iowa City. Reasonable price.

Food was okay, but a very bad customer service. A drunk girlfriend of a bartender was screaming at the customers.

FUN place ! Perfect location, on the Coralville Strip (2nd street/U.S. Hwy 6), across the street from UI Women's softball complex and the UI Track. NEXT to the Heartland Hotel too!.. Old Chicago is my favorite place. 110 COLD beers in stock! FRIENDLY Staff, music is NOT loud, no smoking, and lots of people. Open fairly late too. Get your self a World Beer Tour Card and get started.. Food is really good. Nice menu, good service. Tip these waiters/waitresses, as they work hard. Lots of them are working their way thru school, so be nice...

This has always been one of my favorite places to go. Great atmosphere, great food, friendly waitstaff, and LOTS of beers!!! Just reopened after the flood, and not too used to the new decor, but still has the same feel about it. Pizza is great but a little on the doughy side, will gladly let you sit and talk with your friends for hours on end. Well worth checking out if you haven't before, and well worth going back if you have!

Pale shadow of the original. Had a Chicago style mushroom sausage pizza and it was the blandest most boring pizza I've had since 3rd grade school lunch. The decor and menu resembles the Old Chicago in Boulder, but Coralville is missing out on the food.

The bartender clearly has no interest in getting a tip from me, that is too bad because I usually tip very well since I was a bartender/waitress once, because she is too busy refilling beer after beer for the guys down the bar while I sit here with an empty plate and nearly empty beer. She has been walking past me for 20 minutes since I've been done eating and nothing. Finally took my plate but didn't bother to ask if I wanted another beer or my check. Still sitting here waiting for my check. I think I will have to save myself some money on the tip portion (something I never do) because this is downright bull. Not even busy because I'm here at an odd hour. She is now standing beside the bar with a group of waitresses talking. I don't think I will be returning, even though the food was good.

Went there for the first time for dinner since my boyfriend has been there a couple times and had some good pizza. We got there around 6:20pm on a Friday. Got seated and drinks were brought to us by our waiter pretty quickly. He took our order and another table's order. We waited for a long time before he served us food. The food we got was not what we ordered. At that point, we were not even served our appetizers. When we asked about our appetizers he said he will check on that. Without apologizing, he left the table and blamed the computer system for messing up the order. After looking at the clock and the fact that the other table was almost done eating we decided to wait another 10 minutes. After that wait, we were out of there. I don't think I will be back there. And below is my bf's review. Old Chicago has gone downhill. In the past, service was quick, the food great, and drinks reasonable. Today, we waited 45 minutes for NOTHING. The waiter never put our order in! Did not apologize, didn't even make eye contact after he gave us an adjacent table's order, then proceeded to take it off our table and give it to the right party. Management is clearly unconcerned with the future of their business with service so poor. Will not return. Would give zero stars due to a total lack of service, but cannot. Extremely disappointed. At least our water was cold. Went to el cactus across 2nd street and had dinner served in under 15 minutes.

Round 200 at Old Chicago and each time is as good as the last! I'm starting to consider asking for my paychecks to be dispensed in meat me pizza slices. We decided to try out some of the different offerings on the menu this time. The monterey-chicken calzone was decent, not great. Good flavor, but oddly enough short on the bread and cheese portions. Calzones need to be overflowing in my mind and this was fullish, but not stuffed. My wife had lasagna and it was solid. Very generous portion was more in line with what we've come to love about Old Chicago! I'd love to see the pan these come in as you could probably feed a small village with it! Lasagna good, calzone decent, pizza tremendous!

Not a fan of the pizza - pretty bready crust, I prefer thin. They have a decent selection of beers for a corporate chain. There is a beer club with a card, so you can earn things like can coolers as you drink through their inventory.

Did not see what the hype was all about. We (a family of 3, two adults one 5 year old) came in on a weekday after the lunch rush and the staff appeared to not be very interested in seating/serving us. Once seated, it took over 30 minutes to get our food in an empty restaurant. Maybe that should have been my clue right there to not even go in.
