Ok people get it straight, these are one of those old school hawaii places that people grow up on, those people will generally give it higher reviews because to that it is their comfort food. And there are the others that wont like it becuase they will see it as a old dingy place, with ripped booth chairs, scratched up silverware and old chipped plates. But you gotta remember this is "hawaiian soul food" its what makes us feel good eating. Im sure all of us have those old school places we still go to where the health department would shut them down if they didnt have fond memories of that place. Loco moco with fried rice is always good, have some good omelettes. Not gonna get wowed here, but you can also feed the family of four with just about 20 bucks, so its a great bargain.

Good greasy spoon type breakfast cafe, with a distinct Hawaiian touch. Most of the patrons are locals. The menu has the breakfast basics, but probably half the choices are either Hawaiian dishes or have Hawaiian accents added. Open from early am to mid-afternoon, keeping with the breakfast concept.

Totally awesome food! A place where locals go, so you know it is good. My son has not stopped talking about his omelette from there! It is in a strip mall and does not look like much, but really has excellent food!

One of the best local restaurants in town. Has a very homey atmosphere! All the employees are so friendly! And the food is so Ono!! Would highly recommend this place if you're looking to just sit down relax and enjoy some good company with family! :)

I love this place. Simple and easy - breakfast or lunch they always have something that will take care of your craving. I love their: shoyu chicken (usually on special, but you have to check the board); blueberry pancake - better than any other joint; dry mein - a little different from Sam Sato's (I like Jack's one better); fried rice special (for the price, it's a steal!); breaded teriyaki - pretty darn good; and loco moco - pretty good too. Honestly, the service is hit or miss, sometimes you'll catch them on a good day, sometimes you'll catch them on an off day. Either way, it would behoove you to flag someone down if you've been waiting a while, since it's hard to tell who is supposed to be helping you. Never hurts to ask, right? Just try not to take it personally...it helps. Don't forget about my tip - sit down where it's open; menus should be on the table; when you're done, go up to the cash register to pay, they don't bring the bill to you. And, above all else, make sure you BRING CASH.

This is a local hangout...aka dive. Found out later they have cheap meals for locals. As a tourist it not the best options. The food was 'C+', The diner was 'F' The staff was 'B' It's in an industrial area very easy to miss.

Don't expect too much and you'll be happy at Jacks Inn. Seems to be the local hang out. A hole in the wall (my favorite type) with a pretty extensive menu. Breakfast is what I live for and I was very contented. Corned Beef Hash and egg with fried rice.. very good. Side SLICE Sweet Bread French Toast. (Regular slice bread- nothing special but good taste) And A Maui Hot Dog (just a regular hot dog). Like I said earlier. .. don't expect much and you'll have a great experience. A real old time diner.

They need to work on their customer service and leave their frustrations behind. Awesome food though

The best dry min / fry noodle. Way better tasting than Sam Satos. Jacks Inn is all the flavor of Ma Chans! Old school Maui comfort food. I highly recommend.

I usually don't want to give a bad review but this place has gone down hill. The place is kinda dirty the decor is really old. The food today was just okay i didn't eat much as i am not a big eater but it didn't have any Tate. We ordered the super dry mein without egg and it came out loaded with egg, they took it back and made a new one. I had the dry mein no sprouts and that was just okay. There were two other tables with customers do the place wasn't busy. They serve coca-cola products but had no coke. Customer service was okay. Yelp says its closed on Saturdays but they're open till 2. Cash only. You need to go up to the register to get your bill. I hope they do better because they had some good food in the past.

Cool little spot. Tucked away in an industrial neighborhood. Looks closed like other helpers said but it's open. Seat yourself menus are at the table. Staff was nice. Food is your basic local food with Filipino options too like pork adobo. Their kalibi ribs were good.

Used to be one of our favorite local places on Maui! What happened? Looks like new owners? Greasy food, chop steak mostly unions. When we took it back they came back with a new one more steak this time which looked oily no taste and rubbery. Place looks more run down than ever! We use to be advocates of this place. My stomach is sour as we speak I'm sitting in the bathroom stall as my body is rejecting the poison I just ate. Paid $30 for 2 of us. Save your money and go someplace good. Don't say I didn't warn you.

So this used to also be a favorite spot for good food and also good SERVICE, but we had breakfast there yesterday and it totally SUCKED... we sat down and the lady came to wipe the table and wiped all thr rubbish on me, then forgot our utensils, finally 10 minutes later bout our drinks (water), and then took out order, all the while shaking her head, my brother asked for lemon for his water and got tangerines, kept getting the "stinkeye" from the server.... sorry bad service = no tip... and they only take cash no cards or checks... place run down and yucky...

I don' really like pancakes much, unless there's coconut or some other kind of syrup (not fake maple syrup) so I ordered loco moco & friends got pancakes. Meat was dry, egg was over cooked, and gravy was flavorless. I ate it all because I was hungry but wouldn't go back - unless I wanted pancakes. Those looked good and lots of flavors to choose from.

Hidden gem. I've been coming to Jack's Inn since I was a kid and it's unchanged. I love it. Saimin in the mornings and Beef stew for lunch are my favorites. Prices are more than reasonable. One of the best mom and pop diners on Maui. I hope this place never changes.

GREAT BREAKFAST!!!! Four kids, hubby and myself enjoyed our first meal on Maui!!! Hubby and I shared an omelet and rice and were plenty full. Kids each enjoyed their meal- "kept saying this is really good"!!! It's a small and welcoming place out of the way! Great mom & pop operation :) ENJOY!!!

