I love iHop... Truthfully though we went here and I prepared my Aussie husband for the worst. After all the last time I'd been was in high school, the only place to go when you're not old enough to drink and too hyper to go to bed even though it's 3am. We didn't expect to come here pretty much every time we go to a movie at Maui Mall. The service is always so friendly and while it might take some time occasionally the food is so yummy. Banana cream waffle is my new fav with a side of bacon of course! Yum.

I haven't been to IHOP Maui Mall in a very long time. However, I recently visited two times in the last month. I must say my last two visits really surprised me and I was very impressed. Here are the reasons why: The customer service was a huge step up from previous visits. Kanani and Bailey were extremely professional, knowledgeable, and very polite. Their customer service skills was very genuine and it was a perfect balance of Aloha and consistent service. It also was refreshing to see them constantly smiling. The menu seemed to be revamped and with a lot more options. So many options, it did take me a while to place an order. I ordered the omelet with steak and hash browns. I was pleasantly surprised on the serving size (which I barely finished), and the quality. The pancakes were also delicious. Fluffy and large with nice chunks of banana in them. I was really pleased with the new menu and the quality of the dishes I ordered. Kitchen also had our food hot and ready really quick with a busy restaurant in the nights I visited. Kudos to the back of house for their timely professionalism. I highly recommended Maui Mall IHOP with their great waitresses, timely service, and the great new large menu. I can't wait to indulge at this great restaurant again. This may be the best IHOP in the world! I would've gave this IHOP a 5 star review, however, they are overdue for a renovation. It's not a bad thing, but it's time for makeover. Great work IHOP Maui Mall!

I've never done a review for ihop, so here I am. Having been to many ihop locations, this location at the Maui Mall has to be my fave. Not only is it 3 mins away from my house, but the service & food here is always good! I usually order a breakfast combo (eggs, hash browns, & bacon) with pancakes or their big steak omelette. But this time, I wanted something sweet/dessert-ish for dinner. Killed 2 birds with 1 stone with this "meal." I ordered their New York Cheesecake Pancakes, which is a stack of 3. Oh my, where do I begin?! Of course, their pancakes are super fluffy... but, when you add pieces of cheesecake throughout the pancake, top it with strawberry syrup, strawberries & whipped cream, it's heaven! I will be definitely be ordering this again if I have another sweet tooth for dinner!

We went to Ihop for Mother's Day... as did 1/2 of Maui. I guess we all knew where to get a GREAT breakfast! The line was long, but it was a special day so we knew it would be a little crazy. We finally sat and ordered up some grub. I love breakfast so I went all out with strawberry topped french toast, scrambled eggs, hash browns and bacon. Yes. The service was great and the food was so good... the only complaint I had were the eggs--they just didn't taste great... but everything else was awesome. Especially that french toast. I ate every single last bite. I shared a little with my family, but since it was Mother's Day, I got to be queen of the day and pig out. My family also loved their meals: omelettes, pancakes, fruit and more french toast. Ono.

Told by manager to wait while she finished a non work related - we could hear- conversation with another staff member - no welcome just told to wait. We ended up waiting for over five minutes. the place was not busy at all

Service at night is good but during the day the waitress Lisa is rude and so unprofessional . My visit there was very unpleasant and rushed.

Mita is the nicest hardest working waitress on Maui. If you get her your stoked. Smiles, jokes and hustles. Should be working at Mamas Fish House. Aloha

  • JPP P.

Awful. I guess to be expected. It's an ihop after all. Sever (Lisa) was quite unpleasant. Food was okay breakfast food although eggs were cold. Disappointing when yearning for food from your home town. Skip it and find another breakfast spot.

  • Mark O.

Typical ihop. Waitress "mita" was very sweet. My blt was cold but we were in a group so it probably waited for other stuff. No view here but the prices aren't resort prices either. Should have had pancakes!

