You have to try the shortribs with polenta & yes a cooked egg.- over the top good. Good coconut shrimp. Mahi tacos were really good. Cheesecake was ok. Like firmer type of cheesecake. Great service!

Better than most bar/grills in the hotel areas. I had the veggie burger and it was pretty delicious.

Ocean Pool Bar and Grill is located at the Westin Ka'anapali Villas. It's on the pricey side, which is unsurprising given that it's a Westin resort restaurant. However, the service was incredibly friendly, and all of the food and drinks that I tried were nothing short of delicious. In fact, the fish tacos here were the best I had throughout my vacation. Happy Hour is very affordable, so be sure to pop by for a drink between 3-5pm. Lots of aloha here.

Love the Westin but our meal at this restaurant was a disappointment. Beautiful Saturday afternoon & had to wait over 20 minutes to be seated despite many open tables because there were only 2 servers on duty. Food was average, limited menu. Also took 30 minutes to get a glass of iced tea because it was brewing. Would recommend venturing off the property for lunch!

Sunset on the beach in Maui ! Great view of the sun setting over the ocean... beautiful.. We had couple of appetizers, nothing memorable . Drinks...cold beer Great company and conversation and the setting made it the place to be.

We tried the farm to table menu and were very impressed. First course consisted of polenta with a 63 degree Celsius poached egg with a pomegranate Demi-glaze. Second course was a flatiron steak with chimichurri sauce. It was accompanied by a cauliflower purée, local multi colored cherry tomatoes. We enjoyed this while watching a lovely sunset. For resort food it was very very good . Our server, Jessica was so very very attentive. Aloha

Staying at the Westin resort, I wanted to try the property restaurants even though the reviews weren't stellar. I admit there's some perks associated with being an Elite property owner, which include Starwood points. Yes! I'm a point junkie, which lured me to dine here even with some mediocre Yelp reviews. We were seated promptly with professional staff and plenty of Aloha greetings. The restaurant is setback from the ocean, so the views aren't necessarily striking, although the resort property is eye pleasing in itself. The seating is outside, so the ocean breeze is present. We came here for breakfast and passed on the buffet breakfast, as it usually leads to gluttony and regret. I ordered the French Toast, made with Molokai sweet bread filled with coconut jam and Kula strawberries compote on the side. If you prefer your French Toast savory, stay away as this was quite sweet. I did like the thick slices of sweet bread. The coffee was excellent with a robust flavor served in a self-serve stainless steel carafe. Beware of the birds flocking the tables, so don't leave your breakfast unattended unless willing to share. It adds to the tropical dining experience. This is a resort restaurant, so expect higher prices.

This is literally next to a pool. A nice big pool. Different vibe. Nice wooden tables. Partial roof over your head and a few umbrellas to the side. Your choice. This is more for a quick visit before or after the pool visit and is located in the south tower area. South tower is the older location of the Westin. Friendly local staff trained well by the SPG group. No monku!

The only reason I can justify giving 2 stars is because of the view from the table closest to the host stand. We saw an amazing sunset from this table on our first night staying at the Westin Ocean Villas, but since then it's been absolute mediocrity. The service and food are absolutely average, borderline poor. The food is overpriced and blah and there are not enough waiters staffed, which is super annoying when I ask for ketchup and by the time it's brought to my table, my food is totally cold. The buffet breakfast is totally not worth the cost, but if you skip housekeeping in order to get a free buffet coupon, it makes the cost of the other buffet seem more worthwhile. The food is just alright, for the price it should include an omelette bar or at least Belgian waffles or even a better fruit display/selection. The lunch/dinner menu is "meh" although there are some decent items on it. But seriously.... If you are not staying at this hotel, DO NOT COME HERE. It's not worth it. There are SO many better restaurants off property, the only reason they get as much business as they do is because of convenience.

