Drinks are great. Service is ok the only thing I order is the fried chicken. I've tried other menu items and wouldn't order again. Eat fried chicken, garlic bread, and mushroom appetizer

When i first moved here 5 years ago, kohos was the first place i ate. For breakfast i always get the Road To Hana with English Muffin, its really tasty & they cook it skillet style. For lunch & dinner i always get the Koho Plate with Rice, its one of the best food they have over there & its their signature dish. Its located at the mall next to Macys womens side & theres parking in front of the resturaunt, i prefer parking a little far due to the parking spaces there are kind of small.

Amazingly I have been living in Maui for over a year and yet have had the nerve to try this place even with everyone who goes and eats here! Radio commercials often with Augie T talk about koho grill and advertise specials! To my surprise I found that the Asian chicken salad is down right amazing! It is very light seasoned with some kind of guava passion fruit sauce! Toasted almonds and wonton encrust the salad and are the best part! Roasted nice and crisp! Other mentionable items where: 1. Koho special omlet 2. Mushroom burger 3. Sautéed mushrooms 4. Fajitas are wicked!

Koho's Grill and Bar is located in the Queen Kaahumanu Center. Next to Macy's and Ramen Ya. When you walk in you will be greeted by a hostess. You can sit in the bar area or the restaurant side. They have booths or tables. Sometimes you may have to wait to be seated but it usually goes fast. Food selection you have a variety of things to choose from appetizers to share to a nice selection of salads. Plate lunches comes with rice and mac salad. They also have burgers and sandwiches to choose from to. Every time I go it never fails I always get the fish plate I like it sautéed and to me is delicious. I'm pretty easy to please. When it comes to desert and if you ate so hungry get the Kilauea snow ball (fried ice cream) o goodness this is the best in a cinnamon shell and with caramel to YUMMY is all I can say. The staff here are friendly and attentive. The food usually comes out pretty quick after your order has been placed. Plus on Tuesdays is fajita day so go share a fajita with a friend is really good and comes with cheese sour cream guacamole lettuce and salsa. You can choose from steak chicken. We usually get chicken and it's plenty to share. On Thursdays it's Margarita day hey for 2.25 for a Margarita you can't go wrong. So if you're done with shopping or have free time stop by koho's.

This is seriously the Denny's of Maui. Cheap food that's quite unimpressive but will serve its purpose if everything else I'd closed. I sat in the bar section and asked for a drink list and the bartender said they had no menu and referred me to a board with a few drinks. I ended up getting some non-memorable tropical concoction. The drink was sweet not a lot of alcohol and it had as hair in it. Couldn't finish it so took it back. For dinner I ordered some lemon mahi mahi pasta. It was OK very lemony and the fish was tasty. It wasn't the best meal but for the price it served its purpose. If you are by the airport and Aviv absolutely need to eat for cheap late night then maybe come here. But really its not a must I wld avoid as a tourist esp since its so many great places to eat in the neighborhood.

Lava Flow was delicious! Food was alright tho. Nothing out of the ordinary. Not really worth the prices charged. Nice staff. Dated ambiance...for older people. No healthy options either...or not healthy enough to list.

I only come here for the Ono desserts!!! The kilawea snow ball, dakine brownie, and there cheese cake! Yum! As for there food so far I only favored the fettuccine pasta and there hamburger steak plate too. Haven't really tried anything else. But those are my favorites so far. Service is fair. Like the staff they're friendly!

Stopped in for a quick bite and wished we hadn't. The fish sandwich came out, (after a 30 minute wait) frozen on the inside. Sent back and came back to us cooked , but rubbery. Chicken Caesar wrap was sub par with no real Caesar taste and microscopic bits of chicken. Chips and salsa were somewhat better with the exception of 1/3 of the chips that were overlooked. The only positive was that the staff was attentive...oh, and the soda was cold. Save your money, time and aggravation...go elsewhere!