This is the only IHOP on the rock. LOCATION: Maui Mall, east side. ATMOSPHERE: This is an aging location but it has gone through a recent renovation and looks great inside. The restaurant is clean and has lots of big windows for natural light. And it's super busy especially on Sundays. FOOD: French Onion Pot Roast - I can't stress at how delicious this dish is. I rant and rave to friends about it. For being a chain-cooked dish, it's pretty up there with homemade versions. The meat is tender, mashed potatoes are smooth and buttery and the dark brown gravy is flavorful. Comes with a big slice of garlic bread. And the price isn't bad at around $16. Big Steak Omelette - Very good. Stuffed with steak, fresh mushrooms and hash browns. Topped with cheese, diced tomatoes, onions & green peppers. Also came with 3 buttermilk pancakes. Great deal at $13. Pancakes - I used to think I could only get creamy buttery pancakes at local places but they proved that wrong. They're fluffy and the batter has that great taste I long for. Sirloin Steak Tips Dinner - The meat was tender and a bit on the sweet side. The onions were a little undercooked than I prefer. The mashed potatoes were instant but decent, the corn was buttery and the garlic toast soft & crispy. Good price & portion size. Chicken Noodle Soup - Side dish to my entree. The flavor was a tad above mainstream and wasn't searing hot. Bananas & Cream Belgium Waffle - A bit pricey at $10 but the portion size was fair. The waffle had a nice buttery flavor and the cream & bananas only added to the deliciousness. No butter required! SERVICE: The staff are friendly and service is pretty quick even when they're busy. OVERALL: Nice menu selection in restaurant deprived Kahului.

I ordered Italian Chicken Pasta. You get apx 2 cups pasta, 3 tablespoon sauce & a half cup chicken with spinach & I guess that was a mushroom. Will never do dinner again, ihop stick to breakfast it's what you do best!

Giving this another shot...it's a new year so why not. Sat within 10 minutes of checking in. Lisa was our server - busy but very sweet. About 20 minutes from order time to receipt of our food, pretty good for the flow of customers on a holiday. Everything was made well on this visit - and the service was good. Noelani took care of a charge discrepancy on our bill based on price difference on our menu. Good save guys good save - I'll be back again. Thank you for ringing in the new year on a good note!

  • Tash M.

Prior to this recent experience, their food was just ok, service variable...but this recent experience, the bf found a rather thick black hair in his hash browns and our server was no where to be found....I don't think they can handle large volumes of people at a time. Our bacon was overcooked, toast never arrived and eggs had an over powering taste of butter. Also, don't get any of their specialty coffees--we tried the French vanilla flavoured coffee and I have to say, while no aficionado, was the worst coffee I've drank in my life; watery, flavourless and expensive ($3.99) Drive down the road to a 7-11 and get better from a machine.

This IHOP, located in the Maui Mall in Kahului, Maui, was put on the map with the emergence of Camile Velasco on American Idol 3 (her parents reportedly own it and she once worked there). Nothing special... just your typical breakfast fair here. It's hard to ruin eggs. Be prepared for a slight wait, depending on what time you get there... I received the same food as I would from any other ihop. The only difference is the waitress, she was awesome. She was cheery and seemed to enjoy her job. She stayed on top of our refills and any requests we had. She was very helpful and friendly.

Standard ihop. Very pleasant wait staff. Kind of expensive for breakfast but enough to share.