Nice outdoor atmosphere and view of the pool, but way overpriced breakfast and watch out for the killer birds! Breakfast buffet ($25) (3.25 stars) - gets you 5-6 basic buffet hot foods (scrambled eggs, sausage, potatoes, pancakes), usual sides (fruit, oatmeal, cereal, pastries, smoked salmon), and drinks. But no custom omelettes or anything. Fresh pineapple and papaya were great (but hey, no surprise, you're in Hawaii). WATCH OUT for all these tiny, amazingly swift and clever birds that hang around all the rafters waiting to pounce on your food. The second you walk away to the buffet or leave your food unattended for a few seconds, BOOM, they pounce on your food like a B-52 bomber. Bottom line: Nice atmosphere but get ready for way overpriced continental breakfast and to be in a live game of Angry Birds (well Hungry Birds). Not relaxing.

We had eaten here before on a stay at the Westin Ocean Resort Villas. This time we had lunch on the day we arrived and it was a good meal, although pricey. My mom and I ordered quesadillas that were quite good. My husband had the guava pork sliders that he definitely enjoyed. We all had drinks - my mom and I had yummy Mai Tais and my husband a beer. We ordered a kids quesadilla for my 2 year old. The total bill for lunch came to more than $100 before tip. The atmosphere is very nice, located near one of the big pools on property and a little lake filled with koi fish. They do have specialty dining nights including BBQ, crab and prime rib nights. We have also enjoyed their breakfast buffet.

I was very disappointed with the lackluster service for this caliber of resort. The waiter/bartender couldn't have been more apathetic. No smile, no "aloha", nothing. Just a scowl, and a "what do you want." The presentation of our breakfast was sloppy, our breakfast happy hour cocktails were severely watered down, and the continuous swarm of flies and bugs around the bar were somewhat disturbing. Not the type of ambiance or service i come to expect from Westin.

Got there in time for the Early Bird Menu (Thu-Tue, 5:30pm-6:00pm). Appetizer: coconut prawns, 4-5 prawns, perfectly cooked and crispy. So fresh that I could feel the flesh bounced between my teeth. Entree: braised beef, mushroom, risotto croquette, demi-glazed sriracha on poached egg (see picture). The risotto croquette was heavenly. Beef was nicely flavoured, just enough to appreciate the taste of the ingredients. The demi-glazed sriracha on egg went well with the risotto croquette. Dessert: lavender cheesecake. Just as good as the appetizer and entree, but by this time, I was way too full. Delicious and very good value ($29.95, before tax and tips), enough for 2 girls to share). Mark, our server, was excellent! Always appeared at the right time with food or drink, didn't have to wait or ask for anything. Based on my experience, it deserves solid 5 stars. ^^

Really have to be staying here at the Westin. Not a destination Resturant. Great place to watch super bowl beer will be on sale. But 12.00 martinis and over priced burgers are your thing try it

Went to try the breakfast because the hotel offers one free breakfast voucher if you opt out of room cleaning. So I thought "what the heck, what's the worst I could lose?" My wife and I get the breakfast buffet and I must say it was probably the worst buffet I have ever had. First, our waitress brings us coffee with curdled milk. Not her fault, but still, disgusting. So we get up and get our buffet and everything is freezing cold. We got here only 15 minutes after they opened so you would figure everything would at least be warm. The bacon was rock hard, the Portuguese sausage was bland, the eggs were bland, the French toast tasted like burnt toast. The only good thing was the fresh coffee the waitress brought out after we complained of the curdled milk. Also, there is bird poop everywhere. I even got it on my hand at one point. So so so gross. I would not recommend this overpriced terrible worse than continental breakfast. Luckily, we got one meal free but one meal still costs $26.04 with tax! Way overpriced for a worse than Best Western quality breakfast. Don't come here, you'll be extremely disappointed.

Expensive but the ahi poke was totally worth it.. !!! The best ever! And they have some really good cocktails :-)

The 1 star is for good service. Everything about the food and the price was horrible. We had a chicken sandwich with bread so dry we wouldn't eat it. The kid salad was made with wilted lettuce. The ahi tuna was tasteless. We spent $90 and we're extremely disappointed. We should have checked yelp first. Bummer.