Ordered drinks, came quickly. Ordered the pupu platter, came quickly. Ordered fish sandwich, came quickly. Our actual waitress was AWESOME! That being said... Got my fish sandwich dumped in my lap by another waitress who brought the food out. After I scooped it back onto the plate she said she would bring me a new one. Got up to wash off. When I came back, the other waitress came out with my plate with tartar sauce smeared on the outside of the bun and onion rings with some tartar sauce on it. Hmm... New one? I think they cleaned up the plate and brought the same food out to me. I pointed this out to my actual waitress who took the plate back. She came back saying that they would fire me a new one and take it off the bill. That sounds like a reasonable solution to the situation. Well, she came back a few minutes later saying that all they were going to do was take the fish sand off the bill and call it even. Given the company I was in, I did not want to pursue any further. So, what did I get in the end? A free fish sandwich that was dumped in my lap then taken away. Yay me.

I would rate this place 0 stars if I could. Came here for dinner. Boyfriend ordered a teriyaki burger and I got the burger plate. Halfway through my burger patty, I found a freaking roach in my food. Boy, did I wanna barf. Definitely not coming back again!

I was very disappointed in the Pot Roast dinner special of the day. It tasted okay but appeared as if it was leftovers from the actual Pot Roast. The service was very good.

The radio station always advertises Koho's and from my experience, it is not all that great. My boyfriend ordered some kind of Mahi entree and I had the steak fajita. I had a little bit of my boyfriends Mahi, and it lacked flavor. Also with my steak fajita. It tasted really bland.. I was sad to receive my check because who wants to pay for food they absolutely DID NOT enjoy? :(

Let's face it, this is one of the few restaurants on Maui that's been around for a while and you can probably depend on going here every time you visit the island. On top of that, there aren't really many restaurants to choose from on Maui in general so I usually end up eating here at least once during my visit. Centrally located in the Queen Kaahumanu mall Koho's has been one of my childhood favorite restaurants. Koho plate, teri burger, fajitas, and Kilauea snowball are all 5 stars in my book!

Stopped here, fresh off the plane (7am). Our server didnt look much of a morning person. Its located right in the queen kaahumanu center. Shops dont open until 9am though. I got the maui omelette, it was ypur typical ham and cheese omelette. Nothing fancy. Their breakfast potatoes are cooked with bacon, for all you vegetarians out there. My husband ordered the loco moco with brown rice. The meat tasted off. It had that "processed meat" texture. The gravy was okay, we've both had better. Good prices, big dining area, and lots of parking avaiable.

Kohos is a wonder for sure. How it's survived this long is beyond me. It's been around forever. And ever. And ever. I remember eating here as an itty bitty keiki. Twenty years later and I still think it's disgusting. This review has been a long time coming. And I only write it because I am honestly utterly surprised it's still kicking. As mentioned just a few sentences back, I ate here a lot as a kid. As an adult, I not only Avoid this place, but I consider punching anyone in the throat for considering it. Whyyyy spend money on gas station level food? I wouldn't even do the drunk munchies session here. I feel like all my aunties and uncles, all my friends parents, all my local kine family, adored this place. My question is WHY?! Rubber. Microwaved. Flavorless. This place spits on the image of local food. Don't eat here. Just. Don't.

I came here a couple of times. The ambience isn't very surprising, very bland. The servers were very nice! However the food was nothing really special. I got the chicken stir fry, and didnt get the pack of wontons over the plate. It was crispy, and worse, extremely oily. The food is something you would get at a lunch wagon, when your really hungry and decide to stop anywhere to eat. My boyfriend got the mushroom burger and fries, and the burger was packed with oil and grease, especially the fries. I think one of the best things that I have got, was the deep fried ice-cream over the cinnamon tostada shell!