After all the talk, I had to try it. Born n raised on Maui n yes everything they serve is the stuff I grew up on n the kind of food Mom cooks. So I told the whole family we had to try it and six of us stopped in on Saturday for lunch. It's a dive. Yes an absolute dive. I don't know if the health district inspects on Maui but there r little sand cockroaches all over - we saw one on the counter, one on the floor n a healthy 1/2" one crawled across our table. I was done. Yuck. The bathroom looks like it hasn't been cleaned in a month? A very long month too. We had the dry mein, super dry mein, saimin, breaded teri plate, roast pork n cheeseburger. The roast pork was barely average, the breaded teriyaki was so fatty I had problems cutting it with the knife!! Hubby said I forgot to say I wanted it lean - but who does that!? My daughter liked the cheeseburger n Mac salad well enough. The saimin "no more taste", according to my Dad who has had many a local saimin. Now for the dry mein . . . We r dry mein snobs as mom makes awesome dry mein. Three of us had it n thought it was good - chewy n greasy (from the pork), but still pretty good tasting overall. If it weren't for the filth n roaches I might try that again . . . actually, no I wouldn't, it would take a lot for me to go back there. I wanted to like it. I did. Sorry but we won't be back. There are many cleaner local places with great food. FYI -- it's CASH ONLY, no credit cards. And good luck with service. :)

Definitely skip this one! There was much grease on my plate not sure where it came from, but I strongly suspect the hash browns were deep fried. They were greasy and chewy. Place is dirty and icky. Huge brown stains on the white curtains. There has to be other places that are cleaner with better food. Keep looking!

I've been coming here since I was really little with my family, and now I bring my fiancée from Minnesota. Honestly i was hesitant to bring him here the first time, but He loves it. It's our go to breakfast place on our days off. Not the prettiest place but if you want good, local style food for a really good price, this is your spot. No long wait like Sam Sato's, and the food comes out quickly. My usual consists of Saimin ( regular or small, depending on how hungry I am) and a cheeseburger deluxe. Roast pork in the Saimin is soooo good. Burger aint fancy but is soo satisfying. The fiancée usually gets an omelette or the banana pancakes. I don't usually care for pancakes but their's is sooo Ono!

Love the local feel and the staff here at Jack's Inn. They are kind and warm and the food is fantastic. The home style cooking is just comforting - best homemade corn beef and hash - now my bar has been set high! Local Moco is also wonderful - meat patty is like meat loaf, which I love! Your missing out if you don't come here!

Yesterday I ordered lunch over the phone and I was disappointed with how the woman who answered the phone spoke to me. I felt like she didn't care about why I was calling and sounded like she was in a hurry to get me off the phone. In a firm tone I requested her to slow down and speak clearly because I couldn't understand her. Anyway we finally got the order in. I ordered their spare ribs and fried rice. It was super ono (delicious). However it was the last thing I ate yesterday. I didn't eat dinner last night because my tummy felt funny. And sure enough this morning I had real bad case of diarrhea. The funny thing is I've heard about how awful the food is here from my co-workers but I kept brushing the negative comments off. But after the diarrhea and the rudeness of the woman who answered the phone, I am NEVER going back to this place ever again. And I'll make sure my family and friends hear about my experience. You guys need to be nicer when you answer the phones and make better food! Boooooooo!!!!!

Awful experience. I'm a veg and asked for an omelette without meat. It came with meat. Ok that happens sometimes but when. Sent it back it came back with a few straggling pieces the cook had just chopped off the meaty parts. Came back again and eggs weren't cooked. Then my daughter got FOOD POISONING. I wish I could give negative stars.

This place is awesome. After being continually disappointed by food choices in hawaii, I found Jack's Inn on my last day here. Don't be discouraged if you go by and it looks closed, they open from 6am-2pm. This very greasy spoon cafe sports your regular toast and eggs, but also has great hawaiian comfort food like loco moco (awesome, I had it and didn't have to eat for days), saimen and spam! Prices are cheap and the portions are huge. Thank you, Jack's Inn, for making my last day in Maui a memorable one. - Hungry Foodie

Always come here for breakfast when in town. The gravy on the moco could be a lot better.

After reading some of the reviews, it makes me wonder how this place can get 4 or 5 stars, yet the writers have pretty negative comments. I understand the loyalty issue to the family that owns it, but truthfully, this place doesn't deserve more than 3 stars! I've been here several times and every time, the service has been consistently bad. The portions are small for the prices and the taste of the food is just ok. If you go after the lunch rush, when the waitresses are prepping to close, forget about being served quickly or happily. They close off most of the dining area and make everyone sit in the same section, crowding everyone in. Getting drinks, including water, is like asking for a Big Mac at Burger King! I watched our waitress make our cups of ice, fill it with soda, then go about prepping the wait station for several minutes. All this time, our uncovered drinks sat there getting flat and watery, all as I kept them in constant view. After they were hurriedly dropped off, and she hurriedly took our order, we waited for our food. I had the okinawan shoyu pork and fried rice. My wife ordered the steak and eggs, medium rare and over easy, respectively. Well, if it weren't for the cook, yes, the cook, bringing out our food (because it had been sitting on the window for several long minutes) we would have gotten room temperature or heat lamp overcooked food. He even brought us refills on our water cups, which had been empty since before the waitress dropped off our other drinks. You would've thought she noticed, but I guess closing the restaurant was more important. The fried rice was horrible! Not local style at all. The shoyu pork was mostly sparerib bones and the steak and eggs were both overcooked. So, to summarize, I walked up to the cash register to pay, which is normal, and never saw our waitress again (besides her doing everything but checking on her customers) since she took our order. I made it a point to calculate a 15 percent (should've been 11%, which is what is automatically taxed to servers) tip, which is rare for me. This waitress deserved to be stiffed, but I couldn't, in good conscience, do this, knowing she would be taxed on the total of my bill. This place is definitely somewhere we will never go back to again. I would probably go next door to marmac ace to eat popcorn next time anyone suggests eating here again!