Staying here at the Villas and we had a couple meals here. Lunch here is better than on the North side, the menu is (I think) better as it has more to choose from for a light lunch). At any time of day the friendly staff are accommodating to your requests and are very helpful. We had the buffet breakfast a couple times, and ordered from the menu for breakfast once which I think is better than the buffet. We had All-you-can-eat Crab one night and it was SOOO much fun. Lots of crab and it was a wonderful meal. Nice place, however I think it's worth it to head to Whaler's Village and try one of the 3 places there. For the price you will not regret it ! But if you don't plan to leave the resort there are limited places for meals and this is nice.

    (4)
  • Tim R.

No matter what meal we have had here, it is always fresh, fast and easy. The Westin KOR is a true gem and this replace holds true to the Westin name sake. People on yelp have become too picky. Don't look at the low reviews here. Pretty lame if you ask me. Most of the people that stay at the resort do nothing but complain all day anyways, so this doesn't surprise me at all.

I'm going to have to raise this place to 3 stars, although I'm sad to hear about the pizza that was still frozen in the middle for Karl and the DH. Haven't eaten there yet, but learned that it's the only bar at the Westin Villas where one can get a beer before 11am. I know I sound a bit like a lush here, but beer is best in the morning hours. I picked up a 22oz Longboard Lager. It was cold and crisp. A perfect start to another day in Maui. ~r

Located in the The Westin Ka'anapali Ocean Resort Villas, you can get breakfast, lunch, and dinner. If you are staying on the premises, you can let the front desk know that you would like to forgo maid service the following day. In exchange, they will provide you with a voucher for a free breakfast buffet. We had done this for one night to check out the breakfast buffet, which is otherwise very expensive. When you get to the bar area, there is a hostess who will seat you. Thereafter, you can proceed to go to the buffet tables. The offerings range from apple blintzes, scrambled eggs, smoked salmon, bacon, sausage patties, eggs benedict, strawberries, pineapple, pastries, fruits, cold cuts, cereal and a few other items. All the food that I've tried was fresh, but expect typical hotel-fare cuisine, neither extraordinary or horrible. The smoked salmon is located in the table by the center, a bit inconspicuous as it is covered. But if you're lucky to find it, you can make yourself a lox sandwich with fresh onions and capers on a bagel. Yum!! Table service is fairly attentive, refilling cups of coffee and clearing dishes. How the total overall experience leaves something to be desired. If you don't mind the maid not cleaning the room for one night and want to score a complimentary breakfast, it's worth it, but beyond that, I would venture off hotel premises for much better and cheaper eats.

Went on a Thurs night which is Prime Rib night. Service was the best, they did get one order wrong, but quickly brought out the correct order. For the prime rib night, I thought it was great, the veggie selection was limited (brussel sprouts), and the mac & cheese, I've had better, it was just average. Kids got sliders that they ate all up. Wifey choose quesadilla's that she said was very good. Drinks where good, but expensive

Even though the view is beyond spectacular, the food is rather mediocre and isn't up to par in comparison to other places right down the way. The staff is friendly though, but that doesn't make the food taste any better.

Yikes...big mistake. Went for breakfast, which was a buffet. Waiter was non existent...forgot drinks, no silverware, no clean plates, etc... Buffet was out of plates, spoons and milk on three seperate trips up and it was annoying to keep asking the staff to restock. Very overpriced. Steer clear!

Decent food and service. We went over to the south villas (from where we were staying at the north villas) to have dinner because everything casual in the north was already closed. The Ocean pool bar and grill was serving full dinner until 9pm. We were seated immediately and our service was quick throughout our evening meal. The pupu platter appetizer for $16 was good. It had 3 coconut shrimp (best thing of the meal), 2 large mushroom egg rolls, and two pork sliders. It was definitely a good choice for a meal. The chicken bacon sandwich with potato wedges was also good ($16). The seafood chowder was tasty as well. Everything is typically priced for Hawaiian meals. It's something we have to get used to being on an island... things cost more. I gave them 3 stars. It's more like 3.5 stars, but the hours are limited and the place only serves Pepsi. Sorry, my bias, you can't get an awesome rating serving Pepsi products. Even the waitress said she didn't know why they changed to Pepsi, but it isn't as popular. Also, the only iced tea option is a tropical iced tea. I wasn't told it was tropical flavored (mango being very strong in the tea flavor) so I was surprised when I drank it. I'm just a Texas girl who wants plain Lipton iced tea (or at least to be told it's flavored). Not a bad option for food if you are staying on property.