Saturday, July 12: 10:40-11:15 Honestly I used to love Kohos, but after today it'll be our last time here. Food: 2/5 - Food took a while to get. My Maui omelette was really good, but before I got my food I was reading yelp (seen the fly in the plate and read about the hair in their drink) and I pretty much had to inspect every bite I had; which ruined it for me! My boyfriend got steak & eggs; he asked for Medium got Medium rare, potatoes was burnt and the toast was stale which left only the eggs. Also, Felt like forever to get a refill on our drinks. Experience: 1/5 - We walked in and seemed like we interrupted a couple of the girls in the middle of their conversation. Anyways our waitress didn't tell us her name, didn't smile and just didn't seem like a morning person. Everyone seemed so miserable, not happy at all other than to their coworkers. I'm a waitress so I know how these things work and that was not even remotely close! Overall: 1/5 - That was pretty much all it took for us not to come back. I don't know if they were just all having a bad day or what, but I am not going back again to find out. I would go to Zippy's if you're looking for local food or Da Kitchen.

Inexpensive. Same old same ol. Nothing great or anything. Same old food. The last time we had 3-4 servers even a manager brang us food. I was confused to who is our server lol.

It's a nice family joint that has been a common meeting place for family & friends I've been in high school. Sure, the furniture is dated, it could use a deep steam cleaning, but it's conveniently located, open late, & the food isn't THAT bad. Their offerings won't blow your mind away (it's at a mall, what do you expect?) & sometimes the soup comes out "warm-ish" instead of hot, but it suffices the taste buds. The best part about Koho's is their KILAUEA SNOWBALL! If you love ice cream, you'll love this! I can never get enough and at times I'll go here just for the snowball. They have Fajita's for 2 on Tuesday and Margarita Thursdays ($2.25 each). I usually get the buffalo wings, which I actually really like.

Great Service. I have been to Koho's many times and we always have great service. But I won't be returning because I ate there last week and got food poisoning from the lemon caper fish. It was awful

Love love love dis place. my favorite is the Teri Burger with extra sauce on the side. Have tried other food and everything was ono. This is our family out night go 2 place. We were a bit disappointed when they cut back on the amount of fries given with the burger but all in all its a big burger so its all good. The wait staff is usually very attentive too.

We just came here because we wanted to kill some time at a sports bar (college football, anyone?) before we caught our flight back to the mainland. We also needed to munch on something before we left as well (lunchtime!). So we came here because we were already at the mall. We sat in the bar area and ordered some food. We got the oriental salad with chicken and onion rings. The onion rings weren't bad. The batter had no flavor, but it was perfectly crispy! The salad wasn't bad but it wasn't anything great. Honestly it was the vibe of the place that didn't click with me. I've been to dive bars, but this was like awkwardly divey for a family-environment. Plus, the service was pretty mediocre considering that there were only a few tables there. I probably won't be back, unless I need to kill some time watching some games.

  • Hanz L.

This place is located at a mall. I must say it's probably one of those great places for locals to frequent, but as a tourist, there are much better options, so keep in mind this rating is in the perspective of a tourist. The pleasant dining experiences were that we were greeted quickly, seated quickly, and helped quickly. The service was friendly, however didn't seem too enthusiastic. The lady must have been really tired or something. The menu selection and options didn't seem particularly exciting, but the prices compared to many other places we've been to throughout our trip in Maui were a good chance of pace for our wallets. We ordered the saimin and the road to Hana. The saimin was nothing special really (but at least not over salty like some other places), and to be honest, we enjoyed the hearty saimin over the nice Road to Hana dish. Overall, a good place to fill up for cheap. Perhaps good for a local, not something a tourist would be looking for.

This is where diarrhea goes to die, terrible food, terrible service, and the worst radio commercials in the history of radio

Havent been here for awhile and going back isnt an option, I mean the food is great just the service lacks greatness. You wait forever just to get your drinks, then when they do bring it its not even the correct drink. The food takes a while but well worth the wait tried something new this time arround went for the BBQ Guava Kalua Pork Slider great texture but could use a lil flavor boost, also had a side of mushrooms tast the same as the first time I tried them TO DIE FOR!! That wine sauce is a killer.

We came for breakfast. On vacation and just wanted some eggs after ten. I had the road to Hana and my husband had the crab cake Benedict. I mean, really though the only thing better than a crab cake is a crab cake with Hollandaise sauce, no? It is not like 'blow your mind' food but you know this. I have no complaints. Its good, we enjoyed it and we'd come back.

  • Dennis S.