We've visted Maui several times and frankly, you grow quickly weary of the tourist hype joints with questionable food served by a wait staff with attitude problems. Some are very good but most of them suck the money out of your wallet in exchange for a lousy value. Enter IHOPS. Yes, its American diner food served up in the same consistant manner no matter where you go. The food is a few clicks above Dennys in quality and a menu that has a bit more variety. Totally a family joint and in this case well inhabited by the locals. Thats usually a good sign. After a week of eating at B.S. theme joints in Kihei, it was, to say the least, refreshing to duck into IHOP's on our way out to the airport for a late breakfast. I marvel at these places. Literally a well oiled machine that cranks out food and cycles customers through like parts on an efficient production line. Our waitress was (I'm pretty sure about this) genuinely pleasant . In fact all the wait staff seemed to be sort of happy to be there, at least as happy as is possible in a huge place full of people shoving food into their faces and asking for more coffee. Gotta tell you, I was impressed. What ABOUT the food? I had the truckers favorite: Biscuts and gravey. It was very good! Had the sausage and eggs plus potatoes and after eating that whole plate full of heart attack food, I was satisfied. My wife had a BLT. She was also pleased. Look, if you want a view, mediocre food and slow dead-on-arrival service, then most resteraunts in Kihei and other tourist spots along the coast will take care of you. Again, they're not all bad. See my other reviews. IHOP doesnt leave you guessing about what's coming out of the kitchen or if it will even get there before you celebrate another birthday. They take care of you and do it in military type precision. I left my biggest tip ofthe week to our IHOP waitress that day. Job well done. Three and a half plus stars for the food, five for the service. The atmosphere as you might expect is a bit hectic but who cares. IHOP is not a phoney joint with a simular image. They are what they are and thats what you get.. So, sit down, shut up and eat your rootie-tootie-fresh-and-frutie breakfast and I'll go get you some more coffee...

My party and I arrived today at 5:45pm. There were approximately fifteen people being served when we arrived so there was no reason we would not have been served. After being seated we waited over 30 minutes without service, no drinks, no acknowledgement, just side glances from multiple staff members. Even after trying their attention multiple times they continued to ignore us. After another 15 minutes of being ignored my party and I picked up our belongings and left. If I did not enjoy iHop pancakes so much this terrible experience and customer service would drive me to never go there again.

Standard IHop - nothing wrong, nothing outstanding. The variety of syrups is nice, the tastes of the syrups are not. This IHop is located at the back of a mall, not easy to see from the main road.

  • Mark H.

Hey it's IHOP on the islands. This particular location is tucked back in strip mall so if you're using GPS you may have little bit of an issue finding. The only differences I could find is you can get things like Portuguese sausage and rice, something you don't see everyday in IHOP. Our service was exceptionally friendly the food was delivered fast and cooked to how we ordered. They had all the bases covered.

Today was a great day! Despite being super crowded & busy, the wait time was only 5 minutes. After I was seated my server, Jocel came over to take my order. She was very positive, upbeat & attentive to my needs. After my order, the food came out very quickly. Speed of service was excellent & the food was ono. If I came in again I would definitely request to be seated & served by Jocel. She was just fantastic!

well they finally remodeled and as a customer you feel like this place is finally clean and worth eating at. service is always good (we had an awesome waitress named andrea tonight) and food was as expected for Ihop. I am so glad not to see mold falling out of the air vents and the bathrooms are finally clean. kitchen looks shiny finally. hope they keep it that way.

I would avoid this IHOP at all cost! We walked in and there were hardly any people which should have been a sign. The service was poor...we waited a long time for our drink order, no offer of refills, our server didn't ask how our meal was and the windows by our booth looked like children finger painted with syrup all over them. They also advertise wifi which we were unable to connect to. The food was greasy, the fries were soggy, the onion rings and fish seemed like they were cooked at lunch time and dropped back in the fryer. Obviously we were not looking for gourmet food but at least they could have put a bit more effort into what they serve. We have eaten at IHOP several times before and this was our only bad experience. We will never return to this location. It was disappointing as we had great meals everywhere else on the island.

Went in at about 10:30 on a Sunday morning. We expected it to be busy with locals and tourists alike. and it was. The receptionist took our names and we sat down to wait...we were seated in less than 10 minutes !! Our server was Jocel, what a great smile and personality! very efficient and professiona, an excellent server !!. We had our food in no time!! Cooked perfectly, hot and tasty! WE LOVE IHOP !!

Had to get an early start this morning so we were there at 6 am, when they first open. Ordered an omlet which was ok, but my 3 buttermilk pancakes were over cooked and dark brown. They tried to hide it by placing a lighter color pancake on the top. Thr three other people in our party also had dark brown, almost burnt pancakes. I guess being the first one there isn't always a good thing!