Located at the Westin Ka'anap[ali Ocean Resort Spa and Villas, the Ocean Pool Bar and Grill is very convenient for drinks throughout the day and into the evening, as well as for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The waiters and waitresses who serve drinks during the day are fairly scarce and it is faster and easier to go and get what you want instead of waiting for one of them to come by. We ate breakfast there one morning and thought it very pricey for what was offered. Silver dollar pancakes, with nothing else, are $16.00! Combine that with fresh fruit at $5.00 and it pays to get the buffet for $22.00. For three of us our bill, including tip was $80.00!!!! While the buffet is a little more extensive, there were several items that were not replaced in a timely manner. To their credit there was lots of papaya, which I love and don't see too often when in Maui. The Eggs Benedict were either over cooked or under cooked. Didn't seem to be a happy medium. Our waitress was very nice and brought us pog juice when requested, as the juices on the buffet were very watery from too much ice in the pitchers. Fresh strawberries were delicious. Bacon was cooked to perfection.....well done, but not burned. Not someplace I would want to go every day with my family, but for one meal during a week's stay, it was okay.

Chris, a bartender at the Ocean Pool Bar and Grill, is easily the best bartender on Maui. He's ruined me for all other daiquiris. I'm convinced I'm never going to have another daiquiri as good as the ones he makes. Mahalo for taking good care of us!

I would definitely say it's decent overall. You have to keep in mind that while the resort is awesome (Westin Kaanapali Villas) and a great place to vacation, restaurants are typically always the same: sub-par but work for the situation, and that's how I feel about this place. It wasn't terrible - it didn't wow me, but it worked. The waiter was exceptionally nice and accommodating to our family, making sure we had everything we needed, especially for special orders and beverage refills. I had the seared ahi for lunch and I will say I really enjoyed it. The ahi itself was flavorful and the salad/dressing componants were tasty. My sister and her boyfriend enjoyed the burgers which everything on them coupled with iced teas. The only non-winner of the group was the chicken pesto sandwich. It didn't have much flavor or zing that left you wanting more. They did work out the bill so we could charge it to our different rooms and were very quick to bring out our bill and close us out (which can sometimes be a production). I would return here for appetizers and a drink, but I think for an overall meal, it doesn't really win my heart.

When you don't feel like getting in the rental car and driving anywhere the Ocean Pool Bar is a good choice to watch a game and grab a cocktail or 12 if staying at the Westin. The prices are a little higher than normal and the food isn't amazing but everything is okay. Their pizza was probably the best thing on the menu and the Pina Colada was tastier than normal.

Soooooooooooooooo unlucky. It's my b-day..wife surprised me with a trip to Maui. Opted out in eating at the "sports bar" so we'd tried "Ocean". Tried the onion soup..not traditional "French onion" soup. Lame. No melted cheese over the sides. Way too much thyme. Not enough bread. (Unless ur a bird) Ordered the sashimi and specifically asked if it was sweet. "J" (our waitress) said it wasn't. Boy was it sweet. Sent it back and asked if the poke was sweet. She said absolutely not.. It was! Just wanted something salty with my beer. After all, it was my b-day!? Tried the fish and chips. They were out of tarter sauce so they whipped us up some mayo and "sweet relish" and gave it to us. Not bad. Far from good though. I have to say.. The Deschutes "chain breaker" was delish! Oh... Mac and cheese was right out of the box...simply put... gross. Outside if the that...Maui is beautiful!! Sorry ocean chef... Not ur day. My birthday meal will be fulfilled somewhere else. And never again at....