Truly a diner. But don't come hungry. Service was nice, the place was comfortable and efficient, and the original art on the walls was absolutely outstanding. I had three pieces of delicious fried chicken, with the least amount of meat on them I've ever see in three pieces that weren't wings. This is as far from a destination restaurant as you can get, but it's ok if you're in the area.

Tried here this past week for late lunch it was actually slow. I needed to eat quick so we decided after driving around aimlessly. I chose here. The place is dark, the decor is local and clean and it doesn't have an odor like some restaurants do after so many years. We had the Teriyaki plate, Nachos and I had the Saute Mushrooms and BBQ ribs. For dessert we had the Kilauea Snowball and the Deepfried Ice cream with apple crisp. The food was OK the female server was very attentive which made it pleasant.

    (2)
  • J K.

The food here is just unpackaged Costco food. If you like beef barley vegetable soup out of a can, come eat here. Progresso vegetable barley? Check. Dinosaur nuggets? Check. Teriyaki chicken pregrilled and unfrozen? Check. Lettuce medley? Check. Saimin broth from a swanson's can? Yup! Seriously are you even trying? They should make a law that says you can't plagiarise food like this. This is home cooking. As if you were a drunk college kid coming home after a night of drinking. Yup. Skip this place. Awful.

  • Crystal M.

We really liked this spot! The food was great-- breakfast especially. Pork Moco was delicious!! Try it!! We also went for cocktails and dinner one night and the sandwiches were pretty good and the drinks were cheap compared to every other place on the island and the atmosphere was friendly and laid back. I looked over some of the reviews from other tourists, and I guess I care about different things than most tourists. We wanted to go to a place where real locals go. Not sure what the other reviewers were looking for? Yes, the restaurant is in a mall. Duh. No, there is no ocean view or tiki torches. Thats not what this place is about. Its a casual place that isnt meant to be fancy. The staff was perfectly friendly to us and we were obviously not locals. If you're looking for the concocted Hawaiian experience straight from a postcard or a movie, you should probably stick to the resorts. PS the radio commercials were adorable. We giggled every time we heard it. :)

I think this may be the local version Denny's of Maui. Prices are not too bad, but the food... is just average. Service is small kine slow, too, even on an average night. Tip: Eat in the bar section if there's openings... that way you don't have to wait for a table. It's pretty much the same atmosphere. :P

Went here because a local told us we had to check it out. I got the garden burger. It was ok, but nothing really special. The fries were good though!

  • Lawrence S.

Went on st pattys day figured they would have some special. I was wrong. Stood at the front door as servers walked past not acknowledging us. Then finally someone said hello and seated us. The food was ok at best. Potato skins were tastless and dried out, the fish and chips were soggy not even a hint of crispness and the teri burger was just a regular burger that had been drenched in store bought teriyaki sauce. The one highligh of the evening was the green salad with grilled fish and guava dressing. The rest of the food was ok to not very good. I would not really recomend this place. Overpriced poor food quality, with soso service.

Came here during our 5 hour layover before our flight home. Looks like a local chillis but food is great! I had the chicken fajitas and hubby had the lemon pasta. Both were yummy and filling.

    (4)
  • Andrew G.

The ribs were hands-down some of the best I have had! They sure do not mess around with their pork here!!! My wife had the ono filet. She liked it, but nothing to write home about. I knew it would be pretty good when you walk in and see mostly locals. I felt out of place, but not enough to dissuade me from eating! :-)

  • Jon C.

Like a Hawaiian-style Chili's, the menu is family friendly. Located just next to Macy's, the restaurant is conveniently located near parking (and everything else in the mall). If you're looking for a reasonably-priced dinner in Kahului, this place fits the bill. Staff is friendly, responsive, and fast. Burgers were good. The kids' Mac & Cheese is just the Kraft cheesy mac from a box. Better to share an entree or get something else for the little ones. You can substitute sautéed veggies for fries. Desserts sounded yummy, but we didn't partake.

    (4)
  • TinkMossy K.