This is actually the ONLY Ihop I somewhat enjoy. In San Diego, all of the other ones are pretty ... less than average. Here, the service is good. The food is good. (And I especially like their pancakes with brown sugar syrup and bananas and whipped cream ... so gooood!) If you happen to be driving to the airport on your last day in Maui ... come here for your last meal. =)

I am commenting on the service we received. Amber was our server and she was more than polite and even remembered us when we came in a second time in a week. So many times the servers dont get enough recognition. Thank you for your great customer service, Amber!

You would think an iHop is an iHop, but on Maui it's even better. Perhaps it's the friendly Aloha atmosphere from the staff? Maybe it's the fact that pancakes are big in Hawai`i, so they're really well made? Or maybe it's that you're dining... in Hawai`i? :P Still, I've been to local iHops and they range from bad to so-so. Out here, though, this iHop has great service, tasty food, and a wonderful atmosphere. Maui no ka oi!

This one is closer to airport inside Maui mall and very convenient location. My son loves usually Funny face or Silver Five pancakes. I either prefer omelettes or crepes. My favorite is Garden Stuffed Crepes. Iced coffees are nice and refilled promptly. Check out Ihop for any specials running on which can make your trip more pleasant :)

Food is like any other IHOP except for that they do not offer warm syrup. Service is horrible. I love pancakes but 2 or 3 times I have had the worst waitress, usually she is the reason I don't go there. She interrupts me while I'm ordering: "I know, you want pancakes too." I was going to say that I wanted them to be chocolate chip but since she walked away after saying that, I guess I get what I get! I was pretty angry when that happened and seriously wanted to leave after (partially) ordering but I didn't, I don't know why. She also took my husband's drink before he was finished and didn't replace it. Ok I guess that means they want us to leave now. He just drank my entire water since we weren't finished eating and he needed something to drink. Whatever. You always get the check with your meal. It's just a rude place. Can't wait to try Slappy Cakes and stop going to IHOP.

I like IHOPs in general, I always get the spinach mushroom omelette with pancakes. Love their pancakes YUM! My haole husband tried the Loco Moco here. It was HUGE! It had three eggs and two big hamburger patties. The service was good though I think they were shorthanded so they were hustling around. We didn't have to wait to get seated and the restaurant was about 60% full when we went which was during the weekday and about 7:00 PM. Would recommend this IHOP. And keep in mind that this IHOP is not in the mall but in the MAUI MALL, a block over from the mall and it's part of the shopping center, not a separate building in the parking lot.

The food is great but the service really needs attention. There's a couple of awesome server/waitress's but that's if your lucky to be seated at their area. Is this going to be another local spot where you gotta put up with below par service just to enjoy a good meal?

Checked in and told the wait was 20-25 mins. Came back in 15mins after walk to pet store to entertain kids and was told they already called us and they gave table away. Totally gave me the stink eye and blamed me when I was going off info they gave me. I was then added to the list again and made to wait double while I watched other who came in after us get seated one after another. I actually watched them break apart an 8 top, set 2 tables for four and then move it back together again for us. Took about 10 mins to do this alone. I wonder if they've ever seen the simple system at Da Kitchen 10 mins away where they text you on your cell phone when your table is ready. Common jump into this Century! Just heard them say no crayons for kids, ran out. I count 26 kids in restaurant currently. Poor planning. Must be nice to be one of or the only breakfast places in the area so people but up with the mediocrity but still come back. I just noticed to cream on table - not surprised... Poor planning, poor methods, poor execution. I welcome comments from others on where I should try next time as I won't be coming back to this time warp/time sink!! **Just a quick note to say that we just finished breakfast and it's definitely a front of the house problem. Our server Lavey busted her ass and gave us excellent service. She got everything right and went above and beyond to make sure everything was right. I tipped her very generously as she deserved it!! Might be back just based on the awesome service.