Birds, birds, birds... Everywhere tiny little birds trying to steal food... Remember to always have one person at the table to keep an eye on the food and shoo away the tiny birds. We did the Buffet. I have seen bigger and better buffets for half the price.

I like to eat my breakfast way way early in the morning, with coffee in one hand and magazine on the other, pick the food items at your pleasure, relax and enjoy the luxury of being on vacation. The breakfast buffet at Ocean's isnt too much different from any other resorts, but the ambience, great service and the fresh morning breeze from kaanapali shore made it a memorable experience.

On multiple days of the week, they have prix fixe "specials" This night it was "crab fest". We weren't hungry enough for all-you-can-eat, so we wanted to order from the menu. On the nights they have specials, the entree menu is shrunk down to 4 choices. My wife tried to order the asian noodles, and our server told us that it was "terrible", so she ordered a salad and I ordered the Kobe burger. The burger was overcooked and the bun was soaked with grease and it had little taste. Her salad even more disappointing. How do you screw up salad? The server was great, but the food was horrible. I guess we should have ran away when the server was steering us away from one of the 4 choices. If you are staying at the Westin KOR, go to Pulehu Italian Grill. That place is 5 stars all the way.

This is where we spent our time eating at the breakfast buffet that was included with our package. Overpriced for $20 a person but luckily this was included. They have the usually suspects (eggs, bacon, sausage, toast, pastries, fruit, oatmeal, cereal, juice and coffee) and specials (french toast, pancakes, eggs Benedict, and blintzes)depending on the day. Service is attentive and atmosphere was relaxed. We also decided to have lunch here once since it was convenient and we had some hotel credit to use. We had there pupu platter and ahi tacos. Both were okay. Tasted like typical bar food made from the freezer. Service was good and they always have sports on the tv's behind the bar. If you are looking for good food, I'd look elsewhere. But they have convenience all taken care of.

Literally, "Meh. I've experienced better." We had dinner here our first night because we were tired and just wanted something easy. Our waiter took FOREVER to greet us and FOREVER to bring us drinks and FOREVER to get us our check. Fortunately, we are in love so we stared in each other's eyes while we waited but it was kind of incredible how long everything took. The food was good. My man had the BBQ pork sandwich and was in LOVE with that thing. He said, "THIS is what I always want when I order a pork sandwich." So there you go. Pork sandwich perfection apparently. I ordered a plain piece of mahi mahi and the garlic parmesan mashed potatoes. The potatoes were HEAVENLY but the fish was kinda blah. Again, my man said, "mmmm, mmmm, this fish is so buttery and good!" So apparently it was buttery and good. The more disappointing food is the breakfast buffet. I understand the technicalities of offering a buffet - especially when the hotel gives out free buffet vouchers in exchange for giving up a day of maid service - but the food was really just icky. In fact, we both got sick later that day and had some unpleasant experiences. The buffet offers: cereals, juices, yogurt, berry compote, pineapple slices, eggs, sausage, bacon, eggs benedict, red potatoes (super greasy! blech!), waffles, and some other fruit. I will probably not eat here again. There are too many other options to explore on Maui.

The Good: Great fish taco's and Mahi Mahi Sandwich. Even the chili nachos was good. Our favorite drinks are the "Tropical Monkey" and "Lava Flow" they do a good job. The Bad: Typical resort pricing, a tad high for the food, and way high for the drinks...definitely buy your drinks at Happy Hour ($6 vs. $11).

This is located in the Westin Ka'anapali Villas. We happened to go on a Monday night and it was BBQ night. I was hesitant to get it but some ribs sounded pretty good at the time. All the sides were buffet style and then they would bring out whatever meat you ordered. Obviously I ordered the ribs and was very pleased with the sides. The sides included potatoes with a slightly spicy seasoning on them (very tasty), bok choy (it was an odd side but the best bok choy I've eaten) it was made with butter and garlic- absolutely delicious, cole slaw and jalapeno cornbread. After you were done eating they brought you three scoops of ice cream, vanilla, strawberry and chocolate and ten you could go up to the dessert bar and add all your toppings. It was all very good. The bar is outside overlooking the pool so it had a nice resort feel to it. Watch the birds though, we saw them stealing food from tables if you weren't watching! LOL