We went there for an early dinner with a party of 8. Service was great and a few of us had a mocha frap dripping with chocolate, Onoliscious!!!! It's a great place for families. We had pasta, nachos, fish, ribs, teriyaki, everything was deliscious, but the fish was a little dried out. Other than that everything was good, it is moderately priced plenty of parking. But with all the options available on maui this one gets lost in mediocrity and doesn't stand out above the rest

  • Lovesto E.

Old time restaurant located in the shopping center. The food choices here are pretty slim and the prices are a bit steep for the portions. I've eaten here a lot and it seems the food is just ok. Nothing special, really. I've had their burgers, fajitas and their kho chicken and found all to be average. It's an option when you tire of the food court upstairs, but truthfully, you get better fare and value in the food court. The service is also hit and miss, but for the most part, the servers are pretty good.

    (3)
  • J M.

Avoid their chili and oriental salad. Chili was so salty and chicken in salad was dry. Salad was so small for $10.. Been there before and liked their burgers, fried chicken plate

So I've been here a few times. Since I am a local I know the food has been the same for years. We ended up going here the other week and it was what I expected as always. Food was "Meh." Our server brought everyone else's food and I had to ask what happened to my plate of food and she gave me the look like I didn't order anything and that it was my fault. I know for a fact that I ordered a plate of pasta. I didn't eat it all because it just tasted really bland. That's not what bothered me the most about this experience here. It was the fact that the server that sat us included a baby in a stroller/carseat that wasn't eating any of their food was counted as one. So instead of seating 4 of us plus a booster seat she sat us as 6. Normally it won't make me so mad but in this case it did. When we got the bill, gratuity was included!!! I'm thinking she purposely sat us as 6 so they could put that damn default gratuity on the bill. What the hell right? It was bad service to begin with, our server forgot my order then treated me as if it was my fault, she even made me feel like she didn't even want to serve me because she didn't bother asking me if I wanted a refill on my drink and on top of that the food wasn't all that great. To think, we only came here because all the other restaurants were closed in the mall. They were lucky it was rainy and we had babies with us or else I would've complained to the manager about our experience. Hell no to the fact that I'll be going there so willingly next time.

So it may seem like this place would not be a find as its part of the Mall. But it is!!! Food is really good. I had the fajitas and the rib appetizer. Wifey had the fried chicken. They have a nice little bar area and do have some specials (I think they have a Margarita Tuesday or something). All I know is I have never had better ribs. Sooooo tender. OK, so to summarize not fancy but good food at reasonable prices. Give it a shot to make your own conclusions. PS -- waitresses were very nice and attentive

quick service... Ice tea is ONO... Best fried chicken!

  • Josephine P.

Do NOT get the salad with the fish in it! The fish is old, cold and it has that gross white buid up on it that old fish has. I've never been so disappointed in a salad in my life. When I sent it back the waitress and manager both said they get a lot of complaints about that dish. I think if you keep getting complaints, do something about it! I felt like I'd been robbed of the $13 that lame salad cost. I've had nachos here before and they were ok, though most of the toppings clearly came out of a can. Koho's is quick and the service is friendly, but don't expect high quality food from this place.

Finally tried Koho's. It was pleasant. No "wow" factor but also nothing bad. Fried chicken plate was ONO. Nice and crispy. The club sandwich was good, minus the fact that the cheese was the kind that comes from plastic wrappers. Kraft singles kind no took it all out. Service was steady. Old school kind of atmosphere.

Koho's serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. For breakfast I usually order their eggs benedict or "Road to Hana". If you're looking forward to dinning at a fancy expensive restaurant, you're at the wrong place. This restaurant is more of a family friendly diner. For lunch I usually order the teri chicken plate or teri burger and fries. (Always ask for their specials during dinner.) I usually end up ordering the guava glazed island fish for dinner. Except on Tuesdays when they have their "fajita madness" special 2 for $22.95. Don't forget to save room and try their Kilauea snowball for dessert! It's a deep fried tortilla shell covered with cinnamon, filled with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream, smothered with honey and topped with walnuts. (You can also request to substitute the honey for chocolate syrup.) The great food, friendly service, at a reasonable price. (Request for Brook if she's working, she's so sweet and always on it. She remembers are orders and always checks on us to see how we're doing.)

Koho is quintessential local comfort food. It's a place to meet with old friends and enjoy. The food is ok. I always enjoy the teriyake beef plate lunch. The garlic bread goes great with the sauteed mushrooms. The potato skins and wings are standard. I'll keep going back to Koho to meet up with friends. The servers were all friendly and accommodating especially when we needed to move to a bigger table.

After having a clubhouse sandwich at the New Eagle Cafe on Sunday...........my OCD kicked in..........can we say - Obsessive, Compulsive, Disorder!!!! I was still thinking about having a good clubhouse sandwich, so I jumped on a plane & flew to Maui to have this sandwich...........Lol! ;) Are you kidding me???? NO I'm not that OCD!!!!! But YES, I really was still thinking of getting that perfect clubhouse sandwich!!!! And Yes, I did fly to Maui today...........but not to get that sandwich. I was actually there for work. After I had finished the job, I was looking for someplace to grub, and ended up at KOHO Grill & Bar for a quick bite today. After I had scanned the menu...........BINGO!!!! I see a Clubhouse Sandwich on the menu. This clubhouse came with two types of cheese (American & Swiss), turkey, ham, tomato, lettuces, & BACON!!!! YES BACON!!!!!! Yea!!!!! I chose my sandwich with wheat bread & fries. Sandwich was way better than the one I had at the New Eagle Cafe, but the serving of fries was very sparse. Price was good...........only $8.95, way cheaper than New Eagle Cafe. Service was fast, but not friendly. I would have given this place a "4" for my dining experience, but had to take away a point, due to my waitress shorting me out on my change when I had paid for my lunch with cash today.

Awful.

If you're looking for diner-style food or a casual place to have a drink, this is the place for you. ATMOSPHERE: Simple diner-style vibe. Lots of booths and tables that can accommodate large parties. The bar area has several high tops, traditional lows and bar top seating for about 8. MENU: Good bar apps like nachos, chili cheese fries, burgers, fajitas, pastas, saimin, steak & chicken entrees, desserts. FOOD: Fajitas - My fave dish here. Beef or chicken on a (usually) sizzling platter. I opt for rice instead of tortilla shells, dump the guacamole & sour cream on the sizzling platter and make myself a chopped steak. Holy yum! Koho Plate - Grilled chicken breast topped with a mushroom cream sauce and side of rice and mac salad. Good taste, cheap and filling. I don't care for chicken breast but it's good here! Mushroom Burger - The homemade patty is tender and juicy, and topped with swiss cheese, sautéed mushrooms, and alfalfa sprouts which enhances the flavor. Good burger but not the best I've had. Nachos - Big portion but skimpy on the toppings. Ask for more toppings and you get charged. Fish & Chips - AVOID. Over done and the batter is tasteless. Garlic Bread - Crunchy, soft & buttery. A must have with the sauteed mushrooms. Sauteed Mushrooms - Pretty damn good for a local restaurant. Onions, wine and butter. Goes great with the garlic bread. Chili Cheese Fries - Generous portion with melted cheese and tasty chili topping. Steak Pupu - Wow, this is the ultimate app for your happy hour, or even a meal in itself! Super tender steak strips stir fried in a salty and slightly sweet soy sauce, with fresh mushrooms, onions, and green peppers. Perfect to share between 2. This item isn't listed on the menu so ask for it. Seafood Bisque - O-M-G this is a must try!! It's normally their soup of the day which doesn't happen very often according to our server. Super creamy and full of flavor. There were a few pieces of crab meat but not much else. Still delish nonetheless. Koho Pasta - Fettuccine with the Koho cream sauce (same as the one on their Koho Plate & Dinner) with fresh tomatoes and garlic bread. It was good but not the best as far as an Alfredo-like sauce. It'd be killer if they added fresh mushrooms & maybe green peas. Saimin - It's a pretty good sized bowl for the low price. The broth was steamy hot, tasty and savory with no sweetness. The noodles were a bit overcooked but still edible. It came topped with chopped ham, hard boiled egg slices, and green onions. The perfect post-drinking snack! Corn Chowder - The cup is small for the price of $3.50. The soup was medium in thickness and had a good slightly sweet and mild savory flavor. Roast Pork - Shredded and tender pork with a mild light brown gravy. It's pretty tasty but not the best I've had. Comes with rice & their mildly seasoned mac salad. Portion size is a bit smallish. Definitely order a salad or soup to accompany. This isn't listed on the menu so ask for it. SERVICE: Staff are diner-style friendly. No reservations are needed because turnover is pretty quick, but expect a wait on weekends. TIP: Margarita special on Thursdays - cheap at $2.25 but they skimp on the alcohol. Tasted like Kool Aid with salt on the rim. :( Avoid sitting near the kitchen entrance/exit cause all you'll hear during your meal is the waitstaff shouting "corner" when they round the corner. OVERALL: Good food (except for the fish & chips,) friendly service and casual atmosphere.