We've stayed at the Westin twice now (just last week and in 2005). Both times we've eaten at the Ocean Pool Bar and Grill and both times have been disappointing. In 2005, we went and ate lunch there. I don't remember the specifics of the dishes so won't comment on them. However, the service was very poor. It took a very long time to order, receive our food and get the attention of the waiter. During out stay last week, we tried again. We went at 10:30am as lunch was beginning. Out of a couple dozen tables, four were filled. We were seated promptly, and a waiter came out to greet us. And that was it. After waiting for about 10 minutes, I finally got up and went to the bar to ask if we could order. The waiter showed up and took the order. Food arrived pretty quickly. Unfortunately, it was very disappointing. I had the Turkey BLT but asked for no bacon...soooo a Turkey LT. :P What I got was a BLT. Annoying but I just took out the bacon - no huge biggie. I then noticed that for a dish that was about $13-$15, the turkey was deli turkey. Not real, roasted turkey but deli slices like you would find in a pack of Oscar Meyer deli meat. At a Westin, paying that much, I expected fresh turkey. Decided to eat it anyways and unfortunately discovered that the pita I had tasted slightly moldy. There was no visible mold but the distinct taste was there. The bright note for me was the fruit. Excellent, juicy, and fresh. But anything otherwise on Maui would be a travesty. I even liked the pineapple, which I usually hate. Luckily we discovered the Pailolo Bar and Grill, also at the Westin, which was excellent. We'll avoid the Ocean Bar and Grill from now on and just go to Pailolo. Better food, service and views.

Had to edit my review down to 2 stars when I remembered the SLOW SLOW SLOW service. Despite more than a dozen open tables, it took us several minutes to be seated. Then, there couldn't have been more than four other groups dining there, but after he took our drink order, our waiter didn't visit us again for about 20 minutes. At that point, we put in our dinner and dessert orders at the same time just to avoid having to wait again. Ugh. ********* Three stars for the AMAZING brownie dessert. Otherwise, the food was good but overpriced ($32 for shrimp scampi??), and they served my mom's pinot noir cold. For shame! If you want to dine at the Westin, Pulehu is a better bet.

*This review is only for the breakfast buffet* As I mentioned in my review for The Westin, the resort offers a "Go Green" program where you can earn breakfast vouchers for the buffet at this restaurant. After accumulating enough vouchers for my family, we went to enjoy this complementary meal for sacrificing maid service during our stay. It wasn't worth it. I know hotel breakfast buffets are pretty much the same wherever you go, but this one is just way below average. There was a wide assortment of food including bagels, cereal, fruit, bacon, eggs, and waffles. My biggest issue was with the waffles, which were so incredibly dry it seemed like they were reheated from the previous day. The strawberries were also flavorless and tasted like they came from a can. Pineapple was good though, naturally, being in Hawaii. Service was really friendly though, and the restaurant is located right by a koi pond and tiny sparrows are a constant presence flying throughout the dining area. It's got great ambience and I hope to try lunch or dinner at this restaurant during future visits. When dealing with the breakfast buffet alone, however, this doesn't float my boat.

i swear i'm not picky but the food in maui was less than stellar. Thank goodness I was staying at the Westin!! I ended up eating here about 4x during my stay here and I got plenty of desserts to go!! Get the ahi poke, and the macadamian ice cream dessert. My husband and I cleaned the plate!!! Also the pulled pork sliders!

We were staying at the villas at the resort and saw them advertising their Taco Tuesday. Worst Taco Tuesday i have ever been to. They serve family style which, in their idea, you all get to figure out which taco is yours. All the tacos come on one plate. They also pluralize their entire taco menu, the words family style and tacos al carbon can only make me assume more than 1 taco. No. You pay $6+ for one taco.. No sides. Service was nothing special, not only was the hostess really uptight but we also waited a long time before our server came to the table. Bad experience.

  • R D.