This was probably the lowest point of our dining in Maui. My friend found this place online. From the description, it sounded like a sports bar kind of place. She thought that might be fun, and I was pretty much up for whatever. Upon arriving, we were surprised to see that the restaurant was attached to the mall, we hadn't realized that was where it was located. We were also surprised when we walked in and found it had no resemblance to a bar at all. The bar area was tiny and carpeted. The restaurant actually seemed like more of a family place. We both thought it resembled an old Ponderosa. Our server was covering a pretty big area, and seemed very harried. He didn't even know what day it was, (one of the things that had brought us in were the $2 margaritas on that specific day.) We also had a bit of a problem tracking him down for napkins and refills. We decided to share the mahi mahi fajitas. They came with: salsa, avocado, cheese, sour cream and some gross brown lettuce. Needless to say, we skipped the lettuce. The salsa was fine, nothing special, but passable. The mahi mahi came out with onions sizzling alongside it.. I HATE raw onions, but I did enjoy these, since they were cooked really well. We also liked that the onions had a lemony flavor. I never thought to ass lemon juice to cooked onions, but it was really good, and definitely something I'll try at home. The meal was VERY reasonable, and although it wasn't great, it wasn't bad either. With the exception of the brown lettuce! For what we paid, I wasn't too upset that it wasn't better. I've certainly paid more for worse. We were really disappointed with the ambiance, especially since it was not at all what we were expecting.

We go to Koho's often because it's an affordable dine-in restaurant that you can take your time at. Maui doesn't have too many moderately priced restaurants that you can do that at...anyway... Here's the breakdown of Koho's since we eat there a few times a month (from a regular's point of view). Food: The food is okay, but the menu is very limited. I don't think the menu has changed in the 12 yrs. that we've been regulars there. I usually get the burgers and my wife gets the dinner plates. She usually goes for the teriyaki playte which she says tastes okay. They have a kids menu which is good for my kids since they like the chicken nuggets. Look for their daily specials as well. Bar: On the left side of the entrance they have a bar area with tables and sports on t.v. You can get a eat/drink here or have a few drinks while waiting for your seats. They have a daily happy hour and discounted margaritas on Thursdays. Service: The service is pretty good, even when it gets busy. The servers are very courteous and will come around to fill your drinks in a timely manner. They don't overcrowd you nor do they let you sit and wait. Over the years we've seen wait help come and go, but overall we've had a good experience with the service there. Prices: The prices are moderate and have gone up (like everything else) from before. I would rate Koho between $ and $$ in price to dine here. Bottom line: Koho Grill & Bar is good if you'd like to have someplace to rest and relax between shopping. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner and if you like dining in a nice air conditioned atmosphere, this place is for you. The menu is limited, but they do pretty good at what they have. Koho has a laid back, family style atmosphere which keeps me going back.