Came here the other night and grabbed two open barstools, per the hostess' instructions. The bartender came to us about 5-10 minutes later not to say "hello" or "aloha" but rather to tell us that the two barstools where we were seated, were occupied. When we explained that the hostess sat us there he rudely snapped "well, she is not the bartender". For such a lovely resort (located at the Westin Ka'anapali Ocean Resort Villas), I'm really disappointed in the service of its dining establishments. Will definitely not return here.

Crab stuffed mahi mahi. The food was very good but the drinks were just okay. Hard to see anything on the table after dark so if you have eye trouble bring a flashlight :o) Prices are up there but that's the price for eating at the resort. Overall we were very happy with our experience! I hear their breakfast is very good as well.. I think they close at 9pm but you may want to double check that if you are going in the late evening..

We were staying at the Westin Villas and after a long day of snorkeling in Lana'i we just wanted to relax and get something light and small to eat on the property. We went to the Ocean Pool Bar & Grill and I ordered a turkey sandwich and my DH ordered a "hand made" sausage & pepperoni pizza. I'm giving it two stars because the drink I had was really good - it was an electric lemonade and it was super yummy. Now for the bad...my DH's "hand made" pizza was still frozen in the middle. Also, the next day I was extremely sick which we equated to the sandwich since my DH and I ate the exact same things the rest of the day and he was fine. I was a little miffed that they didn't comp his pizza but oh well. We didn't end up eating here again!

Stayed here 4 years ago and remembered the buffet breakfast was delicious. $24 pp but fresh food and well prepared. Came back on this trip just for the breakfast although staying elsewhere. Beautiful grounds and peaceful way to start the day.

OK, the 4 stars are for their fish tacos, which I LOVE! Service is always good, but other selections can be disappointing. If you are staying at KOR then please give it a try.

Warning! Do not order the "Butterfish". It is known as the "ex-lax" of fish in Hawaii. A person in our party ordered it and the next day he was extremely ill. The restaurant told him the fish was cod, when it was walu also known as escolar. Needless to say we went snorkeling the next day and I needed windshield wipers on my goggles from the orange oil slick that was excreted from him..I was behind him if you know what I mean. If I would have known I would have asked the rental desk for the goggles with wipers on them so that I could see. I also noticed the swimming pool was closed numerous times and maybe a sign of the "orange oil slick". Google butterfish and it will tell you what to expect when you eat it and the restaurant "resort" does not tell their vacationers that it could cause uncontrollable orange oily diarrhea and spoil your vacation. They did not even give us a credit or say they were sorry. We ate there one time and it was the last time. The food is not that good and it is way over priced. If they would lower their prices maybe people would eat there. I don't think it is fair that these places jack up the prices just because they think it is the only place that is close. Duke's restaurant is wonderful with a fabulous view and great food and only about a 10 minute walk opposite direction of Whaler's village. The Sheraton also had great food..mouth watering prime rib for the meat eaters. Consider yourself warned about the "Butterfish" they claim is cod.

Not sure why most of the other reviews are not so great for this place, but I can tell you that we stay at the Westin villas every year and I have eaten here many times and have Never been disappointed! As a matter of fact I just got done eating there. I had the Spicy Fish Tacos & They were Delicious just like I remembered them to be last year! Blackened Seared Mahi Mahi slaw & a Spicy mayo that's So good! The burgers are possibly the best in Maui! Yes the best! Great Char grilled flavor & Juicy! The South Pacific Stir fry is Delicious as well! Big Luscious Shrimp, Island style Chicken, Vegetables & rice. Its One of my favorite things to eat here! I recommend the Spinach salad as well. Fresh Spinach, Bacon, Blue cheese crumbles, Eggs, Maui Onions, Walnuts with a Balsamic Vinaigrette! The Island Fish Poke is really good as well! Ahi Tuna, Avocado, Green Onions, Soy & Sesame oil! The bottom line is It's obvious that they use fresh ingredients and good simple recipes! I guess like any other restaurant it can depend on what you get. I can say that all that I have listed is really good and quality! They have great Mai Tai's as well!