We heard the commercial for Koho's on the radio and we happened to be going to the Queen Ka'ahumanu Center anyways so we went to check it out. Inside it looks like a diner that opened in the 1950's. We waited about 5 mins to get a table. The service was quick. I wished the servers would smile a little more. We were there for lunch. My boys ordered a grilled cheese sandwich and dino chicken nuggets. My wife ordered the teriyaki chicken plate and I ordered the honey-dipped fried chicken plate. Both came with macaroni salad and steamed rice. It did not take too long for us to get our food. The food came quickly and it was delicious. All in all it was pretty good. I would probably go back there again the next time I am in Maui. We spent about $45 with tip.

We always go here after a days of work. This particular night was not what I expected. The bartender we had tonight always welcomes us and serves us. And the usual locals who are there greeted us with a smile. We took one of our usual seats an sat. There were a bunch of locals who were already seated next to us. Already got the vibe that we weren't welcomed. After couple drinks I paid and left tip for our fellow bartender and went to get some air. While outside one of the local guy who was seated next to us came out and handed me the tip I left he said - "ladies! She said she (the bartender) got it. Something about bad service. Have a good night" and went back inside! Wow! That was a first! This is the place me and my coworkers go to hang out but after the stunt like that I will not go back. Me being botn and raised here has never experienced another local customer do that. Talk about rude. Be careful over there. Some of the locals are not welcoming.

Food here was below average. Fish and chips sucked. First they were soggy sent them back and still soggy. Not good. Service was slow. Also the fish sandwich was all bread and a little fish. Fry portion was also too small. We asked for more fries and the waitress told us that was the correct portion which was 1 oz. kids did enjoy there Maui burger. Would not recommend.

When I walked in, I felt like I was at Bakers Square. We came to this location after the mall. The food was nothing to rave about, but it filled us up. Everything about this place was A-OK. If you can't think of any better place to eat, then just come here.

I came in from Florida to visit my wife's family. I was told Koho's was a great family style restaurant with good food. My wife's grandma loves eating there. There were four adults in our party and we loved the meal. The staff was very friendly and attentive. I wanted fresh fish and that I got. The grilled Ono (Wahoo fish) was ono (Hawaiian for great). It was served on garlic mashed potatoes, with a creamy crab gravy poured over it. Also a side dish of sautéed vegetables. My friends grilled Ono was with a mango glaze and another ordered a Cob Salad. They loved their meal. The "Dakine Desert" was split between my wife and I. I paid $14.95 for my meal, if I was at the Country club I would have paid double or more. Thank you grandma for the advice... If I could give them a 6 star I would.

This place is nothing special. But the prices are very reasonable and FAST, kind service. Do NOT order the fish salad....the fish is obviously frozen because I for sure thought it was chicken...and dry rubbery chicken at that! But the chili and rice is yummy and my husband liked the nachos (huge for the price)!

Excellent place for local food. Great location in the mall. I recommend the fajitas and teriyaki beef plate. Prices are reasonable as well. Great non fast food place in Central Maui.

I think this may be the local version Denny's of Maui. Prices are not too bad, but the food... is just average. Service is small kine slow, too, even on an average night. Tip: Eat in the bar section if there's openings... that way you don't have to wait for a table. It's pretty much the same atmosphere. :P

Pretty good food. Teriyaki plates a little bland but saw the fajitas and they looked and smelled amazing! Very quick service.

Yay me.

  • Chelsea A.

Awful.

Avoid their chili and oriental salad. Chili was so salty and chicken in salad was dry. Salad was so small for $10.. Been there before and liked their burgers, fried chicken plate

Went here because a local told us we had to check it out. I got the garden burger. It was ok, but nothing really special. The fries were good though!

I think this may be the local version Denny's of Maui. Prices are not too bad, but the food... is just average. Service is small kine slow, too, even on an average night. Tip: Eat in the bar section if there's openings... that way you don't have to wait for a table. It's pretty much the same atmosphere. :P

Pretty good food. Teriyaki plates a little bland but saw the fajitas and they looked and smelled amazing! Very quick service.

The wait was ok ... We had a part of 10. The food was good, the service was OK. Our waitress was nice BUT the waitress that assisted her bringing out the food was RUDE! Yelled out our food order very rough and extremely impatient!
